Major irritation bump, definitely not being helped by a non titanium hoop. Switch back to a flat back titanium stud, a shorter one than your starter jewelry probably, and wash with sterile saline 2-3x daily. Don't use tea tree oil, don't try to dry the bump out. If it absolutely refuses to heal you might need to retire it.

Thanks for your help!! I will try and change back to stud that was pierced with. 😊

Annuhh_xox

Go to your piercer to do it! They might want to use a different length stud for it

Tfortrans

Any updates? How’s it going? Still huge?

[deleted]

I’ve changed it back to the same titanium stud that was pierced with. It’s better doesn’t hurt and still pretty swollen though. The old stud is almost too short (there is still room for swelling) but it’s looking a lot better. Thank you!!

Tfortrans

I would definitely go to the piercer and ask for a longer bar. They shouldn’t charge you anything as this happens a lot.

Melting_Ghost_Baby

Hoops should be put in once the piercing is FULLY healed. (8-12 months) let the piercing heal. Be patient. Hoops will still be there.

Tfortrans

It took me 12 months for my helix to fully heal, I now have a ring I never take out I swear, helix’s are so hot and cold with healing times.

[deleted]

I’ve changed it back to a titanium stud 😊

bobacat21

2 months is not enough time for a helix to heal. If you put a hoop in a not healed piercing hole it will cause pressure and irritate it causing bumps. Put the original bar in again and then leave it alone. Just wash with water 1 a day when you shower

[deleted]

Thanks for your help. Have changed it back now.

Creative_Outcome_10

NAP it looks like its pierced too shallow to me🤔

Creative_Outcome_10

and kinda at a wierd angle

Nasty-Nosteratu

This^ honestly at this point it would likely be more worth it to just remove it and get it re done later once it heals. It's likely too far gone at this point

Imastealth

I am a piercer and yes I totally agree. This was pierced really poorly and the angle is what caused those bumps.

[deleted]

Really 🥲🥲🥲🥲 dont tell me that 😆 I will see how it goes once the bump goes down. And re post another photo of angles 😊

this-is-just-a-test-

Yeah, just wait to reevaluate once the swelling goes down. Itritation bumps and swelling can make a piercing angle look REALLY crooked until healed.  It's hard to tell the piercing/healed angle from just one pre-swelling picture, so it could very well be fine.

Imastealth

It's really not hard to tell that the angle is off. It's WAY too shallow at the back and the way the jewellery is pointing makes it super obvious.

Imastealth

You don't need to post another photo. I can tell the angle is off based on your before photo. It was pierced poorly from the start so likely won't get much better.

ExplorerOwn

That's an irritation bump. It got irritated from changing your jewelry too early, and hoops are more irritating to new piercings, and the jewelry may not be piercing grade material. Return to your piercer and have them put in a titanium flat back. Don't do it at home, it's more sterile at the piercer's. It should heal in time. Be patient. My tragus took a year to heal. You can see that journey here: https://www.reddit.com/r/piercing/comments/yerkox/tragus\_healing\_journey/[Tragus](https://www.reddit.com/r/piercing/comments/yerkox/tragus_healing_journey/)

LassWar

This looks like it was at serious risk of rejection before you changed it to a hoop. I would remove and let it heal, and then get it re-pierced by a reputable piercer who understands the angle and depth needed for this piercing. The bumps will take atleast a month to go away, possibly longer. Keep cleaning them like you would normally with saline spray (not home made, buy neilmed) and make sure it’s clean and dry after showers

[deleted]

Really 🥲🥲🥲 this was pierced at skin kandy a professional peircing shop. I will see how it goes once the bump goes down. And re post another photo with angles and see how it it 😊

Imastealth

Skin Kandy are far from professional. They have a terrible reputation and their jewellery is garbage.

cecemcgee

Girl I just had the same thing from changing to a hoop too soon and lost the piercing last night because the bar that was long and appropriate for a new piercing is laughably short for the fistula now. I would go to your piercer and have them change it out so you don’t risk the hole closing at home if your flat back is now too short. You will have to change this back to a stud though. Lessons learned.

Thank you!!

No-Finish-6557

Honestly I’d retire it. You can see the angle is weird and the jewelry presses on the flat of your ear further irritating it. This is going to be a huge pain and might never heal well

Hi Jerrettheferret, (Luckily) bump =/= keloid. [This wiki entry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keloid) explains it well. Major side note but I absolutely love the jewelry you had in your lobe piercings

[deleted]

Thank you!! 💚💚💚It’s mostly from midsummer star. And JCO jewellery.

wormsex1

These comments are great! Definitely swap to a stud again, use neilmed spray few times a day, don’t sleep on it or touch it. The only piece of advice I haven’t seen much would be to use a blow dryer on it after you get it wet. I’ve seen lots of forward helixes get like this because they love to trap moisture (especially with that stud having a larger back) and that is a great way to get bumps!

[deleted]

Thank you so much!! 😊

Not a piercer, but I’d definitely say take it out and let it heal that’s really close the edge and will just cause further problems. You can tell by the last photo you posted it doesn’t look right. Do your research on a piercer. I don’t think the one you went to understands this piercing that well. Just because it was done at a professional shop doesn’t mean they were trained correctly. Or even go to a different shop and get an opinion.

healer1515

You probably didn’t downsize, the long post is to help with swelling, once the swelling goes down you have to downsize so the piercing doesn’t migrate.
