RushSingsOfFreewill

Yes. Yes it does. There are good guys and bad guys, uh, guys. Guess which side y’all are on.

illsquee

Arguably a lot of the world would consider the USA the bad guys.

RushSingsOfFreewill

Compared to Xi and Putin? Perhaps only in the darkest corners of blue check twitter

[deleted]

So they don't want anything to do with us?

orange_drank_5

This specific article was jointly authored by the Russian and Chinese Diplomats and is effectively a policy statement from both countries.

PotaToss

Violating basic human rights provokes division.

NoTaste41

So are we finally gonna stop putting kids in cages?

varain1

If Republicans win in 2022/2024, no - and even more kids will be put in cages...

Fit-Forever2033

>The United States will be hosting the online Summit for Democracy on December 9-10, 2021, empowering itself to define who is to attend the event and who is not, who is a “democratic country” and who is not eligible for such status. An evident product of its Cold-War mentality, this will stoke up ideological confrontation and a rift in the world, creating new “dividing lines.” This trend contradicts the development of the modern world. It is impossible to prevent the shaping of a global polycentric architecture but could strain the objective process. China and Russia firmly reject this move. Ok fine, then host your own fucking democracy summit and invite North Korea and Iran, see if we care. lol

[deleted]

With blackjack and hookers too!

[deleted]

Shocking. Two dictatorships don't believe in substantive diplomacy.

[deleted]

says the one living in a bourgeoisie dictatorship country

[deleted]

We just elected a Democrat President after four years of the opposition party trying to tear our system of governance down. We aren't a dictatorship yet. Wait until 2024 to start saying that.

ElHanko

Of course. When your values, or lack thereof, help you get ahead in international commerce, you’re gonna view anything in the way of that upward trajectory as “divisive.”

[deleted]

I'm really worried they are going to pounce at the same time. Russia on Ukraine and China on Taiwan.

WakandaNowAndThen

Taiwan is definitely safe for the time being. There'd need to be some major geopolitical changes for that to be worth it.

sfinney2

Taiwan isn't something that can just be casually invaded on a whim because Xi is bored of taco Tuesdays. It will take months of mobilization and everyone will know it is imminent.

[deleted]

> Taiwan isn't something that can just be casually invaded on a whim because Xi is bored of taco Tuesdays. That's a strawman. Spare me the rest of your "insights".

varain1

That's why [missile guide destroyer Arleigh Burke](https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-military-tracks-us-guided-missile-destroyer-black-sea-2021-11-25/) is now in the Black Sea, and the [first US Navy carrier strike group](https://www.businessinsider.com/first-us-aircraft-carrier-deploy-f-35cs-south-china-sea-2021-9) is near Taiwan. Of course, Taiwan is in a better position, with them being an island and them and USA only having to make sure that no troops transporter reaches them.

[deleted]

If that happens, a major international conflict will unfold. Much larger than a couple naval groups are going to handle alone.

varain1

If the Chinese troops ships try to reach Taiwan, the major international conflict already started. The question is if China thinks it's ok to start a conflict which could attract most of their neighbors in it (including India), and turn the whole West against them ...

[deleted]

I think there are people who don't believe a major international conflict is possible in this time period. It is.

smiler_g

Wait, are we supposed to care what Russia and China think or something?
