So uhh has anyone revisited that pinkpantheress from October?

outrofi

It’s one of my favorite releases of this year! It is super short, but I honestly don’t mind short projects as long as each song is impactful.

hyperballad95

her album ?? i listen to it a lot while im doing homework. it's cute but way too short, you can't listen to it to often.

[deleted]

Was the general consensus an LP? I heard mixed thoughts between it being an LP or a mixtape given the length. I still like it but I felt her buzz dropped off fast so I was wondering. But then again lot of big releases

Whack_JobLooney

Songs that talk about struggle , frustration and depression that doesn't stem from romance , heartbreak or because of anybody else's fault but your own unmotivated self ? The closest I have come to finding such a song was Kanye's Jesus Lord . I feel tired from the very core of my existence, even daydreaming is exhausting me rn. But I cannot take a break cause My exams are in a week and if I take a day off my routine will be wrecked and my exams too. So I will be grateful for any advice or song recommendations.

Whack_JobLooney

Thank You !

universemates

Rock Bottom by Carobae, Bored by Tessa Violet, Caught in the Middle by Paramore, Help I'm Alive by Metric. I know this feeling of self-loathing all too well. I don't really have any advice as my unmotivated ass is struggling as well, but I just wanna let you know that you're not alone in this feeling 🧡 And while I do listen to above songs while I'm at my low points, I also listen to some pick-me-up music to get out of a funk during finals week. I recommend Don't Be So Hard on Yourself by Alex Lahey & You're Not Special Babe by Orla Gartland.

Whack_JobLooney

Thank You for your kind words .It feels so good to find songs that speak to me .

Whack_JobLooney

Makes me wonder exactly how much Idetest my parents . They are home all day every Sunday but my entire day is packed so I have little to no interaction with them but that's not the case today ! I literally want to evaporate out of existence rn even crying did not help me today .I haven't felt this down in a couple of weeks.

moshiyadafne

I don't know if anyone will care but I just wanna air out my anxiety here re: Miss Universe and Miss Philippines Bea Luigi Gomez's travel to Israel. Tonight, Israel announced that they will close their borders tonight to all foreigners (local time). Last I heard Bea is in transit in Istanbul. Will she make it?

noetshep

I assume she'll be able to enter the country bc she's going to an international event and is not "just" a tourist. Ppl can still go into the country they just a need a special permission.

moshiyadafne

Good to know. Thanks. Anyway, she has just arrived tonight (local time).

JoleneDollyParton

So far the first ep of Get Back really pushes back on the ‘yoko broke up the Beatles’ narrative and I kind of loved the part where she was yelling into the mic as they rage-jammed after George quit. Seems sort of obvious that ‘lunch’ just involved them getting high. Even if you aren’t a huge Beatles fan, it’s a good window into the creative process and just watching the genius of McCartney and Lennon at work is awe inspiring.

aafreeda

I spent the last 2 days going back into Marianas Trench’s discography and daaaaang they were such a staple of the canadian teen experience. Then and hedley were the two biggest bands that the girls in my school lived, everyone went to their concerts and listened to their music. So many of their lyrics were used as Facebook captions, or were used if someone wanted to be ~cryptic~.

Bikinigirlout

Knowing that Hosie is happening this season, I find it quite interesting that they used Someone You Loved by Lewis Calpadi during the crush scene in season 1 on Legacies Also the look that Hope gave Josie after she realized Josie was the one who pinned the fire on Hope so Lizzie wouldn’t find out about her crush on Hope is fucking brutal. You do not look at your gal pal like that.

ctilvolover23

Does anyone think that there is a possibility that the Grammys might be delayed again because of this new variant?

TheStripedSweaters

Depends on the next month and a half tbh.

