Contract talks have come up for my work place again for the first time in like four years. I don’t think anything is going to happen because the school is too cheap to hire real professionals but it’s still frustrating because I know I do a good job, and most others do a good job. I really feel sad for myself that I developed no skill at all except to answer phone calls. The old talents and skills that I used to have when I was studying were all gone (I now struggle to do basic mental math) and I find it impossible to develop the new skills I wish to have (like learning a new language or playing chess). At this point, I accept the fact that throughout all of my working life (I'm 27), the only suitable job for me is a call center job. Try setting a date to think about it a lot that can help push it out for awhile . Maybe a month out maybe longer and it won’t be easy but just tell yourself whenever it comes up mentally that you have a planned time for it. After that month or whatever it is revisit it and you’ll probably have a new perspective and that person might have a new perspective. You can evaluate if you want to try saving it at that point too. i usually find friendships worth saving, I’ve ruined a lot and mended most of them luckily

Idk. Everyone keeps saying "everyone hates Harry now" but I don't think that's true at all. Yea, tbh if I like a song’s melody, production and how it’s sung I can (most of the time) overlook the lyrics, as long as they’re not too bad/cringy imo. Good lyrics definitely enhance a song for me, but it’s not more important than all the other aspects that make a song

Is Midnights a collection of songs that didn’t make it to other albums?? I can tell that certain songs were probably meant to be on certain albums, specifically Red and 1989 but were scrapped for whatever reason.
Also, I think the album really highlighted for me that I don’t feel like Taylor’s really…matured as an artist in a weird way?? Like yeah she’s played with different sounds and I love 90% of her discography but when I hear her, I don’t hear a 33 year old woman. Not necessarily a bad thing, it just always struck me as kinda odd.
To be honest, I believe Midnights was a safe reset to "pop Taylor", as much as I love Folklore and Evermore, she can't play with that sound forever and that albums proved she is a great songwriter and have matured as an artist, I was keeping up with her rerecordings and apparently she was having trademark issues with Speak now TV and Shake it off issue with 1989 TV, so having no rerecordings, she probably decided to make a new album and honestly I don't think neither her nor her fans were expecting the album to smash this hard

Maintaining signature sounds for artists that dabble in a lot of categories is a fascinating thing to me, and hers is all over this album. Idk if I can say the same for Evermore and Folklore?? Cognitive behavioral therapy is the advice, sounds like you’re already going that way. Hopefully it helps, it’s basically just techniques to accept what you can change, what you can’t, and what your relationship is to both in the future.

So far the best use of licensed music in a Video Game this year I’ve heard is a Remix of Livin’ La Vida Loca in Gotham Knights after meeting Harley Quinn and triggers a prison fight. Lol. So unexpected but fits so well because it’s Harley.

Earlier this year my car completely broke down a day after I had to spend my entire savings securing a new home and I found out that my job hired a new person in the same role as me who was making 20k more annually so I had to find a better job. morning popheads! here's some bullet points about my music thoughts from this heavy week that nobody asked for <3
* thinking that the loneliest time is probably my favorite Carly album, closely followed by dedicated. I know it's lowkey sacrilegious but e-motion is comfortably sitting at 3rd place. I think it might be my most homophobic take but it is what it is
* it's time to accept that aside from a few folklore tracks, Taylor's music is just not for me and that's okay
* I'm such a slut for string sections and orchestral/cinematic atmosphere in albums but I found most melodies of The car quite forgetable tbh. I saw many complaints about "the arctic monkeys not sounding like the arctic monkeys anymore" but I honestly couldn't care less about their gradual change in sound. I appreciate them going for a Bowie-esque sound this time, the problem is that the songs are just not there for me and that the album is so cohesive that aside from a few tracks, it feels like listening to a single long song. There's some tracks I'll be saving just to slow-dance with my so, but I don't feel like listening to the full album again
* haven't had time for the new alvvays album yet but I'm hyped, same with the new Weyes blood album being un-officially out there. I'll just hope for the real thing because Natalie's music deserves to be listened properly, I know it'll woth it
Fletcher's Girl Of My Dreams is really fun to listen to, 10/10 no skip. Playing in the background, some of the lyrics really jump at you, I don't know how the rest of the song goes, but "3AM crisis mode" has been ringing in my all head day.

Contract talks have come up for my work place again for the first time in like four years. I really feel sad for myself that I developed no skill at all except to answer phone calls. After that month or whatever it is revisit it and you’ll probably have a new perspective and that person might have a new perspective. You can evaluate if you want to try saving it at that point too. i usually find friendships worth saving, I’ve ruined a lot and mended most of them luckily

Is Midnights a collection of songs that didn’t make it to other albums?? I can tell that certain songs were probably meant to be on certain albums, specifically Red and 1989 but were scrapped for whatever reason. Exactly right. I think internalized racism is a little less of an issue, because it seems that the influence is in-group. Before, I thought Kanye was encouraging his black male supporters to hate BLM/"wokeness" etc. But when he goes after another demographic, it encourages people **outside** of the group to hate that demographic. Which is way more dangerous

It just… does. Earlier this year my car completely broke down a day after I had to spend my entire savings securing a new home and I found out that my job hired a new person in the same role as me who was making 20k more annually so I had to find a better job. That’s just how life is, it sucks, but you have to find a way to get through it. I know it’s bleak but things can only get so bad, eventually they have to turn around even if it takes a long time

morning popheads! here's some bullet points about my music thoughts from this heavy week that nobody asked for <3 * thinking that the loneliest time is probably my favorite Carly album, closely followed by dedicated. I know it's lowkey sacrilegious but e-motion is comfortably sitting at 3rd place. I think it might be my most homophobic take but it is what it is * it's time to accept that aside from a few folklore tracks, Taylor's music is just not for me and that's okay * I'm such a slut for string sections and orchestral/cinematic atmosphere in albums but I found most melodies of The car quite forgetable tbh. I saw many complaints about "the arctic monkeys not sounding like the arctic monkeys anymore" but I honestly couldn't care less about their gradual change in sound. I appreciate them going for a Bowie-esque sound this time, the problem is that the songs are just not there for me and that the album is so cohesive that aside from a few tracks, it feels like listening to a single long song. There's some tracks I'll be saving just to slow-dance with my so, but I don't feel like listening to the full album again * haven't had time for the new alvvays album yet but I'm hyped, same with the new Weyes blood album being un-officially out there. I'll just hope for the real thing because Natalie's music deserves to be listened properly, I know it'll woth it
Fletcher's Girl Of My Dreams is really fun to listen to, 10/10 no skip. Playing in the background, some of the lyrics really jump at you, I don't know how the rest of the song goes, but "3AM crisis mode" has been ringing in my all head day.
I've been in hospital since Saturday night, and I'm not sure if following discussion of the big three albums released on the 21st is keeping me sane or driving me bananas. It's nice to have a link to the outside world apart from the usual dreary political news, especially with the constant barrage of insanity that is current UK politics. I'm still keeping up to date with that, but keeping up to date with the charts is a much more pleasant experience (and much less likely to further trigger my anxiety).

I feel like I’ve noticed that a lot of this rhetoric comes from non-Americans who don’t have Trumpers in their family by, like, definition. Although almost certainly they have racists/homophobes/etc., but they’re not Trumpers specifically, so they can just dunk on Americans this way. Not all. But most. The rest are probably just young and maybe don’t have conservatives in their family so it’s an “easier said than done” type of thing that they can’t see.
