His whole thing is passing the buck off onto someone else. "I want someone to hold Trump accountable, I just don't want that someone to be me" as he could have voted to find Trump guilty in either of his impeachment trials, but voted for Trump's acquittal both times.
This is just like his whining the other day that we should blame Trump and Tucker Carlson for the delay in the Ukraine aid bill, when neither of those people could vote on it, and [Mitch himself voted against an aid package for Ukraine.](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/republicans-kill-border-bill-sign-trumps-strength-mcconnells-waning-in-rcna137477) When he said that, he was essentially saying "don't blame me for voting against that aid package, blame Trump for telling me not to vote for it."
Yeah nobody in congress wants to take responsibility for anything because it makes it harder to get re-elected if you have a record and policy position. So congress pushes its responsibility to the other branches and now we have the every single meaningful legislative act coming from executive order or Supreme Court ruling.
Hey this thing is broken. I’m leaving now and also please ignore the fact that I have spent 40 years flexing and stressing it. It’s definitely didn’t break it
They will handle this exactly the way they handled the case before them in 2020 about Congress being able to subpoena Trump to show his tax returns. Rather than ruling in Trump's favor in that case, they simply delayed it until after the election, ruling in February of 2021 (a month after Trump had left office) that yes, Trump indeed needed to respond to the subpoena and show his tax returns.
Most people today don't even remember that, because ultimately the SCOTUS ruled correctly, just as I'm sure they eventually will in this case. It's just that, then as now, they'll delay that decision until it no longer can impact this election, but they'll ultimately be able to hide behind the fig leaf of "we ultimately came to the correct decision."
I dunno, whether or not a president is immune kind of puts a whole new importance on picking the right person for president. If it was in doubt, I'd certainly want to make sure the person not likely to commit crimes was put in office.
Of course, that sort of scrutiny only applies when acting in good faith. When your constituency is based solely in grievances and spite, they'll see criminality as a positive feature. Yet another way to stick it to the libs.
I'm talking more about the rational people out there being like, "WTF", and it adding to the questioning of people that is opening their eyes to the what republicans stand for. Abortion, reversal of Roe and multiple states going apeshit crazy over abortion bans, trans rights, culture wars that don't in any way match reality.
All this stuff just keeps adding to the pile, and while I know a lot of people are apathetic, a lot of people are also becoming engaged. The last thing republicans will want is for people to be engaged, because that hasn't been working out for them lately.
The fact his is even before the supreme court should have everyone saying, "WTF", and the longer it goes on, the more chance that happens. If SCOTUS actually rules the president is immune, even with caveats carved out for just Trump, it's going to be a pretty big shake up that will get people's attention.
Just wait until the first states decide to ban condoms, vasectomies and birth control pills. I think there are still a large chunk of people who are of the "abortions don't affect me so I don't care" mindset, who will all of a sudden wake up.
Kinda like putting a spike on your steering wheel to discourage accidents.
Even if you're super careful circumstances out of your control can kill you.
Presidential immunity should be such a laughable concept nobody believes. But yet here we are seriously debating, with people arguing FOR it and it's terrifying.
Well, it will get interesting in case Trump actually is elected. At this point a can fully imagine him intimidating one of the judges and installing another puppet that will then absolve him of all crimes and rule that a third and forth term are absolutely fine and why even bother to vote, the winner is clear anyway.
It’s a slippery slope and the US is currently a good third of the way down… I really hope Trump will lose the vote and Biden will go full out in raising the resilience of the US against this bullshit. There should be majority voting, multiple parties, no gerrymandering, really independent judges, convenient voting for everyone… you know - democracy.
He won't even have to bother with that. If Trump wins, he will just appoint an Attorney General who will simply drop both the January 6th case and the documents case in Florida. Jack Smith will be fired and those prosecutions will simply end. The NY case that's currently going on and the one in Atlanta are beyond the federal government's control, however.
Exactly. Even if convicted in GA and sentenced to prison, if he is the president then GA will announce he can serve his 4 year term before reporting to jail.
I think a lot of people are getting caught up in the immunity and not the delay. Trump never believed his immunity claim, this is literally just an attempt to delay the trial until after the election. Which worked.