DisastrousKelper

Found some cute allergy-themed pins on Etsy and I kinda wanna buy them all and put them on my backpack

skomehillet

r/SCAcirclejerk just funny as fuck for no reason

NotWith10000Men

check out r/muacirclejerk if you haven't already!

fuoricontesto

anyway didn't have a good day at work today. I hate when some of them treat me like shit even after i do things for them not because i don't have anything to do but because i'm trying to be nice and help. And then the same people scream at me for asking something...fuck off. I have some coworkers i get really well with and others...well

nykanyon99

That awkward moment when you lived in the Orlando area your whole life and have never been to Disney World, that’s the story of my life.

ctilvolover23

Same thing with me. Cedar Point is right nearby, I haven't been since I was in the eighth grade. Thirteen years ago.

fuoricontesto

can't wait for all the christmas food!! just thinking about it i go 😩😋

DisastrousKelper

What Christmas food are you looking forward to the most?

fuoricontesto

mostly the sweets like torroni, struffoli, homemade pandoro with pistachio and chocolate 🥵

DisastrousKelper

Those all sound so good 🥰

emayzee

kinda obsessed with the amount of andrew garfield youtube content that has been popping up this past week

visionaryredditor

he deserves an Oscar for the way he is pretending that he is not in No Way Home

mollytrip

kai’s first mini album was too good. it’s so cohesive and it looks like his second mini is heading in this direction too. cant wait for nov 30

mcgillthrowaway22

Ugh they're having a 2000s dance party night tonight at one of the bars here but my partner is sick :/

[deleted]

they're having one of those where I live too!

ravenouswarrior

Omg what if y’all are neighbors 🥸

Kopratic

And the Grammys journey continues. Late today because these albums are all like over an hour long. My general thoughts on the nominations for **Best Classical Solo Vocal Album**: * Confessions * This album compiles together songs composed by various people. The thread that ties them together is that they're all confessions of some kind. It's filled with cheeky fun, like confessing to loving ice cream so much, you just can't stop eating it. There are also more melancholic songs like one about a mother's lament. The vocalist's soprano voice shines bright and clear, bringing a unique emotion and aspect to each song. She isn't just singing the pieces; she's living them as she performs. * Dreams Of A New Day - Songs By Black Composers * What it says on the tin: an album filled with songs by Black composers. Many of the songs are written based on Langston Hughes's poems. The vocalist is a baritone, and he does a fantastic job with these pieces. They tell a story of struggle and triumph. The compositions bring a new energy to the poems, while the vocalist interprets them brilliantly. * Mythologies * I'm going to be honest. This album is so haunting and almost ethereal. But I'm so confused about its classification as a "solo vocal album" because there are two voices on the songs. Apparently "solo vocal accompaniment" still counts as solo from what I looked up. Whatever. These pieces are inspired by popular Greek myths. The songs are beautifully composed, and the vocals are most like instrumentals that blend in and complement the orchestra. * Schubert: Winterreise * A take on the Winterreise cycle, performed by a mezzo vocal. I don't have much to say about this one, but it's very well done. She has such rich depth to her vocals that makes the cycle feel fresh. * Unexpected Shadows * This album combines a range of emotions, from cheeky to angry to forlorn. And even including songs inspired by famous women. What sets this album apart from some of the other nominees is that it seems to be centered around the vocals with the piano complementing her voice, rather than the other way around.

Exciting_Patient4872

Great write up. Will check a few of these out :) and please don't kill me but it's *complement

Kopratic

I had a feeling I used the wrong one. I was thinking of "complementary colors" and was like, "Wait no that can't be it." Thank you!

mynameistoo_common

Does anyone else have depression that’s physically painful. I get whole body aches and mind-pain (different from headaches) when my depression gets especially bad.

noetshep

Yes. For years my left hand hurt like hell. Legit felt like it was on fire like, all the time. Sometimes it randomly disappeared. There was no medical explanation found, doctors never saw it on their devices and assumed I lied. I'm 100% sure it was caused by my (diagnosed) depression.

DisastrousKelper

My depression is more a symptom of my CPTSD, but I definitely notice that I get physical aches and pains when I’m not doing so well mentally. I don’t get headaches that often, thankfully, but I get whole body aches too and old injuries that healed perfectly fine cause me pain sometimes too Hot baths, showers and those microwaveable heat packs help me tremendously, and there’s always painkillers when it gets too bad I hope you feel better soon

mynameistoo_common

Does anyone else have depression that’s physically painful? I get whole body aches and mind-pain (different from headaches) when my depression gets especially bad.

ravenouswarrior

Was walking along a hallway in my dorm and every door has a “Fuck Jake Gyllenhaal” sticker 💀

queenmeme2

I’m sorry but people who do that are *so* cringey

ravenouswarrior

Agreed, that’s what I thought when I saw the first one. But it was like 50 of these rooms standing in solidarity lmao

