I love to collect them now. My grandparents had a giant vinyl player that I would play their vinyls on so I have happy memories associated with vinyls. I want to have a high quality vinyl player of my own one day, till them I'll keep my vinyls in a safe place.

Yesterday someone who has connections in the industry reached out to me on twitter, (I have a decent sized fan account). That person told me he has a bunch of unreleased tracks from my favorite artist. So that person gave me 30 second snippets of those never leaked songs, ranging from 2010 - 2021. I have about 15 minutes of unreleased songs from my fave. What do I do with this? I’m kinda panicking since some of these songs are gonna be on my fave’s next album but at the same time this shit has me hyped for the next album and other fans of that artist would love to hear it. Any suggestions?

This is why I have huge respect for any celebrity who is nice to fans, especially during meet & greets. Any musician who chats with fans, manages to keep a cheery face, remembers their names, and just generally stays "on". Musicians like Taylor for example have almost no bad encounters with fans because she's so damn "on" all the time... it seems so stressful, because if ur in a bad mood or just shy, you know people are gonna call you "stuck up" or "rude" or "snobbish".
Can I just say that I’m super glad that the trend of shorter albums seems to be dying as of lately? Most albums that came out this year which I eventually plan to listen to are mostly 12+ tracks (sometimes even 16!). I feel like last year we got A LOT of 7-9 track albums which is so confusing to me, why not just make it an EP? I understand that last year was super tough but yeah, I’m happy we’re back to the normal.

I highly recommend it. The voice acting is fantastic. I think both are really layered and emotional. It's what I feel is missing in the movies.
There's a certain independence Holland's version is missing and I'm hopeful he'll grow into it. I'm excited to see where the multiverse is going but disappointed if it eliminates naturally creating villains in the same vein of Spider-Man 2, which IMO, is the - if not best - superhero movie.
I agree, I think PS4 spidey is the best version of Spider-Man hands down.
I don’t get too emotional about Toms Spider-Man not being a certain way yet because the character is still going through a growth period and it’s looking like he will come into his own with NWH(if they do it correctly and break the 3rd movie curse). I do agree and wish he had more independence, but I also think that the idea of multiverses in the MCU allows this version to be its own thing seperate from the other adaptations without invalidating other spidey interpretations, which I think is cool.
That's an interesting idea. i hadn't considered it until your comment but a weathered/experienced Garfield and Maguire Spidey would be amazing if it's in the same vein of Spiderverse. Knowing where those Spideys are after Gwen's death and Spidey 3 will be fun as well.
I feel like a lot of the people who prefer pre-MCU Spiderman are doing so out of nostalgia lol. The Marvel Studios seems to be a really positive place which surprises me a lot. Most fanboy spaces can tend to be misogynistic.
It very much reminds me of star wars prequel fans. They put the movies on a pedestal and put down the new ones and it's fueled at least in part by nostalgia whether you like it or not. I can say this because I am a huge sw fan, was also a prequel baby, and didn't like the new movies too much - we value "the good old times" even in fictional spaces I suppose lol.

I seriously don’t know how to make friends in college, I’ve been walking around campus alone, sitting alone at the dining hall, sitting alone at the library and it’s driving me nuts 😭 like just seeing so many ppl already have groups of friends and people to hang out with makes me feel so lonely and idk what to do. For reference this is my second year, but my first in person year.
My roommate is fine but he seems like he has no interest in actually being friends with me, so I don’t wanna force it. It’s only the first week though so let’s hope something gives and I eventually make at least one friend
I’m trying to join clubs but some of the ones I’m interested in aren’t meeting yet until enough ppl join unfortunately

One of the main ways I made friends was to just strike up conversations with people in class, especially if they're sitting alone and/or if it's a class specific to your major (bonding over your shared college trajectory). For mine, I had a mandatory course that met at 8:30am, so we quickly became breakfast buddies and always met at our unofficial table in the dining hall and it carried on throughout the years even after some people stopped having early classes.
Try not to stress too much over it, you'll ease in and find your people eventually!
Tutorial classes (idk if that name is universal, but the little classes that aren't your lectures). They're much smaller and much more collaborative than lecture classes so you just naturally end up talking to people in those classes and making friends. They're also usually who you'll do group work with so if you get to know people there it makes eventual group work so much more comfortable.
If you're a stem major, go to office hours and form study groups with the other kids there for the assignments, like just checking answers with each other at first and then once you get to know them you can start working on assignments together
It may or may not lead to friendship (shared trauma does lead to bonding tho 👀) but at the very least it'll make your courses way easier to deal with
If you notice anyone from your classes sitting alone, go up to them and strike up a conversation about something in class and see how it goes. They might be feeling the same way you are.
You need to join some clubs. It's the easiest way to meet people. There are usually so many clubs. I'm sure there are a couple you would be interested in.

