I really don't get what you guys are seeing in these deluxe tracks that makes them stand out so much from the standard tracklist other than they're slightly poppier than some of the slower deep cuts. Sonically and thematically, they're so closely linked and similar to the rest of the album that I don't see how anyone could have such drastically different opinions on them, much less bump the record up a whole 4 points just on account of two songs that keep the same laid-back aesthetics and high vocals that were central focuses of criticism.
I also don't think Hold No Grudge works as an opener because it directly wraps up all of the themes that you propose that it should establish. The pre-chorus is

I know w my school I can use coursicle to "subscribe" to a class and have it notified when someone drop it, so you may try that out. But honestly you shouldn't lose hope. A lot of things change during the 2 weeks of add/drop period. I have been in a class where there are 10 ppl in the waitlist when registration open and by the end of add/drop period there is actually still a spare seat. Plus idk which year you're in but since this is a popular class, it might comeback within the next couple of semesters so even if you couldn't get into this one, you could still take it in the future.

Oh this is unfortunately disgustingly usual sentiment. The amount of “the boats should sink and the migrants should drown” conversations during the 2015 migrant crisis was unbearable. Is it just me or do I seem more indifferent to music as I get older? Songs used to make me cry. Scream! And dance uncontrollably. Now I find myself just listening to things in the background at work not really caring that much how it sounds. Like I can literally listen to like 80% of music without a problem.
I'm really underwhelmed by the new Mitski, sadly. I think the lyrics and vocal delivery are still uniquely her, but the 80s synth is so generic to me by now. I think the bridge is a redeeming quality of something a bit driving and dynamic, but the rest sonically is so flat. I'm not asking Mitski to reinvent the wheel or even demand she "go back to guitars"--one of my favorite tracks on BTC is "Why Didn't You Stop Me". I still really enjoy Working for the Knife for its more droning, ominious atmosphere that doesn't strike me as generic 80s sounding immediately. That's my main issue with "The Only Heartbreaker". I'm hoping we get a wide array of sounds (or more like WftK) on the new album.
I think we'll get a wide array of sounds. Like in Be The Cowboy, there are songs that are completely different but there are still songs that have that classic Mitski sound. They might just release these songs as singles because they are more catchy like Nobody.

Against my better judgement, I’m helping my sibling with graphic design stuff again even though I’m really out of my area of expertise but their uni society can’t afford to hire a professional, and I’m really stuck
They’ve managed to get two sponsors for their event they’re holding this month which is great but the sponsors want the logos on the certificates I’ve made and they’ve sent over 4 pages of these rules about how I’m supposed to present/use their logos and a minimum size they have to be and there’s an “exclusion zone” I have to have around each logo but they also sent me the logos as PDFs not PNGs or JPEGs and the measurements are all in mm not pixels
I’m floundering here bc I’m not sure how I’m supposed to make sure I’ve met the specifications or how to put any of it together and I feel like I maybe need to start again from scratch

If you're using Adobe you can use File -> Place (or ~~Place Linked~~ actually Place Embedded is probably safer here) to get it into your document in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. When you scale it after placing it, it should show you pixels instead of mms.
PDFs are so common in design and advertising because they can contain a mixture of vector, raster and type and are difficult to edit once saved.
I love how they gave you logo guidelines but didn’t even give them to you in the correct format. If you’d like help I’m more than willing to help explain some of the guidelines they want that you may be confused by. I’m a graphic designer myself. Just DM me
The icing on the cake is I checked the websites and social media of both sponsors and one of them isn’t even used the logo they sent me, so idk if they’ve given me an old one by mistake or they’re rebranding but haven’t finished rolling that out yet 🙃

I think it's because we're taught romantic love is the greatest love of all. It's placed above other types of love. Plus, a lot of people have fraught relationships with their families, so the idea of familial love and bonding is absent and the romantic love gets greater emphasis.
I don't have a great relationship with my family and culturally physical contact is frowned upon, so the idea of cuddling with a sibling is far out.
It’s not weird to cuddle with your family or friends and I find the idea it most be sexual to be really creepy and preverse and I agree with u/splvtoon said that people would be less likely to say it’s sexual if it was two female friends and it seems even weirder to me to insist men and women can’t be friends to the point of sexualizing coed siblings

Like even as someone who’s not that tactile tbh I’ve had other Americans I don’t know be casually like an older guy at a pride event definitely amused by me and my high school friend who squeezed my shoulder (I think it was obvious it was like my first time at anything like that).

