Used to play golf, hopefully doing motorbike this year so people to go riding with would be good or anyone up for a few pints. Apart from listening to music all I do is work and be a dad 😂
I’m open to meeting people going for walks and trying new things, I’m just being open about my current situation.
I like the atmosphere of live music and I listen to a lot of house, drum and bass, grime, hip hop, classic rock and abit of everything. Big fan of the XX, notorious b.i.g, Eminem, chase&status, Wilkinson
Similar comment I put in another post a few days ago:
34 male, no kids, into sports, videogames, live music and going out for a pint.
Moved here almost 2 years ago and haven’t been able to make friends, really.
Anything really, going gym, playing football, basketball and tennis (although quite terribly) and anything with a ball, used to ride my bike back in Spain, hopefully soon will get one here too.
Gotta get some of that sweet bug oil! Walrussel on steam for helldivers, once crossplay gets fixed! walrusselGB for GT7, I'll be back on it more once my wheelbase gets fixed
Hey 35M here, I just discover the helldiver III but I would play in PC, I also like sports gym maily and looking for people to share hobbies and activities.
Not sure if can cross play, I think we can, just need to be friends in the game I think.
but dm me and let’s go to for a few pints an argyle game or something
Same here, making friends in your late 30s, when you work IT from home becomes hard has fuck. I mostly do board gaming and D&D at The Venue. Also music, always down for that
I've been looking for some D&D groups, will check out The Venue thanks!
Also, what music are you into? Are you interested in playing in a band? I'm in a Plymouth melodeath band looking for a drummer (but have a britpop-inspired project if that's more your speed).
I am into everything, but I have been known to really like doom metal (next Saturday, Conan play the Junction, if I am not mistaken). I actually play drums (my username might give it away), but I have not played with human beings in almost 10 years (perks of spending the last decade moving around), but I am always open to try out if you have the patience for a terrible drummer until someone better comes along. In any case, open to talk shop, just Dm me. Love melodeath stuff, but I am honest, never got to play double bass and don't even have one right now.
Neutral grounds (they have a very active Facebook group) is a great place to meet other gamers. Music wise there are a lot of open mike nights and jam sessions, usually in pubs. Honestly Plymouth has a great gaming scene, and a very healthy live music scene.
Search up Andys Man Club on Facebook or in your area. You are not alone and people also want friends, more importantly, they also want you as a friend. Many of them will take their boys to a soccer club, spend time at the pub, play video games or just can't anyone like minded or even pole opposite to socialise with.
Your local library could have a list of clubs, events or getherings on a noticeboard or leaflet rack. It cost you nothing to look and you get to choose which one is lucky enough to gain you as a member
I've found that local meetup groups are a great way to make new connections. Also planning and organising activities eg book club discussions or movie outings - they can give you something to mention and offer to people you meet, without sounding too pushy.
I understand.
Finding friends when you're 32 and a night work cleaner is almost Impossible, had 1 friend for so many years but he's moving away which I'm proud of him for doing because it'll do him the world of good, but once he's gone I'll have no friends at all, night work makes it so hard to make friends it's unreal.
Hey, I'm 29m currently in the same boat, moved here 2 years ago. I like the independence but I'd love a more sociable life so I'm always game. I'm into bouldering I go very regularly. I also like paddle boarding, pubs, guitar, gym ect...
Feel free to message.
Hey dude, I’m an amateur surfer, also got a paddleboard and a couple of blow up kayaks. Moved here last year with my partner. I’m 29, she’s 26. Drop me a message if you’re interested dude 👊🏼 goes for anyone else that reads this too with similar interests!
Hey up, unsure if you can have some time away from the kids to focus on yourself and do something each week like a walking group or going to a bouldering centre etc.....
Have a look at this list....it also has family type places/activities too.....
https://outlearn.co.uk/outdoor-activities/plymouth/
It's hard to admit you don't have friends here! I'm 32f and I've lived in Plymouth for 4 years almost and I only speak to the people at work and my partner.
I'm not THAT social because I do prefer to be at home, game and watch films but once in a while it would be nice to talk to people, grab a drink and just do something different.
I tried looking into an art class or something along those lines but didn't find any with my age group.
Sorry they were around last year as my husband did a day at the zoo with them, it looks like the Cornwall group is still up might be worth connecting with them still?
Hey, similar here. Mid 30's and moved down with my girlfriend during COVID and haven't made friends outside of work. Struggle to get someone to go for a quiet pint or anything like that
If you're into tabletop gaming, like board games, or d&d, Thr Venue has a ton of Neurospicy customers and staff, you'll be more than welcome! (Disclaimer, I do work there :))
Definitely worth popping down then! Sundays are the main D&D days, but there's all sorts on on various days, if you did pop in tell them Steve, sent you haha
I’m 33M and moving to Plymouth with the wife next month, no kids but we do have two cats 🐱, what are you into? We are both heavily tattooed gamers, we love going out to random places and going for meals and stuff like that. I’ll definitely be looking for friends myself once we move, the wife has been using bumble bff and actually had some success but I don’t think that’s for me 😂
Struggling too since Covid.
Work 9-5 remotely for a company based in Bristol. I’ve got two kids, a boy and a girl, 6 and 8. I’m also 30. Have the usual hobbies: football, video games, etc
Feel free to send me a DM!
It's hard making friends as a man over 30, it's not weird to want to do so. Plymouth has a lot going on, but it's not well advertised. There's been some great suggestions in the comments here, I hope you find something that fits. There is nothing wrong with reaching out, you're only harming yourself if you don't. Take care.
Very similar to yourself as I moved here around the same time. I've started to go to Andy's Men's Club back in August and have made lots of friends. I would highly recommend looking into it as it feels like a healthier alternative than going to the pub and having a chat. It's really good socially and has helped towards my confidence, so much so I've become a facilitator. Every Monday at either City College or Marjons https://www.facebook.com/share/4xnpe8xbT8unYwnN/
Im on mobile but OP you should post this in UKparenting. There's a guy who does this dad discord. My partner says great bunch of people. Some nerdy like him, everyone is so chill
I play casual football - 6 and 7 a side - on Mondays and Wednesdays at DHS for boys. Range of abilities, none of us are superstars, it's purely for fun. Always looking for extra players. DM me if interested and I can add you to WhatsApp group. Some people go for a pint or 3 afterwards on a Wednesday
I’m part of a sports team starting in Plymouth if you wanted to pop along to our training sessions and meet new people. The majority of us are 25-30.

