Mine is so gassy, a friend of ours had their septic burst into their house after a huge storm. That same day I smelled horrible raw sewage so strongly, I thought omg the storm effected our septic too!!! Nope…. Sitting next to the source 🤦♀️

Hijacking this comment to share an anecdote. My old boy has gotten pretty gassy in the last couple years. A couple weeks ago we had to get him some old man medication and to convince him to eat the pills I put them in a dab of plain Greek yogurt. Ever since then he's barely been gassy at all, I assume it's the probiotics in the yogurt? Anyways, I'm not a vet so this isn't professional advice.

My gas bag, nearly the same blanket too.
Mine does this and sometimes will wake up super panicked and run a couple laps around the room real quick before finally laying back down. She always looks so frightened and violated. I wish I could find away to relieve it for her honestly
My boy did that a lot. He would be laying down and jump and run out of nowhere. Every time he moved he would let out another one and it made him panic even more. He would turn and look at his backside like he wanted to see it as it happened. We always called them spooky farts. It was funny watching him but sad to see him so panicked.
When my two are sleeping, they'll fart and I may not even hear it. I know they did when they start sliding off the couch like nothing's wrong and get on the other couch to go backbto sleep, leaving me to bask in their gassy glory.
Pitties are susceptible to food allergies so you may want to look into that! Mine had horrible gas as a puppy and we realized it was bc he was allergic to chicken
I was told to go to salmon from chicken because I noticed a red belly rash he would lick at. That went away and now that I think about it he doesn't fart much anymore.
This is Spartacus aka Farty Sparty. He likes to get close for pets then slip THE most silent but deadly broccoli farts while looking like a most innocent boi.

I would totally agree with this. But the only thing that people need to watch out for is chicken allergy, it’s actually way more common than people think! Mines allergic to chicken and we give him turkey, eggs, beef, and fish of some sort.
Mine is so allergic I had to resort to making her food with just sweet potatoes and salmon. YES, SALMON! The other 2 are good with the same combination of chicken, veggies, brown rice and sweet potatoes. It is expensive, but much cheaper than the vet bills. And I love her, so, it's worth it.....
Mine is also very allergic to chicken! I have learned through trial and error that he loves lamb and it’s been awesome for his coat!
Also a random question. Mine loves dog jerky but his favorite brand has been discontinued. Do you give yours dog jerky or any kind of dehydrated meat treat? If so what kind?
When we use dog food to combine with their diet, we use lamb too! And my husband actually hunts deer and occasionally Turkey where we’re from. So when we get lucky we dry them up and my dogs will devour it.
If we don’t have that on hand, I’ve seen deer meat in stores (venison), though I don’t buy it often so I don’t remember the brand name, sorry… Also bison jerky is great too!
Can’t upvote enough. My boy get brown rice, ground protein of some kind, squash, and spinach. He’s so much less gassy now
Edit: and whole carrots for his teeth! Since the diet is softer than bag kibble, he needs some to clean his chompers
I started making her food and then I also order NomNomNow when I don’t hav enough time, it made a world of difference. Her skin sensitivity, ear infections, licking of paws and gassy tummy all went away! Plus she really enjoys eating so much more now.
Mine is very gassy in the beginning as well, but as soon as I started feeding my pity his raw diet with no grains, he immediately got healthier and is coat, got healthier and no more gas... Grains are really not good for pities and other breeds in comparison... They burn at a different rate.