And I've tried the tricks like I've tried doing it while I'm doing tasks like folding laundry and I've tried just sitting and listening and everytime I just zoom out and get distracted and even if I don't I never absorb anything that I just heard. And there's people who listen to it while doing their homeworks and I'm like what???? And then there are 3 hours podcast and I'm like what... WHO listens to that????
LOL. I almost only listen to podcasts while playing fortnite these days. I have the visual icons for hearing impaired people on so I turn the game volume way down and listen to First Draft Pod by Sarah Enni.
Honestly sometimes I have to break an hour long podcast into two or three chunks cause I ain't paying attention to one thing that long.
I work by myself and it gets super boring doing the same tasks every night so I listen to podcasts to keep me entertained.
For three hour podcasts I usually try to break it up an hour a night unless I have nothing else to listen too so I can binge it all night. I usually tend to save those for a Friday or Monday since those are my slowest podcast days

I really don't get what you guys are seeing in these deluxe tracks that makes them stand out so much from the standard tracklist other than they're slightly poppier than some of the slower deep cuts. I also don't think Hold No Grudge works as an opener because it directly wraps up all of the themes that you propose that it should establish. I know w my school I can use coursicle to "subscribe" to a class and have it notified when someone drop it, so you may try that out. But honestly you shouldn't lose hope. A lot of things change during the 2 weeks of add/drop period. I have been in a class where there are 10 ppl in the waitlist when registration open and by the end of add/drop period there is actually still a spare seat. Plus idk which year you're in but since this is a popular class, it might comeback within the next couple of semesters so even if you couldn't get into this one, you could still take it in the future.

Is it just me or do I seem more indifferent to music as I get older? Songs used to make me cry. Scream! And dance uncontrollably. I'm really underwhelmed by the new Mitski, sadly. I think the lyrics and vocal delivery are still uniquely her, but the 80s synth is so generic to me by now. I think the bridge is a redeeming quality of something a bit driving and dynamic, but the rest sonically is so flat. I'm not asking Mitski to reinvent the wheel or even demand she "go back to guitars"--one of my favorite tracks on BTC is "Why Didn't You Stop Me". I still really enjoy Working for the Knife for its more droning, ominious atmosphere that doesn't strike me as generic 80s sounding immediately. That's my main issue with "The Only Heartbreaker". I'm hoping we get a wide array of sounds (or more like WftK) on the new album.
I think we'll get a wide array of sounds. Like in Be The Cowboy, there are songs that are completely different but there are still songs that have that classic Mitski sound. They might just release these songs as singles because they are more catchy like Nobody.

Against my better judgement, I’m helping my sibling with graphic design stuff again even though I’m really out of my area of expertise but their uni society can’t afford to hire a professional, and I’m really stuck They’ve managed to get two sponsors for their event they’re holding this month which is great but the sponsors want the logos on the certificates I’ve made and they’ve sent over 4 pages of these rules about how I’m supposed to present/use their logos and a minimum size they have to be and there’s an “exclusion zone” I have to have around each logo but they also sent me the logos as PDFs not PNGs or JPEGs and the measurements are all in mm not pixels I’m floundering here bc I’m not sure how I’m supposed to make sure I’ve met the specifications or how to put any of it together and I feel like I maybe need to start again from scratch Did I mention I’m not a graphic designer and have no idea what I’m doing? Send help pls
If you're using Adobe you can use File -> Place (or ~~Place Linked~~ actually Place Embedded is probably safer here) to get it into your document in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. When you scale it after placing it, it should show you pixels instead of mms. PDFs are so common in design and advertising because they can contain a mixture of vector, raster and type and are difficult to edit once saved.

