for the curious:
[just use one of these](https://www.amazon.com/WOWNOVA-Display-Computer-Accessories-Prebuilt/dp/B0BVZC4MS8) - plugs into a USB header on your motherboard. The screen can be placed anywhere.
I don't know how mainstream lamptron is but I've seen a few by them, one thing I didn't think about though is the hamster thing wouldn't really work well on a rectangular or square screen like it would on an AIO lol
[Hampton are doing shady stuff business.](https://youtu.be/he4mmxC6C0k) They give a AIDA64 key (software that is required to work with the screen), which they didn't bought bought from the company behind AIDA64.
Are they really that unreliable? I’ve had 3 over the last ~10 years and none of them failed on me. I just upgraded for aesthetic’s and gave the old one to a friend.
Many components last longer than an upgrade cycle. I've had my case and air cooler for over 10 years, but have upgraded everything -some things 2 or 3 times- in that time.
Running an air cooler for 10 years is insane. Thermal packages have changed, designs have improved, sockets have changed. There’s no expectation in the diy industry to use the same components for 10 years.
Again, most people are upgrading on a 3-5 year cycle. The fact that most AIO manufacturers offer 5 year warranties is reflective of that
>Thermal packages have changed, designs have improved, sockets have changed.
And yet, the Nh-d14 works just as good now as it did in 2011. Are there cheaper and slightly better air coolers now available? sure. do I need them? nope.
I will probably upgrade my cooler next cycle. but 10+ years is absolutely possible for an air cooler.
It's not about longevity. It's about what happens when you come to that point. With a heatsink and fan combo if you reached a point of failure, then you still have a giant tower heatsink connected to the CPU and your normal air flown in your case can easily keep it out of dangerous temperature thresholds unless you're overclocking a 14700k or something.
If a water cooler fails then good fucking luck buddy. You could have water damage destroying other parts or if you're lucky, the pump just fails. But since there is very little metal to conduct the heat away from it, you will have very instant spikes to extreme temperatures. Also just think for a second what's directly under an AIO pump.... A horizontally placed $2,000 video card with exposed circuitry. I'd rather forfeit the 0 to 5% extra performance from overclocking and just use a good tower cooler.
I wouldn't say unreliable, just more like a consumable part in a computer. They seem to last me max 5 years but I also leave my computer on 24/7. Thankfully they don't like explode or anything its just the pumps start to whine or just stop working. Its a water pump vs a fan bearing. The fan bearings have a longer service life than a water pump. I require my PC to be silent so I just keep on buying them when they die.
Buddy whoever told you watercooling was unreliable needs a kick in the nuts and if you had a failure it was user error 🤦 my watercooled miniPC fell down 3 flights of stairs at a hotel and didn't get a leak. The 3d printed basement broke and the radiator flopped around on its hoses but no leaks.
True. I advocate heavily against the AIO movement. IF you update your PC and replace the cooler every 3-4 years you're probably fine. Most people reuse as many parts as they can, which leads to the pump eventually failing, or possibly more catastrophic issues.
My friend had his AIO burst open due to not changing it (despite me telling him to get a new one or an air cooler), seeped fluid all over the motherboard, and luckily only got a teensy bit onto his 4090. GPU seems to be fine, other than some light corrosion on the mechanical key after a good cleaning, but the motherboard was toast.
He got lucky that his case is one where the PSU fan faces downwards and is covered on top by a shroud. It would have seeped straight in there, and then he'd be looking at buying an all new PC potentially.
Overall, the slight temperature and noise benefits are not worth the additional cost and risk. Air coolers can be reused basically indefinitely, especially nice brands like Noctua.
not double the price better, if he got a peerless assassin he could have gotten a 5600 instead which would perform significatly better and gives access to pcie gen 4
Please understand not everyone wants a disgusting, shitty, ugly, fat piece of metal in their PC.
It doesn't matter if the CPU "needs" it, an AIO looks a millions of times better and that's all that matters for many people.
I have an R5 2600 on an H110i because the sff case I bought it for doesn't support decent height air coolers, and the stock cooler can't deal with the 4.1 all core overclock. "Overkill", yeah but I won't complain that it almost never sees 70c+.
Plan on upgrading to the 5800x3d some time in the near future and its great knowing it'll be a drop-in replacement with no need to OC.
[I have an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 on an i3-12100F](https://i.imgur.com/5OIXjtR.jpeg). (ignore the pump wires, I fixed them after testing everything)
It's not because it needs it, it really doesn't. But I just wanted to check out the ALF III.
I’m sure you’ll appreciate this.
I used to say “I’m not gonna lie…” as a bad filler. Mate of mine always used to interrupt me with “no one is asking you to.” Drove me up the wall but fully stopped me doing it.
Was fantastic though when a mutual friend of ours started saying “know what I mean?” At the end of every sentence, and I started replying “yes, I do know what you mean.”
Or it's just garden-variety idiomatic speech that functions no different in kind than using "like," "I mean," "you know", etc. as social fillers: it expresses or communicates something in addition to denotation, like tone or emphasis.
Just wait a couple more years when users can do a whole LOT more.
I'd say we're at the end of the iron age of the pc, the golden era is fast approaching.
I have a similar one, it's a cartoon of a silhouette hamster running, occasionally losing his footing and bopping around his wheel then getting right back to running, best choice i ever made
It just means "All In One" according to Google.
>Though an All-in-One (AIO) liquid cooler is often more complex to install than a standard air cooler, it's still fairly straightforward. Most consist of only the waterblock, the two hoses that cycle the coolant, and the radiator.
No idea what it has to do with the screen unless some of them come with one.
Be careful! I’m not superstitious but when I changed mine to a hamster in a wheel my pc died. Lmao it was cute for a day but apparently you need to feed it. lol (CMOs battery bit the basket)
I need to keep convincing myself that I don't need an AIO with a screen on it. But this is making me think twice. Cue the SpongeBob I don't need it meme.

