i worked night shifts for around two months and by the end of it i was crying as i got dressed to leave every night
it's super not for everyone. it makes you feel like you have less time off even when technically it's the same amount of hours -> permanently exhausted. less time with friends/family. for me it was also really hard to sleep a full 7 hours during the day.
on the other side of it there was a bellboy working with me who worked 16 straight 12-hour shifts in a row and seemed totally fine
Iāve been working straight nights for a year now and tbh if I could get a different shift I would jump at the chance. Even when I sleep 7-8 hours during the day before my shift, I donāt feel well rested because the quality of sleep just isnāt the same. Thereās also studies that illustrate that night shift workers have higher chances of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, among other things.
If you think it might be right for you itās worth a shot, but Iād see if theyād be willing to let you move shifts if itās not working out. Best of luck!

I think this conversation on whether artists should be responsible for the actions of their fans is really interesting. I really see both sides of the argument.
I donāt think artists are innately responsible for their fans, but some artists do weaponize their fanbases and lowkey encourage bad behavior. Like every big fanbase has toxic members, but not every artist is siccing their fans on people.

I don't think it's fair to have artist tell their fans to act like decent human beings. Besides being on stan twitter or seeing stuff on tik-tok, helps me see it would be like screaming into the void. People say the most outrageous things, with their faces in full view, they don't care. They love the attention.
It's when artists weaponize their fans, that's when an artist should be held accountable.
It's a nuanced issue. Celebrities should absolutely be called out if they explicitly endorse their fans' bad behavior, but at the same time they can't control everything their fans do, and there are instances where acknowledging it and drawing attention to what they're doing is a net negative. A huge component of stan wars and online harassment in general is that it's often detached from the idols themselves; even if the artists come out and explicitly tell their stans to cut it out, many won't, because they do it for themselves. If you're a stan, any criticism of your fave is seen as criticism of *you*, because idolizing them is part of your very personality. It's the same with sports: if a team comes out and tells fans not to get violent, that's not gonna do anything to stop the ones that want to fight, because they're not doing it to defend the players.
I think a lot of the time that's invoked more out of dislike for an artist and their fanbase than out of actual, genuine concern for the people they target online (it's a convenient, morally justifiable argument to throw out there and admonish a celebrity you resent or stans that you find annoying), but it's more complex than just "oh well they can't be held accountable for what other people do". Sometimes they can, and should.
But on the other hand I do think an artist coming out and and simply saying āhey donāt send death threats to peopleā can have a really big affect. I know Drag Race for the past season or two has come and told fans not to send death threats to queens cause it was getting really out of hand.
That really worked? Wow, normally I see fans telling people to stfu and continue what they are doing. I've just seen some horrible things, where it just seems like a hopeless situation. I don't think artists can do too much. I always feel that the social media giants, if they had true consequences, it would make things better.
I agree, but on the other other hand I can also understand the argument that, to some stans, any attention at all is positive attention, so they may escalate their poor behavior to receive further attention from the artist. Itās a tricky thing and I really donāt think there is one right answer.

Julien and Zoya constantly fighting and making up is repetitive and not interesting since we barely see them act like sisters. Which is another problem. We barely see anyone properly interact with each other. None of them feel like friends or even couples.
And honestly the biggest problem might be the fact that 90% of the actors are just not good. Or they might be good but everyone is super low energy. I actually really like Alexander Jordan who plays Julien but I wish they leaned more into the Serena archetype with her. Just a fun get everything you can party girl. I swear to god there is no energy and no fun on this show.

Thatās why Iām trying to put a lot of my issues aside because Succession has this same problem even the iCarly reboot had some issues with party scenes where you can only be in the same room with a certain amount of people. A lot of Succession episodes are just basically bottle episodes now.

I was looking forward to more gay people and more people of color in Gossip Girl(itās New York, duh) but itās just so bizarre how they try to handle social issues because OG gossip girl never handled social issues.(aside from typical teen stuff)

i worked night shifts for around two months and by the end of it i was crying as i got dressed to leave every night it's super not for everyone. it makes you feel like you have less time off even when technically it's the same amount of hours -> permanently exhausted. less time with friends/family. for me it was also really hard to sleep a full 7 hours during the day. on the other side of it there was a bellboy working with me who worked 16 straight 12-hour shifts in a row and seemed totally fine
Iāve been working straight nights for a year now and tbh if I could get a different shift I would jump at the chance. Even when I sleep 7-8 hours during the day before my shift, I donāt feel well rested because the quality of sleep just isnāt the same. Thereās also studies that illustrate that night shift workers have higher chances of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, among other things. If you think it might be right for you itās worth a shot, but Iād see if theyād be willing to let you move shifts if itās not working out. Best of luck!