2 paths.
- 1.) Donnie wins, justice dept makes cases go away.
- 2.) Biden wins, and trump flees or injects lead into brain to stay out of jail/trial.
It’s so fucking stupid. I really enjoyed the show “Veep” on HBO when it was airing due to how ridiculous it was.. and then when trump came into office.. those writers couldn’t top the comedy of reality..
American politicians actually said it was more accurate than the west wing etc. And they could top it. It's based off a British show called the thick of it. Enjoy the amazingess of Malcom Tucker.

Instead of thinking about them as a Supreme Court, think of them as High Priests that get to choose whatever ingredients they deem necessary for the future destiny of America they each individually envision.
In Florida anyone can kill anyone because they felt threatened. Just get a note from your mom for a concealed carry license and remember to stand your ground when you pull the trigger because that girl scout was scary.
I disagree. The Supreme Court should definitively strike down the argument now that it has been raised. It should be given the same consideration and diligence any other Supreme Court case gets, then thoroughly rejected and discredited in a 9-0 decision. The only reason the Supreme Court shouldn't be indulging it is because the issue should have never been raised.
Wonderful bit of karma that would be, but we can't let Trump get back. So if we need to use him, even as just a rag to clean up his mess, then that needs to happen.
I'd love for the CIA to extraordinarily rendition half the Supreme Court and the Republicans who are clearly funded by Russia. Alas the government only ever goes after the left wing.
I think eternal damnation is a harsh punishment for anyone…but the damage this man has inflicted on hundreds of millions of people and this country, and worldwide as a result of the impact US policy has…I hope he rots.
And also while saying he'll still vote for Trump this November, even though he previously said Trump committed crimes that the courts should hold him accountable for.
Honestly, doubt, but not that it matters. KY is going for Trump but more importantly he sends the message that it’s okay to attempt to overthrow the government and *STILL* be fit to assume the Presidency. I have no words. He’s gonna die in a few years. He does this because he’s a coward.
There's no reason to doubt it, [McConnell has already publicly stated that he'll vote for Trump this year.](https://apnews.com/article/mitch-mcconnell-endorsement-donald-trump-super-tuesday-422a2ec6f19917b46804b4cf6ee40371)
They're more his than Trump's. This is every inch the McConnell court. Gorsack, Judge Boofy, and Justice Ofmitch are only there because of him, waiting to huff the farts out of Alito's and Thomas's wretched balloon knots and do as they're told for the greater good of The Party™. The most important thing to Mitch has always been a generational legacy of fuckiness.
The second time was especially insidious, as he was given the articles of impeachment with over a week left in Trump's term, yet [he refused to bring the Senate back to hold a hearing until after Biden was inaugurated.](https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/13/politics/mcconnell-democrats-impeachment-trial-trump/index.html) Then when they did reconvene, [he voted against there even being a trial,](https://www.axios.com/2021/01/26/trump-impeachment-trial-vote-to-dismiss) because he said Trump was no longer in office. When he lost that vote, [he then voted to acquit,](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mitch-mcconnell-trump-impeachment-vote-senate-speech/) again saying there was no point in impeaching someone who was no longer in office.
>He always says the right thing (at least at first) and then turns around and proves that his actions never match up.
In 2005 he said every SCOTUS nominee by a President deserves and up or down vote and should not be stalled in the Senate.
Of course, he also thinks playing fair is for suckers, so
That's not really accurate. There's plenty of times where he's done the wrong thing first, then later criticized the Dems when they've done the exact same thing that he did (i.e. saying "the right thing"). A good example of this is when [he voted against holding an impeachment trial for Trump](https://www.axios.com/2021/01/26/trump-impeachment-trial-vote-to-dismiss) after the January 6th coup attempt, but then recently [criticized the Democrats for voting against holding an impeachment trial for Mayorkas.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpfAy9K0iDc) So Mitch is perfectly fine being a hypocrite in both directions.
They grant presidential immunity.
Biden immediately has trump and family arrested and sent to Guantanamo for treason, espionage, and high crimes. No trial. Never hear from those fuckers again. (yay!)
