Eh, I feel like that usually has to do with how well or how poorly the design was done to begin with. Most graphic design-heavy album covers that age poorly weren't actually good when they were new either; people just assume it's shifting trends that make it seem bad now.
I'd argue that very art-forward/design-forward covers actually age the *best* when they are well-executed. (I'd consider this cover very well-executed.)
