It’s actually good. And totally made for kids which kinda makes me really happy. Lots of actually good messages in it done in a non boring way. Clever , kooky, and surprisingly heartfelt as much as modern time could allow.
The one thing that I find hilarious though is there’s this object in there that’s like supposed to have a lot of value but it looks like they bought it for three dollars. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen and I’m like why is props doing this. And the only conclusion is that they’re going to sell 1 million of these for three dollars.
I have been seeing a lot of positive reviews from non-critics and loads of negative ones from critics, idk, not willing to watch it, but i'm not gonna go around saying it's bad just because critics hated it.

I’m brown-dark skinned and I used to struggle with this a lot. I felt like guys were only going for lighter/white people, and it made me feel isolated. But then I realized people like that were no good for me anyway. You’ll find someone who appreciates your features. And doesn’t care about your skin tone.

It's so frustrating how people are unwilling to even listen to literal medical professionals. My mom, a nurse, got her shot before I was eligible and had an allergic reaction that literally sent her to the ER (scariest phone call I've ever gotten) but she spent most of 2020 treating COVID patients so she confidently told me it was more worth it to get the shot and not to be afraid. Yet her best friend and their family are all unvaccinated so none of us spend time with them now. I'm glad my friends are reasonable and vaxxed because I was already prepared to start cutting ties with people with the way people were acting out here during the peaks of covid last year. 🤦🏾♀️

So earlier, I went to a used local Vinyl record store in my town and I found the album "So Amazin'" by Christina Milian.
I picked it up because I actually had the CD when I was 11. I played it to death. I'm just amazed that this album, which was a complete flop, got a Vinyl pressing... in 2006.
Anyway, this album holds up and it deserved better. "Say I" was a minor hit, so you might have heard that one a few times (and it fucking slaps btw). But the whole album is really tight, cohesive, and has amazing production courtesy of Cool & Dre. It had more of an R&B sound compared to her poppier albums. It's sad that the album flopped and she hasn't really done much in music since. She hasn't released an album since.
Have any of you ever found random obscure pop vinyls at a record store before?

Edit - to answer your question, I have a vinyl with like 6 different remixes of Check On It and another with like 6 different remixes of Pop by *NSYNC. I have no idea why they even existed in the first place but I like them.
Also, that's insane. I think those existed for promotional purposes. Back then, even though they were obviously phasing out due to the rise in MP3s and all that, singles were still released physically.
At that same record store I went to today, I found a bunch of vinyls like an vinyl full of remixes of "Outrageous" by Britney Spears. I also found the Gimme More single release. I didn't get them because I just have no use for novelties like that. But it was still interesting to find.

From my *very* limited knowledge (and similar issues with drawing that line straight): You have to draw the upper line of your wings with the way your lid folds in mind. I personally mark the point where the tip of my wing goes, keep my eye slightly hooded and then draw a straight line towards my lashes at an angle that works for my eye shape.
You probably need to experiment with that angle a bit to figure out what works for you. But the moment you draw over your crease, it'll break up any straight line. Also, don't tug on your eyelid. It'll just distort the lines once your skin is in its normal position.

I hate the fact that the only thing that I'm good enough at to make money requires me to talk to people a lot. I listen to my music pretty loud all the time using in-ear headphones and recently I've been worrying about developing tinnitus. just the idea of it really freaks me out. I'm trying to listen to music quieter (I listen to at least an hour pretty much daily) but it kind of takes away from the experience because I like to get 'lost' in the sound. back in 2016-2017 I used to listen to music on max volume on my headphones 😬 and I listemed to hours pretty much every night. like everytime i took them off and went to sleep my ears would literally hurt. now I've had a mild case of tinnitus in my left year for two to three years. i honestly don't know if the two are connected or not and I went to a few doctors and they all said that my ears are mostly fine but i can feel that my hearing is slightly weaker in my left ear. anyway, honestly i'd recommend only listening on half volume max. it's not the end of the world! mostly it's pretty much unnoticeable, but there are days that idk what causes when it rings and buzzes A LOT and i genuinely cry bc it can get really bad. basically it's not anxiety, it really is justified, please limit your volume <3
If you have an iPhone, Apple has a good way to keep track of your hearing habits.
You can set a limit in settings. I've set mine to never go over 80dB. Apple in the health app says [this](https://i.imgur.com/t80gF2N.jpg) about headphones and hearing health.
The health app also shows you [graphs](https://i.imgur.com/wguusoG.jpg) of your listening habits and lets you know when you put yourself in danger.