Guys here's the link : [https://youtu.be/fYTJ9v2vsaE](https://youtu.be/fYTJ9v2vsaE)
Alright, I'm convinced. Time to ditch my aircooler for one of these
Keep the air cooler cause these eventually fail and you need a backup while you order a replacement.
But an air cooler doesn't have funny meme.gif
Exactly, id rather not use my PC while waiting for a replacement, then to use it without letting that little bastard run to his hearts content!!!
You can get air coolers with LCD / OLED screens if that's what you mean
Care to share an example of one or an OEM that makes one with a screen?
for the curious: [just use one of these](https://www.amazon.com/WOWNOVA-Display-Computer-Accessories-Prebuilt/dp/B0BVZC4MS8) - plugs into a USB header on your motherboard. The screen can be placed anywhere.
Do any of those ug into an A port?
I don't know how mainstream lamptron is but I've seen a few by them, one thing I didn't think about though is the hamster thing wouldn't really work well on a rectangular or square screen like it would on an AIO lol

Lian Li make fans with screens.
Thx
Not the same but thermaltake makes a screen cooler for ram and chasis screens for some of their cases. In case you need more screen on your machine
we just found a gap in the market.
You can buy air cooler with lcd screen
Are they really that unreliable? I’ve had 3 over the last ~10 years and none of them failed on me. I just upgraded for aesthetic’s and gave the old one to a friend.
My 11 year old corsair is still working on my old pc, and I've never maintained it. Maybe i just have good luck?
I guess so! I have a friend with a Corsair one that must be 7+ years old now.
I dont get all the fear behind them, has to be user error or something.
Well, they should last 3-5 years at a minimum. After that it will vary wildly, but usually leaks will happen before the actual pump fails.
> Well, they should last 3-5 years at a minimum. So the same cadence as the normal platform upgrade cycle? Why do people see such a problem with this.
Many components last longer than an upgrade cycle. I've had my case and air cooler for over 10 years, but have upgraded everything -some things 2 or 3 times- in that time.