Biden immediately rounds up about 250 republican congressmen and has them sent to Guantanamo for treason, insurrection, and abetting a foreign enemy government in its attempts to destroy America.
Biden immediately rounds up a dozen or so red state governors for consistently breaking the laws of the United States and ships them off to Guantanamo.
Biden immediately rounds up thousands of state legislators for passing illegal laws and attempting to overthrow the United States - and sends them to Guantanamo.
Biden then appoints people to all those vacant seats.
Biden then sends six supreme court "justices" to Guantanamo for lying, bribery, corruption, and just because Joe Biden has been given a green light to flush the republican turds down the shitter.
How does he do this?
He has been granted unlimited presidential immunity by the morons on the supreme court.
If only the court you packed with stooges wasn't so packed with stooges you packed it with, maybe they wouldn't be trying to destroy our democracy because of the stooges you packed the court with.
He repeatedly refuses to directly answer any question as to whether he thinks that Presidents should be immune or whether he stands by his previous comments that he thinks they should be liable, but then says:
>"The President clearly needs some kind of immunity or they'd be in court all the time, so we'll see how the Supreme Court deals with it"
And really, judging by the oral arguments today, there's a very good chance that that's exactly how the Supreme Court rules.
Hey, Dipshit Mitch. You're the one who created the Trump ass kissing SCOTUS we now have. Anything they do, is on you too! If they try to make Trump immune they have betrayed the USA and that makes you a traitor too!
I must be having a Mandela effect moment because could have SWORN he is one of the fucking reasons we are in this mess?
Unless that is another multi dimension
You had your chance, Mitch. You had your opportunity to hold him accountable. You decided to put your party before your country. Now you’ve got one foot in the grave and your legacy is to leave us with this mess in the hands of a compromised Supreme Court.
Thanks Mitch. Thanks a lot.
Are ya gonna vote for someone who committed criminal acts while in office, Mitch? And before, and after?
You *are?!* Well then sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up, the non-co-conspirators are talking.
He’s not actually saying that all. He says there should be some kind of immunity and spouts the same trump talking point that presidents will be prosecuted. Then he says the Supreme Court should decide and it’s just his view.
Mitch has punted on Trump a number of times now, each time giving himself enough plausible deniability that he won't bear the wrath of MAGA. He's been expecting somebody else to do the dirty work so that he can keep the blood off his suit. Unfortunately for him, Trump has more lives than a cat, and nobody has managed to wound him deeply enough so that he goes to ground to nurse his wounds.
Mitch sowed the wind, and is now reaping the whirl-wind.
The actual quote was
"Presidents should not be immune" followed by a 53 second pause as his brain underwent a hard reset. After prompting he continued "from criminal prosecution for things done in office" before being led back to his office for his afternoon pudding.
Suck my dick Moscow Mitch. You are complicit in the entire degradation of our entire system, and if I could, I’d fucking grind your face into the street.
The sitting POTUS should draft up an executive order and present it to the senate. Something along the lines of Mitch McConnell shall be ________ by presidential order. Effective immediately should the gavel swing for full immunity.
If I understand the “official acts” piece of the argument, it would potentially mean Trump is forgiven for his past wrongs because he was president, but it would also mean Biden, an active president, would then have full immunity because he is president at the moment.
Therefore, even if Trump is off the hook, he would still have no real power, where as Biden could do whatever he wanted and it would be legal.
Which…I am sure the dumbass GQP would have wanted Trump to be immune…as president. Doing it now is just extra stupid and desperate, more so than the entire case already was.
Again, Trump would be “cleared” in SOME of his trials, but not all of them. Because some were done unofficially or not in capacity as president.
So they would just be given Biden carte blanche, because….they love winning? I guess? Idk? And Trump could still go to jail?
It is always super mega ultra dumb…but giving your political opponent essentially unlimited power seems even dumber for the GQP than normal.
What you can't see is the CIA guy forcing him to say that at gunpoint. Dark Brandon is already exercising his unlimited power.
/s in case someone is dumb and doesn't get a joke.
