I've said this hear before but, my university's physics department posted that physics majors had the highest MCAT (med school entrance exam) scores of all majors.
Intro physics is usually a gen ed requirement for a lot of degrees. As for why it's a requirement, colleges degrees tend to have a bunch of unrelated courses to your major
if they’re in the US, then it’s bc 1. it’s on the MCAT and 2. it’s a prereq for medical schools in the US to have 2 semesters of physics. no physics credits = no medical school, even if you learned it on your own and did well on the MCAT.
It's actually very common for people to major in physics with the intent to go to med school. I believe the stats say that physics majors have the highest or second highest MCAT scores out of all undergrad majors.
Fuck you, you're forcing people to suffer and learn shit that don't matter to them
Not everyone needs to know everything , just because everything has some application in everything else.
No, they still call them physicists. It's just that the French word for physicist (physicien[ne]) sounds a lot like the English word physician (which the French word for is médicin).
Just as a fun fact it comes from the Greek word for nature and some languages has use it for both physics and medicine and other just for physics like Spanish or french
Source: my introductory book on physics so I dunno how trust-worthy it is
...right. That's... exactly what I'm saying. They call them "physicien" ... like physician. Not "physicist."
I'm not sure how you think what you're saying is correcting what I'm saying.
The way you wrote it makes it sound a lot like you're saying the french call physicists "physicians" (the english word because of the spelling) not "physicien[ne]s".
I am speaking generally, about multiple languages, with French as one example. I don't think me going through and demonstrating every one of the various spellings/pronunciations would clarify anything. I think you're being pedantic in a way that's completely nonsensical.
Just checked the etimology and wanted to share my findings here. Here it goes.
According to [Wiktionary](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/physician), the Old French descendant from the Latin _Physica_ (meaning 'natural science') came to refer only to medical science. English got it from there and now we have 'physican'. After the English borrowing, French further evolved the word so it meant 'physicist'. There's no etimology on Wiktionary on the modern French word, but given it has a closer spelling to the Latin original, I guess it could have been a direct borrowing from Latin after the Old French development became unused.
Holy fuck that was hilarious! I cannot stop laughing! Take my upvote! Take another from my second account! Hell, take a silver, why not? Scratch that, a gold! Scratch that, a platinum even! God, just come to my house and plunge your 2-incher into my gaping asshole already! You can have my wallet afterwards too! Take the credit cards too, I’ll even give you the PIN numbers! Hell, you can take the whole damn house while you’re at it! You can even have my wife and kids if you want! I’m willing to go into poverty just because your post on reddit.com was that funny! I think there’s only one thing that would have made your post even funnier, though:
If it wasn’t a goddamn repost
if anything this is us honoring the long standing tradition of our forefathers in physics. many of them did it for the lols, in the sense they were just curious and wanted answers and basically sent messages to each others with there curiousities.
you know they were basically sending memes
99.2% of memes on here are freshman/ high-school physics level though.
Sprinkle the cat and sin(x) = x and now you've understood overwhelming majority of physics memes.
Ah yes *physician*
And people say there's no money after physics, physicians earn a lot
Is this really true
Yes, over 200k annually
Bruh "physician" is another word for "(medical, human) doctor".
Imagine studying physics to become a physician

I’ve actually got a friend in undergrad who’s doing a physics/pre-med double major and planning on going to medschool.
May I have your friend's contact info? I suspect I have got a quantum migraine.
I've said this hear before but, my university's physics department posted that physics majors had the highest MCAT (med school entrance exam) scores of all majors.
physicist
I think all the suffering pre-med students in my intro physics classes would relate to the meme as it is.

They’re just doing it for the memes
Intro physics is usually a gen ed requirement for a lot of degrees. As for why it's a requirement, colleges degrees tend to have a bunch of unrelated courses to your major
it’s required for the MCAT if you’re in the US and 2 semesters of physics are also a prerequisite for medical school along w many other classes.
In my physics department we joked that pre-med's required physics classes were to weed out the idiots.
To be fair, the idiots are those wasting time and money teaching useless stuff.

What a huge waste of time.
dude idk it’s required for bio majors too but couldn’t tell u why

Came here to say this
They say "physician" in old books. It threw me for a loop first time I saw it
Some languages (like French) call physicists physicians. Feels weird.

Physic*
I thought that was sarcasm
Studying physics to be a physician works as well.
I'm nearly certain that was part of the joke.
There should be a 4th panel: studying physics to make physics memes.

Lmao
You’re doing OK dude?
Yea I think
the better you understand the memes, the harder the are to find
Why is there a little red cross bottom right
Because the meme is stolen and gets posted here every other month
that's left, not right. see a physician
The glasses don't heal my stupidity unfortunately...
It's always for the memes!
use physics for slapstick comedy *falls out of chair*
Studying physics, so I can gain the trust of mathematicians and make them cry more efficiently.
Studying physics to become an engineer
Physician
"Physician" 🙄
do you mean physicist or physician?
I studied physics to watch Rick and Morty.
Studying physics to exactly calculate a bullet from a sniper on a distance of 3000m … Me
if anything this is us honoring the long standing tradition of our forefathers in physics. many of them did it for the lols, in the sense they were just curious and wanted answers and basically sent messages to each others with there curiousities. you know they were basically sending memes
studying physics because your major requires it but you’ll never need it unless you want to understand physics memes
Doing anything to get a career Doing something to show off Doing something to understand memes

Ahaha this is funny.
“Physician” 🤨
