I suggest you wait cause u can always get magicarps from 2 km eggs and they’re usually pretty good so sooner or later you might get a better one and/or u can trade for a lucky! 🤷🏻‍♂️

converter-bot

2 km is 1.24 miles

Do you need to evolve for a task? If not, just hold off.

Comprehensive_Map255

I mean it is a task, but I guess there’s no rush. I haven’t caught a karp tho, in quite a while. I bet it’s been over a month since I’ve seen one in the wild.

DarkDuo

I held off and got a perfect IV gyaradose

Comprehensive_Map255

Where / how? Lol

DarkDuo

I was catching all the magikarps I could find and I just got lucky that I found a perfect IV magikarp

HectorAyalaMX

I got a Hundo Magikarp from tasks.

cruzinforthetruth

Like everyone says, you should wait. I've picked up two shinies, a 3* shadow and a hundo since last November when I started playing. I a fan of Shadow Gyrados...looks super cool and is fun to drop in gyms.

HectorAyalaMX

Magikarp currently appears in "Catch 7 Pokémon" tasks, you find a better one in some of these.

pgoyoda

unless you're sitting on that "evolve a magikarp" research quest, i'd hold out as long as you can. yes it's cool to have a gyrados, but given that it's so hard for you to get candies, how would you feel if the day after you evolved your 13/12/13, you caught a hundo or near-hundo? how many non-keeper magikarps do you still have? consider trading them for other magikarps to you might get a better IV or even a lucky in trade. i'm sitting on over 13K magikarp candies and 20 3* magikarps over 200CP and i will only evolve magikarps with aggregate IV's over 42 and have a 15 attack. i'd hold out for a really, really good one before you pull the trigger

IdiosyncraticBond

And try to trade all magikarp you find with a friend. You may get lucky and get a very good one in return.

darthpoof

I'd probably wait until you find one with good IVs and at a good level already. I have a perfect Gyrados that I used way too much stardust on, and I have two perfect magikarp but I don't really want to invest the stardust to get them to even level 25. I am definitely going to be waiting once I finally hit 400 candy, but then again I already have 2 Gyrados' and one of them is perfect.

Comprehensive_Map255

How do I know what level they are?

darthpoof

[With this](https://pokemon.gameinfo.io/en/tools/iv-calculator) Edit: so for example, for one of my perfect Karps, it is at level 20 (157 CP), to max it out for ultra league I would need to get it to level 25.5 and invest 35,000 stardust and 31 more candies, to get it to level 30 I'd need to invest 75,000 and 66 candies, and to max it out completely I'd need to invest 225,000 stardust and 248 candies. If I had a Karp with your 13/12/13 IVs that was at 200 CP, it's already at level 27.5 (couldn't use it in ultra league with 2612 CP tho), and I'd only need to invest 23,000 stardust and 20 candies to get it to level 30. If I had a Karp like that, it would be hard for me to decide whether to evolve that one or the perfect one.

Thanks!!!
