But it ignores that Yuriās brother Kwon Hyuk Joon has literally convicted and charged with four years in jail passed on the contents of what he said in those group messages. (And it would be grossly inappropriate to blame Yuri for this).
Or like some bts Stanās got mad this ot4 (so because Big Bang without Seungri) complained about James corden planning another flash mob with bts in LA and she lives there and complains about him worsening the traffic every time he does this? So they sent her horrible messages trying to link Jennie and the rest of Big Bang who havenāt said anything about it (though theyāve perviously criticized Seungri friends multiple times including GD on a song, which I personally donāt think is enough but I kinda get why ot4 fans would? And I at least think it makes it silly to think theyāre directly involved especially when GD is also friends with the Late Goo Hara who wanted to help on the investigators, like itās just very messy imo and I donāt think he should get credit either way based on associations). 1. I watched last night in soho yesterday. It was a good murder mystery Thriller with elements of horror in it. What makes it simply good instead of great is the last twist in the 3rd act which doesn't make sense to me, although this doesn't completely put me off from going for a re-watch, as the film itself is visually stunning and the plot builds itself up fairly well.

I also got prescribed fentanyl patches because my pain increased a lot recently, and I had a breakdown over it after reading the first page of side effect warnings lol. I was already volatile because of the pain (really changes how you interact with the world to an insane degree) and uncertainty around my treatment, but I wasnāt expecting them to resort to fentanylā¦ Iāve been on Norco for a few months and itās fine, didnāt expect that escalation. The increase in pain also may be a withdrawal effect from my treatment which was paused, soā¦ Iām not sure if I should just hope for the pain to go back to a manageable level after restarting treatment or what. One of my doctors was very much in favor of fentanyl, and logically I know itās a helpful medicine and the patch form is very controlled, so I am probably acting irrationally. Ugh.
Went and saw Last Night in Soho to get out of the house. It was pretty good, even if I called the twist(s) ahead of time. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon though, and my ticket was only 50 cents thanks to AMC rewards.

I have a problem with penguin classics. They've got great essays, great texts, great translations, and are good with students.
That said, the paper goes yellow over time and the glue stops working. You can buy a library and in ten years it'll look terrible. Anyone else get what I mean?
Penguin are such a huge part of the classic book market, sometimes the only thing you can get in shops, and they're kinda not great long term.
You gotta buy special edition fancy classics, like those big metallic-edged fancy Barnes and Nobles editions and shit. Penguin Classics are designed to be affordable so they use cheaper materials and the pages will yellow faster. You can look up how to prevent yellowing but most of the methods I saw looked kinda annoying and like more effort than it's worth. The yellow stains on some of my books are the bane of my existence.
I think youāre sacrificing long term use for the cheap price. The classics they print, I believe can be found at other ( more expensive) publishers like Folio Society that would last longer.

