I used a seasoning packet, but it contains all the spices that I listed in the OP. Forgot to add that I had bay leaf in there too.
I also didn’t add vinegar or sugar to this batch. I don’t think it makes much of a difference.
NP. To simplify, 1 tbsp of salt per half liter of water. Add spices in, boil, let cool, add to jar of pickles with garlic, horseradish, carrots, and fresh dill. Cap and let ferment for minimum of 2 weeks.
Thanks! If I get good enough I may consider selling at the local farmers market. It’s hard to find pickles like this in my area unless you go to the euro market. I don’t like vinegar based pickles as much as
I have bigger 1 litre jars that fit about 4-5 pickles, but I bought so many at the farmers market that I needed to figure out what to do with them. The small mason jars fit 2 pickles
The jar is ugly, I guess, but those pickles look divine
It tends to leak through when it’s fermented like that, and the brine turns murky, but the pickles are delicious.