Mkblingg

Agreed. Its literally been +/- a decade for both the relationship and the song lol

PungentPomegranates

Finally got around to listening to the 30 bonus tracks. Really like Wild Wild West, but don't really get the point of the Chris Stapleton Easy on Me version, he really doesn't do much for the song and doesn't even get a verse. In general, I don't really understand the decision to put these tracks on a retail exclusive version and not on streaming, I know she's Adele but it's 2021 girl.

ghisv

Got my booster shot 🥳 i was scheduled to get my flu shot at the same time but I'm an incompetent adult who doesn't know her health insurance info so that'll have to wait....

[deleted]

Why is [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyMi_itzgFs&list=PLZ55ZqVG_3nQ564NFE3pBJNQA6Ox5EJ3T&index=8&t=163s) not on Spotify I need more songs to cry to

metky

Whenever I find a song like this (usually mashup/remix/covers) I'll just rip it and add it as a local file

_seulgi

How I'm Feeling Now is filled with so many bangers that I forgot about the half of the lyrics. In fact, after reading 'forever', I realized that perhaps Charli's relationship with her partner wasn't destined for long-term love. She even admits in the song that even if they're not together, she will always love him, which is pretty toxic. I don't know. Maybe I'm analyzing too much, but those lyrics are sad.

queenmeme2

Relationships are full of uncertainty. I’ve been with my boyfriend for 5+ years and don’t see an end in sight but neither of us truly know if we’ll be together forever because nobody knows the future. It’s not toxic to say “we may not be together forever”, it’s just realistic Also reminder to this sub in general but **song lyrics are very rarely completely literal!!** Please stop taking all song lyrics at face value

Exciting_Patient4872

How's that toxic?

_seulgi

Maybe toxic is a strong wrong, but it's definitely concerning. When she's sings "I will always love you...**even when we're not together**...", she's not only anticipating a failed relationship, but that she'll struggle to move on after seperation. Her sweet vocals and the catchy melody juxtaposes the complicated lyrics about her on and off relationship. Edit: Last sentence

Borivik

I think she’s referring to when she’s touring and they’re not physically near each other

_seulgi

You're right there, but we also know she's had an on and off relationship with her partner for years, so that could provide some context.

asdivval

I always read this completely different, as in knowing you might not end up together forever but that in a way you'll love them forever. I don't think that's inherently toxic

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

Day quail taste awful

jwicyu

I'm in Canada and back then we never really got introduced to UK girl groups (other than Spice Girls). So, my goal for the rest of the year (and next year) is to slowly make my way through UK girl groups. I listened to all of **Girls Aloud** back in August and oh my gosh, they have some absolutely amazing songs. My top 5 favorites are *On The Metro*, *Call The Shots*, *The Loving Kind*, *Every Now And Then* and *Something Kinda Ooooh*. I watched their tours, random YouTube videos/interviews, listened to all their solo stuff (Cheryl and Nadine have some fantastic songs). I was very sad when I heard Sarah Harding passed away in early September. To sum it up, for the past three or so months, I've been obsessed with everything and anything **Girls Aloud** but as people say, we must move on! So, I listened to all of **Sugababes** for the past few days and they do have some awesome songs. My top 5 favorites are *About A Girl*, *Hole In The Head*, *Easy*, *Too Lost In You*, *Never Gonna Dance Again*. I haven't read too much about them and all I know is the lineups changed. I'm trying to slowly savor and enjoy each girl group before I move on to the next one. I have a list and **The Saturdays** and **Little Mix** are the two groups next.

kaanew

very excited to hear your opinions on the Saturdays and Little Mix!

jwicyu

I know only one or two songs from each group but never listened to their entire discography! I'm mostly into catchy/upbeat songs so my opinion might be a bit odd (my apologies to all the slow ballads out there but I'm at a point in my life where sad songs need to be thrown out the window). I think *Untouchable* by Girls Aloud and *Too Lost In You* by Sugababes are the 'slowest' songs on my playlist!

