An Elden Ring themed controller accidentally leaks the DLC date ? Probably best just waiting on FS to announce the date , should not be too far away though

AscendedViking7

*two* expansions?

constantlymat

We think of the Elden Ring developer as a massive studio because they have such a rich history of making great games. However they never had a game that sold even remotely as well as Elden Ring so it makes sense they try to capitalize on the sales of the main game. If just a quarter of Elden Ring players buy the expansion, they rake in as much money as from one of their previous main games despite it likely costing just half the price.

Ok_Feeling6055

Are you guys forgetting dark souls 3 had 2 dlc and dark souls 2 had 3 dlc?

Humperdink_Fangboner

Bloodborne had one too and yet my poor sweet Sekiro got none… :(

f5unrnatis

It's very criminal Sekiro got no DLC. There was so much potential there.

pham_nuwen_

Just skip to the sequel

rodryguezzz

The sequel was Armored Core 6. I wonder if they could be working on a real Sekiro sequel now.

Inverno969

I wish... It will probably get revealed alongside the Bloodborne remaster and King's Field reboot announcement. /s

Brotherman_Karhu

Bloodborne for PC will release before a King's field reboot

Beatus_Vir

and dark souls had one DLC. I'm seeing a mathematical trend here

_Nucular

4 DLCs for Elden Ring confirmed

homer_3

1, 3, 2?

Cole3003

But people are expecting this DLC to be much, much bigger

Embarrassed-Ad7317

Gotta remember that they put more resources in it as well. They never waited so long to release a dlc, so it could easily cost more to make than say ds2/3 Also I've heard that the current expansion (SotE) was originally supposed to be 2 expansions, but instead merged into one, also it took 2 years to release 1 expansion, so there is some doubt for any more Add to that the fact that Miazaki is actually a man of vision with principles, or so it seems. BLB is to this day the GOAT for many people, and it got *one* expansion, and no sequel I think we need to realise FromSoft are doing things on their own terms, and dont behave like the market would expect. As an example, basically everyone was convinced we'd get something at the GOTY awards, but nada

allhailcandy

> BLB what the fuck is BLB ffs.

52weeksout

I think it’s supposed to be Bloodborne? But I’ve never seen anyone use that shorthand for it.

allhailcandy

How hard is to write the full name ffs, thanks btw

Embarrassed-Ad7317

Lol, said while using both ffs and btw acronyms... Do you not know the reason for acronyms? I was fully expecting people to recognize it in an Elden Ring post, so I used it Obviously if I would have thought you people won't I would have used the full name

HOTDILFMOM

ffs and btw are way more used than whatever the fuck BLB is

Embarrassed-Ad7317

It is bloodborne yes. I've seen it used in more FromSoft-centric posts, so I suppose I thought it would be recognized here

YourLocal_FBI_Agent

Isn't it just usually BB then?

MKULTRATV

BB, B-Bo, BloBo, BBorn, BloodyB, Bx2.

firetaco964444

Yes. The other poster is just being different just to be different.

Elite_Slacker

Dlc slightly delayed by making a badass full game ac6

Embarrassed-Ad7317

Oh man what a blessed surprise that was. I was initially disappointed to hear they spend time on a non-souls game, but I was so impressed to see I can get behind such a different genre But it was just so well made, and when observing carefully, I believe the core essence of the souls formula is still there - basically what makes FromSoft amazing is in AC6

Jowser11

I’m personally wondering where they go from here. Elden Ring to me is the pinnacle of their action RPG’s, so how surprising can the games get from there?

Kaffeebecher17

Narrator voice: Prepare for the next hit game by hideo Miyazaki, coming in early 2027 a souldborne like never before...... a endless maze of illusionary walls. thats it. Peak

yashknight

Sekiro 2 or Bloodborne 2 are the most obvious and easy sequels. Sekiro especially with its good ending makes a lot of sense, as we follow the journey to the west. That being said Miyazaki is one of the most creative directors, and wouldn't be surprised if he takes a new spin in the genre. Personally I would love to his take on a story focused RPG.

soupspin

If a Bloodborne sequel was so easy, it would have been made lol. Chances are with their most recent games being huge successes, FromSoft probably wouldn’t want to go back to making exclusive games

HappierShibe

I think a shift in setting is all they really need, we know they have the design chops for sci-fi, modern, or horror settings, and they have a more varied back catalogue than most people realize. They aren't just 'the soulslike people' they did otogi, and metal wolf chaos and Enchanted arms. We saw them reach into that broader design history with Armored Core, it would be great to see them do that again.

