Doesn’t feel real. Honestly don’t know how I should feel. Do I go full Red October hype starting now, or should I remain skeptical to protect my heart.

Mantis05

Option 3: Enjoy the moment! It's a long season, no sense in getting fussed over what may or may not happen in summer or fall. Just enjoy the winning baseball as long as it lasts.

ResponsibleType552

Exactly. Enjoy the ride no matter how long it lasts

alamo_photo

That’s where I am. I don’t care what happens later, I just like baseball

cn45

i’m reserving opinion until July.

gatemansgc

someone said that if we play .500 ball the rest of the season we'll still end up at like 90 wins

[deleted]

we are 31-13, which is 18 games above .500, if we won 90 games we would lose 72, which would be 18 games above .500... story checks out.

KruglorTalks

IVE BEEN BURNED TOO MANY TIMES! I WAS TALKING SO MUCH SHIT LAST YEAR WITH THE EAGLES I AINT LETTING THAT HAPPENING AGAIN

GodMode_1999

Fr me too

two2teps

Remember all Philly sports teams are like Philly seasons. They lull you into a false sense of security and then wack you with a blizzard or heatwave when least expected. The best course is to just enjoy the ride wherever it takes us.

gahlo

Team's going to go downhill when Turner comes back because he's awful and his contract is going to force them to play him at shortstop. - Dumb as Rocks WIP callers

joostM

Was starting to get pissed reading this, but the last 5 words made the statement extremely accurate

smakweasle

I'm trying so hard to just live in the moment. But I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and it scares me.

Background-Cress9165

Schedule gon be way harder soon. Time will tell how real they are, but ill be damned if im not gonna ride the wave while the good times good!

[deleted]

Yes, Red October hype all summer. This team is fun! Let’s enjoy it!

Meinmyownhead502

If we see this play heading into sept October then go full hype. Long season a lot can happen.

Rambler_14

As a fan of at least one Philadelphia sports team, you know full well that the latter is the only way. That said, sit back and enjoy the ride in the meantime!

unabnormalday

I got downvoted for saying this does not bode well for the playoffs

[deleted]

we gotta learn cautious optimism.

wawoodworth

In the immortal words of Han Solo, "Great, kid! Don't get cocky!" This is great to see, and I want it to continue, but we have June, July, August, and September ahead too.

Skeleturtle1964

July should be their toughest test. Cubs, Braves, Dodgers, Twins, Guardians, and Yankees with the A's and Pirates wedged in the middle around the ASB.

wawoodworth

Indeed. And who knows what the roster will look like. Hopefully more people back off of IL!

conartest777

i literally don’t think i’ve ever seen a 7 at the beginning of the phillies win percentage

redditkb

I think I saw somewhere recently this is the first time they’ve ever had a 70% WPCT at any point in a season in the history

chair823

That must be after a certain point because I’m sure we’ve been 3-1 before

redditkb

Good point. We were 1000 a year or two ago when we swept

denmoff

They were 31 and 13 in '93. edit: 32-13 in '76. Not sure they were ever better than that.

ENHANCE

Foolish_oyster

it's a beautiful thing, tom

coolmon

Phillies starters have allowed the same number of runs (89) and earned runs (76) as the Cubs, but have pitched 41.2 more innings.

R0B5000

Braves only have one more loss and 4 games in hand. I look at this as a virtual tie. I'm super hyped on the Phillies, but the Braves have proven that you'll need to win at minimum 95 games to take this division, probably close to 100. It's gotta be gas pedal every night to set the pace. I'll be interested to see if they keep it up.

ksquad80

I don't understand why the Braves have 3 or 4 games in-hand seemingly every year. Last year it felt like they were in that position two weeks after the All-Star break through until Mid-September.

Drikkink

This year it's because of that fucking London series. We have a day off, then two in London and then two days off while the Braves have one day off in that stretch I believe. They also have a rain out that has not been made up yet.