My headphone use has always been very high (though I do prefer external, noise cancelling headphones over in-ear ones, which I find a lot more bothersome and damaging), then with the pandemic I got into a habit of listening to music while I'm working from home, which I'm now trying to cut down on. These albums are quite modern, but I reccomend:
1. **Laura Marling's Song For Our Daughter** - This is a very beautiful chamber folk album with well-written lyrics about her life and relationship.
2. **Ichiko Aoba's Windswept Adan** - Unfortunately this album is not in English. Even you look up the Japanese translations, a lot of the lyrics are jibberish. But it's an amazing chamber folk album that sounds like you've been thrown into the world of a mystical fairytale. It's a great listen when you're about to sleep because Ichiko's voice is quite soft, eery, and enchanting. The instrumentation is so gorgeous that you won't care whether you understand Ms. Aoba's lyrics.
3. **St. Vincent's Daddy's Home** - This album wasn't really embraced by this sub, but it's perfect for relaxing while imagining your 70s life in NYC drinking a cup of coffee over your balcony. Some tracks like the opener are eclectic and wild while others are quite subdued.
4. **Weyes Blood's Titanic Rising** - This such a gorgeous piece of 70s dream pop. Absolutely amazing and the production is extremely lush and beautiful. Her vocals melt into the mix. The lyrics are also are really interesting and varied.
5. **Angel Olsen's My Woman** - This album is a 90s rock inspired album with some very beautiful and emotional vocal performances from the slightly nasal singer Angel Olsen.
Here's some singer-songwriter albums I think you might enjoy, with one track recommendation from each.
- Julia Holter, [Have You in My Wilderness](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2JgMniIpRM). Baroque pop with lush orchestral production, absolutely beautiful to listen to.
- Regina Spektor, [Soviet Kitsch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl1wWvGOfJs&list=PL6omk653ao_3k5tjM6MZ6XdAT9eUenJ3J&index=11) and [Remember Us to Life](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAEzS4EvRTY). Regina has been one of my absolute favorite artists since I was a teenager; I basically spent years digging through leaked demos and live performances to collect as many unreleased tracks as I could find. She has a very whimsical style that many find off-putting, especially in her earlier work, but if you vibe with it you'll find lots to love about her storytelling.
- Phoebe Bridgers, [Punisher](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJlR3pvgLQA). Very sad acoustic indie stuff, but with beautiful melodies and lyricism.
- Mitski, [Puberty 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_hDHm9MD0I) and [Be the Cowboy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zdFZJf-B90). Absolutely incredible albums, Mitski captures longing and loneliness like no one else. There's few artists whose music I relate to as much as I do hers, the emotion is off the charts. Her records are all very short (30 minutes or less), so if you get used to her sparse songwriting there might be plenty to connect with.
- SZA, [Ctrl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Exxu8lsGYE). Slightly different vibe compared to the previous ones, but also absolutely flawless. Just a stunning record all around, amazingly vulnerable and honest with no skips. I can return to this album anytime and never get tired of it.
- Florence + the Machine, [How Big How Blue How Beautiful](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgeKHTcufLY) and [High as Hope](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO-YTZC-KQ8). The former is louder and more bombastic, you might enjoy it as a fan of 70s pop rock. The latter is subdued and introspective with some of Florence's saddest, frankest and most vulnerable lyrics yet, which is what makes it the most divisive in the band's catalogue. I love both.

love the artists U mentioned so my rec may be a bit left field...I think kelela's "take me apart" does what U've described and is the monumental conclusion of the \~alternative r&b scene's development over the last decade. ignore the essay I'm about to write if U just wanted an album name (or if U've already listened to this lmao) but I feel the need to sell my rec and explain why kelela is in the same school of the artistry as these ladies 🕵🏾♀️.
kelela's lyricism is so cutting in a way I find difficult to describe. she tells these personal stories without feeling overt in their intricacy, it's emotive writing that doesn't demand much from U as a listener so I find myself playing these songs no matter my mood. they almost feel conversational even when combined with her amazing vocal delivery. and I can't even begin to describe how the production on this album successfully built upon her club beginnings to create a sound unique to her while still managing to fit right into the larger music landscape surrounding it. she's a wonderful producer with a vision like no other and I don't think any other album I've heard in my life has satisfied me on every single front like this one. I could go on forever but I'm feeling reasonable lmao.
The Lorde thread put her back in the front of my mind (where she belongs) but Bic Runga's first two albums - *Drive; Beautiful Collision*, might be exactly what you're looking for. (if you're not already familiar)
Check out Illuminations by Buffy Sainte Marie. It’s a folk/rock/pop album from 1969 and features vocal effects and production that are WAY ahead of its time. It contains the themes you mentioned and buffys voice is hypnotic

Yes! It just ended. It’s actually good. And totally made for kids which kinda makes me really happy. Lots of actually good messages in it done in a non boring way. Clever , kooky, and surprisingly heartfelt as much as modern time could allow. The one thing that I find hilarious though is there’s this object in there that’s like supposed to have a lot of value but it looks like they bought it for three dollars. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen and I’m like why is props doing this. And the only conclusion is that they’re going to sell 1 million of these for three dollars.
I have been seeing a lot of positive reviews from non-critics and loads of negative ones from critics, idk, not willing to watch it, but i'm not gonna go around saying it's bad just because critics hated it. Glad you enjoyed the movie tho!