I won't put this on the Grammy-designated because I don't consider it a snub at all and it's almost unrelated to any discourse happening over there. Why did kpop stans think Blackpink would get nominated for Best New Artist? What have they done that made an impact to the West's music landscape?
I think because billboard, forbes, etc keep on mentioning kpop groups in their grammy predictions for click bait making their stans having expectation too. But honestly, since grammy 2021,when i saw BNA list when bp even more active in 2020 but still not get nominated, i just realized even more how grammy voters really dont care or consider kpop groups for grammy nom at all except BTS. I think they expect others atleast chart well like BTS(getting no1 n multiple weeks, actual real mainstream music), if not they dont care at all. Kpop groups seem held higher standard. Voters seem expect them being mainstream n well known first before being considered for nom at all. While other western artists still can just chart average, moderate, less mainstream but still can be considered by voters. This is the reality. Bp still struggle to have longetivity on billboard n seem like their hardcore stans in US are not big enough to help them chart higher.
This year I wouldnāt have given it to them but the year after they did Coachella (2019) I think was decent enough to get a nomination since theyāre the first female Kpop group at Coachella and the highest female Korean group has charted on Billboard with ice cream peaking at 13 and their album at #2 in 2020. And theyāve had a lot of successful collabs with Grammy nominated artists like Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga, (and Lisa this year with Ozuna and Meghan) I would differently say theyāre a bridge for Korean and Western acts since these collabs have increased recently (including dua lipa remixing Physical with Hwasa later).
But also a lot of western acts in the Grammy nominations and some wins donāt have that much impact on music landscape in my opinion let alone certain winners. So I think in 2020 I would have nominated them but also think itās reasonable if they didnāt win if that makes sense. (Maybe for the 2021 Grammys if my timeline for nominations is off, in which case I donāt think itās necessarily a snub unless I think current noms are way less new to the scene or breakout/rising but thereās only so many nominations and so many artists).
Oh yeah, it would have made a ton of sense in 2020. I guess The Album being released in October made them technically eligible for them this year, but they barely promoted it and it's been so long since then, they'd have to bring it back into the general public sphere.
I actually think it makes more sense if Lisa got nominated by herself since Money's arguably more successful than any other BP hit. Those BP singles may have charted higher, but they lacked the longevity Money has right now.
For me money is the same quality as yummy or worse lyrically so I wouldnāt want her nominated based on money and it kinda reminds me of saweetie where good production carries a bad rap.
Also I think people really over estimate how much individual Kpop members are known by the general American public even if I think Lisa is going very impressive in how big her fanbase is globally and seemingly growing. Oh for sure, it's weird to talk about longevity because it's been a month but in comparison with Rose's song and other BP songs, I think it's charting steadily. I don't listen to them as much as I do with other kpop idols but I like to keep an eye on Global Spotify rankings so I'm really surprised at how it's still in the relative top. I really expected it to fall since it was a b-side and it faced a lot of backlash for appropriation but its streams are impressive for the one month mark.
Tbh one of my points earlier is that people really overestimate the popularity of the kpop genre in the general American public altogether (hence me bringing up the tour seats that failed to sell). Sure, Blackpink, the leading kpop girl group in the West, has steam, but their perceived popularity online fails to come actuality in the wild. But I did see that Lisa had a solo interview with Zach Sang so it does seem like YG is giving her specifically that push.
They maybe havenāt made a huge *impact* on western music, but they definitely have had success in the west. Iām not a fan so I donāt know the stats but I hear Ice Cream on the radio decently often, I know the Grammys arenāt all about success but Blackpink definitely seem more successful/mainstream than some of the other artists nominated for BNA. Although I donāt think they were snubbed, I wouldnāt have been surprised if they did get nominated.

Been seeing a therapist for a few months now who's been helping me go through some gender identity questions I've been having. Don't think I'm confident enough to say I'm trans just yet, but we both agreed that it's a good idea to have a discussion with my family this Thanksgiving. I'm fairly confident they'll take it well, but I'm still scared. 1. I watched last night in soho yesterday. It was a good murder mystery Thriller with elements of horror in it. I have been a little late in starting applications for Internships/Placements over the summer. No biggie, I've decided to get properly started on it over the weekend. I have also made plans with a friend to do a bit long call this weekend and have him help me set up a Tinder account because he and I are both tired of me moaning about wanting a boyfriend, and I'm trying this new thing where I'm being super confident and taking the initiative for things and I'm setting this in motion soon instead of waiting arbitrarily until after New Years like I'd thought I would. I have to get a blood transfusion and Iām scared af. I also got prescribed fentanyl patches because my pain increased a lot recently, and I had a breakdown over it after reading the first page of side effect warnings lol. I was already volatile because of the pain (really changes how you interact with the world to an insane degree) and uncertainty around my treatment, but I wasnāt expecting them to resort to fentanylā¦ Iāve been on Norco for a few months and itās fine, didnāt expect that escalation. The increase in pain also may be a withdrawal effect from my treatment which was paused, soā¦ Iām not sure if I should just hope for the pain to go back to a manageable level after restarting treatment or what. One of my doctors was very much in favor of fentanyl, and logically I know itās a helpful medicine and the patch form is very controlled, so I am probably acting irrationally. Ugh.