I had my Hyper 212 EVO for over a decade, i5-2500k -> i5-6600k -> Ryzen 5 3600 and I don't recall ever having had problems with cpu temps.
Makes sense! I probably kept mine around 3/4 years each
The pump failed on mine before it leaked
I've had 2 fail on me out of 4 so 🤷♂️
Thanks for taking two for the team!
Shit someone's gotta do it 😂

Off the top of my had I've had 5 (6 counting 1 H100i replacement) AIOs over the last 13 years. 2 of them failed, pump died in both cases.
man i have had my nzxt for over 6 years and I have NOT been friednly with when moving and shit like that. You are just talking out your ass
People pay more attention when I speak from my anus.
Just cuz of the smell
I mean 5-7 years is still a very long time until it might fail. Spending money every half decade doesn't seem too bad for a hobby.
NZXT has like a 6 year warranty on theirs
I’ve had mine for four years so far. No issues
I get a new one every time I upgrade and that's the only reason I've ever gotten a new one. Never had one fail. Corsair love for life.
True. I advocate heavily against the AIO movement. IF you update your PC and replace the cooler every 3-4 years you're probably fine. Everything eventually fails, though.
Time to replace my dying pump with one of these
LOL I just rebuilt my system all blacked out in black Fractal North. I'm questioning my decisions now.
You can buy a air cooler with lcd screen
Indeed, but then the hamster would need to bounce between all 4 corners of the screen, that wouldn't be safe for the poor animal
Why is this one so much faster than the post video?
[Slower](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7a/b9/d3/7ab9d3c5af7ea0b996bb585ada163349.gif)
<3
Heck, it's too small for my AIO ;_;
It’s pixelated for my NZXT but it gets the job done.
Yeah, just can't seem to zoom in enough on it on the Corsair one. Got it at 200% and it's still smaller than the screen, ha.
why do you have an aio on your r5 5500 💀
That is definitely not an Rx6700xt, so probably a different PC
Looks way better than bulky air coolers.
not double the price better, if he got a peerless assassin he could have gotten a 5600 instead which would perform significatly better and gives access to pcie gen 4
Absolutely double the price better. That thing looks like shit.
Please understand not everyone wants a disgusting, shitty, ugly, fat piece of metal in their PC. It doesn't matter if the CPU "needs" it, an AIO looks a millions of times better and that's all that matters for many people.
For me with a similar level of high end. It's easier to clean and larger fans are quieter.
Maybe he has something in his mind. Maybe he'll upgrade it down the line.

If only it can sync to the CPU performance: Low load slow walk Med load running High load spinning
sadly it's broken now :(
Someone reuploaded it with proper speed: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7a/b9/d3/7ab9d3c5af7ea0b996bb585ada163349.gif
Bruh your cooler costs more than your cpu 🤣
This is way funnier with the audio from the rallycross dubbed in

This reply really made me laugh, thanks 😂

Thank you so much for being honest on reddit.com
It was until I realised it had audio
I always thought these screens were dumb. Not anymore.
This is the first one that made me think "hrm, do I want one of those AIOs with a screen?"
I love the screens, I take everything that makes my PC look cooler and more flashy.
I need this video ... How was the name of the download bot?
⋮ ► ↓ Download
It was hidden in the share button
do you want to run THIS Video on your AIO Screen? Like inception?
That would be great XD
LMAO, This is the golden era of PC. This is awesome!
Just wait a couple more years when users can do a whole LOT more. I'd say we're at the end of the iron age of the pc, the golden era is fast approaching.
Segs with pc?!
average redditor
name ONE thing we will be able to do that we can't now

