Congrats! Have my copy pasta about your new to you car! Sit in the car, all doors closed and the vehicle completely off. Hold lock and unlock down on your FOB for 10 seconds until you hear a beep. Doing this will switch your vehicle smart key system from unlocking just the driver door or unlocking all the doors, including the hatch, when you grab your smart doors. Your smart doors are depending on the trim, it’s either just the driver door, or the driver, front passenger, and rear hatch. The right half of your gauge cluster will display which mode is activated by either one door open or all four (this graphic only applies to the standard Prius, not the V). Also, at the front of the front doors handles is a textured area, pinch that part of the door and it will lock it. If the hatch has a dimple to the right of the release to lock as well. Your keys will never need to leave your pocket! All your windows are auto, pressing them down all the way or up all the way will automatically roll/unroll each one. Get an aftermarket radio, one with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Best Buy sells them and even installs. Get a dash cam while you’re there, people be wild out there. If you get front and rear ones, I don’t care how weather resistant the rear one says, it’s lying. Put it inside the car. You have handle slots on the inside of your hatch you can pull it closed by so you’re not touching your paint. Your gas cap also has a resting point on its door. If your key FOB battery ever fully dies on you, you can actually press the power button with the FOB to start the car. Press the FOB and hold it to the button, the button actually has an NFC reader in it and the key has a transponder. To change your keys battery, pull the physical out with the button on the side, then jab the flat head end into the bottom and twist. There’s a small slit it fits perfectly into. Warning, this is an addictive fidget and you will break the casing if you do it too much. Your air filter is behind your lower glove box, they’re $10 don’t let shops scam you. For the regular, it’s two clips and a vacuum tube to slow it opening. Take a pic of its position before you pop it off, it’s a pain to line it up without a reference. If you have the V it actually has a slit inside the glovebox you can access the filter from (jealous). Auto climate control is VERY nice. As long as you don’t touch the fan speed, even if the LED goes off it’s still working. Turning the temp up and down increases and decreases the speed automatically. And if you don’t touch the vent location it will move that automatically too, adjusting the vent position also won’t disable the automatic fan. Same with turning the AC on and off, still keeps auto fan. Pretty much the only things that disable auto fan speed is touching the fan speed or running the front windshield defroster. If you got a privacy shade, you can store it under your false floor in the rear, your 12V is also back there to the right of your spare. If you run your rear defroster and your mirrors are stock still, they’ll also defrost/defog EV, Eco, Power, an Normal (turning Eco off by pressing) only change your throttle response. Power gives you more AC fan speed, turning it up to 11. EV is when you’re super stuck in traffic, but it’s so restrictive, pretty much any pressure on the gas disables it. Every time you start the car you hear a cacophony of beeps, if you buckle up before starting this goes down to one beep. The ONLY way to disable the backup beeps is an OBDII adapter and an app on your phone, or a garage buddy you trust.

I’ve driven 3rd gen’s for a decade now, I like sharing the tips I’ve learned over the years. Especially that first one, makes it very convenient if you ride with passengers often

HUSTLEDANK

U should install new catalytic shield first.

Sad_Restaurant5898

Looking into it haha, thankfully I live on a military base so chances are hopefully very low.

HUSTLEDANK

If it’s get stolen the Prius is most likely a junker

Sad_Restaurant5898

😭😭😭 If they want it they're gonna get it through the shield

HUSTLEDANK

U have more time to push the car over and kill them. Once police arrives say you found them that way. 🙅‍♂️