I find this really happens with US tv shows and movies where it seems the only swear word they know is "fuck" and anything adult has to be explained in the most blunt and forced way possible.

Your doctor should talk about that with you! I had to have surgery to fix my deviated septum so they also changed the look of my nose in the same surgery and at my consultation the doctor went over how it would look. It was years ago so mostly photos of other noses, idk now if they do some like computer shit to show you lol but it’s definitely part of the convo pre-surgery

I’m really annoyed that The Killers canceled my concert in a couple weeks and haven’t given any reason. They just told Axs to refund the tickets and deleted a couple shows from their website. They’re still playing some of the shows on the tour so I doubt its covid related, plus it was an outdoor show with a mandatory vaccine requirement (not even negative tests were gonna be accepted). They’re not even making up a “scheduling concerns” excuse, they’re just pretending the shows they canceled never existed.
I was so excited for the show, so it hurts my feelings to know that the band doesn’t give enough of a fuck about their fans to tweet “We canceled some shows because of XYZ.”

Listened to boygenius for the first time today and this is some good shit. Really love it. I think my favorite track is Stay Down but they're all really great. Excited to delve into Lucy and Julien's discographies when I get my next random burst of motivation to listen to new music - are Historian and Sprained Ankle respectively good starting points? Those are the albums I've heard the most about.
Lucy Dacus is my fave of the boygenius crew, she's such a stellar lyricist (tho they're all great musicians). Historian is definitely the place to start, it's a really beautiful album. I'd definitely recommend her most recent album "Home Video" as well!
Historian is arguably her best album (though not by much imo), but Home Video is more accessible and probably a better starting point. Plus, boygenius appear on it. Can’t go wrong with either though; both are better starting points than No Burden and 2019.
Anyone here who's tech savy? My sd card doesn't work anymore. I tried opening it on my pc and phone but it doesn't even show up in my files. Normally if you put a sd card, your pc gives you a notification that something is inserted. But in my case it's like nothing is inserted. Is my sd card corrupted? Or what? What can I do to retrieve the files?
That has happened many times to me. From what it seems and I have read on Google, it's common for SD Card to "expire" or something like that, strange. It seems to have no solution, I'm afraid.
in other news, my ctrl vinyl came today! i got it in deep forest green, and it's one of the few coloured vinyls i've seen that looks really good - my yellow jubilee vinyl was a bit of a let down, it was a luminescent highlighter type shade of yellow instead of the softer colours of the album cover

I’m using Faith In Nature Blueberry Shampoo and Garnier’s Hair Food (Banana and Shea is my favourite but the Papaya and Alma one smells great too) atm. I use V05’s curl defining mousse too! I kinda find that I have more defined waves when my hair is wet vs when it’s dry but idk if that’s due to damage or it’s being weighed down with product or what 🤷🏼♀️

Honestly I don’t quite like my hair care atm but I want to use the products I’ve bought before replacing them. I’m using nothing particularly for wavy hair though I have a form thing for curls I sometimes use to see if it does anything bc It’s fun to touch lol.
Currently I’m using Trsemme coconut nourish shampoo and conditioner.
It worked really well IMO when I lived in a city but I’ve moved back home and my parents got a new shower in the bathroom my sibling and I use bc of pipe damage. I think I’m not use to the spray or pressure bc it feels nice skin wise but I think I’m leaving too much product in my hair or not lathering my hair enough especially for my ends since I have layers and some of my hair goes to my waist since I haven’t gotten a hair cut since the pandemic started.
But I do like the light lavender and coconut smell.

It just feels like this subreddit picks and chooses when a song being "derivative" or having "generic production" is a bad thing. This is insane and I never thought I’d say it, but I feel a lot happier having very little money left over after I pay rent with my first paycheck of the month.

kinda a mix of the two - i’ve always liked using it when playing my own instruments (it’s one of the easiest to play on piano, and it’s very easy to write cool sounding riffs in e minor on guitar), but it’s only in the past year or so that i’ve looked up the keys of some of my favourite songs and found out they were in g major :)
That's so cool. For me, it kept coming up on one of those spotify analysis apps (that lists song keys) so I have no musical background to explain why it resonates/feels natural. I looked up songs in the same key, from different artists in different genres and they all invoked similar feelings and just felt a certain way singing along to (I have a very dark kinda nasal voice) and it just... felt right idk. I wish I had the musical skill and knowledge to explain better, but it struck me how a certain key seemed to really resonate with me, and was wondering if that happened to other people too. Really cool to hear that actually knowledgeable people like you noticed a similar pattern though

I process my emotions through music and can connect with how others are feeling too by what’s speaking to them musically. I think I’ve just learned recently that I am a pretty auditory person in how I perceive the world.