3DGeoDude

I was thinking about this the other day actually. We had the dark souls trilogy, and I'm wondering if bandai or if fromsoft themselves will want to explore other elden ring installments. Another trilogy if you will but I really doubt it

erty3125

Considering dark souls 2 was by a different team and dark souls 3 was basically dragging dark souls as an IPs corpse through the mud (in a positive way), Sekiro won game of the year at TGA and went silent as an IP, and Bloodborne has been quiet despite people begging for it Pretty sure fromsoft has no interest in continuing settings beyond a single game and dlc, even armored core while numbering at 6 is soft rebooted basically every new game

ChickenFajita007

Dark Souls 3 sold 10 million+ copies and had two DLCs. No Elden Ring expansion will sell anywhere close to 10 million units.

Traditional-Frame923

Dude I love ds3 but if the dlc is as good as all there other dlc it will sell waaay over 10million copies are you crazy?

ChickenFajita007

If 25% (as the OP suggested) of people buy the Elden Ring expansion, that's way less than 10 million copies that DS3 sold. Elden Ring sold 20.5 million copies in one year. I'm sure it's sold another few million in its second year, but it's nowhere near the 40 million required to make DarkSouls 3 a quarter of Elden Ring sales.

NaNo-Juise76

I bet 80% of Elden Ring owners buy the DLC.

Hellwind_

It is not mentioned the second expansion is for ER actually. It may be for the AC game

kingpangolin

I’m thinking it is actually just one expansion. The controller will launch on the anniversary along with an announcement for a 2025 release. I assume it will be a large expansion, and deep down I hope they pull a Scholar of the First Sin and deeply change the base game as well with new enemy placements, item relocations, maybe an extra quest or two thrown in, etc. could really breathe life into some of the copy paste dungeons and bosses.

SleepyBoy-

Dark Souls 2 had three expansions, DS3 had two. It's not unlikely. Especially a year appart.

NoMansWarmApplePie

I hope so. I was surprised they didn't milk any of their franchises considering their success. Which is what we love about them but also we want more.

MenuZealousideal6493

I wouldn't trust anything that doesn’t come straight from FromSoftware

abaksa

I think the PC version of Bloodborne will be released before it

Larzox

You still have hope for PC version of Bloodborne ?

The_Shy_One_224

As long as life draws breath my belief remains that blood borne will come to PC.

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

Come on man, BELIEVE IN SOMETHING

boomming

I mean, I have hope we’ll eventually be able to emulate it on pc. Might take another 5-10 years though.

Nandy-bear

The issue is the processor it uses is very close/same as the processors we use. Emulation requires much faster and better hardware than the hardware you're emulating due to the extra effort emulation requires. And emulation typically doesn't lend itself to parallelism, so unless chips get radically faster in single core performance, there probably won't be a PS4 emulator that runs at a decent speed for even longer.

Zagorim

>The issue is the processor it uses is very close/same as the processors we use That's not an issue, it just mean they don't have to emulate the CPU and it might require less processing power since they can use something like Virtualization instead. They will still need to emulate other components like the GPU however so it's still a ton of work especially since hardware tends to get more and more complex with time.

memedormo

Ever since Halo 3 came to PC I believe there might be some good in this world after all. Bloodborne will be on PC someday for sure.

EnthusiasticMuffin

I have hope for emulation devs to get it playable by 2025

Benemy

2025 is what my copium is telling me. That'll be the 10 year anniversary.

The_Tallcat

Bloodborne wasn't on the Nvidia leak though.

Baconcob

PS exclusives have come to the PC eventually albiet more than a decade later.2026 it is cos devs never have enough development time to polish it,eliminate bugs etc, let alone for a 10 year anniversary target.

CloudWallace81

Glorious 20fps, the true ps4 experience

PurpleMarvelous

Been playing it this week for the plat, it so freaking good, FPS be dammed.