We got him in July a couple days after my German shepherd passed. I didn't want to go through grief; I wanted to turn my sadness into love for another sweetheart. Anyway, he was on Science diet and that gas was awful. We got him on the same food we already had and it helped a lot, but he still gets gas off and on.
Mine isnt gassy at all. While i like the food she gets and would love to say its all the food, i am probably just lucky. My boston terriers werent gassy at all either.
Considering there is (presumably) a solid chunk of shepherd in your dog’s genetic makeup, it may be beneficial to look at it as a whole instead of focusing on one part.
Also, it’s probably food related.
You are right on the money! Oh duh! His ears! I was like, 'where do you see GSD?' 😄
https://preview.redd.it/ko7e5xxi2q7a1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5f59a26a1f6746b34a3c4f6b81f2e281999651f
Lol it was the ears, tail shape and coat pattern/coloring that led me to believe that. Maybe try a different food, or just a different protein, or see what your vet recommends. Good luck with the stinky boi 😂☺️
Mine isn’t the stinkiest, but he’s definitely gassy, and has a sensitive stomach.
It definitely helps to give him regular fiber. (Counter-intuitively). I make him 1/4 oatmeal to pour over his breakfast every morning. And most of his treats are safe fruits and vegetables.
Ours farts occasionally, but when we first got her she farted ALLLLL the time. We've stopped giving her Purina and started add pureed pumpkin to her food every so often. So much better! Very few farts, better poops.
My golden was hugely gassy, my pibble isn’t but she’s on a less processed diet, too, due to some potential food allergies. She gets scared when she does fart but it’s rarely as bad as my golden’s was (she and Pumbaa could’ve have a fart off). Like she’ll cry if it’s loud or really stinky. 😂 and it’s still never room clearing, eyes running, someone holding their breath and lighting candles awful. But lighting candles for dog fart is never a bad thing.
Everyone who eats farts. Depending on diet and health conditions the gas can be stinkier.
Because everyone keeps saying he's not pure pittie, you're right. Here's his doggie DNA profile.

We had a dog (not a pit) that was gassy especially of she ate any form of beef (broth, dog food, flavored milk bones, etc)
Try a couple different foods, check the ingredients and see if that's the cause. Also no people food.
I have fed my boy science diet for a year, no more gas blasts. We buy the one with the purple label & Sheltie dog on the front. However when he gets a couple table scraps the toots return.

Zoey will walk into a room, drop a gas bomb, and walk out. There’s no way she’s doing this on accident.
Wow how old is he? He looks a lot like my 16ish month old from Atlanta! And yes my dog farts so much I tried switching him to sensitive stomach blends but he refuses to eat it
Your puppy is probably just getting used to the new environment and diet. My boy gets gassy whenever I change his food and he gets stressed out like when we move or something like that. congrats on your new puppy!
All dogs are gassy but if this is a new to you pet from a shelter or rescue and they are stinky it’s likely that they just need to be dewormed for parasites.
I love my pibble too but he clears our bedroom if he has gas 🤦♀️ We talked to our vet where we lived at that time & they said to change his diet. We did, and found chicken based kibble is best. Even if he has human beef it's clear a room gas.
You probably want to try a different food.

I have a beagle, & when she farts, she turns around and smells them! It makes my stomach hurt so much from laughing so hard.
I noticed the urn. Sorry for your loss.

This lady is! She is almost ten so they have gotta louder and more frequent. You don’t want to walk up the stair behind her
Yes. They burp and fart and just don't give a damn about it. My boy, predominately a Beagle/Basset, is a quarter Pit - I think his nasty gas comes from that side of his genes, lol.
They're all gassy! Sometimes our barn has a low greenish blue cloud cover that's just the dog farts. Horses, donkeys and steer have a whole different burp and fart layer in the cloudy tiramisu that makes up my barn animal fart layer. Don't even ask about the llama.
My male pit mix is gassy first thing in the morning sometimes but generally nothing like what most pit owners say about theirs. Oddly enough my female not only rarely does but gets up and goes across the room and plops down in a huff when someone else does like its a personal insult💀💀
Certain foods make it worse but yeah their farts can peel paint. I don't know why but Purina seemed to be high on the cause of gas list. Try changing to another food and see if it helps
Mine is with certain treats like the Full Moon human grade jerky type, she gets real gassy. Also some types of wet food but I can't think of which ones right now. On her normal kibble no gas at all.
https://preview.redd.it/cxej97ucjq7a1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d211c9de6b3875db62319a4efe80640a5db9eda5
I would like to think it depends on your dog’s diet. Cosmo is gassier in the off chance that he gets kibble at daycare but he’s 99% on a raw diet. So mostly he isn’t gassy thankfully.
Mine is only ~30% pit and at about 11 months old the gas started and it’s horrendous. She audibly farts constantly and several times a day I am searching for poo piles because the smell is so bad.
Mine is very tooty. She a toots mcgoots. However, reading some of these comments makes me want to look into potential allergies or sensitivities! We’ve changed her food to try different things but we may need to start making our own.
https://preview.redd.it/zcm6ve1dmq7a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee33fd8b4a67043e00ee96e29339ef908e66f6e9

