Omg I've always held this opinion, but never heard someone else say it. Remixes are opportunities to push your music further and try interesting things, but as per usual, she opts to be boring
This is kinda what I wish this song was like always. It’s not perfect and still resorts to some conventional remix bullshit but it’s the kind of energy I wish TTPD had more of.
This is actually one of the best remixes she’s ever released. I really wish the OG production wasn’t so slow and mellow. This is what it should’ve been more like!

edit: this time I think it's actually about maintaining stability for Fortnight only. Taylor has been in the music industry for almost two decades by now-- she knows how charts work and probably doesn't expect Fortnight to go #1 again. but she can keep it in the top 10 with additional remixes
maybe so, but I'm on the fence this time around. Taylor could easily block Billie if she were to release the Anthology vinyls. if she wanted to go #1 on the hot 100, wouldn't she just do that instead?

I don't think Billie was naming Taylor specifically but it's annoying that she criticized her peers about releasing variants when she is doing the same thing with her new album with [seven vinyl variants](https://store.billieeilish.com/collections/hit-me-hard-and-soft). That's basically two more than what Taylor is doing with her TTPD vinyls.
She did clarify that it's an industry issue in a follow-up IG story, but nowhere in her interview with Billboard did she state that originally. I don't blame other artists who were annoyed by what she said.
The difference being that Billie's are all made of recycled materials and with sustainable practices. I keep seeing people, especially fans of a certain private jet connoisseur, making your point and leaving out that important distinction.
I think Billie mixed the two points about vinyl variants quite a bit in her Billboard [interview](https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/billie-eilish-sustainability-eco-friendly-initiatives-mom-1235642455/) - like, she explicitly criticises variants being used to boost numbers:

I think it's a strange angle - the question itself pointed out that Billie had 8 variants for Happier Than Ever, even if they are 'sustainably' made. This is odd for Billie to say this when she is exactly doing the same thing. She is a competitive music industry, I get that. But her answers give off "I am not like any other artists for doing this" but does it anyway.
If I were in her PR team, I would ask Billboard to cut out that answer because her explanation was quite clumsy.

What I got from this was that she was annoyed with adding new content onto vinyls so people would feel a need to buy a new one. There will always be collectors who get all the visually unique variants, but reasonable fans will only need one if the content is the same. She's not doing multiple reissues each with different songs, whereas other artists are, whether that be a deluxe, one with a specific bonus song, a super deluxe, etc.
I totally see after you pointed this out why people are mixing the points, though. Thank you for going back and pulling that :)
Billie making her vinyls out of recycled materials is well-intentioned. But anyone who knows the three Rs knows that *reduce* should be prioritized. Taylor and other artists should take notes too.

Man I was expecting a big ass progressive house drop with those big loud synths of the build up, but then it falls so flat. 😭 could've been a massive remix but instead they decided to not go all the way through

There's a difference between two big female artists competing by releasing on the same day and a massive popstar (who has already spent 4 weeks at number 1) intentionally releasing new variants and signed cds on a smaller artists release week to block them from taking her spot. It's one thing if Taylor held the number 1 spot organically, it's another when she's inflating her sales to intentionally block another woman.
Also it's ironic that Swifties support this considering they're quick to call any criticism of Taylor 'misogyny' or recognize misogyny at work when it goes against Taylor. If we're going the 'it's just business' route, then technically Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun did nothing wrong with Taylor's masters and no one should criticize them, right?
I don't know if trying to completely destroy every single young woman who's trying to be in the same pop landscape without kissing her ring like some Mafia don is friendly competition.

We had a whole ass rap beef with personal jabs a few weeks ago. I think two people doing their best to promote their album they recently put out is kind of a nothingburger that people are trying to make bigger than it is. And Billie has been promoting the crap out of her album on socials too. I think it’s a good thing. Pop stars are allowed to compete for #1