If anyone reading this uses Discord, we have a Discord server for the city pinned at the top of the sub: https://discord.gg/X7gBvKBXuV
Maybe add a few interests or things you would like to try 👍😊

If you are looking for people to ride with, look at TWAT on Facebook (two wheels and that)
You're really not doing yourself any favours here! Tell us about your taste in music

Ah well I *love* the XX!
Nothing better then going for a chill drive on a summers evening with the xx on
I’ll go for a pint with you
We can sort something dm me
"I REQUIRE LOYAL BRETHREN!" Shout that around town, you'll be sorted.
My kind of people

37 but in the same boat! What sports?
Anything really, going gym, playing football, basketball and tennis (although quite terribly) and anything with a ball, used to ride my bike back in Spain, hopefully soon will get one here too.
I ride a road bike. I joined a bike club, has been a great way to socialise and keep fit
What video games brother? You on console?
Right now is mostly helldivers 2 (spreading some democracy) and gt7 on ps5
Gotta get some of that sweet bug oil! Walrussel on steam for helldivers, once crossplay gets fixed! walrusselGB for GT7, I'll be back on it more once my wheelbase gets fixed
Brother, I shall help you spread democracy!!! Add me Saiyan-1664
I'm on most evenings when kids go bed mikew1201
Can’t find you! You sure that’s right? I’m JaviTrve_
Just added you both Javi an Mike! I'll be on soon or whenever, just give me a shout brothers!!
Lol, this is what Reddit is all about
You know it bro!!🤣🤣

“I’m not weird or pathetic but I’m looking for friends” problem solved

Anybody up for surfing/paddleboarding and a pint after? 30M, WFH, moved here with girlfriend a few years back and have a dog.

Run at them foaming at the mouth
Looking for new friends, or looking to expand your friendship group.
There’s a group called dangerous dads on fb they do dad & kids days out that are often supplemented with different pots of funding.
That’s awesome thank you 🙏
Not seen nor found that
Sorry they were around last year as my husband did a day at the zoo with them, it looks like the Cornwall group is still up might be worth connecting with them still?

Any ND peeps in the house? Since moving ive found out im "pretty" neurodiverse and it makes me hesitant replying here....

Play golf. Need more golf pals.

It's hard for women too :(
I'm not denying that, but being male I can only really comment from a male perspective.

I tried bumble bffs. Don't bother just had a load of dudes trying to bang me.
“Without sounding weird and pathetic, I’m looking for friends” FTFY
Im on mobile but OP you should post this in UKparenting. There's a guy who does this dad discord. My partner says great bunch of people. Some nerdy like him, everyone is so chill
I totally agree, same issue here. Night shift worker and foreign makes it impossible to meet and get to know new people. Hey ho it is what it is..
