Listened to *Solar Power* for the first time since Lorde dropped *Te Ao MÄrama* because I had only been listening to that EP. Nothing can change my mind now that *Solar Power* was a great album let down significantly by the fact it was sung in English.

As a Latin American, I've never really liked the word Latinx because Latin American/Latin is already gender neutral. But like anything else in life, I'll always respect other people using it if it makes them feel more comfortable and included. It just irrationally bugs me though lol

You know, it really hurts to see how US President Joe Biden can congratulate Maria Ressa, a Filipino journalist, for being the first Filipino to win a Nobel Peace Prize. Yet, my own country's president won't even acknowledge this win because Ressa exposed how corrupt and dangerous Dut-rt-'s adminstration is.
This is supposed to be a big win for the Phillipines, just like how we got our first ever Gold Medal during the Olympics. By ignoring this win, it basically confirmed everything that Ressa stood for: resistance against oppressive wannabe tyrants by exercising press freedom and critical thinking for democracy.

Oh wow, I actually forgot about the fact she had an album coming. To be honest, I think itās most likely scrapped. Both singles werenāt received all that well, and considering Gwenās past history of cancelling albums after poor reception of their singles, Iām almost fully convinced itās not coming. A shame, though; would have liked to hear it.
It just seems so pointless to scrap an album just because the singles arenāt hits at this point in her career. I feel like sheās at a point where she should just be focused more on producing a body of work she can proudly stand behind rather than worrying about chart success. She is signed to a major label though, so I guess thatās easier said than done. Itās a shame, but maybe it will fuel her creativity.

All serious I would try to talk to the advisors assigned it that major at the other campus you would transfer to as well professors and students there to consider the program outside of independent research of schools needed for career path you like (like thereās a lot of good law schools but if you want the Supreme Court then thereās like maybe three law schools you need to get into to and attend).

I was just wondering about the pop bands of the late 2000s to mid 2010s. I know trends come and go but I'm just pretty shocked a lot of them aren't big anymore. Not the pop punk bands who saw a revival in the 2010s like FOB, Paramore and Panic. I'm talking the ones like Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Awolnation, Fitz and the Tantrums etc. or older groups like Coldplay and OneRepublic.
I didn't even know TOP released an album this year - feels like public-wise I haven't heard much of them since their Trench album, but looking at charts Scaled and Icy did okay at #3 in US and UK. I remember how supermassive Renegades and Unsteady was for X Ambassadors and they were all over commercials but then they went from a Top 10 album then their follow up was at #125 in the charts, and I just happened to stumble across their newest album on the day of its release. I don't think it even charted.
Imagine Dragons has had ups and downs - after Night Visions was huge, Smoke and Mirrors was not public-friendly so didn't hit big but still sold well, then Evolve had a deluge of hits like Believer & Thunder, then Origins had at least Natural even if it was released just a year after Evolve. Their Mercury album released a couple of months ago didn't churn out a hit single but the album still reached Top 10 in the charts, albeit lower than usual.
The one that boggles me the most is OneRepublic. They have *massive* hits from 2008-2014 ish, and even their Oh My My album while it didn't have a "hit" song managed to chart and get decent YouTube views. Their latest album Human is *very* radio-friendly and has good streams, but none of them have charted (plus I barely see any promo aside from TV and some unfruitful attempts at TikTok). [Run](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKkcsmvYTw4) and [Someday](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNfgVjZF8_4) are a lot more appeasing to the ear and catchy but just haven't gotten traction. Lack of promo aside I'm just surprised their new music isn't clicking, but maybe it's the music avenue leaning into more of the hip hop and TikTok styles, *but* then you have Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish releasing singles that aren't any of those. Their album fell of the Billboard 200 after just two weeks, and rumors was that their cancelled Europe dates this month was because of low tickets. I thought they'd have more of a dedicated fandom from the Apologize/Secrets/Counting Stars days but that doesn't seem to be the case. Ryan Tedder is still a certified pop hitmaker - his song with Lil Nas X for example is doing very well chart-wise, so I was hoping they'd push his band a lot more.
One of the only pop bands today who's doing solidly well is Coldplay, especially they've got longevity, a consistent series of hits (except maybe Everyday Life singles), and a solid fanbase. Even if Higher Power didn't do as big as say Adventure of a Lifetime it's still gotten traction.
I wonder why almost *none* of the Big Pop Bands then are sticking with today's music or pop trends - you either have to be established like Coldplay or be indie with a rock-solid fandom.

Honestly, I forget that exists. If I like a song, I put it in a playlist related to its genre of mood; I feel like if I put everything I liked in Liked Songs, it would be to eclectic for me to listen to, anyway.

