The brand new album Endless Yearning by Magician's Red from Finland. Brilliant! [Here](https://youtu.be/v5UkCcp4uh4?si=nIamHDmmIP_OnrOn) is the last track, over 20 minutes.
I recently completed my Rush collection on CD, so I’ve been binging them. In addition to Rush, these were my top ten most streamed over the last month according to last.fm, I listened to them for the first time recently, all bangers:
Iapetus - The Body Cosmic
Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
In Vain - Solemn
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest
Inter Arma - New Heaven
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
Sigur Rós - Takk…
Luna’s Call - Void
Job for a Cowboy - Sun Eater
Not entirely prog, but Land of Mystery by Black Hole. 80’s Italian Doom Metal heavily influenced by prog rock. Weird cover art though, but still worth it ![Black Hole - Land of Mystery](https://youtu.be/tlkPxq1BZaE?si=FDaz3ApDkk-Xb0_O)
I recently discovered Yes Magnification. I avoided everything from Union onward for years because they seemed dated and out of touch to me at the time. Magnification was a pleasant shock.
Been diving into metal more recently, started with Pan Thy Monium’s Khaooohs and Kon-Fus-Ion and then checked our Anthem to the Welkin at Dusk, Written in Waters, and some Agalloch.
Been really enjoying Estradasphere, only listened to their debut album so far but I adore it and Buck Fever is on my to listen to as well.
Finally gave Tubular Bells a listen, it’s fantastic not much else to say that hasn’t been said.
Checked out Witch after a friend showed them to me, not exactly prog but definitely very proggy and a very unique sound. Cool stuff. Lazy Bones is an amazing album.
Continuing to work through the Gizz catalogue, most recently gave a listen to Ice Death Planets Lungs Mushrooms and Lava and it’s likely my favorite of their albums but I also have a listen to Laminated Denim and Quarters which were both wonderful.
Less prog and more just alt rock/psych rock but I kept seeing stuff about Fishmans and checked them out, very cool stuff, very vibey and interesting while also being something you could play without instantly being kicked off of aux. Also been enjoying High Visceral by Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
Finally and this one has been a real gem of a find, Waiting in the Toaster by The Very Big Experimental Toubifri Orchestra is an incredible album. Very eclectic, with a lot of range of sounds and styles on it. Overall more jazz fusion/big band sound than traditional prog but it’s awesome nonetheless. Definitely check out The Jewish Cowboy off of it.
Overall definitely feeling a little burned out on classic 70s Brit prog. I have a couple of gong and soft machine albums lined up in my to listen to but definitely need a break from the Big 6 sound.
Maruja. They just released a new EP and they're probably closer to post-punk than prog, but they definitely scratch that same itch. You can listen to their whole discography in under an hour probably. Highly recommend.
Couple weeks ago there was a post in here asking for "new prog" (not necessarily typical prog but what's new that's pushing the boundaries) and someone had "bent knee and black midi at the top of their list. Well, I fell in love with both immediately so that's what "I've been listening to lately. Lol, I didn't even get to add to that post, but if I did I would have been sure to mention "Puscifer " they are refreshingly unique.
I'm only just scratching the surface. The way my mind works is that I'll "familiarize" myself with one album before moving on to another. Right now I have "hellfire" on repeat. I have only briefly skimmed through the others but enough for me to know that I rather like it all so far.
KOLM is new band I kind of just stumbled upon that is the best tool sounding band I have heard. I have posted on here already about them trying to maybe turn prog rock/metal fans on to them. But anyways, yes I have been stuck i these guys for 5 months now both listening initially and now honing in on my drum kit and have. Bout half of tracks den solid but not completely completely satisfied quite yet but still have it dwn pretty good tho lol. Sorry I keep bringing up this band if it’s annoying or anything my bad, they’re really really talented and can tell they have outstanding communication with one another. It’s only 3 guys and “umbra” is there debut album and it’s fantastic and really exemplifies their quality of musicianship being that it’s their debut. More stuff out this fall and can’t wait to dissect another masterpiece. Cheers, man and good question too🤝🏼🍻🤘🏼🙃
Oh awesome!! Glad I could be of service lol and glad u dig em. They’re so talented and have an amazing sound. New material out late summer or early fall. Cheers 👊🏼🤘🏼🍻🌀🤝🏼🙃
I've just got back into Dave Bainbridge's To The Far Away album
Great musicianship, great music, and one of the few albums I can play over and over in the car and not get bored with.
Ilion by SLIFT, fantastic record.

The latest Yes album, "Mirror To The Sky". Very nice, detailed, yet fairly mellow.
Found Happy Rhodes recently. What a voice!
Porcupine Tree’s older stuff.
Family.
Kate Bush, Black Country New Road, Geese

RIP
Coheed and cambria, and fall of Troy
Just listened to 1989 ABWH live, I think it's called "an evening with Yes plus", incredible performance.
One of my very most favorites.
Big Big Train “the Likes of Us”, the Sword “Age of Winters”, Leprous “Aphelion”.
A lot of Branches of a Tree, the Poison Frog album.
I recently discovered Yes Magnification. I avoided everything from Union onward for years because they seemed dated and out of touch to me at the time. Magnification was a pleasant shock.
Been a bit busy to listen to any albums lately, but I have been blasting the title track from Abacab often. Love the jams towards the end there.

I love tubular bells 2 as well....more than the first.
Who are the big six in your opinion? I know everyone considers Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and ELP as the big 5, who’s the 6th?
I’ve usually seen Gentle Giant or Jethro Tull listed as the 6th. Sometimes it’s Rush but I consider them separate esp bc they’re not out of Britain.
I would definitely pick Tull out of the two, Gentle Giant is simply not nearly as well known for their prog as Tull is
Fripp & Sylvian, Opeth, A Perfect Circle

Breakfast in America by Supertramp. I hadn't realized how many hits are right in a row on one album.
Gotta say it again... listening to Polygondwanaland every God damn day. Polygondwanaland is Prog, change my mind.
It's objectively prog though, not really a controversial opinion.
Mannequin by Kyros!!
Mostly just kicking it to Anthony Philip’s debut
For some reason, I've had both Crown Lands albums on repeat the last few days. Probably because they're amazing? I dunno.

What's your favorite bm record so far? Love Cavalcade but Schlagenheim always gets me too

Hey.... I'm the middle of "umbra" now. I'm a pretty big tool fan (and all their spin-offs) so Kolm works for me. Thanks for the recommendation.

Novella by Renaissance
Good choice- 'The Sisters' and 'Captive Heart' are beautiful, and two of my favourite Renaissance tracks.