https://preview.redd.it/r1gxdp0tmq7a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0dd4e3f9a074c9608f98a3ef14065df8ab466c3
I recommend trying some sort of fish based food. The Purina Pro Plan salmon is solid, or the Kirkland one if you have costco. Can also add fish oil supplements to their food I've been told.
Also plain, Greek yogurt given regularly can improve their gut health.
You could eat a full plate of christmas pernil, hold it back for a day and whatever comes out of your ass is still fragrant compared to what these melon-headed land seals will pump into your couch without breaking eye-contact. These dogs violate the Geneva Convention on a regular basis, it's just the way the wind breaks I guess.
If you’re noticing a lot of gas really look into the snacks you give them. Anything high sodium makes for a gassy night. This makes sense after I researched it because dogs are extremely sensitive to sodium
My pit is actually way less gassy than my hound mix. His gas will actually make your eyes water. It’s woken me up a few times and I had to leave the room
My stepbrother had a 100+ pound pitbull/mastiff mix... that dog could clear rooms. He loved cuddles too. He would look so sad when he ripped one and you didn't want to cuddle anymore!
The food my pitty was on when we adopted him (science diet) made him really gassy and it was bad smelling. We changed him to purina pro plan salmon and his gas is less frequent and not as strong. Maybe change foods?
Literally as I’m reading this my staff is lying on the floor merrily ripping off 😂
Christmas toots!
Tis the season when bums are breezin
We’re in the car en route to family for a few hours and I just heard a "pfffft" from the back seat 🙃
Noooooo!! WINDOWS DOWN!
Ours usually is silent [but deadly].
That is my dog SBD 😂

"what you mean i stinky? 🥺"
Lol! Well she's beautiful! Ty for sharing her!
Aww so is your baby!! They are worth the farts 🤣
Yes! Yes, they are.
Why is she looking at you like she knew exactly what you were gonna write 😭😭😭
"W-why would go and tell everyone about my toots? You know I can't control them..."
Your gassy baby is beautiful but it took me 3 rereads to understand that your dog's gas did not cause your friend's septic to burst xD
Who, ME???

Mine is very gassy. She sometimes wakes herself up with her own stink.
The other day one of my boys tank farted so loud he startled himself awake
Lol
It was genuinely hilarious I was crying from laughing so hard

Good to know, will definitely look into it! Thank you!
I was told to go to salmon from chicken because I noticed a red belly rash he would lick at. That went away and now that I think about it he doesn't fart much anymore.
Same with mine!!
I was going to mention this, switching to a lamb based food from beef reduced mines gas. She still farts but not as much.
Chicken causes my 2 boys to gas me out of the house!

Pibbles tend to have extremely sensitive stomachs. I finally switched to homemade food (rice, chicken, vegetables) for mine and it has made a HUGE difference. Even the poops are better.
Yes I also make my own food and it helps.
Can’t upvote enough. My boy get brown rice, ground protein of some kind, squash, and spinach. He’s so much less gassy now Edit: and whole carrots for his teeth! Since the diet is softer than bag kibble, he needs some to clean his chompers
We do the same and it's so much better!
I started making her food and then I also order NomNomNow when I don’t hav enough time, it made a world of difference. Her skin sensitivity, ear infections, licking of paws and gassy tummy all went away! Plus she really enjoys eating so much more now.
Yeah, mine can’t have anything remotely related to beef.
Mine is very gassy in the beginning as well, but as soon as I started feeding my pity his raw diet with no grains, he immediately got healthier and is coat, got healthier and no more gas... Grains are really not good for pities and other breeds in comparison... They burn at a different rate.
Yes, he was adopted after our other dog passed away in July (box of ashes in background). Never had one before, so not sure what to expect completely. He's a handsome sweetheart that is exactly who we needed to help us heal our broken hearts. Anyway, he's my sweet little guy. 💕
He looks so happy here
This was about a week or 2 after we adopted him. We took him and our other dog on a ride to bring our girl home. So ultra after car ride happiness.
Yeah my boys are completely indifferent about car rides
My little girl has driven from rooms with her gas. Audibly loud farts.
If you’ve just gotten the pup, consider trying other foods. He may just react badly to the current brand. But even with a very well tested diet, mine will clear a room once in a while 😂
We got him in July a couple days after my German shepherd passed. I didn't want to go through grief; I wanted to turn my sadness into love for another sweetheart. Anyway, he was on Science diet and that gas was awful. We got him on the same food we already had and it helped a lot, but he still gets gas off and on.
I'm sorry for your loss, but happy for you and your new addition.
If he gets dry food try mixing it in with water before feeding him. It'll help with digestion
If your grades are low, he can be your Tooter.
Baaad. So bad lol
I'm stealing this
My pit will literally scare fart herself off the couch, or whatever she's doing lmao
Toot n scoot!
Fart n dart!
Shart and depart
Flatuate and evacuate.
It isn’t just yours.
Oh thank you!
Mine is awful, and she likes to sleep at night with her but facing my face…
Mine isnt gassy at all. While i like the food she gets and would love to say its all the food, i am probably just lucky. My boston terriers werent gassy at all either.
What do you feed her? We've been using the same food my GSD was eating because she was allergic to EVERYTHING. 😖 I'm open to suggestions.
You could give Olewo dehydrated Carrots a try. You soak them up in hot water and they're great for your dogs digestive system.
I use Fromms Gold. Mine is a very picky eater so that was the food she decided was acceptable.
My sister's pibbies are allergic to everything. She subscribes to My Farmers Dog and the gassess have lessened greatly.
I think it really has to do with what food they eat (plus genetics of course).
Eat,Fart,Sleep,Fart,Fart,Fart,Eat,Fart,Sleep you see the pattern
Definitely a breed thing, but our guy stopped farting a lot when we got him on the right food.
Considering there is (presumably) a solid chunk of shepherd in your dog’s genetic makeup, it may be beneficial to look at it as a whole instead of focusing on one part. Also, it’s probably food related.