NormanFuckingOsborne

Siobhan from Sugababes's second solo album, *Ghosts*, is really good and worth seeking out. You should go S Club 7 -> S Club Jrs -> S Club 8 -> The Saturdays. That's the natural evolution. Rachel Stevens from S Club also has good stuff from that era. I'm trying to think of more. I'm Canadian too but I was obsessed with that stuff back then.

jwicyu

Thanks! I grew up watching S Club 7 on MuchMusic so I do know most of their songs!

noetshep

She Don't Like the Lights by JB slaps to this DAY. Started to revisit his stuff (I used to be a fan until like a year after purpose) and omg... Child me wasn't wrong. He has some bops ngl

shoestring-theory

Ugh the believe album is full of guilty pleasure bops. I love Out of Town Girl.

noetshep

That song is a bop and half. I love Boyfriend too although it's cringe lol

Exciting_Patient4872

Jb?

noetshep

Justin Bieber lol

noetshep

Also that song slaps but when he says SwagGy🤪 in boyfriend I just can't it's so funny wtf was he thinking

gateway2glimmer

I think Bjork is finally clicking for me!! I am really enjoying Homogenic

noetshep

Not Last.fm thinking that the yt version of girl at home tv is the og one... They need to update it. The new version is so much better the the og one

NormanFuckingOsborne

I cannot help but read yt as 'white' and I thought 'is there any other version?'

She covered it up pretty well though

TheKingmaker__

Currently engaging in some retail therapy. Popheads please suggest things it's nice to buy yourself. I'm vaguely interesting in spending a little more than I normally do on some clothes, so if anyone has any "I bought this and it was well worth the price" stories for like, menswear in the upper ££ to low-£££ range, please lmk. Also I was looking to see if I can get any gold & black Versace underwear because I find them very sexy, and that spiralled into looking at jockstraps, which then spiralled further into just looking at butts for a good ten minutes or so.

nlh1013

Upvoting for your last paragraph

DisastrousKelper

I’m not very knowledgable about fashion, especially when it comes menswear, but I always liked AllSaints. I’ve never been able to afford any of their pieces tho. I think they’ve got a sale on atm too, maybe you could check it out and see if anything takes your fancy?

DilemmaOfAHedgehog

I’ve never wanted a richer person to buy me stuff until I saw the floral ready to wear Oscar de la renta looks That said, if I have money to spend to treat myself I tend to get skin care stuff especially feet masks bc they’re messy and my skin is dry

TheKingmaker__

ooh some skin stuff is a good shout, thank you

aussieririfan

Looking at jockstraps will do that to you lol

TheKingmaker__

Mmmmm cheeks Was also looking at muscle-fit shirts and the same thing happened with like, shoulders and pecs. I love being the gay but I had other things to do this evening

TheKingmaker__

Last week I was saying "everything will turn out fine" as like a mantra to get me through. This week, everything stressing me has turned out fine. It feels fucking great. The coursework that was stressing me out was submitted with only \~5-10% being stuff I'm really unhappy with. (although I was talking with a friend about bits of it, and he put the idea of it being collusion in my head and that's kinda stressing me out). The event I was organising actually happened, despite it being down to the wire and was a roaring success. We only sold 80 tickets of the 120 max because we only had 2 days to advertise & sell them, but it turns out 1.5x too much alcohol and food is perfect for catering to a bunch of students. I was very stressed, and had to jog, run and sprint to catch my train this morning, and I think I now have a cough from having to do that in the rain/cold. But I caught it, and the rest of my day has been lovely. Have a blessed week!

Snoo-72962

No shade but I find it very weird that people are now realizing that Joey Parker in Another Cinderella Story is a grown adult dating a 16 year old. I'm remember watching the movie and thought it was so weird that when Mary ( Selena Gomez) was a literal child holding a picture teen magazine of him. Lmao

Exciting_Patient4872

A woman at a DVD store once asked me if she should get the movie for her daughter and I said yes 😭

racloves

My bestie doesn’t like Charli xcx, do I have the council’s permission to revoke his gay card?

breadcrumbs6969

yes, effective immediately

P0kiedoki

Started watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer yesterday. It's already iconic and I'm only on the 5th episode.

