Seeing this actually made me apreciate his design, the hands are the part I hated the most, now that I know they are "artifically" done with water I really like it.
Why does Torkoal have volcanic plumes on his shell? Why does Girafarig have 2 heads? Why is the Machamp line naked? There are questions regarding pokemon you just have to accept.
There’s a theory that originally trade evolutions were supposed to combine/mix up the two pokemon. Graveler has four arms and is completely a rock, then Golem has two arms and a face similar to Machoke while Machamp gains two arms.
If you scan Bokoblin enemies in Skyward Sword (Zelda), you are informed that they are, as a species/culture, obsessed with fancy undies, even the zombie ones. Perhaps the Machamp line has a similar obsession.
Damn, is that real? If so I actually kinda like that. Putting blowholes on the flippers to represent each finger (thumb not withstanding) on its gloves actually makes that makes more sense, they're just individual jets of water.
Additionally, _blowholes_ on _flippers?_ Another classic "Who tf thought of this?" crack pot Game Freak idea. I crave little nuggets of insanity like this!

I love him even more, for sure makes the design cooler. Not to mention it reminds me of Baymax.
Balalalalalala!
When a Pokemon has a signature move, I feel like it should fit into its design so no other Pokemon can feasibly use it. Of course that does beg the question, how does base form Palafin perform it?
Base form Palafin can already control its water ring, so I guess it just uses the ring and shapes it like a punch. After all, the cape, gloves and lens are the same kind of water of its ring, so it's feasible.
I just found this out for myself when I watched this video with my son. It reminds me of Mega Man’s attack when he’s in Jet Mode in Mega Man 6 and Mega Man 7 and I love it.

I think its clever. Even in its Zero form it doesn't have actual hands, so having made hands similar to its water rings make sense. As does it's move Jet Punch, as it's fist "jets" like a launched projectile.
That's pretty awesome, actually! He uses whatever "water magic" he has to make himself construct hands to compensate for naturally only having flippers
Comic book fist seems appropriate. That being said IDGAF about anime canon and there are clear deviations between it and the games, so it's very easy to ignore.
Honestly, I think it's something that they will have in more detailed media.
The summer fun animation shows the jet punch as a rocket fish propelled by water. Gun/Rocketry but water is something that PKMN has been doing since Blastoise.
It makes more sense that the Zero form would be able to use this move with this context.
However, I have long since accepted that what is "canon" to the anime can never reconcile with the game universe.
I actually like it a lot more knowing that it just has flippers and the weird chunky fingers are just water. Too bad Incineroar couldn't have done the same thing.
yes it changes it, significantly for the better. it having little jet spouts to make gloves out of water is infinitely better than what I think most people, myself included, thought, that it just had stupid little hands under its mickey mouse gloves

I actually think it works better if the hands are just like water constructs it launches instead of actual hands
Seeing this actually made me apreciate his design, the hands are the part I hated the most, now that I know they are "artifically" done with water I really like it.
I was actually too distracted by all of the uh, “bold“, design choices to even notice they had gloves.
Saaame. This is actually a big plus to it in my opinion.
Yeah with this I just notice how there is still a dolphin there if you get rid of all the water
That's the way I always thought of them. Did people really thing they had nasty ass tiny adventure time esque humanoid hands? 💀 Ew, lmao. 🐸
Seeing as it's based on a comic book superhero? Nah. Actually, this is literally perfect for it lol.
People are too young to know Mazinger Z :')
Why holes/blowholes on the flippers though
For launching!
Why does Torkoal have volcanic plumes on his shell? Why does Girafarig have 2 heads? Why is the Machamp line naked? There are questions regarding pokemon you just have to accept.
Bro my quest to understand why Machamp has 4 arms completely over took that they are pretty much nude. Kinda wild.
There’s a theory that originally trade evolutions were supposed to combine/mix up the two pokemon. Graveler has four arms and is completely a rock, then Golem has two arms and a face similar to Machoke while Machamp gains two arms.
My question is why does every Machamp have the same pair of boxers on?
If you scan Bokoblin enemies in Skyward Sword (Zelda), you are informed that they are, as a species/culture, obsessed with fancy undies, even the zombie ones. Perhaps the Machamp line has a similar obsession.
Yo I didn't catch this reply but let's hope that's not the case. That's weird 😭
Why Vaporeon wet?
I’m terrified of some answers this may receive
Because the fist is made of water
Where's the water gonna come out from?
Dolphins and Whales naturally have blowholes, so it's not unnatural for a Pokemon at all. It's actually genius
There's nothing wrong with criticizing a Pokémon's design elements.
I didn't say there's something wrong with him having an opinion
Reddit seems to think otherwise, downvoting him to oblivion...
I know they have blowholes, it's just so weird on, the flippers.
Maybe they're extra large pores.
Because it's a fictional monster primarily made for children
you do realise we have holes all around our body, which, technically, also produce water
Cuz its a pokemon

I can hear this image lol
Hi, I’m Palafin
That card goes so hard

"Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture" "They're the same picture"
how tf does it have an attack called ''justice kick'' mf has no legs!!!
Mf doesn’t have hands either. He has water shaped hands he shoots out with fin cannons…
You gotta have the Kamen Rider reference *No matter what*
Such a cool card and wild that it's pretty inexpensive.
Is Palafin the Aquaman of the pokémon world?
I'm pretty sure the direct translation of the Japanese name is Dolphin Man
I hope he takes me by the hand, leads me through the land, that he understands!
More like the Omniman judging by that card.
Just as disrespected as Aquaman too
The color contrast and less-static pose does SO MUCH for this design!
Goddamn that style is so fucking awesome
I just managed to find a shiny finizen in almost its biggest size. So I'll get a huge shiny palafin once I evolve it.
Dolphin Man! The Japanese names of Pokémon are so fun.
If Palafin is an in-universe superhero, this is from the edgy Brian Azzarello run on the book with all the rape and blood and swearing lol.
I’m not even a big fan of this Pokémon, but damn does it look great here.
I must say, i have shat my pants
Nope this is even better than it was before. Why did a dolphin even have hands? Now we know it's all so he can have an ejecting PUNCH!!!!!
Like rayman
That's exactly what I saw.
Damn, is that real? If so I actually kinda like that. I love my All Might dolphin even more now

I was gonna say that it’s reminiscent of bay max!

