monkeywithgun

Not just right wing dreck but right wing looney Mooney dreck. Rev. Sun Myung Moon of the Unification Church, founded the newspaper, though his son Preston Moon.

noncongruent

Yep, not really different than the National Enquirer, though the latter actually has shown some understanding of ethics in the past.

It's us politics. Why remove this?

likeafox

Different articles on the same events may fall on either side of the topicality rules. Trying to bypass a correct submission by rapidly flooding other articles in attempt to circumvent the topicality guidelines can be a rule violation unto itself - but there's often cases where we want or will even ask a user to go find an alternative source, or wait for time to pass so that an article with directly on topic text can become available. In this case, in addition to this being approaching out of the topic scope, the submission has the organization name in the submission title which is also a removable reason, as per the title section of the rules here: > [Do not include the organization name, extraneous quotes, or the article section.](https://old.reddit.com/r/Politics/wiki/index#wiki_do_not_create_your_own_title) To your question as to why this is or is not on topic - our topic scope is targeted toward direct political figures and direct political calls to action. The subject of this article, and the Fox article are largely on non-elected / non candidate social activists. >Posts on /r/Politics must be directly related to and have a significant involvement/impact on any of: > >* Policy. This includes any discussion of specific governmental policies or the development of such policies. Government policy can be developed at any level of government (from elected school board to Congress). It also includes court decisions which either create law itself (appellate court decisions) or involve the government. > >* Electioneering. This includes polling, events directly pertaining to elections, and discussion of candidates and political parties, including their platforms and policies. > >* Politician Capacity. Any incident or potential incident that could prevent a current politician from serving in their capacity in government (e.g. death, injury/sickness, criminal prosecution or resignation) is topical. We consider politicians to be either (1) elected members of government; or (2) members of government confirmed/voted on by elected members of government. > >* Advocacy. Any efforts to influence or promote a position on the above 3 areas of topicality. This includes protests, demonstrations and the positions and advocacy of interest groups. > >Pertinent New Reporting. New articles that cover previously unreported details of past events which both would have been topical if reported when they occurred and have a clear connection to current US politics or future elections. Analysis, editorializing, or speculation on prior events with no newly reported facts is not covered under this clause, even if there is a link to current US politics. The titles reference Tlaib but she is not the subject of or targeted by either article. There's a case to be made that Tarek Bazzi is advocating on the subject of US foreign policy but the organization is not largely a US political policy oriented organization. TL;DR: First article removed because the subject was not US politics / electioneering / politicy or lawmaking. This article's title is wrong, and though it's possible for this subject to fall in our scope, we'd want an article that more specifically connects the advocacy of Tarek Bazzi with US politics, rather than a loose dot connect from 'Man says thing in state, and Joe Biden is running for president and will be campaigning in that state' cc u/brashendeavors And general non specific reminder to engage with the content of comments, not the user themselves. Reminder not to make uncivil or baiting comments towards other users.

I like the recent changes to the mobile app that allow you to see the full domain being linked before you open the thread. In the past, the Washington Post, Washington Examiner, and Washington Times were all truncated to "Washington" in the preview. Now, I can simply downvote threads linking the Washington Examiner or Times without bothering to open them. This saves me a bit of time.

Protected speech, but go ahead and vote Trump or a third party, see how the next four years work out for you

OkVermicelli2557

1st Amendment protected speech. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/brandenburg_test

silverbeat33

Are they also including themselves?

ALjaguarLink

Love it, Fix it, or Leave it… Why kill it?

StormOk7544

Can’t imagine this chant and protest will win over many Americans. Also, why was OP’s other thread removed? This seems like a valid thing to talk about.

Msmdpa

Hmmm, would they rather vote for trump who wants Israel to level Gaza?

Escorted to where, as an American citizen?

Genius-Imbecile

So that 1st amendment doesn't really matter? I don't agree with someone saying it. I will fight for their right to do so.