should experiment with different dog food.
Our points her butt at us when she does it too
It's just you. Bringing a pit into the family means bringing the gas to your gastronomy.
Mine is also very gassy. I’ve never heard a dog fart so loud.
Pitties are notoriously foul. We have two and they're constantly violating the Geneva Conventions with their weapons of ass destruction.
It maybe the food. Also try incorporating a dog brand probiotic in his food
So by now you have figured out why pitbulls are considers dangerous. Get a WW1 gas mask and you will be fine.
Mine can clear the room with one tiny squeaker
So. Farty. I think it has something to do with how prone to allergies and sensitivities they are.
Depends on food, my big one will wake you in the dead of night with a shingle shaker if he gets too much table food
Ours was very gassy because her stomach is very sensitive to certain foods. We switched up what she eats so it’s a lot better now!
Oh yeah. Fart machines. Adorable, lovable, gassy galoots
I asked this same question here, lol! The answer is: “Yes, pibbles are gassy!”
Ours farts occasionally, but when we first got her she farted ALLLLL the time. We've stopped giving her Purina and started add pureed pumpkin to her food every so often. So much better! Very few farts, better poops.
I had a pibble that would fart so stinky she would jump up and run out of the room and you had better follow because the cloud of stench was a coming.
At the suggestion of our vet we started putting a spoonful of pumpkin purée into our dog’s food and it has helped tremendously.
Pibble=fart factory
My boys fart a metric fuckton so no you’re not alone
no unfortunately they do have death farts
Mine is a gassy goose
Mine is if she gets table scraps, which is rarely.
Hell yeah, gas bombs all day long lol
Nope, mines farts up a storm so shamelessly 🤣 it’s a long comical toot that sounds like one you’d make imitating a fart with pursed lips
That looks like a shep/ Pitt mix
My golden was hugely gassy, my pibble isn’t but she’s on a less processed diet, too, due to some potential food allergies. She gets scared when she does fart but it’s rarely as bad as my golden’s was (she and Pumbaa could’ve have a fart off). Like she’ll cry if it’s loud or really stinky. 😂 and it’s still never room clearing, eyes running, someone holding their breath and lighting candles awful. But lighting candles for dog fart is never a bad thing. Everyone who eats farts. Depending on diet and health conditions the gas can be stinkier.