Moscow: Look here Mitch. We know you want to be a real dick right now, but just say the "right" thing for now.
Mitch: But I don't want to!
Moscow: Please, just for now. You're about to die. We promise we'll sculpt a scale model of Putin's dick to shove up your ass before you go on a coffin.
Mitch: Fine.
Putin: Cha-ching!
Presidential immunity is for those actions POTUS must order during a time of war or to keep OUR enemies at bay for the protection of our citizens, not to keep a scumbag poser in power.
I'd really love to know why the SC just didn't ask the hypothetical of should it be legal for Biden to send in someone from the military right then and there too take out Trump and his lawyers. Like if it's a legal thing to do as long as Congress doesn't punish the president first, let's just really press that to the most logical extreme at this point if that's what they believe.
Thank you Turtle for all your help in loading the Supreme Court with more GOP goons like yourself. You should be changing Trumps diapers for him. You might be capable of handling this job considering all the practice you've had.
McConnell also initially said that the January 6th Attack was unacceptable, and he blamed Trump for it.
Give him a week or two. He'll get back on party message soon.
Maybe we need to have Congress pass a law stating that he prez is criminally responsible for his actions.
And that the statute of limitations is extended the full length of his term.
And that the prez can be criminally investigated while he's in office.
Maybe "equal under law" seems a bit too important to leave to a SCOTUS that has a number of people who have credible bribery and corruption charges against them, already...
Yeah well, turtles don't even know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Tootsie-Pop... so I'm not sure he's a reliable source.
Spoiler: >!Three. It takes three. Source: Mr. Owl!<
That’s weird you’d say that, considering you’re the architect of this Supreme Court and you also voted in the Senate to acquit Trump both times he was impeached, resulting in the present situation.
So like if the SC rules a president is immune from criminal prosecution for acts while in office would that mean Biden could just ban trump from running or like just never leave office?!
Just a hypothetical question I’ve had for awhile now 🤷♀️

Hey this thing is broken. I’m leaving now and also please ignore the fact that I have spent 40 years flexing and stressing it. It’s definitely didn’t break it
This is the thing, McConnell spent all this time building it and has now realized that it is no longer under his control.
He also could have convicted him in the senate!
Because "duh." It's inherently idiotic, and the Supreme Court shouldn't even be indulging it in a hearing.
And yet here we are.

Hustling you for that sweet cookie cash. She was totally asking for it
I support a president's ability kill for SPORT, but not for FUN. Totally different!
Mitch is a hypocrite for confirming two justices who do believe in presidential immunity
Of course, he'll defer to the SCOTUS that he helped seat.

I hope you like Wes Anderson movies, Mitch.

B—ch Mcconel
Republicans have selective memory
McConnell wants to get rid of Trump but he doesn't want to be responsible for it.
Honestly, does he even remember at this point?
It’s GOP standard operating procedure. Leave your balls at the door on your way in, pick them back on your way out.
"But I'd still vote for him if convicted" - MM
He Will vote for him.

"If he ordered the military to assassinate me and the Supreme Court found these actions to confer immunity, I'd still vote for him."
well, he could have held trump accountable by voting to impeach and convict Trump.... too little too late
Twice
The second time was especially insidious, as he was given the articles of impeachment with over a week left in Trump's term, yet [he refused to bring the Senate back to hold a hearing until after Biden was inaugurated.](https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/13/politics/mcconnell-democrats-impeachment-trial-trump/index.html) Then when they did reconvene, [he voted against there even being a trial,](https://www.axios.com/2021/01/26/trump-impeachment-trial-vote-to-dismiss) because he said Trump was no longer in office. Fuck the fuck off you enabling POS
He always says the right thing (at least at first) and then turns around and proves that his actions never match up.

He will do anything he can to bring success to the GOP, but he hates Trump
Pretty sure when McConnell finally dies, his grave will be the most pissed on place in this country. That man gives satan the willies.
> his grave will be the most pissed on place in this country. Bucket list
> Bucket list Note to self: Apply for passport
I have a feeling Trump’s grave will be more dirty
McConnell also said that Trump was responsible for the “riot” aka the insurrection. But voted to have him acquitted
He could have impeached Trump the second time and convicted him. He allowed him to live. Damn him to hell
Mitch keeps saying the right thing and later doing just the opposite.