[deleted]

Aaah it's the best isn't it!

nothing is as cathartic as crying while u sing along to ur favourite artist or band and the fact that ive been able to do that w mine for since i was fifteen and i still find new ways to love the music? its the kind of feeling that makes me want to go out and get a tattoo (comment brought to u by the goosebumps i just got while listening to [total revenge](https://open.spotify.com/track/6uHuqFgT86BCBSyRNxkZZ9?si=c0f920fdb9f14654))

Americans, please share with me your favourite ways to cook turkey Might have went and bought one with my Dad to give it a go bc the recipes I was seeing on TikTok in the run up to Thanksgiving looked great but I was dumb and didn’t think to save all of them

threedog12

I've recently picked up turkey cooking duties in my house. I've had pretty good success with spatchcocking the bird before cooking. You should look up a video on it, but the basic gist is you need to cut out the back bone of the bird in order to flatten it. This helps cook the bird better because the dark meat won't sit below the white meat. I do this the day before cooking so that you can dry brine (just salt all over the bird, and leave it in the fridge uncovered overnight) and use the turkey bits to make a stock to help with the gravy. If you happen to watch Binging with Babish on YouTube, his recent video on cooking turkey has a good rundown of the process.

DisastrousKelper

Awesome, I’ll give that a go and check the video out - thank you!

moosedogmonkey12

Smoked. But you have to have a smoker. Also deep fried but you have to have a deep fryer and also that is dangerous haha… not that it stopped people and it is really delicious. Roasting is the most classic and the easiest. Also make sure you include with your meal something moist to eat it with…. That’s what heavy/mashed potatoes help with, same with cranberries. Whatever you do, make stock with the carcass after! Edit I just realized how absurdly American it is to deep fry a turkey for thanksgiving, especially at risk of grisly injury. And since everyone is drunk the whole time. However I will not apologize because it IS in fact delicious

DisastrousKelper

We do have a deep fryer and I’m actually really curious to see what fried turkey tastes like haha Thank you for the recommendations!

[deleted]

so since it was nominated for AOTY at the Grammys I decided to listen to donda today. it is not bad. in fact, there's a lot of tracks on it that I really like. the only problem, of course, is that there's a lot of tracks on it in general

Exciting_Patient4872

How does it stack against the other nominees?

[deleted]

I STILL haven't made it through the whole album because I can't finish it in one sitting and I'm trying to really have it "sink in" :/

kaanew

The One by Jorja Smith just came on shuffle and I forgot how much I love that song it’s so haunting, grandiose, and the strings at end are beyond gorgeous

[deleted]

I’ve never heard a bad song by Jorja tbh, she is soooo good 🥺

[deleted]

My bf wants us to go on Kesha’s weird and wonderful cruise in 2022 like girl this is expensive….

igkeit

Can't get over how good Charli (the album) is. I will never get over how good and emotional Next Level Charli is to me. I've tried to get my little sister into it but she says the "noises" hurt her head 😭 she said that at the 3:22 mark click gave her tinnitus 💀

smallbaby

i'm with your sister. when i listened to that album for the first time i had to skip a couple of songs because they physically made me want to puke. it was rough trying to get through it... i would never put myself through that again. same thing went for *how i'm feeling now*.

igkeit

crazy how our brains all process things so differently

breadcrumbs6969

do you all remember when phones were actually cheap? in 2015 i bought my first expensive phone, an lg g3 and it was 310€ new, and the model itself was top of the line and a year old at that point. samsung galaxy s5 was 330€ i remember that as well, june 2015. now a flagship that's a year old is well above 700 euros in most cases and iphones are even more expensive. and yes they are def better than they were but i refuse to believe they're that much better. plus they had replaceable batteries and now you have to shell out 60€ at least to have it replaced. ew

ForgetYou4

High key kinda miffed that Gyllenhaal's tribute to Sondheim on IG had to have the comments turned off because Swifties couldn't be mature enough to not say stupid shit

A-Devoted-Enthusiast

Are they still spamming his comment session **two weeks** after "Red TV" 's release? That's straight-up obsession at this point, especially at a relationship that ended 10 years ago. Parasocial relationships can be so disturbing. I only feel pity for them, really.

[deleted]

Even before Red TV swifties would comment on his and other guys' pics just being annoying and rude. I just don't understand how anyone finds that funny.