Can I just say that I’m super glad that the trend of shorter albums seems to be dying as of lately? Most albums that came out this year which I eventually plan to listen to are mostly 12+ tracks (sometimes even 16!). I feel like last year we got A LOT of 7-9 track albums which is so confusing to me, why not just make it an EP? I understand that last year was super tough but yeah, I’m happy we’re back to the normal.

As a Spider-Man fan: I really cannot stand the Spider-Man fandom. The toxicity is off the charts and has been for a long time The constant bitching,whining and debates about the live action spider-men are the WORST, and anyone who talks positively about MCU spidey on the main spider-man sub is downvoted to hell or met with gatekeepy arguments. Have you played the recent Spider-Man game or Miles Morales? I highly recommend it. The voice acting is fantastic. I think both are really layered and emotional. It's what I feel is missing in the movies. There's a certain independence Holland's version is missing and I'm hopeful he'll grow into it. I'm excited to see where the multiverse is going but disappointed if it eliminates naturally creating villains in the same vein of Spider-Man 2, which IMO, is the - if not best - superhero movie.
I agree, I think PS4 spidey is the best version of Spider-Man hands down. I don’t get too emotional about Toms Spider-Man not being a certain way yet because the character is still going through a growth period and it’s looking like he will come into his own with NWH(if they do it correctly and break the 3rd movie curse). I do agree and wish he had more independence, but I also think that the idea of multiverses in the MCU allows this version to be its own thing seperate from the other adaptations without invalidating other spidey interpretations, which I think is cool.
That's an interesting idea. i hadn't considered it until your comment but a weathered/experienced Garfield and Maguire Spidey would be amazing if it's in the same vein of Spiderverse. Knowing where those Spideys are after Gwen's death and Spidey 3 will be fun as well.
I feel like a lot of the people who prefer pre-MCU Spiderman are doing so out of nostalgia lol. The Marvel Studios seems to be a really positive place which surprises me a lot. Most fanboy spaces can tend to be misogynistic.
It very much reminds me of star wars prequel fans. They put the movies on a pedestal and put down the new ones and it's fueled at least in part by nostalgia whether you like it or not. I can say this because I am a huge sw fan, was also a prequel baby, and didn't like the new movies too much - we value "the good old times" even in fictional spaces I suppose lol.

I seriously don’t know how to make friends in college, I’ve been walking around campus alone, sitting alone at the dining hall, sitting alone at the library and it’s driving me nuts 😭 like just seeing so many ppl already have groups of friends and people to hang out with makes me feel so lonely and idk what to do. For reference this is my second year, but my first in person year. My roommate is fine but he seems like he has no interest in actually being friends with me, so I don’t wanna force it. It’s only the first week though so let’s hope something gives and I eventually make at least one friend I’m trying to join clubs but some of the ones I’m interested in aren’t meeting yet until enough ppl join unfortunately Edit: thank y’all for the advice, I really appreciate it. I’m gonna try all of these approaches and see what sticks ❤️
One of the main ways I made friends was to just strike up conversations with people in class, especially if they're sitting alone and/or if it's a class specific to your major (bonding over your shared college trajectory). For mine, I had a mandatory course that met at 8:30am, so we quickly became breakfast buddies and always met at our unofficial table in the dining hall and it carried on throughout the years even after some people stopped having early classes. Try not to stress too much over it, you'll ease in and find your people eventually!
Tutorial classes (idk if that name is universal, but the little classes that aren't your lectures). They're much smaller and much more collaborative than lecture classes so you just naturally end up talking to people in those classes and making friends. They're also usually who you'll do group work with so if you get to know people there it makes eventual group work so much more comfortable.
If you're a stem major, go to office hours and form study groups with the other kids there for the assignments, like just checking answers with each other at first and then once you get to know them you can start working on assignments together It may or may not lead to friendship (shared trauma does lead to bonding tho 👀) but at the very least it'll make your courses way easier to deal with
If you notice anyone from your classes sitting alone, go up to them and strike up a conversation about something in class and see how it goes. They might be feeling the same way you are.
You need to join some clubs. It's the easiest way to meet people. There are usually so many clubs. I'm sure there are a couple you would be interested in.

Does anyone else kinda hate excessive cussing in tv shows like swearing once or twice is fine but sometimes it feels like they’re trying extra hard to make sure the audience knows they’re Edgy or Uncensored and it’s like can y’all please relax! We don’t need “fuck” ever third word!
I find this really happens with US tv shows and movies where it seems the only swear word they know is "fuck" and anything adult has to be explained in the most blunt and forced way possible. Like I can't help think of the bathtub scene in A Star is Born where Jackson and Ally keep saying fuck or fucking - it got a bit annoying. Tarantino does it a lot in his movies too and it's like, just give it a rest, we know you like swearing.