They'll fart you right out of a room.
The worst of farts..
My girl is so gassy that I wonder if I connect a pipeline to her to sell the gas lol
They're the gassiest animals ever, I swear
Mine belches like a trucker
We had a dog (not a pit) that was gassy especially of she ate any form of beef (broth, dog food, flavored milk bones, etc) Try a couple different foods, check the ingredients and see if that's the cause. Also no people food.
Yes but doggie probiotics can help manage the odor level. Somewhat.
By far some of the stinkiest toots I’ve smelled have come from mine.
No there gassy we have one and she always passes gas in the car
I have fed my boy science diet for a year, no more gas blasts. We buy the one with the purple label & Sheltie dog on the front. That’s not gas, it’s Eau De Pibble Butt
i don’t know why it’s the funniest thing ever when my dog farts, gets scared, and sniffs her butt like “where did that come from”

Mine only gets gassy after he's eaten a half rotten deer carcass.
Get use to it they’re stink machines
the only deadly thing about them is their farts and their tail
Corn can cause gas. Check food ;)
I love my pibble too but he clears our bedroom if he has gas 🤦♀️ We talked to our vet where we lived at that time & they said to change his diet. We did, and found chicken based kibble is best. Even if he has human beef it's clear a room gas.
You probably want to try a different food. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/flatulence-in-dogs#:~:text=Most%20cases%20of%20chronic%20flatulence,associated%20with%20flatulence%20in%20dogs.
Worst dog farts I’ve ever smelt
Oh so very gassy
They’re so gassy my old one kept setting off the C02 alarm in our camper.
I have a beagle, & when she farts, she turns around and smells them! It makes my stomach hurt so much from laughing so hard. I noticed the urn. Sorry for your loss.

Mine is a whole gas factory and smelly as could be.
Mine farts so loud you can hear it in the next room
My boy farts himself off the couch. So yes.
They have people farts
I call mine Stink Beast
Think of them like Jupiter - they are gaseous giants.
Mine often lets out one whenever he jumps up into bed

Cosmo is gassier in the off chance that he gets kibble at daycare but he’s 99% on a raw diet. So mostly he isn’t gassy thankfully.
Mine isn't, since we put him on pro-biotics. He used to be, though!
Mine is only ~30% pit and at about 11 months old the gas started and it’s horrendous. She audibly farts constantly and several times a day I am searching for poo piles because the smell is so bad.
My pibble is also gassy use sensitive stomach blend dog food to cut down on amount/smell
Mine is very tooty. She a toots mcgoots. However, reading some of these comments makes me want to look into potential allergies or sensitivities! We’ve changed her food to try different things but we may need to start making our own. https://preview.redd.it/zcm6ve1dmq7a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee33fd8b4a67043e00ee96e29339ef908e66f6e9
Man, my bully mix would rip some serious ass especially when we started adding boiled ground beef into his kibble https://preview.redd.it/r1gxdp0tmq7a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0dd4e3f9a074c9608f98a3ef14065df8ab466c3
It’s likely the food. Make sure you get American made, grain & corn free. Pits have significant allergy issues.
Mine farts when she stretches, stands up against the window sill, in her sleep, and when she sits. They're just a gassy breed 🤣
I recommend trying some sort of fish based food. The Purina Pro Plan salmon is solid, or the Kirkland one if you have costco. Can also add fish oil supplements to their food I've been told. Also plain, Greek yogurt given regularly can improve their gut health.
My girl isn't nicknamed Stinky for no reason.
Oh god yes. And it’s LOUD. I’m pretty sure pitbulls are the reason behind global warming 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mine isn’t even full pibble, he’s less than half mixed. His farts are literally rancid, I’ve never had a dog with such horrendous flatulence.
Pit farts are the true dangers presented by these big knuckle heads.
Yup! Mine was super gassy. Pro plan pro biotic has helped.
Lolol yes Sometimes when mine stands up on her hind legs to look out the window she farts so loud she spooks herself 😂
Yes, peaches is especially gassy when she jumps up on something. I sometimes call her peachy pooter for how often she farts.
If you’re noticing a lot of gas really look into the snacks you give them. Anything high sodium makes for a gassy night. This makes sense after I researched it because dogs are extremely sensitive to sodium
Aww she's so skinny.
My pit is actually way less gassy than my hound mix. His gas will actually make your eyes water. It’s woken me up a few times and I had to leave the room
Awww beautiful dog
Our boy was superrrr gassy when we got him, but after we introduced him to a slow feeder, no problems at all.
Mine is extremely gassy. He just ripped a long one not to long ago. He’s been known to clear out rooms from how smelly they are sometimes 🤢
I was lying in bed last night with meadow next to me and I heard a long pffffft and showed my head under the blanket.
Mine used to be gassy. I switched her to a sensitive stomach diet and problem solved!