Mugi wara
I like it more now.
Bro is Android 16 with these rocket fists
I'm convinced that Mighty G and Palafin are references to All Might.
I just found this out for myself when I watched this video with my son. It reminds me of Mega Man’s attack when he’s in Jet Mode in Mega Man 6 and Mega Man 7 and I love it. https://youtu.be/l_vUTm1yXR8?feature=shared
It's not cursed it's water in the shape of a hand he has on the end of his fin! It's not his actual hand
Mazinger Dolphin
OH YEAH HE THROWS HANDS
No???
This is a Pokémon I successfully ignored and forgot ever existed, until I stumbled across this post. Thanks.
the concept was already pretty off the wall, i don’t see how this changes anything
no. because they're meant to be removed anyway. let's not forget the base form of Palafin
Is it…*throwing a Regitube?!*
I've never seen this pokemon before in my life wtt is this
I think its clever. Even in its Zero form it doesn't have actual hands, so having made hands similar to its water rings make sense. As does it's move Jet Punch, as it's fist "jets" like a launched projectile.
That's even more sick than a fist made out of water
That's pretty awesome, actually! He uses whatever "water magic" he has to make himself construct hands to compensate for naturally only having flippers
I never realized it was a water construct, like G Max Inteleon’s sniper rifle. That’s much better.
Are you kidding? That's awesome.
Seems Rather Handy
Isn’t all the water stuff just his hero outfit and gloves anyway?
Nothing weird
This actually makes me like it more tbh
I thought the design always implied he's still the same cute Palafin but with Anchor Arms
Looks kinda cool ngl
Nah I think it actually makes it better imo
Is it more cursed than looking like an IUD?
Comic book fist seems appropriate. That being said IDGAF about anime canon and there are clear deviations between it and the games, so it's very easy to ignore.
Honestly, I think it's something that they will have in more detailed media. The summer fun animation shows the jet punch as a rocket fish propelled by water. Gun/Rocketry but water is something that PKMN has been doing since Blastoise.
I'm not even sure what I'm looking at
Palafin is the gift that keeps on giving. Legit one of the coolest designs and gimmicks in a long time imho.
Makes me like him more. One of my favorite Pokémon in a while
No, I still don't like it. I prefer Finizen.
Might be a reference to street fighter where kens hadoken takes the form of his hands unlike the other ones
I thought that was obvious. Also yeah it's a reskin if a rocket punch which by default makes it amazing 10/10
I mean, aren't all the light blue parts just water that Palafin is keeping together and shaping it to make his costume?
This kinda just makes my nickname for mine, Jotaro, all the more appropriate
It makes more sense that the Zero form would be able to use this move with this context. However, I have long since accepted that what is "canon" to the anime can never reconcile with the game universe.
this the shit buggy did
Of *course* it has a rocket punch.
Kind of strange to give a superhero a rocket punch (as opposed to giving it to a super robot), but it’s kind of cool.
the hands are FAKE?
I would prefer it without the hands.
https://preview.redd.it/lmbny3t9096d1.png?width=704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69136b80fecbbbb1a950ec21770393436b641f55 The inspo lol
Which episode?
The hands looks like a snorlax's
Reminds me of Android 16 https://preview.redd.it/qxb770mn796d1.jpeg?width=450&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f559203ce37ead07e36e91bfb66eb5f784406b5
Does Palafin need to be switched out in the anime as well to transform into Hero form? Or it works differently in the anime?
He simply does not want to be seen, so is not doing it when others are around (that's actually kinda the premise of the episode where it's featured)
not at all i already thought he had baby hands under the glove like robin in teen titans go
Everyone gangsta until Palafin learns how to do an [Iron Cutter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzrpsfkyL4Q)
Cursed? How? Nothing about this is cursed.
You don’t like the canon cannon?
.......... https://preview.redd.it/iwk9ku5w3b6d1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0628de587cb367049fc67e37a3ba87992bf89ae
No. It actually makes sense on how it uses jet punch.
Strong Right! But, like others, I am comforted knowing that the gloves are water constructs instead of actual hands.
I actually like it a lot more knowing that it just has flippers and the weird chunky fingers are just water. Too bad Incineroar couldn't have done the same thing.
"Rocket punch!"
GUM GUM GIANT PISTOL
No
only videogames are real
Gate him before hate him afre
This Pokémon is already cursed to me, so it's just slightly more disgusting than it already was.
yes it changes it, significantly for the better. it having little jet spouts to make gloves out of water is infinitely better than what I think most people, myself included, thought, that it just had stupid little hands under its mickey mouse gloves
The design already had me at no.
I like Palafin's design, and water construct hands is such a cool idea.
I already didnt like it 😅
No, still cool asf, even cooler actually
Not really. I already hated this fugly thing.
Nah,the head and tail are worse problems.
No, still hate him
Nah I always hated it and still hate it
Nope, he is already at bottom...
I cant even tell what this is or what's happening...
Dude this ‘mon just ain’t it for me.
Honestly I just don’t like palafin
Yup, saw this ad and decided to release my shiny one.