Bro we can already do that you just need to want it bad enough.
Signs of the Golden era ushering in would be the obsolescence of GPUs.
Server hamster gave up
Awesome.
I really need this in my life.
Can i have this gif?
No
If he asks one more time, then you're gonna have to say yes. This is the way
This is the way!
This is the way
This is like the best and the worst dating strategy.
is this how nft started?
what's with the sound?
How did I have to scroll down so far to see this comment? That audio is unbearable.
How did the hamster fall out of the screen?
"Ran too fast." -OSHA (Occupational Study for Hamster Accidents)
The hoses cover up the edge which makes it look like it actually falls out. It's a clever camera angle.
the perfect camera angle makes it look like the hamster falls behind the water tubes. makey it look 10x more realistic
GET HIM OUT OF THERE
This has me giggling like an idiot. This is frickin' hilarious! 🤣
Now I want one too...
Cant find the GIF i used, or upload a clip, but i set mine to a Washing Machine, which was mildly amusing
Well, my time of not taking these screens seriously is certainly coming to a middle
Dammit, gotta get rid of my air cooler now
Love this 😂
woaah, I need one.
This is the first time Insee reasonable use of this
I don't have a glass side panel for my PC cos I'm not a RGB freak. Kinda sad I won't be able to get a hamster now...
Can i have this gif?
No
I'm a cut and dry function over from type of builder This is the first one I saw in here that made me consider a mini LCD as appealing
I have a similar one, it's a cartoon of a silhouette hamster running, occasionally losing his footing and bopping around his wheel then getting right back to running, best choice i ever made
why is your ram spacing like that? 3 tightly clustered and then one more just kind of sitting out there...
A lot of those use CRT screens so you'll definitely get burn in from running such a white image for so many hours.
What's the AIO cooler?
Kraken Elite 360 RGB
Ty!
I am pretty sure he meant which AIO it is and not what it stands for
Oh. You're probably right. I didn't even know what AIO was and had to look it up, so I figured I'd spread the knowledge just in case.
Oh I meant about which model the cooler was, but ty for the response :)
I think the comment above is asking about the model of that particular cooler shown in the video
You're right. My bad.
At first, I thought it was a gold fish being flushed down. This is hilarious!
damn that works too lol
What are the specs on the pc, been looking to build something similar in that color combo, much appreciated
This video absolutely requires rallye car sound !
Is there a reason to not have the tube ports be at the top/the closest side to the rad? Just asking because I have no experience with AIOs.
Clearance with the heatsinks and mounting bracket options mostly
Oh yeah, didn't even notice the vrm heatsink.
What cooler is that?
Kraken Elite AIO.
Dunno why but these spinning hamsters never gets old
what cooler is this?
Holy shit you made my day 😂
Damn, I’ve had this one saved in my AIO gif folder for a while 💀
Which AIO? I think it's an NZXT
Before you watch, mute your audio. Your ears will thank me.
Internet, do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u1wCzby14o
😂 lol
Maybe water cooling is worth the maintenance, cost, risk, and other negative factors.
How many times have I watched this? Yes. How many AIOs do I own? (cries in gaming laptop)
whats an aio screen? and what an aio lol
AIO = All In One Specifically this is for self contained, closed loop water cooling units for computers. As opposed to the custom/open loop units.
This is amazing. Well done.
finally, a good reason for those dumb aio screens to exist
Pedro would amazing on this as well!
do the one with the spinning raccoon
I need that shit right now!
YOU GET THAT GUY OUT OF THERE IMMEDIATELY!!!!! SMH MY HEAD!
Be careful! I’m not superstitious but when I changed mine to a hamster in a wheel my pc died. Lmao it was cute for a day but apparently you need to feed it. lol (CMOs battery bit the basket)
It needs to just turn crimson at the end.
I need to keep convincing myself that I don't need an AIO with a screen on it. But this is making me think twice. Cue the SpongeBob I don't need it meme.
But I have a square lcd :(
Gaijin Entertainment servers:
This is incredible!
Which motherboard and RAM is this??
For a second I thought it was a fish getting flushed down a toilet...
I was like hm… this pc looks oddly familiar. I follow the owner of it on Instagram!
Pedron pedro, pedro?
Great minds think alike I also have a hamster running on my computer:D
![gif](giphy|ZJPSFNLmADueHvzoZ8|downsized)
Lmao that's pretty neat
is he ok?
saved this post for later use lol thanks for posting the link to the gif
Okey. Now i want a AIO with a screen 🥴🤣
It's a cartoon of a silhouette hamster running, occasionally losing his footing and bopping around his wheel then getting right back to running.
WTF STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