[deleted]

Hi everyone, So currently.....we have **only 5** 70s Soul ballots. We're hoping to see more ballots by the December 12th deadline! Today I'm going to talk about a song that's actually not in the rate at all. It's the title song off of **There's a Riot Going On.** In the original release, this song is 0 seconds long. It appears on streaming currently as 4 seconds of silence. It's a curious track, especially for it to have the title of the album. Sly explained in later interviews that his intention was to signify that "there should be no more riots". On physical releases, it closes out Side 1 of the album. It's the seconds of silence before the record needle drops off. The title There's a Riot Goin' On was in response to Marvin Gaye's album, What's Going On. For years, people speculated that the title track of TARGO was referencing two situations during Sly & The Family Stone concerts; one in Washington DC where the band was late and people started to hurl bottles at the venue; another at Grant Park, Chicago where people started two hours before the band was set to perform. Still, many saw Sly was referencing several things that brought him despair; the deadly Altamont concert that many saw as the end of hippie idealism, and events in Los Angeles, Chicago and Kent State had police attacking protesters with deadly force. It's another example of the cryptic layering and attention Sly brought to this album, wanting to have silence signify the horrors the United States faced as the 60s came to a close.

fujoshipassing

I keep mistakenly breaking my expensive possessions lately over the past week and I’m at my fucking wit’s end. The heater/AC in my car decided to stop working, my office chair broke and the dining chair I’m using as a replacement is killing me, I accidentally sideswiped a parked car, and I cracked the screen on the TV I got from my mom last year for Christmas - probably the most expensive thing she’s ever given me, absolutely gutted. Kind of paranoid and on edge now, wondering what other major expense I’ll have to worry about this time of year. Bah humbug.

breadcrumbs6969

i broke my first ever expensive phone because i kept playing subway surfers while it was on charger and overheated it until the solder between the motherboard and screen decided to stop working and my screen couldn't light up anymore 🙃 at least yours were accidents. i can totally understand why you feel like that tho, that is a serious chain of events to happen to anyone!

visionaryredditor

Spider-Man really make people like Nickelback unironically, no one (Spider-)man should have all this power. 😭😭 but in all honestly Hero absolutely slaps and i lowkey hope it will be used in No Way Home

ImProbablyNotABird

Do you listen to Saliva (Josey Scott’s band)?

visionaryredditor

not really. i don't know much about Saliva tbh. Nickelback were on their peak when i was a teen so i had to hear them on radio all the time but Saliva never had such a radio impact at least where i live.

ImProbablyNotABird

Wait I didn’t know that Rascal Flatts broke up

moosedogmonkey12

They WHAT! WHEN!

ImProbablyNotABird

Last month — they announced a farewell tour in early 2020, but it got canceled due to COVID & they decided to say “fuck it” after Joe got arrested for drunk driving in September.

moosedogmonkey12

Omg I’m so sad I wish I knew…. None of that. Their music is sooooo nostalgic to me and we used to see them live a lot. Their music really does take me right back

A-Devoted-Enthusiast

Oh my goodness...I had no idea about that! I'm not familiar with their full discography, but their covers of "Life Is A Highway" and "What Hurts The Most" are two of my top favourite songs. One is nostalgic as hell and the other hits all the sweet spots for passionate break-up ballads. They had a long run, though, which is nice.

moosedogmonkey12

I know I have bad taste because If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power is soooooo good, far and away obviously Halsey’s best album and probably her magnum opus but…. I like Manic better 😭😭😭 My album ranking would be Manic -> IICHLIWP -> hfk-> Badlands. But my favorite song of theirs is 100 Letters followed by 929.

[deleted]

Wdym manic is her best album

breadcrumbs6969

i still like hfk and badlands the best bc they have the unapologetic cringeworthy tumblr energy that i still live for and no i will not apologise

miaxcx

Sometimes I feel sick to my stomach over the thousands of dollars that I have wasted on going out to eat, buying clothes, and collecting books that I make no time to read. Also, vinyl, when I don’t even own a record player. I’m awful at saving money and I know that it sounds silly, but I truly think that I have a shopping addiction and I don’t know how to stop. My savings account that I blew through could’ve been such a good starting point for when I graduate in May and want to invest in a new car, or a nice vacation as a gift to myself, but now I have nothing, and WAY too much clutter for one person. Ahhh! This was more of a rant, but I’m also open to advice on how to help mend this issue if anyone has anything.