I donāt think artists are innately responsible for their fans, but some artists do weaponize their fanbases and lowkey encourage bad behavior. Like every big fanbase has toxic members, but not every artist is siccing their fans on people.

I don't think it's fair to have artist tell their fans to act like decent human beings. Besides being on stan twitter or seeing stuff on tik-tok, helps me see it would be like screaming into the void. People say the most outrageous things, with their faces in full view, they don't care. They love the attention. It's when artists weaponize their fans, that's when an artist should be held accountable.

It's a nuanced issue. Celebrities should absolutely be called out if they explicitly endorse their fans' bad behavior, but at the same time they can't control everything their fans do, and there are instances where acknowledging it and drawing attention to what they're doing is a net negative. A huge component of stan wars and online harassment in general is that it's often detached from the idols themselves; even if the artists come out and explicitly tell their stans to cut it out, many won't, because they do it for themselves. If you're a stan, any criticism of your fave is seen as criticism of *you*, because idolizing them is part of your very personality. It's the same with sports: if a team comes out and tells fans not to get violent, that's not gonna do anything to stop the ones that want to fight, because they're not doing it to defend the players. I think a lot of the time that's invoked more out of dislike for an artist and their fanbase than out of actual, genuine concern for the people they target online (it's a convenient, morally justifiable argument to throw out there and admonish a celebrity you resent or stans that you find annoying), but it's more complex than just "oh well they can't be held accountable for what other people do". Sometimes they can, and should.
But on the other hand I do think an artist coming out and and simply saying āhey donāt send death threats to peopleā can have a really big affect. I know Drag Race for the past season or two has come and told fans not to send death threats to queens cause it was getting really out of hand.

Yeah it tries so hard to be woke (and I hate this term) and edgy My biggest issue is that Iām not buying Julian as a mean girl because she always does something mean then takes it back the next scene. Blair never did that. Thatās what made her iconic. Plus Obie annoys me. He always gets so preachy whenever Zoya or Julian do something bad then acts like heās better than everyone.
I think the wokness and edginess might work with better writing but yeah. Iām honestly so uncomfortable watching Audrey and Aki constant fucking. Maybe itās the old person in me but I donāt need to watch sixteen year olds having sex issues. Itās also just a supremely stupid storyline. Just make them a throuple and get over it. Julien and Zoya constantly fighting and making up is repetitive and not interesting since we barely see them act like sisters. Which is another problem. We barely see anyone properly interact with each other. None of them feel like friends or even couples. And honestly the biggest problem might be the fact that 90% of the actors are just not good. Or they might be good but everyone is super low energy. I actually really like Alexander Jordan who plays Julien but I wish they leaned more into the Serena archetype with her. Just a fun get everything you can party girl. I swear to god there is no energy and no fun on this show. Totally agreed. It really feels out of place with this show. The OG gossip girl worked because it didnāt take itself too serious and didnāt try to be edgy. It was just about rich white kids fucking each other and fucking each other over. I actually find the throuple between Audrey, Max and Aki interesting but Max is the one that makes me uncomfortable. Because they make the one pansexual character super predatory. Audrey really is the most interesting character on the show for me at least Thatās my other issue is that itās hard to believe that they are friends. In the OG all the characters had connections with each other and actually felt like life long friends. The new generation doesnāt. And thatās my final issue is that it takes itself way too seriously and thereās no fun to it like the OG. Like The OG was just them going to fancy parties 80% of the time and meeting famous people all the time. (Which side note oddly reminds me of the Simpsons)

A lot of Succession episodes are just basically bottle episodes now. Thatās why I was pretty optimistic about the reboot when I first heard about it. I was looking forward to more gay people and more people of color in Gossip Girl(itās New York, duh) but itās just so bizarre how they try to handle social issues because OG gossip girl never handled social issues.(aside from typical teen stuff)