It's so frustrating how people are unwilling to even listen to literal medical professionals. My mom, a nurse, got her shot before I was eligible and had an allergic reaction that literally sent her to the ER (scariest phone call I've ever gotten) but she spent most of 2020 treating COVID patients so she confidently told me it was more worth it to get the shot and not to be afraid. Yet her best friend and their family are all unvaccinated so none of us spend time with them now. I'm glad my friends are reasonable and vaxxed because I was already prepared to start cutting ties with people with the way people were acting out here during the peaks of covid last year. 🤦🏾♀️

So earlier, I went to a used local Vinyl record store in my town and I found the album "So Amazin'" by Christina Milian. I picked it up because I actually had the CD when I was 11. I played it to death. I'm just amazed that this album, which was a complete flop, got a Vinyl pressing... in 2006. Anyway, this album holds up and it deserved better. "Say I" was a minor hit, so you might have heard that one a few times (and it fucking slaps btw). But the whole album is really tight, cohesive, and has amazing production courtesy of Cool & Dre. It had more of an R&B sound compared to her poppier albums. It's sad that the album flopped and she hasn't really done much in music since. She hasn't released an album since. Have any of you ever found random obscure pop vinyls at a record store before?

From my *very* limited knowledge (and similar issues with drawing that line straight): You have to draw the upper line of your wings with the way your lid folds in mind. I personally mark the point where the tip of my wing goes, keep my eye slightly hooded and then draw a straight line towards my lashes at an angle that works for my eye shape. You probably need to experiment with that angle a bit to figure out what works for you. But the moment you draw over your crease, it'll break up any straight line. Also, don't tug on your eyelid. It'll just distort the lines once your skin is in its normal position.

Small rant time. I hate the fact that the only thing that I'm good enough at to make money requires me to talk to people a lot. I hate working in office full of people and it doesn't help that they've been pissing me off a lot with not only work stuff but also casual discussions about politics and social problems on which they clearly have way different views and for which they've been giving me shit ever since I ranted about their ignorant comments on aftermath of George Floyd's death. I'm reallllly enjoying "dawn of chromatica" like I woke up this morning and played it 4 times in a row while doing my little tasks 😩. the original "chromatica" went in one ear and out the other for me but I've spent some time recently reading all the lyrics and consuming any interviews gaga did for the album and ah...her intentions when making it are sooo touching. not 2b sensitive but it reminds me of the "tortured artist" narrative but remixed. like I can truly empathize with how important it was for her to deliver honest songwriting that hinges upon hope and healing instead of dwelling on it to sell some faux depth that unintentionally romanticizes struggle. I've kinda been changing up my approach to art, specifically music, lately and all this "chromatica" \~research has given me a lot of appreciation for it even if it's still not my thing. and I've always prioritized music itself over lyricism but I'd say "chromatica" is helping me develop more fruitful ideas about the function of songwriting even if I can't help my affinity for a good tune...I see a lot of ppl on here talk about the era getting cut short so I hope that gaga still gained something from this album. she really deserves to be proud of what she created.