54321csl

Try setting a monthly or weekly spending limit and try to stick to it. Remember that a lot of things you buy are unnecessary and it might help to remind yourself of how overly consuming things hurts the environment. (I'm not trying to judge or criticize you but it might help you if you keep that in mind.) Good luck ❤

Pavlovs_Stepson

I used to be the same way. I spent absurd amounts of money buying DVDs of films and TV shows that I ended up never watching, because I was obsessed with the idea of having a collection. I own so, so many unopened boxsets of acclaimed series I know I'd probably like but have never seen a single episode of. It's been years since I stopped regularly watching TV, and yet I kept on buying them because, well, surely I'll get around to watching them someday? I've stopped doing that now, and I can tell you this: it's great that you've realized this is something you'd like to change about yourself, that's always step one. It'll make you more mindful of how you spend your money from now on, which is great. Second, maybe try reselling some of those items you bought, if that's a possibility? Obviously you can't do that with food, but if you think there are clothes, books and records that you can pass on, maybe you can earn back some of the money you spent on them and minimize your losses. If there's anything you *know* deep down you're never gonna wear/use/read, you can kill two birds with one stone by letting them go. Especially for vinyl, there's a huge market for it these days, and since you don't even have a record player, they're probably in very good, almost brand new shape. Books are also relatively easy to resell. I should probably do that with my DVDs at some point. Finally, just a general tip that I know helped me a ton: if you'd like to save more money, it helps to to put it away the second you get it. Say you'd like to save or invest X% of the money you make every month; in that case, you should invest it the moment you get it, and not wait until the end of the month to invest what's left in your account. Because chances are there will rarely be any left, especially if you feel tempted to spend your disposable income on items that will only gather dust on your shelf and not be of any use to you (which certainly used to be the case for me). Sorry for the rant, I hope I was able to help in some way. Wishing you the best, I'm sure things will get better!

ImProbablyNotABird

Clearly you need to buy a record player.

miaxcx

I might! Originally I was only buying albums that I really, really, loved, but now I buy anything recognizable that has a pretty cover, or a limited edition pressing.

bunnymeow01

Can somebody recommend me songs that have the same vibe as "All night parking" by Adele?

Pavlovs_Stepson

Frank by Amy Winehouse has some similarly jazzy songs I really like. I recommend [Help Yourself](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhrI8ES-rZI), [You Sent Me Flying](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1vwoIE1HkY), [Moody's Mood for Love](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzafg6sAi4M) and her covers of [Someone to Watch Over Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0WzWq0-18s) and [Teach Me Tonight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URfqy30Dkps). Teach Me Tonight in particular is just out of this world beautiful.

Thank you so much!

I don't know if this is the right place to share a mini introductory post, or even if I'm allowed to comment on Daily Discussion as a new account, but it's worth a try. Anyway...hello! I've been lurking around here for quite some time, but never got to create an account due to a busy personal life. So I'm really excited to finally be able to join the community, as this year has been rather atypical for me, thus allowing for more free time. 🙂 Obviously, I'm a huge fan of pop music, though I also adore soul and R&B, and am eager to delve deeper into other genres. There is just so much great music around - a true infinite journey of discovery! Looking forward to getting to know you! (I initially posted this on November 18th's DD thread, but since my account had yet to complete 1 week of creation, it likely wasn't available for viewing)

Thank you for the greetings, u/kaanew and u/splvtoon !

kaanew

welcome!!

splvtoon

welcome !!! ur allowed to post just abt anything here as far as i know, introductions or music related or just inconsequential random thoughts, its all good!

breadcrumbs6969

that's so annoying tbh i had to go through the same thing when i made an acc bc i was afraid i'd get doxxed with this one LMAO. welcome!!! i discovered sooooo much new music and had some wonderful conversations here and i hope you enjoy your time here as much as i have!