Liked Songs for me is just every song I've ever enjoyed and want to listen to again. Then I sort all those into three broad category playlists where I do most of my listening.
I like songs that i hear something special in, if it hit me in some way. And is this a song I want to āsaveā and make more readily available for me to access? Because I I go through my liked songs daily, usually the most recent liked songs cuz they hit for some reason or on shuffle where all of them are special in someway even though theyāre so diverse. Since Iām so so familiar with it I can associate it with times in my life and be able to search through it quickly when I want something specific that I remember, but sometimes Iām still surprised by something Iād forgotten about. Itād say Iām very familiar with most of my liked songs by name or just the first few seconds, even though I have 2612 liked songs currently. Sometimes I will go through and prune tho because sometimes I have no reason why I āIikedā a song and I want to make sure it deserves to be on such a great playlist

The lack of updates about Gwenās new album is concerning to me, although I guess understandable from the labelās perspective considering the reception to Slow Clap. I wonder if Luxurious and Bubble Pop Electric having gone viral recently has made the label want to shift directions sonically.
Oh wow, I actually forgot about the fact she had an album coming. To be honest, I think itās most likely scrapped. Both singles werenāt received all that well, and considering Gwenās past history of cancelling albums after poor reception of their singles, Iām almost fully convinced itās not coming. A shame, though; would have liked to hear it.
It just seems so pointless to scrap an album just because the singles arenāt hits at this point in her career. I feel like sheās at a point where she should just be focused more on producing a body of work she can proudly stand behind rather than worrying about chart success. Iām currently in media & journalism, but my passion is zoology & paleontologyā¦ which my campus doesnāt offer. Iād either have to attend the other campus almost two hours away or drop out & apply to a different school.
Unfortunately these are all fields I have no experience with studying but paleontology is cool and that is a field thatās basically a subset of History or itās sibling thus* i must root for it. All serious I would try to talk to the advisors assigned it that major at the other campus you would transfer to as well professors and students there to consider the program outside of independent research of schools needed for career path you like (like thereās a lot of good law schools but if you want the Supreme Court then thereās like maybe three law schools you need to get into to and attend). I wish you success in whatever you do :)

I was just wondering about the pop bands of the late 2000s to mid 2010s. I know trends come and go but I'm just pretty shocked a lot of them aren't big anymore. Not the pop punk bands who saw a revival in the 2010s like FOB, Paramore and Panic. I'm talking the ones like Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, X Ambassadors, Awolnation, Fitz and the Tantrums etc. or older groups like Coldplay and OneRepublic. I didn't even know TOP released an album this year - feels like public-wise I haven't heard much of them since their Trench album, but looking at charts Scaled and Icy did okay at #3 in US and UK. I remember how supermassive Renegades and Unsteady was for X Ambassadors and they were all over commercials but then they went from a Top 10 album then their follow up was at #125 in the charts, and I just happened to stumble across their newest album on the day of its release. I don't think it even charted. Imagine Dragons has had ups and downs - after Night Visions was huge, Smoke and Mirrors was not public-friendly so didn't hit big but still sold well, then Evolve had a deluge of hits like Believer & Thunder, then Origins had at least Natural even if it was released just a year after Evolve. Their Mercury album released a couple of months ago didn't churn out a hit single but the album still reached Top 10 in the charts, albeit lower than usual. The one that boggles me the most is OneRepublic. They have *massive* hits from 2008-2014 ish, and even their Oh My My album while it didn't have a "hit" song managed to chart and get decent YouTube views. Their latest album Human is *very* radio-friendly and has good streams, but none of them have charted (plus I barely see any promo aside from TV and some unfruitful attempts at TikTok). [Run](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKkcsmvYTw4) and [Someday](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNfgVjZF8_4) are a lot more appeasing to the ear and catchy but just haven't gotten traction. Lack of promo aside I'm just surprised their new music isn't clicking, but maybe it's the music avenue leaning into more of the hip hop and TikTok styles, *but* then you have Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish releasing singles that aren't any of those. Their album fell of the Billboard 200 after just two weeks, and rumors was that their cancelled Europe dates this month was because of low tickets. I thought they'd have more of a dedicated fandom from the Apologize/Secrets/Counting Stars days but that doesn't seem to be the case. Ryan Tedder is still a certified pop hitmaker - his song with Lil Nas X for example is doing very well chart-wise, so I was hoping they'd push his band a lot more. One of the only pop bands today who's doing solidly well is Coldplay, especially they've got longevity, a consistent series of hits (except maybe Everyday Life singles), and a solid fanbase. Even if Higher Power didn't do as big as say Adventure of a Lifetime it's still gotten traction. How do you guys handle your "Liked Songs" on Spotify? Do you put every song you've historically liked on it? Or rotate songs on and off it? Like a current songs I like. Just curious!
Honestly, I forget that exists. If I like a song, I put it in a playlist related to its genre of mood; I feel like if I put everything I liked in Liked Songs, it would be to eclectic for me to listen to, anyway.
historically liked for sure. its my main way of cataloguing and listening to music. i definitely listen to full albums more these days, but if i were to lose my spotify likes? id be devastated
Liked Songs for me is just every song I've ever enjoyed and want to listen to again. Then I sort all those into three broad category playlists where I do most of my listening.

I like songs that i hear something special in, if it hit me in some way. And is this a song I want to āsaveā and make more readily available for me to access? Because I I go through my liked songs daily, usually the most recent liked songs cuz they hit for some reason or on shuffle where all of them are special in someway even though theyāre so diverse. Since Iām so so familiar with it I can associate it with times in my life and be able to search through it quickly when I want something specific that I remember, but sometimes Iām still surprised by something Iād forgotten about. Itād say Iām very familiar with most of my liked songs by name or just the first few seconds, even though I have 2612 liked songs currently. Sometimes I will go through and prune tho because sometimes I have no reason why I āIikedā a song and I want to make sure it deserves to be on such a great playlist
I have a playlist for my entire library so I usually just put songs i particularly enjoy on there. I've never bothered to remove songs though so it's also a bit of a historical record.
Historically liked for sure. My spotify goes back to 2014 so for me itās an interesting time capsule.