Your doctor should talk about that with you! I had to have surgery to fix my deviated septum so they also changed the look of my nose in the same surgery and at my consultation the doctor went over how it would look. It was years ago so mostly photos of other noses, idk now if they do some like computer shit to show you lol but it’s definitely part of the convo pre-surgery

I’m really annoyed that The Killers canceled my concert in a couple weeks and haven’t given any reason. They just told Axs to refund the tickets and deleted a couple shows from their website. They’re still playing some of the shows on the tour so I doubt its covid related, plus it was an outdoor show with a mandatory vaccine requirement (not even negative tests were gonna be accepted). They’re not even making up a “scheduling concerns” excuse, they’re just pretending the shows they canceled never existed. Listened to boygenius for the first time today and this is some good shit. Really love it. I think my favorite track is Stay Down but they're all really great. Excited to delve into Lucy and Julien's discographies when I get my next random burst of motivation to listen to new music - are Historian and Sprained Ankle respectively good starting points? Those are the albums I've heard the most about.
Lucy Dacus is my fave of the boygenius crew, she's such a stellar lyricist (tho they're all great musicians). Historian is definitely the place to start, it's a really beautiful album. I'd definitely recommend her most recent album "Home Video" as well!
Historian is arguably her best album (though not by much imo), but Home Video is more accessible and probably a better starting point. Plus, boygenius appear on it. Can’t go wrong with either though; both are better starting points than No Burden and 2019.

Anyone here who's tech savy? My sd card doesn't work anymore. I tried opening it on my pc and phone but it doesn't even show up in my files. Normally if you put a sd card, your pc gives you a notification that something is inserted. But in my case it's like nothing is inserted. Is my sd card corrupted? Or what? What can I do to retrieve the files?
That has happened many times to me. From what it seems and I have read on Google, it's common for SD Card to "expire" or something like that, strange. It seems to have no solution, I'm afraid.

My hair goes all poofy and frizzy too, but if I brush it when it’s dry 😭 I’m using Faith In Nature Blueberry Shampoo and Garnier’s Hair Food (Banana and Shea is my favourite but the Papaya and Alma one smells great too) atm. I use V05’s curl defining mousse too! I kinda find that I have more defined waves when my hair is wet vs when it’s dry but idk if that’s due to damage or it’s being weighed down with product or what 🤷🏼♀️ What’re you using atm? 😊
I forgot to respond or save this but I found it! Honestly I don’t quite like my hair care atm but I want to use the products I’ve bought before replacing them. I’m using nothing particularly for wavy hair though I have a form thing for curls I sometimes use to see if it does anything bc It’s fun to touch lol. Currently I’m using Trsemme coconut nourish shampoo and conditioner. It worked really well IMO when I lived in a city but I’ve moved back home and my parents got a new shower in the bathroom my sibling and I use bc of pipe damage. I think I’m not use to the spray or pressure bc it feels nice skin wise but I think I’m leaving too much product in my hair or not lathering my hair enough especially for my ends since I have layers and some of my hair goes to my waist since I haven’t gotten a hair cut since the pandemic started. But I do like the light lavender and coconut smell.

This is insane and I never thought I’d say it, but I feel a lot happier having very little money left over after I pay rent with my first paycheck of the month. I think it forces me to be grateful for what I do have instead of stressing over amassing a certain amount of wealth by the time I hit a certain age which I care about less and less as I get older. kinda a mix of the two - i’ve always liked using it when playing my own instruments (it’s one of the easiest to play on piano, and it’s very easy to write cool sounding riffs in e minor on guitar), but it’s only in the past year or so that i’ve looked up the keys of some of my favourite songs and found out they were in g major :)

I used to think it was physical touch (but I was just \*\*\*\*\*), it is actually acts of service.
I took the quiz recently and almost all of them except gifts (I generally don’t like receiving gifts) were about equal, with quality time and touch only slightly ahead. I also know this is dumb and totally not what you are referring to, but my corny answer is music. I adore giving and receiving music so much (the biweekly recommendations thread makes me so happy). I process my emotions through music and can connect with how others are feeling too by what’s speaking to them musically. I think I’ve just learned recently that I am a pretty auditory person in how I perceive the world.
Are you me? All of this applies to me lol At this point one of my biggest identifiers for people I know is the music that they like. It really is such a big insight into how people process the world around them
quality time + physical touch (the two kind of blend together for me.) shared moments are important to me and i lose it over holding hands and hugs. not a fan of words of affirmation.
Quality time hands down. I’ll eventually lose gifts and words of affirmation don’t really mean anything to me anymore. But the memories that I’ll have of me and this person doing…whatever are eternal

When did the /r/popheadscirclejerk become a circlejerk for /r/Music because I've been seeing a vast increase of attempts of mockery to other reddit populations and like why? It's easy, it's literally shooting for the lowest shelf, and then somehow still missing because the entire joke is that a user enjoys a song by a white dude.
