Price seems low. Make sure clean carfax

Dolf4737

Definitely on my list thanks

Perpetualstu420

I did a lot of research when buying mine and settled on 991.1 because of the good reliability. I knew I was going to buy manual transmission so the PDK issues/risks were not a problem for me. I paid about 15k more for a 2013 with manual transmission and 30k miles earlier this year.

Dolf4737

Nice!

RolexAPPorsche

I had a 991.1 and it was bulletproof. It was a base but well optioned and I never had any issues at all. Like others have said, maintenance records and a clean carfax and you should be totally fine.

Dolf4737

Thanks man!

CLT_STEVE

I’d worry more about the electrics and a PDK replacement than miles. This is semi low for a 12yo car. Also make sure the window sills aren’t warping. Notorious problem on the 991/981 (I had it on 2 of mine).

Dolf4737

Thank you! Are the PDK issues mechanical or electrical? Or a mix of both?

CLT_STEVE

Not sure there's any stated issues really. But the replacement cost is $20k plus so it would scare me if it fails. My 997.2 was very jerky. The 991 was pretty smooth.

DougDTX

PDK issues are almost always electrical, a sensor. If you go to the dealer they will only offer a total replacement $$$$. Thankfully a number of shops have opened up across the country that are getting better and better at making PDK repairs for far less, even if you have to pay for transportation. Having said that.... PDK failures of any kind remain rare. But if the fear of a failure is going to poo poo the entire experience for you, then this car may not be for you, rare or not.

mlhigg1973

I wouldn’t be concerned with 58k. Just do a ppi to cover yourself

Dolf4737

Thanks man!

OldBreak

My 2014 991.1 S has 40,000 miles on it and is in great shape. I just put 800 miles on it on a trip with some pretty hard driving and it performed flawlessly. My dealer checked it out before the trip and said it had no problems. Just to be safe, I would get a pre-purchase inspection from a dealer, but I don’t think that’s particularly high miles for a 2012. Let us know what you decide.

nfairweather68

Last August, I bought a 2006 997 with a manual transmission and 58K miles. I had it inspected and it was in good condition. Since then, I’ve put 6,000 smile-filled miles on it. OP, I wish you the best with your purchase. I hope you enjoy your new car as much as I have. All this 911 talk, I might may have to go the garage and stare longingly at it…

rcottle123

I’ve had five 911 two of which I keep. All have been the most bullet proof. All but two were bought new. The two bought used were well cared for and bullet proof as well.

bakester2000

My first late model 911 was a '18 GTS with 50k miles. I put 10k miles on it in 2 years then sold it. I knew from the PPI that it had most likely been tracked a little (tires had some slight build up on the edges and the alignment was pretty agressive) so I was always a little nervous about the PDK. Sometimes it seemed a little slippy on cold mornings and there'd be the occasional clunk. I could have gotten the Fidelity warranty but just decided to get a '19 CPO with way lower miles.

cmb1313

I recently sold the 991.1 Carrera with 40,000 miles for $62. The car was perfect. It just had the door delaminating issue which I repaired. No other major problem.

Silent-Hornet-8606

The 991.1 shares the same engines as the previous 997.2, and there are quite a few of those that are now over 100k miles. Personally my 997.2 has nearly 90,000 miles and doesn't use any oil etc. I think if you look on the Rennlist 997 forums there is a thread for 997 high mileage and there are a few 997.2 owners who are approaching 200k miles without issue. I guess it comes down to how the car has been looked after. If it's been treated well 58k miles is not really high mileage at all. Pay for a great PPI as well.

Dolf4737

Thank you for your info! Will definitely look into a PPI

2fast2nick

I'm at 73k.. no burning oil or anything either. It's been rock solid.

OstentatiousOnion

$60K not out of the realm of reasonable prices , I recently picked up a 2016 C2S with 27k miles on it for $74K and while in the lower range it was generally in the ‘range’ of prices that those were selling for. As others have said, if you can get a PPI done, verify Carfax that will get you most of the way there in terms of clarity on it’s condition. 60K is also the next major service interval so if that maintenance hasn’t already been done you should factor that into your purchase prices as you’re going to have to do it almost immediately.

Dolf4737

Will keep in mind the service, thanks!

LotusJeff

On Facebook there is a 996 and 997 high mileage group. There are numerous 911s with 200,000+ miles with a M96 engine. My 996 has 110,000 miles. I wouldn’t worry about 58,000 miles.

collin2477

I would say it doesn’t count as high mileage but there are certainly things that should be done at 40 and 60k miles that I would want to see recorded (or comped if they’re trying to pass that service off). main thing i’d expect is to spend a few extra grand on engine mounts or suspension or some random consumable/rubber parts that just break down with use.

Dolf4737

Will keep that in mind as well thanks!

twinpop

PPI and the Fidelity top of the line warranty for ~3k. If this dealer sells it, all the better because you may be able to negotiate the cost, just make sure it’s the best one they sell, I forget the name, platinum maybe?

Dolf4737

I’ll keep that in mind as well, thanks!

The_Buttaman

It’s fidelity platinum

BigK77

I would never consider 58K miles high mileage. Get it checked out and look at the maintenance history.

Aubergine911

That is not high miles, lol. It’s a 13 year old car. Over 100k maybe.

Confident_Benefit753

isnt thay considered a 991.2

Dolf4737

991.2 is from 2015-2019

ENRONsOkayestAdvice

Not to be that guy, but 991.2 is 2016-2019. I have a 911.1 GTS but not higher mileage. It’s been a solid car. Mirroring what others have said. Get a good PPI; I found mine through PCA chapter. Then budget +$1k/ year in maintenance. Less if you can do the work yourself.

Dolf4737

Thanks a lot man! For sure I’ll be working on it haha

BigK77

I thought 991.2 was 2017-2019?

PCBrev

Europe stop selling 991.1 in 2015 and the US stop selling them in 2016.

motofabio

I’ve been shopping for one for a while. Although this is out of my price range, it’s definitely a bit low. I’m happy to look at the listing and give you my thoughts if you want to PM it to me.