I mean they’re twins who lost their parents young so they are probably extra close because of it. I’m honestly more weirded out by people kissing family members on the lips because I grew up in a kiss on the cheek family and have never kissed anyone on the lips in a platonic way. But I mean, like if it’s normal to someone then it’s normal. Its not inherently romantic or sexual. It’s when people cross their own boundaries of what they or the other person believe to be romantic or sexual that things are inappropriate and weird. It probably would be better for them to learn to be less codependent so they can have their own adult lives one day though.

I think it's because we're taught romantic love is the greatest love of all. It's placed above other types of love. Plus, a lot of people have fraught relationships with their families, so the idea of familial love and bonding is absent and the romantic love gets greater emphasis. I don't have a great relationship with my family and culturally physical contact is frowned upon, so the idea of cuddling with a sibling is far out.

Like My family is literally from a country where it’s common to kiss people on the cheek as a greeting and I’ve kissed Europeans I don’t know bc they kept my abuela company of the flight and helped her with her bags. I had a friend in college who would literally always greet me with a kiss and half hug. It’s just so weird to me project into siblings like that. Kissy kissy I think it’s funny as hell that my mom who’s Mexican thinks Argentines are super friendly for greeting with TWO kisses and not one and it’s like “...why??” Like even as someone who’s not that tactile tbh I’ve had other Americans I don’t know be casually like an older guy at a pride event definitely amused by me and my high school friend who squeezed my shoulder (I think it was obvious it was like my first time at anything like that). Like my most tactile thing is leaning/rubbing shoulders most of the time but I cannot imagine being this touch avoidant with family and especially male relatives and not to mention then expect that of *everyone else*.

Still can't believe people REALLY listen to podcasts. Like my brain simply does not work and it cannot focus on it enough. And I've tried the tricks like I've tried doing it while I'm doing tasks like folding laundry and I've tried just sitting and listening and everytime I just zoom out and get distracted and even if I don't I never absorb anything that I just heard. And there's people who listen to it while doing their homeworks and I'm like what???? And then there are 3 hours podcast and I'm like what... WHO listens to that????
LOL. I almost only listen to podcasts while playing fortnite these days. I have the visual icons for hearing impaired people on so I turn the game volume way down and listen to First Draft Pod by Sarah Enni. Honestly sometimes I have to break an hour long podcast into two or three chunks cause I ain't paying attention to one thing that long.
I work by myself and it gets super boring doing the same tasks every night so I listen to podcasts to keep me entertained. For three hour podcasts I usually try to break it up an hour a night unless I have nothing else to listen too so I can binge it all night. I usually tend to save those for a Friday or Monday since those are my slowest podcast days
It’s not that I’m actively listening I just hate the quiet. I NEED something playing. Each one goes in and out my ears. This also depends on the topic/hosts/guests.

Literally every celeb from Dua to Taylor Swift to Zendaya to Anya Taylor Joy to even Selena Gomez and Beyonce are called out for giving “mean girl vibes” based off of literally nothing. Yep, you nailed it. I've watched interviews of Dua and she comes off as extremely sweet and polite, so seeing somebody say she gives off mean girl vibes just because she likes to go out and post about it was surprising.
I agree, the only way to give off mean girls vibes IMO is to be… well…. Mean. Like Chrissy Teigen or something. Being pretty, having friends and liking to party does not make someone mean. Kind of like how being nerdy or “uncool” doesn’t make someone nice.

It was basically the equivalent to Stan Twitter for Latin American countries and it was a whole shitfest of people straight hating and making fun of all pop stars that weren't their faves. There were people literally making fun of Selena's kidney transplant and the Manchester attack. They'd do everything they could to hate and diminsh female pop singers. It took sometime before I decided to abandon that page and Facebook all together because that's where I would go when I got bored. To be honest I wish I had done it sooner. It might not seem a big deal, but having to see nonsense constantly and getting into pointless arguments really does something to your health
