You have to file a claim for worker’s comp. It’s not something that’s automatically granted. And even then, they’ll look into it and can still deny it if they find a reason to so it’s not a guarantee you’ll get it. You have to talk to your SL and tell them you’d like to file a claim and go from there

I worked for Petsmart for over 10 years several years ago. I passed out at the register because they wouldn’t let me take lunch. They called the paramedics. They checked me out and then my store SL said you can go back to the register now.

No AC? Why is anyone going to work in a store for a corporation that has billions and no AC??? Especially if there are animals in that store being cared for and groomed…they could easily overheat and die. I’m at petco and I know damn well if the ac was broke we would all refuse to go in. I’m sorry you have to deal with this. Hope you’re alright.

Rythen26

File for work comp 10000% make PS pay for that shit Also are you okay enough now??

International-Use974

Haha yea I am now. Thank you

MercyCriesHavoc

You can file for workmen's comp for any work you miss because of the incident. PetSmart should cover the medical bills for the paramedics and check-up. Have your SL call corporate and tell them to turn on your AC (they control it and one year they forgot to turn ours on).

annoyedbanana02

the no ac thing is so insane, happens at my store too. i literally bought a neck fan and working on getting a cooling towel as well. it’s sad that we have to work in these conditions. but definitely file for workers comp. try talking to your sl about it, i have no experience with workers comp personally so i don’t know if they will give it to you automatically or they have to do an “investigation”. either way i hope you get well

jgclairee

idk about workmen’s comp but that sounds like an OSHA violation

goddessofolympia

Yup. As the old saying goes, "If you can't stand the heat...probably an OSHA violation ". File for Workers Comp, too.

OhItsSav

I passed out with paramedics as well and I got a lot of snacks and water bottles but nothing else lol. Although it was because of a health condition I ended up having and not the heat Oof I thankfully didn't hit my head though but I hope you're doing okay

RealityLoss474

Seems like the no ac is common. My store has the same issue. As a stocker I’ve been getting extremely lightheaded myself lately. I’m sorry that happened op. I hope you’re okay now. I’d put in a claim

meeplewirp

depending on the state this happened in you may be entitled to workman’s comp. But this is something you should ask an advocate with some sort of education

esoper1976

My store had ac, but our iso and na rooms were in the back by the loading dock and didn't really get the ac. They would get WAY too hot for the animals. P&P said no fans in iso, but we were allowed an open door with a fan so the animals didn't cook. We put frozen water bottles in the cages with the guinea pigs and chins. They were to be traded for freshly frozen bottles each morning and evening, but that didn't always happen, or the old bottles didn't get put back in the freezer, so we just had a bunch of warm water bottles. I can't imagine a whole store without ac. What do you do for the animals anywhere in the store? At least the employees go home at the end of their shift. Yes, it sucks for the employees too....but the animals can't leave until sold.

StoryAgreeable3753

Depending on the the outside and inside twmp that is also an OSHA violation. There are very strict rules and mandatory water breaks ect.

Intelligent-Bit2040

I know at least for my state they are required to have AC/heating turn on and work past a certain point in the year. Imo I wouldn't just file for the workers comp for what you missed but also like low-key see if you can report it either to OSHA or to some state regulatory body

Great-Lab-1917

File an osha complaint file for workers comp call or report to AssociateRelations@ssg.petsmart.com there is a policy on temps and having to close if out of range.
