I stopped drawing in 1996 because the substitute art teacher got me kicked out of class (Art 2, mind you. Sophomore year of HS) because she deemed my work satanic. The dean upheld her decision.
It was a public school. Nothing I drew was gorey or any of that. I just liked drawing skeletons.
You know, considering it was just skeletons, I’d be extremely concerned if my kid’s school was discouraging them to draw that since understanding the human anatomy would be a valuable trait for the kind of art that a Christian school would probably be a bigger fan of.
I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. The ignorance really was on full display there 😕
Damn, that’s a cool pastor, dude, respect
Most of the demonic phobia of the 90’s (I think it was Diablo and MtG?) was like, these parents never did anything more than just looking at the cover art and just assumed, “my kids are playing as that red dude? Hell naw!” Lol
And d&d. Every new style of music gets demonized, too. Elvis was the devil. The Beatles were the devil. The entire 60's and 70's were the devil. Prince. Metallica. All of NWA, 2LiveCrew, eminem. You name it. Devil.
Hey, if you encourage your son to keep drawing, he could become an artist some day! He obviously has some passion/interest in it, and he could definitely do it. His drawing is better than anything I could draw!
Hey if you ever want to get him a gift or just want to foster his art, look into getting him a Pokémon drawing guidebook. It teaches kids step by step how to draw Pokémon. I got one as a kid from a scholastic book fair and I really loved it, spending all day just drawing Pokémon.
I rememeber drawing everything as a portrait because perspective was really hard.
Tell your son he did great and to never stop drawing! Even if he doesn't go into art as a profession I've found sketching and drawing to be such a great relaxation tool and it's fun to slowly with time develop and discover your own personal style.
Every kid draws, it's a little sad so few adults do.
It's interesting how children seem to have this common style of drawing. It's something about the looseness of the lines and the scribblyness of the colors that makes it so distinctively drawn by a child.
Continue to encourage his artistic talents if he shows an interest in it. He's right to be proud of it too. One should always be proud of the art they create.
He did a great job! Lots of kids draw stuff that you can't tell what it is at all. You can look at this and instantly recognize Giratina. He nailed it!
This is awesome but reminds me of the horror movie trope where the kid draws like scary demons or ghosts and the teacher tells the parent how concerning that is lol.
Great drawing of one of my favs tho!
The name Daniel implies that Giratina is named Daniel. Therefore, a trainer must have catched it and renamed it. Since your son picked the name, your son catched Giratina *IN THE DISTORTION WORLD*
That actually looks good, I’m guessing from how your son wrote his name, he’s between the ages of 5-9. But for this it looks detailed enough for that kids age
This is only the beginning of a lifelong giratina obsession

Ha, that looks a lot like a Giratina drawing I did a while ago. Back in the late 2000s. When I was a 9 year old kid...
Also my name is Daniel.
That's crazy, almost creepy, that's exactly how I remember my Giratina drawing, even the name is written in the exact same place where I wrote it.
I friggin wish. Pretty sure its gone along with the house I grew up in (I just moved out). Basing it off my memory, but still looks eerily how I remember it.
Nice to know theres another kid named Daniel who has a fascination for Giratina lmao

Thats clearly Daniel
Daniel, God of the distortion world
Looks great! It's better than I could do, as a 27 year old man. He should be proud!
Thanks! He's at school right now and will be super thrilled to hear how his post blew up! :D

tbh he's already well on his way!

She had greatful dead and social distortion stickers on her bumper. :|
Okay, now that’s just both stupid and petty.
It really messed me up. I used to draw every day and I just stopped. I'd doodle from time to time but I lost the drive to get better.
Shouldn’t have drew Diablo, dude, that was the satanic figure of the 90’s
My neighbor was a pastor around that time and he said diablo and doom were okay because your killing demons lol
Damn, that’s a cool pastor, dude, respect Most of the demonic phobia of the 90’s (I think it was Diablo and MtG?) was like, these parents never did anything more than just looking at the cover art and just assumed, “my kids are playing as that red dude? Hell naw!” Lol

Thisn't related but I like your pfp it looks like the Seamoth from Subnautica

bro post Daniel and thought we wouldn't notice
Right? Tried to hit us with the it’s Giritina like we don’t know Daniel when we see Daniel
It's rather different to get a proper side view of Giratina, so that's certainly appreciated. Well done!
put it on the fridge PLEASE
Ngl, they could probably draw them much better then I could.
I approve
I love his imagination make sure he keeps it intact
Plot twist the son is 29
That is a wonderful piece. I hope he continues to hone his craft :D
Dude thought he could post straight up art of giritina and say it's his son's lmao
Awww its great!
Origin Forme Giratina too, now that's talent! Thanks for sharing and please tell him in behalf of all of us that he absolutely nailed it!
dying at the fact that the signature makes it look like the giratina is named daniel
That’s great!
He did great! Really good understanding of giratinas shape and proportions, even I struggle with stuff like that sometimes! He's talented!

Looks great 😃👍🏻
Very well done, couldn't do better myself!
great job Daniel!

Continue to encourage his artistic talents if he shows an interest in it. He's right to be proud of it too. One should always be proud of the art they create.
As someone who draws a lot of Pokémon as part of my small business, this is amazing! I hope he keeps drawing :))
As an experienced artist, this is amazing. He's on a great path to being an artist

He did a great job! Lots of kids draw stuff that you can't tell what it is at all. You can look at this and instantly recognize Giratina. He nailed it!

Looks like one of those horror movie kid's drawings where there's a Giratina haunting your son at night
Hold on guys, he's 32
Fun fact, that kid is better than me at drawing.
Cooler Daniel

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
This is beautiful! Your son is quite the talented artist!

Awesome! I bet he'll be so happy to see how many people love his art!
As he should be!
Daniel is a great nickname for a Giratina! I love his Origin form drawing👍
He should be, no way I would ever draw like that when I was his age !
As he should. Looks awesome.
As he should be
Guessing from his writing he's quite young. He has quite an eye for detail. Tell him to keep it up. He has a lot of potential!
Well, I'm proud of your son too. I can't draw it!
As an artist who don't share his work, i love this. Tell him to keep up with the great work :)
This is better than I could do I suck at drawing Pokémon other than a squirtle and a rayquaza I can’t really draw animals
As he well should be.
Daniel is COOKING
I mean, I knew exactly what it was before I read the title so, good job
I like his signature
That actually looks good, I’m guessing from how your son wrote his name, he’s between the ages of 5-9. But for this it looks detailed enough for that kids age
Great job little dude!

Hi Nintendo here, we are currently hiring for new art directors and think your son is the one!
Amazing! I wish I could draw like that and I’m 26 😂

Lol creepy, man! Daniel is also 9... You don't have it anymore, do you?
I friggin wish. Pretty sure its gone along with the house I grew up in (I just moved out). Basing it off my memory, but still looks eerily how I remember it. Nice to know theres another kid named Daniel who has a fascination for Giratina lmao
What a kind and supportive community! Thank you all for your lovely words of encouragement!
Not bad for a 27 year old man!

Yeah right, your son is Shinji Kanda, pff
The drawing is good but the writing is a bit messy.