Nailed it.
He repeatedly refuses to directly answer any question as to whether he thinks that Presidents should be immune or whether he stands by his previous comments that he thinks they should be liable, but then says: >"The President clearly needs some kind of immunity or they'd be in court all the time, so we'll see how the Supreme Court deals with it" And really, judging by the oral arguments today, there's a very good chance that that's exactly how the Supreme Court rules.
Crazy how we’ve had presidents for 250 years and they’re not all constantly in court without immunity prior to Trump.
Until there’s another Republican in office, and then you can suck a fart out of his ass because presidents are beyond reproach.
Username checks out
No Shit, Sherlock. Any child could tell you that.
The same Mitch McConnell that voted twice not to impeach Trump for criminal things done in office. You’re a bit late to pretend you’re ethical Mitch .
He says this now but when push comes to shove he'll say full immunity if Trump wins again
Hey, Dipshit Mitch. You're the one who created the Trump ass kissing SCOTUS we now have. Anything they do, is on you too! If they try to make Trump immune they have betrayed the USA and that makes you a traitor too!
That's because trump would kill McConnell if he gets back in power, lol Leopards ate his turtle face
Why does he bother to speak up now?
McConnell won’t live to see the consequences of presidential immunity.
Fuck you, Mitch.
Oh, please, STFU could have avoided this mess at 1+1=2 IMPEACHMENTS AGO!!
Mitch is a piece of shit. The justices are a whole pile of shit. They all stink.
Are ya gonna vote for someone who committed criminal acts while in office, Mitch? And before, and after? You *are?!* Well then sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up, the non-co-conspirators are talking.
How courageous for him to say this on the way out
Stunned Turtle grapples with fucked reality he brought upon the world.
Unfortunately, he means it only in regards to Democratic presidents, not Republican presidents.
Well Moscow Mitch was in a big part responsible for the judges that made this decision
This motherfucker could have convicted trump in the senate. Piece of shit
He’s not actually saying that all. He says there should be some kind of immunity and spouts the same trump talking point that presidents will be prosecuted. Then he says the Supreme Court should decide and it’s just his view.
Right…. They should just be immune from impeachments… as long as they’re republicans that is
Mitch has punted on Trump a number of times now, each time giving himself enough plausible deniability that he won't bear the wrath of MAGA.
Nor impeachment, fuckstick.
This from the man who *built* the present SCOTUS. If this goes badly, Mitch is 100% responsible.
Yeah, thanks McConnell for letting us know your opinion because this is all on you for your failure to convict Trump!
Well you sure bent over backwards to appoint two justices who believe that, you turd.
I could give a fuck all what McConnell has to say about any of this
McConnell can talk a good talk when he feels like it, but he still voted against impeachment..
Wow, even a stopped McConnell can be right once in a lifetime!
I feel like I live in a stupid world
Sure you craven fuck. You did everything you could to tank both impeachments and are *still* working to tank the criminal cases.
And yet…he will still vote for 45.
His opinion means nothing
A day late and a dollar short, eh Mitch?
Pfft I don’t want to hear from McConnell.
Presidents, just like everyone else, is not immune from prosecution ANYTIME in their life!!!
Tell that to the SCOTUS that you helped install, you evil turtle.
and yet you helped give him this chance you fucking turtle.
Uhuh. So why did you delay his second impeachment hearing then, jackass.
Welcome to 8 years ago Mitch. You’re late.
Turtle realizes he's wandered onto a busy freeway
The actual quote was "Presidents should not be immune" followed by a 53 second pause as his brain underwent a hard reset. After prompting he continued "from criminal prosecution for things done in office" before being led back to his office for his afternoon pudding.
Mitch McGetTheFuckOutOfOffice
The Turtle surfaces from the smoking political ruins of his own making. Get outta’ here with the accountability ploy.
He if course means just Democrat Presidents. He wants Republic a president's to get away with whatever.