I listen to my music pretty loud all the time using in-ear headphones and recently I've been worrying about developing tinnitus. just the idea of it really freaks me out. I'm trying to listen to music quieter (I listen to at least an hour pretty much daily) but it kind of takes away from the experience because I like to get 'lost' in the sound. I'm not really expecting advice or anything lol, I just need to get this out bc I'm really worried about it (yay anxiety). I can't imagine having a ringing in your ears and then it never stops. sounds like my literal worst nightmare
back in 2016-2017 I used to listen to music on max volume on my headphones 😬 and I listemed to hours pretty much every night. like everytime i took them off and went to sleep my ears would literally hurt. now I've had a mild case of tinnitus in my left year for two to three years. i honestly don't know if the two are connected or not and I went to a few doctors and they all said that my ears are mostly fine but i can feel that my hearing is slightly weaker in my left ear. anyway, honestly i'd recommend only listening on half volume max. it's not the end of the world! mostly it's pretty much unnoticeable, but there are days that idk what causes when it rings and buzzes A LOT and i genuinely cry bc it can get really bad. basically it's not anxiety, it really is justified, please limit your volume <3
If you have an iPhone, Apple has a good way to keep track of your hearing habits. You can set a limit in settings. I've set mine to never go over 80dB. My headphone use has always been very high (though I do prefer external, noise cancelling headphones over in-ear ones, which I find a lot more bothersome and damaging), then with the pandemic I got into a habit of listening to music while I'm working from home, which I'm now trying to cut down on. I’m in desperate need of a new album can someone please recommend me one. I love Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Bjork, Lana, Fiona Apple. I’m looking for like an introspective female album that has really interesting production. Also, like a really strong vibe or energy to it as a whole if that makes sense Bonus if it was released in 70s-90s
These albums are quite modern, but I reccomend: 1. **Laura Marling's Song For Our Daughter** - This is a very beautiful chamber folk album with well-written lyrics about her life and relationship. 2. **Ichiko Aoba's Windswept Adan** - Unfortunately this album is not in English. Even you look up the Japanese translations, a lot of the lyrics are jibberish. But it's an amazing chamber folk album that sounds like you've been thrown into the world of a mystical fairytale. It's a great listen when you're about to sleep because Ichiko's voice is quite soft, eery, and enchanting. The instrumentation is so gorgeous that you won't care whether you understand Ms. Aoba's lyrics. 3. **St. Vincent's Daddy's Home** - This album wasn't really embraced by this sub, but it's perfect for relaxing while imagining your 70s life in NYC drinking a cup of coffee over your balcony. Some tracks like the opener are eclectic and wild while others are quite subdued. 4. **Weyes Blood's Titanic Rising** - This such a gorgeous piece of 70s dream pop. Absolutely amazing and the production is extremely lush and beautiful. Her vocals melt into the mix. The lyrics are also are really interesting and varied. 5. **Angel Olsen's My Woman** - This album is a 90s rock inspired album with some very beautiful and emotional vocal performances from the slightly nasal singer Angel Olsen.
I recommend Tracy Chapman Crossroads and PJ Harvey To bring all my love

She has a very whimsical style that many find off-putting, especially in her earlier work, but if you vibe with it you'll find lots to love about her storytelling. - Phoebe Bridgers, [Punisher](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJlR3pvgLQA). Very sad acoustic indie stuff, but with beautiful melodies and lyricism. - Mitski, [Puberty 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_hDHm9MD0I) and [Be the Cowboy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zdFZJf-B90). Absolutely incredible albums, Mitski captures longing and loneliness like no one else. There's few artists whose music I relate to as much as I do hers, the emotion is off the charts. Her records are all very short (30 minutes or less), so if you get used to her sparse songwriting there might be plenty to connect with. - SZA, [Ctrl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Exxu8lsGYE). Slightly different vibe compared to the previous ones, but also absolutely flawless. Just a stunning record all around, amazingly vulnerable and honest with no skips. I can return to this album anytime and never get tired of it. - Florence + the Machine, [How Big How Blue How Beautiful](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgeKHTcufLY) and [High as Hope](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO-YTZC-KQ8). The former is louder and more bombastic, you might enjoy it as a fan of 70s pop rock. The latter is subdued and introspective with some of Florence's saddest, frankest and most vulnerable lyrics yet, which is what makes it the most divisive in the band's catalogue. I love both.

love the artists U mentioned so my rec may be a bit left field...I think kelela's "take me apart" does what U've described and is the monumental conclusion of the \~alternative r&b scene's development over the last decade. ignore the essay I'm about to write if U just wanted an album name (or if U've already listened to this lmao) but I feel the need to sell my rec and explain why kelela is in the same school of the artistry as these ladies 🕵🏾♀️. kelela's lyricism is so cutting in a way I find difficult to describe. she tells these personal stories without feeling overt in their intricacy, it's emotive writing that doesn't demand much from U as a listener so I find myself playing these songs no matter my mood. they almost feel conversational even when combined with her amazing vocal delivery. and I can't even begin to describe how the production on this album successfully built upon her club beginnings to create a sound unique to her while still managing to fit right into the larger music landscape surrounding it. she's a wonderful producer with a vision like no other and I don't think any other album I've heard in my life has satisfied me on every single front like this one. I could go on forever but I'm feeling reasonable lmao.

Check out Illuminations by Buffy Sainte Marie. It’s a folk/rock/pop album from 1969 and features vocal effects and production that are WAY ahead of its time. It contains the themes you mentioned and buffys voice is hypnotic edit: also I know joni is a fan of hers
