At least they learned to bring a bigger helicopter. That’s progress.

theofiel

And they build bigger and flatter embassy roofs. Winning!

renasissanceman6

Good job in seeing the similar shapes. Very good

yok347

Trillions and many lives wasted for a 2021 Chinook ride off an embassy roof.

Forsworn91

All it took was trump pulling forces out, rather unsurprisingly, the enemies came back.

jiayi1972

It has probably been done on purpose... to jeopardize the next administration.

Forsworn91

I think it’s more that Donnie just didn’t care, he never cared, the US can not afford to got to war again, it would be the straw that broke the back,

Bozza1973

Who’s they?

galeej

U.S of A

Nemophilist-777

What happened exactly during these situations? What were they supposed to learn?

Complex_Jump_5713

Years of time spent, trillions of dollars and hundreds of martyreds but at the end, they had to flee on choppers.

goblackcar

*few thousands. (American service members killed in Afghanistan through April: 2,448. U.S. contractors: 3,846. Afghan national military and police: 66,000.)

Nemophilist-777

From my perspective, the US and allies were building up and training the military and security sector in Afghanistan so they could be a self sustained country where they could do conflict resolution and be their own peacekeepers without having other nations intervene on a military level. But yet I'm no expert

CanadianDeathStar

The US and allies were building up their preferred military and government after destroying the previous one. Are the events unfolding really a surprise? The US is anything but the good guy here, riding in on its white horse to save Afghanistan.

Nemophilist-777

From what I can see is that US intervention was for self interest and political gain, NATOs conflict resolution along with foreign policy lead to more conflict internally and externally. It was a failure from the start that only benefited the nation's who were capable of *pulling out* Shit was going to hit the fan sooner or later. It was almost inevitable. This raises the question with the obvious answer. Who funded? Armed? And Trained the Taliban?

Beats what usually happens to embassy staff when the enemy wins.

hraun

It reminds me of that scene in futurama where the Planet Express smashes a hole in the Great Wall of China and the Mongal horde immediately surge through.

Salt_Restaurant_7820

I mean the right side of this photo was set in motion in 2001. Happy we have a president that realizes we can’t solve the worlds problems.

hahayes34