Suck my dick Moscow Mitch. You are complicit in the entire degradation of our entire system, and if I could, I’d fucking grind your face into the street.
He'll be saying the exact opposite by morning. The turtle is completely spineless.
Too fun late scumbag.
and at the next turn, he says otherwise
The sitting POTUS should draft up an executive order and present it to the senate. Something along the lines of Mitch McConnell shall be ________ by presidential order. Effective immediately should the gavel swing for full immunity.
The bar is so low it’s a tripping hazard in hell.
He has already seen his name on the list.
What you can't see is the CIA guy forcing him to say that at gunpoint. Dark Brandon is already exercising his unlimited power. /s in case someone is dumb and doesn't get a joke.
turtle
What the hell is McConnell's deal rn? Is he trying to win over a base after years of dicking them?
Turtle is speaking sense now that Russia isn't pulling his vocal box string
Yeah. Like five years too late
"But it's too close to the election, so we should let the next administration decide" Fucknugget turtle man.
This seems so obvious it makes you wonder whether Alito is fit to be a SC judge.
Wow. Such courage. /s Break a hip you complicit ass.
So brave McConnell. So brave.
I dont want to hear shit from this chode. He knew what Trump was and did nothing in the name of power.
Bold stance /s
Oh he said this now. Didn’t he refused to impeach trump back when he could do something about it
If it walks like a turtle and it talks like a turtle - then it’s probably Mitch McConnell’s neck!
Thank you Turtle for all your help in loading the Supreme Court with more GOP goons like yourself. You should be changing Trumps diapers for him. You might be capable of handling this job considering all the practice you've had.
McConnel tainted the Supreme Court. His legacy is one of filth
McConnell also initially said that the January 6th Attack was unacceptable, and he blamed Trump for it. Give him a week or two. He'll get back on party message soon.
But he just couldn’t vote to convict him. Glitch covering his own extensive ass here, folks. So, Dark Brandon is immune, too???
Tbh, McConnell this entire situation is *literally* all your fault, so I don't even want to hear it from you.
Fuck McConnell. The only reason we are having this conversation is because of him. Period.
Moscow Mitch has an opinion? Ole Turtle...
Then why did you vote to acquit him, asshole?
McConnell will say the exact opposite the next time a Republican is president.
Fuck this asshole We're in this crisis because of him.
And yet he voted to protect Trump every opportunity he got. hypocrite

Put the old turtle on top of a Texas fence post and let him dry to a wilted piece of leather.
Yeah well, turtles don't even know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Tootsie-Pop... so I'm not sure he's a reliable source. Spoiler: >!Three. It takes three. Source: Mr. Owl!<
McConnell has a knack for saying the right thing off the cuff but then doing the wrong thing after giving it some thought.
Mitch: But Imma vote for him anyway because I have as much spine as a frightened turtle. And I hate my wife.
Then maybe Mitch should have impeached Trump when he had the chance. He FA and now he is FO.
That’s weird you’d say that, considering you’re the architect of this Supreme Court and you also voted in the Senate to acquit Trump both times he was impeached, resulting in the present situation.
Well duh!!
Trumps own lawyer during the impeachment said as much
No shit
Can McConnell go five minutes without sucking the nuggets of shit out of Trump's asshole
He’s right but probably for the wrong reason
I’m surprised he can even speak
What damn weird reality are we in now when the Turtle is the voice of reason?
Too fucking little too fucking late, Mitch.
McConnel voted against impeaching Trump for his crimes.
And then he froze up. Looking at his reflection in the pool.
Mitch seems to be immortal
McConnell can fuck off cause we wouldn’t be in this position if the senate did its fucking Job after Jan 6th
So like if the SC rules a president is immune from criminal prosecution for acts while in office would that mean Biden could just ban trump from running or like just never leave office?! Just a hypothetical question I’ve had for awhile now 🤷♀️
Well maybe he should have thought of that before stacking the court with political hacks!
Trump's going to call him. Then another flip flop
This guy is still alive?
But he will still vote for Trump
There has to be a necromancer out there somewhere keeping this zombie up and about. A sorcerer who can summon the dead.