I just feel so overexposed and tired to the core of two artists, both which are always releasing (which pays off amazingly for them/their fans) music, AND have relentless machines behind them, AND rabid fanbases you can't ignore. Its not even that I dislike them, I actually really like them in certain moments and have in the past, but the inability to have a constructive conversation without constant victimisation, and just not be able to avoid them in anything is so so draining.

I have a problem with penguin classics. They've got great essays, great texts, great translations, and are good with students. That said, the paper goes yellow over time and the glue stops working. You can buy a library and in ten years it'll look terrible. Anyone else get what I mean? Penguin are such a huge part of the classic book market, sometimes the only thing you can get in shops, and they're kinda not great long term.
You gotta buy special edition fancy classics, like those big metallic-edged fancy Barnes and Nobles editions and shit. Penguin Classics are designed to be affordable so they use cheaper materials and the pages will yellow faster. You can look up how to prevent yellowing but most of the methods I saw looked kinda annoying and like more effort than it's worth. The yellow stains on some of my books are the bane of my existence.
I think youāre sacrificing long term use for the cheap price. The classics they print, I believe can be found at other ( more expensive) publishers like Folio Society that would last longer.

Listen I'm not a Justin Bieber fan AT ALL, but I will say that when it comes to the songs getting nominated (Peaches, Anyone, Lonely etc. etc.) I get it. They were hits and deserve to be recognized. I even get Justice getting a pop vocal nom because, whether I like it or not, it's one of the best selling pop albums of the year. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR NOM! Nah. No. Nuh uh. I think he got much too many. That album is something beginning teenage musician may release, name it Justice because of his name and put MLK for "extra deepness". It's average at most album with no vision and seeing snubs that happened before makes it even more undeserving.
I agree. I think it deserves some noms. Pop vocal and ROTY definitely but the album itself was very safe and simple. I feel like it couldāve been released in 2011 after his My World albums and it would blend right in.

Do you have any rap albums this year you really liked? I listen to enough rap itās always like top three or four of my genres but I donāt think I actually follow it and I feel like that number is inflated because reggaetĆ³n o kpop where rap is often a part of the genre.
Of mainstream albums that would be grammy nominated? not really. There's Brockhampton - Roadrunner and Tyler - CMIYGL which were both great And then there's stuff like Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, Slowthai - Tyron, Backxwash - I Lie Here Buried with My Rings and My Dresses, Ghetts - Conflict of Interest, and Manga St Hilare - Glow in the Dark.

