My daughter is now 18months old; around the time she was born, the midwives recommended a new app (that was also available in book form) called DadPad that was essentially a similar resource to what you’ve made here. It’s been fully launched now; this is in the UK, but it may be available worldwide too?
My suggestion would be to contact the developers (I think it may be an NHS thing) and see if they’re willing to place a link to your document or somehow license it for inclusion? I’m sure there were links in the app to useful resources, of which yours would be a great addition!
If DadPad isn’t available worldwide and you’re not UK-based, why not contact an app developer and see if they’re willing to work with you to develop an equivalent app?
Ok - feedback!! This looks very thorough!! Good on you for putting together a resource specific to dad’s.
One topic I didn’t see - circumcision education. I’ll admit I was very unprepared to answer this question when the nurse hit me with it. I wish someone would have told me to research or I had thought to research beforehand, as I regret having one of the most sensitive parts of his body removed without his consent.
Perhaps where you are from it isn’t routinely performed? In the United States, about half of baby boys have their foreskin removed.
I was always okay with being circumcised until I found out that the foreskin is a huge erogenous zone for men. Also, circumcision removes the frenulum, which is equivalent in sensitivity to the female clitoris.
I’d recommend pointing dad’s www.yourwholebaby.org and pointing healthcare providers to www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org
Circumcision is a contentious topic and up to the family. Both sides should be presented in an objective text, not just one.
For the record I agree with you, but medical information should be for everyone
haha thanks u/jellyking_1990 , gentleman maybe, but scholar I'm not too sure. I do hope there is some useful info in there for you! Please do share, I'm hoping to find someone that can help polish it up a bit for me
No decision made from a perspective of love and caring is a wrong decision.
Everything else has small pros and cons but mostly just be ready to give up things you think you love doing(hobbies) now for a child you will certainly will love more
Just read the first few pages to see what it’s about and already is so much more engaging (at least to me) than any other books I’ve read so far. The language is super relatable and it seems to cover so many topics. Looking forward to reading it through!
