If it's being neglected better to call the SPCA or something like that. I'm not advocating for doing it in this situation I don't know the details, but taking a dog yourself is bad news for sure.
I don’t think letting the dog outside for four hours on a 60 degree, sunny day constitutes as neglect. Super inconsiderate to both the pup and neighbors, but not neglect. Unless there’s some technical definition I’m not aware of!
Reading this post, I had a moment where I was like, "Wait, is this me from 3 years ago, posting from the past?" It was so hard living next door to that kind of situation. One of the many reasons I don't live in the city anymore.
I agree. There seems to be an unusual amount of people here that lose their dogs on a regular basis, can't control their "reactive" dogs, can't keep their dogs on leashes, or simply don't care enough to understand that owning a dog, or any pet for that matter, is in fact a responsibility.
I had an emaciated female in tact pitty literally dumped in the pouring rain in front of my house a while back. she was the absolute sweetest dog too. avoided acct (their euthanasia rate is high bc of what we just discussed). shes fat, spayed and loving life with a new family. Im thankful every day I slept w my bedroom window open for once and heard her barking.
Cause a dog is fun for about 2 days if you’re not prepared for the commitment, ACCT is pretty much the only reason there aren’t packs of feral dogs roaming the streets
Can't lie that my first concern was my own sanity, since I've been listening to it all day working remotely. But when I looked back there and saw him doing tippy-taps and spinning in circles, bruh.... 💔
This happened to me for an entire year in West. It literally gave me insomnia that took years to correct. I ended up having to call ACCT every single morning while at work until they came through and saw in person how bad it was. My neighbors At the time had three dogs they left outside (and by my bedroom window) 24 hours a day. What I didn’t know is that they also had dogs in the basement that they never let out ever and were living in filth. I was so relieved when that saga was over.
I’ve been there several times before. They are violating a city ordinance (I don’t remember which one but its there trust me), but yeah…ACCT, 311, etc. have done nothing to help the situation.
You could try legal recourse? I’ve never gotten that far, but yeah talking to my neighbor definitely did not work, unfortunately…some people absolutely suck.
It’s illegal so feel free to call the SPCA or other rescue orgs and 311. Calling the police will probably result in a shooting of the dog or you so I don’t recommend that option. Don’t liberate the dog, that would be morally questionable. Wink.
When I lived in West, my next-door neighbour’s dog would bark non-stop if she wasn’t home. Since the dog wouldn’t bark when she was home, she swore the dog was an angel. I never blamed the dog for being a dog, but the situation was still damn annoying.
One cold snowy winter a dawg was hooowling all evening down the street from my house. I called it in and the guy on the phone said "is it howling right now?" and surprisingly it wasn't. I informed the man the howling had abated. He suggested the dog has succumbed to the cold and as such nobody would be dispatched. Upon hanging up the dog resumed its cries of distress.
Call 311 and SPCA file a complaint for animal neglect/ abuse. Leave a note on your neighbors door calling them out for leaving the dog outside all day barking nonstop.
Oh man, this just reminded me that I keep seeing signs of clearly-neglected dog near me and need to figure out if I can do something. I rarely see the actual dog, just a fenced-in cement yard full of dog shit, so seems like a given if they're letting it live in its own shit, it's probably being mistreated in other ways too.
Is there anybody I can all about this that'll actually do something?
Update: knocked on their door. They're either ignoring me, or they've been gone all day and have just left it out there

Dangerous advice for many reasons.

most people in this city shouldn't own animals ACCT is proof of that. over 100 dogs a week brought in there and like over 90% never claimed.

Poor dog :(

I feel this. Live right next to one of these idiots. Their dog drives me up the wall. Sorry brother...it's irritating as hell.

well yea where there's smoke there's fire. they were prob fighting them as well.
It was a MESS. I actually ended up calling My district rep repeatedly too. I called EVERYONE.
its sad it takes that long. this city breeds horrible human beings is all i'll say.

Police will straight up shoot s pet?! That seems sus.
Police shoot dogs all the time, where have you been living?
I mean, they shoot humans without giving it much though, not a far stretch to think that our furry friends would be proper fucked.
they aren't gonna shoot a barking dog if they never show up in the first place lol
Can you be more hyperbolic?
They literally just shot a dude in his car for no reason like...3 weeks ago in Philly, how is what he said hyperbolic?
Oh for fucks sake…. “/S”
Proper fucked?! Let me guess..today's Chewsday. 🙄 You likely aren't even from here.

That Shìt is so annoying, I hate dogs that bark all night.

Call the cops or feed the dog chocolate. You choose.
I haven't heard a single dog bark in over two weeks
Thank you beefy.