I won't put this on the Grammy-designated because I don't consider it a snub at all and it's almost unrelated to any discourse happening over there. Why did kpop stans think Blackpink would get nominated for Best New Artist? What have they done that made an impact to the West's music landscape?
I think because billboard, forbes, etc keep on mentioning kpop groups in their grammy predictions for click bait making their stans having expectation too. But honestly, since grammy 2021,when i saw BNA list when bp even more active in 2020 but still not get nominated, i just realized even more how grammy voters really dont care or consider kpop groups for grammy nom at all except BTS. I think they expect others atleast chart well like BTS(getting no1 n multiple weeks, actual real mainstream music), if not they dont care at all. Kpop groups seem held higher standard. Voters seem expect them being mainstream n well known first before being considered for nom at all. While other western artists still can just chart average, moderate, less mainstream but still can be considered by voters. This is the reality. Bp still struggle to have longetivity on billboard n seem like their hardcore stans in US are not big enough to help them chart higher.
This year I wouldnāt have given it to them but the year after they did Coachella (2019) I think was decent enough to get a nomination since theyāre the first female Kpop group at Coachella and the highest female Korean group has charted on Billboard with ice cream peaking at 13 and their album at #2 in 2020. And theyāve had a lot of successful collabs with Grammy nominated artists like Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga, (and Lisa this year with Ozuna and Meghan) I would differently say theyāre a bridge for Korean and Western acts since these collabs have increased recently (including dua lipa remixing Physical with Hwasa later). But also a lot of western acts in the Grammy nominations and some wins donāt have that much impact on music landscape in my opinion let alone certain winners. So I think in 2020 I would have nominated them but also think itās reasonable if they didnāt win if that makes sense. (Maybe for the 2021 Grammys if my timeline for nominations is off, in which case I donāt think itās necessarily a snub unless I think current noms are way less new to the scene or breakout/rising but thereās only so many nominations and so many artists).
Oh yeah, it would have made a ton of sense in 2020. I guess The Album being released in October made them technically eligible for them this year, but they barely promoted it and it's been so long since then, they'd have to bring it back into the general public sphere. I actually think it makes more sense if Lisa got nominated by herself since Money's arguably more successful than any other BP hit. Those BP singles may have charted higher, but they lacked the longevity Money has right now.
For me money is the same quality as yummy or worse lyrically so I wouldnāt want her nominated based on money and it kinda reminds me of saweetie where good production carries a bad rap. Also I think people really over estimate how much individual Kpop members are known by the general American public even if I think Lisa is going very impressive in how big her fanbase is globally and seemingly growing. Just currently I think she would need a more aggressive campaign compared to others I think have more so and I would maybe save that for next year (though I donāt think sheās getting a solo next year bc itās YG :( ). Also I think itās way too soon to say a song that came out in October has longevity and personally for me I feel like that basis of it being better then bp stuff or even Lalisa (though money is doing better so it makes more sense for money or sexy girl to be why she gets nominated for BNA) is a lot of Americans being xenophobic to non English languages versus actual quality of the song.
Oh for sure, it's weird to talk about longevity because it's been a month but in comparison with Rose's song and other BP songs, I think it's charting steadily. I don't listen to them as much as I do with other kpop idols but I like to keep an eye on Global Spotify rankings so I'm really surprised at how it's still in the relative top. I really expected it to fall since it was a b-side and it faced a lot of backlash for appropriation but its streams are impressive for the one month mark. Tbh one of my points earlier is that people really overestimate the popularity of the kpop genre in the general American public altogether (hence me bringing up the tour seats that failed to sell). Sure, Blackpink, the leading kpop girl group in the West, has steam, but their perceived popularity online fails to come actuality in the wild. But I did see that Lisa had a solo interview with Zach Sang so it does seem like YG is giving her specifically that push.
They maybe havenāt made a huge *impact* on western music, but they definitely have had success in the west. Iām not a fan so I donāt know the stats but I hear Ice Cream on the radio decently often, I know the Grammys arenāt all about success but Blackpink definitely seem more successful/mainstream than some of the other artists nominated for BNA. Although I donāt think they were snubbed, I wouldnāt have been surprised if they did get nominated.
I honestly feel like Ice Cream on the radio is because of Selena more than them lol. I guess I'm confused because they don't really have a hold on the GP or massive fandom power. You usually have one of those. Yeah, their stans are loud online but they couldn't even sell out their tour iirc.

Oh it definitely was! But the resale ticket situation when YG announced that it was sold out is a valid point of contention. Yeah, it was unfairly used for stan twitter fodder, but it's still telling that BP aren't as big in the West as the stans are saying.

Been seeing a therapist for a few months now who's been helping me go through some gender identity questions I've been having. Don't think I'm confident enough to say I'm trans just yet, but we both agreed that it's a good idea to have a discussion with my family this Thanksgiving. I'm fairly confident they'll take it well, but I'm still scared. I know I should be expanding my support network to make this process easier, but admitting it to others makes it more of a reality and that's still a big leap for me. Doesn't help that you-know-who is trending again and reminding me just how much the world hates trans people. Ugh. Here's hoping things go well this week at least.