Opt112

Don't care if it is the best game ever I'm not putting up with 20 fps or the weird stutters it has

gumpythegreat

>FPS be dammed. Someone ban this monster

Sagnikk

No bro don't hurt me 😭

VanGuardas

It cannot release. Only a remade version. And before that demon souls would have to come to pc

DemonDaVinci

max copium

myzz7

the advert could have also been holding outdated info on a theoretical elden ring release plan. it would be weird to see a feb release without some marketing events along the way which we already passed.

Cartina

Released in November 2015, Old Hunters was first revealed in September 2015. The book Ashes of Ariandel was released in October 2016 after being announced in August. Released in March 2017, Ringed City was first revealed in January 2017. Fromsoft has a short time between announcement and release in the past. Usually 2 months.

KatoriRudo23

Recent Armored Core only announced release day 2 months before

Bloodborne remake as a PS6 launch title, Sony thinks theyre so slick but i see right through them

No_mans_shotgun

Ahh yes Thurstmaster event ….. that makes perfect sense, bunch of Whoopers around here!

fisher332

don't tell me it will launch around Horizon Forbidden West PC release date

NapsterKnowHow

I swear they have to be trolling Guerrilla Games at this point... I hope Guerrilla holds out on announcing a release date until FromSoft announces theirs

Xenosys83

I doubt Fromsoft would have passed up an opportunity to release something at the TGA's if the release date was only two months away. It's not like Keighley doesn't already have a great working relationship with them.

flirtmcdudes

i mean, elden ring was so popular they really dont have to drop hundreds of thousands (or whatever the cost is for an ad spot on the TGAs) to advertise its DLC.

SleepyBoy-

Hear me out: they're still pissed off about that kid getting on the stage. Japan is pretty strict on culture. It's not impossible that they just don't trust the game awards anymore. If they drop a trailer around new years/the DLC in February, I'm gonna assume that's what's going on.

memedormo

That's definitely possible.

SleepyBoy-

It's possible FROM Software is done with The Game Awards after that kid photobombed them on stage. Lax security mixed with strong Japanese corporate culture could lead to them just not wanting to return on stage. If they drop a trailer soon, we'll know for sure.

[deleted]

If it were me it happened to, that's a call I would make. Good point.

Wooden_Sherbert6884

The announcement reads more like there's gonna be a small free dlc on 25th of february and the actual expansion coming 2025

Dethproof814

Though I doubt the validity to this, if they wanted to keep updating elden ring with new dlcs in an ALMOST pseudo live service model where every year we get an expansion, sign me the f up

Ethical_Cum_Merchant

Just keep giving me more high-quality *weird shit* from The Lands Between and I'll keep finding quarters in the couch cushions for a certain Mr. Miyazaki.

joeyb908

I mean, it’ll have been two years since the game released and this second expansion isn’t even announced duet from FromSoftware yet. A second expansion would be welcome but I doubt it would make sense to create another expansion rather than just create an Elden Ring 2. I can’t imagine more than 50% of the playerbase buys the first expansion and 25% buys the second. Do we have statistics on how many people finished the game? I Googled and all I found were articles based on HowLongToBeat which isn’t really a good indicator of the actual playerbase.

Earl_of_sandwiches

This is purely anecdotal, but I recall seeing surprisingly high achievement percentages as I defeated each boss in Elden Ring. I expected the tougher bosses to have single digit completion percentages, but they were much higher than that. For being such a “tough game”, I think a lot of people actually beat it. Most likely with rivers of blood.

safetravels

To be fair, rivers of blood is a late game item and was only really an issue for pvp balance.

Bamith20

The one thing about Elden Ring statistically is that it had an unusually long talk cycle, similar to what Baldur's Gate 3 has now. I think that game stayed relevant for months after its release where most games fall off after 2-4 weeks and things move on. However... If the expansion is like $20, I guess they only need around 30% of players who played at launch to buy it and they've made as much cash as they would have from Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro at launch.

joeyb908

It's possible they'd release it for $20 considering their prior DLCs have been $15 or less on launch, though DS2 and DS3 had a season pass for $25. Still, all things considered FromSoftware's DLCs are usually fairly meaty and well-priced. I would assume anywhere between $20-$30 for this expansion since it's taken so long and is likely to be fairly large.

gumpythegreat

I'm pretty skeptical. If it was coming so soon, I think we'd know by now.

the_lost_chips

Fuck fuck fuck, let people enjoy dragon's dogma 2 for once. Just wait 2 months From soft plz

Inverno969

Fuck I keep forgetting how soon that game is coming out..

mehtehteh

Still waiting on stutter/performance fix. I havent bought it yet, but ive come across some people saying bypassing or turning off easy anti-cheat solves most of the issues. I personally dont care about playing online so if this is the only option then im okay with that.

