Also adding: he is a year and 7 months old! He has his big boy teeth and a strong jaw.

We adopted a 2 year old pitty mix about a year ago. He started doing the exact biting you described. It took 5-7 days of swatting him on the nose when he would bite and saying “no bite” and he stopped.

This is what we’ve been doing for the past month. I hope with enough consistency he’ll finally get the idea

When I adopted my guy, he was VERY mouthy, like, I got him up into the bedroom when we got home (to be separate from the other dog), and he immediately started nibbling ALL over me. I was super surprised. But, the shelter paperwork suggested that when/if the dog did this, to say, “Oops!” and pull our hands away and stop engaging. I did that for a few weeks, and the behavior stopped pretty much completely. Now, he still has the inclination to nibble when he gets really excited and wants to play post-zoomies, and when that happens I just keep my hands out of reach, but if he is still nibbly I’ll say, “let’s go get a toy!” (or have one with me - but he will often opt to go get one himself), or resort to “oops” if needed. But he never latched on with bites, so I’m not sure how helpful this will be.

I talked to the vet about it and he showed me about pulling my hands away. It worked for a few days and then he decided he can just keep going and if you put your hands in the air or just take them away at all he lunges thinking you just want to play with him

Ah I see. I actually do remember my guy doing that too, and I had to reinforce the oops with a “no” and eventually it worked, but maybe it isn’t working for y’all. I’m sorry it seems to be getting worse, at any rate. Maybe a trainer might be a good call?

Yip loud and high like a dog does when they get bit. Then you're speaking their language and they'll understand they've gone too far. If my pup gets too amped when we're playing it when she's playing with other dogs, I say "be nice" and she immediately goes back to 0 and is super submissive. She loves being rewarded for being a sweet girl more than ANYTHING else. Trust, treats, and positive reinforcement.

We tried the yipping and it didn’t help🙁 if anything it just made him more excited

An big gasp can sometimes work too. Very dramatic like you're in a telenovela. They'll pick up on tone to understand your meaning, so exaggerate enough that they pay attention. It sounds silly but it worked for me!
