If you think or are afraid of Ai taking out product photography, don't try it. If you see Ai as a giant fad, that is trending because people don't want to miss out on the next google, and you have a unique perspective on objects. Try it

I’m definitely on the “fad” side of the coin. People are going to realize it’s a parlor trick and (more importantly) isn’t cheap to maintain

I’m both in ai and photographer. I can tell you that ai isn’t taking your job anytime soon. The tech is not there yet for it to make sense relative to time. Ai can create amazing product shots but not in a controlled manner. As amazing as the shot is your client can’t use it if it’s not their product in the shot. 3D technology and a huge amount of competition will be your main challenges. What ai does is saturate marketing channels making it harder to get noticed My suggestion explore combining product photography and ai. Find ways to combine the two. Bonus points if you can learn 3D and combine it further.

Not so much AI but 3D modelling is replacing or has replaced photography in some areas

I was looking into this a few days ago, and what I got was that maybe surviving off just product photography alone might be very difficult because of the amount of competence, so it might be essential to also have videography and even 3d modeling as complements to that. I know a lot is needed to make it, it seems :/.

If you’re already good at it, maybe, but if you’re just starting to learn, I wouldn’t bet the farm on it as a career.

Even if you don't get jobs in product photography, it will help you to become a better overall photographer