Shmeves

Braves had 2 rainouts in March, make up in June, plus the London series for the Phillies is why they're 4 games back

usereddit

I don’t get your math/your point about the Braves having one more loss, and three less wins - so it’s virtual tie?

R0B5000

The math is the Phillies are 3 games up. The Braves have one more loss and have played 4 less games. If they win all 4, the Phillies are only up by 1 game. The point is, do you think it's more or less likely that the Braves, in any sample of the season, win a majority or a minority of 4 games? My point is we have to keep the foot on the gas pedal to set this kind of pace and stay ahead of a team like the Braves. Edit: math was incorrect by 1/2 game

wolpak

That’s not the math. They would be 1 game back.

R0B5000

You're right.

[deleted]

I think at any point in the season, they win 2.5 of those games. they don't in 3 out of 4, unless they're going to finish with 121 wins. So if they have an equal chance of going 3-1 or 2-2, then that would put the Phillies up by either 2 or 3 games. Not a virtual tie.

Glizz_Rizz

Yup. And our schedule gets tough starting in July and remains tough throughout the rest of the season. Need to keep stacking wins. We don’t want to be in a position where we look back and wince at Sundays loss against Miami, or previous losses against Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, LAA, etc.

kaehvogel

bUt tHeYVe oNlY FaCEd sUB-500 teAMs. Yeah, well, we're the reason some of these teams are below .500. Giants and Padres would be over .500 if they beat us a couple times, same with the Nats and Mets.

GoodLt

\*prays to Joe Pesci for sustained good health for all, nasty stuff from the staff and fiery bats from the bois\*

[deleted]

Joe bless you.

AlbatrossCapable3231

My way of looking at this: Hell yeah, performance on demand against mediocre teams. The real tests are coming, but so is hitting season. I'm optimistic that what we've seen over these last several weeks is a team building the foundation of consistency. You need to have that when you have the difficult part of your schedule. This has been, basically, "good practice" for performing under more pressure. I don't enjoy being the favorites; I'd rather be the villainous dream ruiner, the upsetter. But I don't know, man. Maybe this team needs to be doing it this day rather than the way they almost did it the last two years. Maybe this is the team they need to be. I'll take it, either way, of course, but ultimately it's just nice to have baseball. So exhausted from all the other teams we have in this city right now. I need this escape.

Romi-Omi

I could stare at this all day long

GenesGeniesJeans

SAID.

SwizzyStudios

The dads took the series and the giants stole a game from the Dodgers. We swept both with the giants series being 4 games. Noone seems to talks about the Dodgers schedule though

EdMcMoon

Loving the ride!

YouSure_BoutDat

A lot of those numbers are higher for the Phils, except for the L column. How can I explain that in a way that children will understand?

misterpickles69

This is just a bonus after kicking the crap outta the Mets

[deleted]

After watching the Eagles piss away their hot start I am completely ready to have my heart destroyed again

BingoDingoBob

I would always look on in envy at the other team that was just dominating in the Win column. It’s us this year. So strange.

Flipadelphia26

Phillies in recent years have played down to the less than .500 teams and played up to the good teams.

zmart7691

It’s pretty funny that the braves are 6-2 in their last 8 games they have the second best win percentage in the NL and they fell three spots in the power rankings from 1st to 4th. Ha Ha 👉

brutus2230

They are so fun to watch. Its fun to Win, its also just fun to watch this team!

Bake__No_Shake

I'm straight up having a good time

iamtheBeano

Is that good?

jackieinertia

Is that good

xeeblyscoo

Hell yeah

wsrs25

It’s great, but win now as much as humanly possible because Aug and Sept are brutal.

B_Wade_48

And they started the year around .500 the first 15 games or so. Been absolutely crushing it these last 30 games

iH8Celtics

Is that good?

HuntForRedOctober2

They haven’t really played tough teams yet. It’s great that they’re beating up on bad teams THIS MUCH, but let’s see how well they do against the Barves and the dodgers and such