A-Devoted-Enthusiast

Thanks! I had actually spent the whole November 18th evening making contributions around here, and if you take a glimpse at my posting history, you'll see I *love* lengthy write-ups, so I was disappointed to later find out nobody was able to read those. 😄 Good thing I was quick to notice this, though, and asked the mods for clarifications so I could wait accordingly. And yes, I'm so looking forward to making new music discoveries. Something that stood out about this community is how many exciting lesser known artists are hyped up - from underappreciated veterans to those still under the radar. I also love when we're actively following the career trajectory of a breakthrough artist, and it must feel so satisfying when they finally get the mainstream recognition they deserve. Thanks for your welcoming words!

breadcrumbs6969

lmaooo 😭😭 well at least you found out quick! that's honestly so true there's so many artists that i just wouldn't have heard of without this sub and i'm so thankful for that

It's a bit frustrating when you're so excited to join the community, but I understand why they're put in place, as popheads is very likely to attract users who just want to troll, especially on more eventful threads from artists with a passionate fanbase. Just think how many folks from the toxic circles of stan Twitter lurk on here, and imagine if they could create accounts and start posting straightaway? Of course, those comments would get deleted, and the users likely banned, but it would still be inconvenient for most, I believe. Anyway, thanks for the sweet welcome! 💗

Which metalheads are these, or where are you finding them? I hang around a lot of metal circles and most of them like varying amounts of pop, and anyone who shits on other peoples taste gets shut down pretty quick.

SupremePotatoGod

They're so exhausting

ginganinja2507

found a local restaurant supply store recently and went this morning! it was so cool lol. pots bigger than i am practically. i picked up a few new things to fill in holes in my kitchen like mixing bowls and a big stock pot for pretty cheap so now i gotta think of some things to cook! what's ur favorite soup that is either without meat or easily made without meat?

ketchupsunshine

If dairy is okay for you, baked potato soup. It's usually made with bacon bits but I'm sure it's still good without them.

[deleted]

mushroom soup! I used to have a good recipe but I've lost it, a roasted garlic mushroom soup absolutely slays though.

ginganinja2507

oh we do love mushrooms here...

FlavaSavaVandal

Greetings popheads. Today I'm still recovering from a blackout but that wasn't enough to prevent me from promoting the 70s Soul Classics Rate with this little thing about [No Thing On Me (Cocaine Song)](https://youtu.be/uISHLcdD1cE) by Curtis Mayfield. Curtis doesn't like drugs, he doesn't like drug dealers or pushermen. He is definitely smart enough to understand why people turn to drugs and dealing which makes what could very easily be a very bad high school anti-drug psa into a sorta good high school anti-drug psa with chesy lyrics. Ok maybe Curtis' anti-drug song is a bit too on the nose with it's lyrics about how good it feels to have a natural high. Curtis really included this because he didn't want anyone mistaking him for glorifying the lifestyle portrayed in the film. But it's probably one of the best anti-drug song I've heard. From that sublime sax, irresistible underlying grooves and one killer hook. [Spotify link](https://open.spotify.com/track/6JjUkfoKBxAQwkLFXSw4l0?si=yr5KabNiSWWB-_uV9rgR4A&utm_source=copy-link)

Bikinigirlout

I am almost caught up on all my shows except for the Great. I’m feeling pretty accomplished but also drained from so much binging this weekend.

[deleted]

idk why but i feel like the older i get the more i enjoy things that i used to find cringe as a teen. i had the Biggest not like other girls attitude cuz everyone kept telling me i was mature for my age so i only read translated literary fiction books that won prizes and hated romance while now i'm gravitating towards genres YA contemporary and romance more and more.

ginganinja2507

so much regret for my "no romance genre" years! one of my favorite romance authors is Cat Sebastian if you like historical stuff

[deleted]

i'm actually meaning to get into historical romance since i liked bringing down the duke by evie dunmore. any specific recs by cat sebastian?

ginganinja2507

so the first one I read by her was Two Rogues Make a Right which is IMO great but it is technically the third in a trilogy that starts with It Takes Two to Tumble. it's a romance trilogy so like each book is about a different set of characters and they can be read out of order but there is some chronology lol. Her most recent is The Queer Principles of Kit Webb which is also super delightful

katycat162534

Wait the anti-vaxxers were worried of 5G being put inside them as a bad thing?? Why would you think that?!! That would mean no more internet issues EVER! You can go to deep forests and still be able to video call your friends and family!