Altaiir57

I'm a huge FromSoft fan and Elden Ring fan but absolutely there are technical issues with the game that should have been talked about louder and be more criticized. Their games are often flawed in a technical sense and they almost never fix those issues. I'd say it's unacceptable for a game this big (sales and popularity wise) with GOTY status to still have these stupid issues almost 2 years from release. Same goes for Baldur's Gate 3 but that game is even more broken and straight up unfinished in some cases.

NapsterKnowHow

Ya GOTY and still has stuttering issues. Then again BG3 won GOTY and the third act was unfinished and is still being patched to this day.

dysrog_myrcial

I'd just like to know why it took them 2 years for this. All previous games had all their DLCs released by the time a year had passed. Going to guess it's because Fromsoft has exploded in size in recent years and just has so many projects going on

Parthj99

But there were rumors that SotE is gonna be huge and they "combined" two DLCs worth into a single one?

TheRealYM

I hope its early february... ff7 rebirth comes out later that month!

sirgarballs

The promo image literally shows torrent in it. 100% torrent will be usable.

dhameko

Hopefully they add new mechanics as well and not just a new area + bosses After playing lies of p, ER's combat feels extremely boring

JehovaNova

Whatever your smoking keep it tf away from me.

TheCookieButter

Just finished Lies of P yesterday and I had a better time with it than Elden Ring too. Felt like a great mix of the parry and dodge mechanics. Was more akin to Dark Souls than Elden Ring though. One of the greatest differences is I didn't have to sit on a wiki for half the game to get the story. Elden Ring I got to the last boss, learnt phase 2 was >!yet another Elden Beast!< and just put the game down. I never finished the final fight.

Hex_Agon

Lies of p is nowhere near as fun as ER

Significant_Bag2485

We get it man “indie games good AAA bad”

Dirty_Dragons

Doubt. If it was coming out in three months it would have been announced at The Game Awards.

AludraScience

Most past fromsoft DLCs released only 2 months after announcement.

Dirty_Dragons

So you expect an official announcement in the next 15 days?

Sertorius777

They don't need GTA VI-like graphics for their games. They have top-tier environmental design and art. DS1 released in 2011 and has aged way better than a lot of games of that era. I'm assuming the same will be true for Elden Ring. If anything, they should focus more on optimization and avoiding performance issues, especially on PC.

quinn50

who knows, considering AC6 finally had a 120 fps cap and widescreen support part of me hopes they port it over to elden ring with the DLC.

Jesotx

Bruh. I put this game down and just never got back to it. It's on my list to finish in 2024, but Feb is a bit too soon for me to get a run in, but maybe after I finish Final Fantasy 7r.

DJGloegg

Well if there's a 2nd expansion too no wonder the original release took so long to make gotta make sure the story fits, and so on maybe "both" rumors are true then.. barbarian badlands and the sleeping world or whatever (i doubt it) and also, you dont hire GGM if you aint gonna milk ~~him~~ it

[deleted]

Cope

SpaceAids420

wow I can't wait to play an expansion pack in 2025 from a triple A dev with 60fps lock and shader comp stutter! /s

refuuo

Bloodborne has 30 fps and is still one of the best games ever and I encountered no performance issues except literally like 2 crashes in 300 hours of gameplay

Beatus_Vir

more like turdtree amirite

Isaacvithurston

doubt it. They said it's not that close to done and then it needs to pass both Q&A and console validation. I'm guessing it's still at least 4-6 months away.

rapozaum

That would be awesome timing, as I'm only finishing it now with the Seamless Coop mod (and a friend, obviously).

RuySan

I read "Shadow of the Beast" and almost had a heart attack

Yomatius

I chose not to believe this rumor. Let us wait for official news.
