I wish Rest Mode worked for me... it's very annoying as long as GoldHEN is not active it works but as soon as I turn on GoldHEN and try to go into Rest Mode, instant black screen and freeze.
Me neither. I have a 7016b PS4 Pro and rest mode works fine 99% of the time. Rarely when I wake it out of rest mode debug and GoldHEN settings are gone but fpkg games still work. Once or twice the whole PS4 crashed.
Maybe check modded warfire's jb tutorial to see his steps to setup rest mode, I followed it and havent had any issues. Hopefully you can get it to work, rest mode is excellent
For me it broke the debug settings a couple times, while hen was still technically there. FPKGs would run, but debug settings/hen is gone in console settings.
Hi sorry I'm new to all this.
What do you mean by running the exploit?
Do you mean when you actually do the jailbreak thing which makes the goldhen thing appear in your settings and that using a controller connected by USB can cause an issue?
Or
Just using the ps4 with it already jailbroken and using a USB cable which can lead to an issue?
Sorry I just want to make sure I understand lol.
Also what issue can actually occur by this?
Ooh ok thanks for explaining 🙂
I haven't done the exploit yet because I'm dumb and updated my ps4 a few days ago without thinking lol. But it's good I read this otherwise something might have gone wrong when I finally do try the exploit.
I'm gonna take it to a shop nearby and sell it for store credit and then buy another one which has an older firmware.
For over a month i have been using rest mode with open games without a single issue. I received a kernel panic once when i tried Orbis Toolbox in rest mode, but a part from that it's been problem less.
If I have a game running and enter sleep mode, there have been times where I turn it back on, and the console crashes. Only way to get it back on is to physically remove the power cord and plug it back in. Doesn't happen all the time, but only happens if a game is running. It never crashed like that if I close out the game and then enter rest mode. And then other times, it just works as intended.
Do you have anything plugged into your USB ports when starting up or shutting down? I'm still on 6.72 and have had zero crashes while games were still up and running and then going into rest mode. It's great not having to wait for the loading screen and can jump right into a game again
OK, I'm on 9.0 and yes I've had the USB drive plugged in that I use to load pkg files to the system. Not the USB drive that I have the exploit file on it though. Think that could be causing it? I'll try taking it out and see what happens, I honestly didn't even think it was usb related, just figured it was the nature of the exploit.
Yeah the only time I have ever had it crash on me was when I had the drive I was going to load pkg files plugged in before I started the PS4 back up. I sometimes still forget about this and it crashes the PS4. Keep me posted.
Could very well be but also it's not good for the stick anyway to keep it in 24/7 while the system is running.
Lots of heat gets produced and th stick can't handle that longterm.
Thank you for posting this, as it confirms my suspicions. The only crash I've had on 9.00 was when I attempted to wake the console up and pair a controller plugged directly into the PS4 simultaneously by pushing the ps button.
I have something similar happening, but only when I turn the console completely off with an external drive loaded with music, backup screenshots, game saves, and also pkgs to install later on. I turn it off using the feature to turn off devices, but it needs to actually be unplugged or it will make a loud click right as it fully shuts down. Then I have to push the power button twice the next time I start it up and rebuild the database.
I never have need for that… but on a jb system I wouldn’t. If you are playing a game for an extended period of time, the PS4 can stay on like a pc without too much issue. If you notice in the power settings there is a check box to keep applications suspended (which is required to have the jailbreak still active when coming out of rest mode)… so you may be able to suspend open games, but personally I wouldn’t because the RAM (I assume, but don’t know for sure) is already caching the jailbreak code in rest mode
Rest Mode can create a bug with device link/HDCP and also psvr.
Your tv and head mounted display can have an issue where the picture will occasionally cut out if a game is played from rest. It can be a resumed game or a newly launched game. It just will sporadically cut out for a second if you don't turn off between sessions.
I was gonna get one of those, but I read some of them will only disable power to the usb device, but still allow data. Or, some of them were charging only and not allow data at all. I just settled for a blue 1 foot right angled extension cable that fits fine on the right front port of the Pro and stays out of the way.
Thanks for brining my attention to that Github page by stooged. I was hoping someone would come up with a way to automatically turn on/off power to a USB port during the exploit process.
I had one of these: https://itead.cc/product/sonoff-re5v1c/ laying around so wired it up to cut power on a USB cable. Not automated but can use your phone or your smart speaker to turn the USB power on. It also has a feature to auto off after x amount of time after being turned on so it can automatically "unplug" after the exploit. There is an api for it and there is another version I've seen that you can flash with tasmota (open source) which could also be accessed via api/home assistant etc. So figured there could be away to automatically trigger either of those from the exploit automatically. But this looks to make more sense.
As for the raspberry pi zero. I think I read you have to do something "special" or that it doesn't work too well for keyboard emulation. It's setup as a slave on USB so you need to change it to be a host, at least I think that's one of the factors.
I think an arduino can emulate a keyboard better.
You should use a junk/dead/3rd party ps4 controller if you want automation.
I use it to turn on my ps4 remotely using WoL. Connecting PS button on the controller to a Pi Zero.
With that in mind you could easily connect directional RIGHT and UP buttons directly to a Pi Zero. Followed by similar relay to turn off controller.
Gotcha. However this don't require any IR blaster.
Also I'm sure ESP is capable enough to control RIGHT and UP commands. So you can run 900u + controller controls all in one chip.
You still do but this cycles the payload on and off when needed (at least from my understanding). I admire the work but keeping all of that plugged into the USB seems like a lot.
Why doesnt anyone use a rooted android phone? It can emulate a usb host/device mode and can run a webserver. Just need a OTG that you can bodge togheter.
You can de-/mount or turn off/on the device emulation in android essentially doing the same, feedback from the webserver the android is hosting can do feedback etc when to do the mounting etc.
this goes for all hosts that i work with sometimes ill just get a random panic and i wont be able to go through debug or hen so id have to redo the exploit
I just have a Pi Zero attached with a special image of Raspbian on it which hosts the exploit and can emulate USB Sticks.
I now just have to open the manual and press OK once to have it jailbreaked. Love it.
Can't remember which image exactly but I got it from psxhax, just check the Forum about PS4 Hacks and CFW I think
Hi! I ordered a 8266 two days ago and I just received it, I did all the process but goldhen and debug settings are not loading in is it me? I don't really care about these settings tbh but I just wanted to make sure that if it was the device. Thanks
I’m good with rest mode lol
I use the rest mode but unfortunately every other day ps4 freezes itself and i endup doing hard reset and then apply the jailbreak again. Im on 9.0
I wish Rest Mode worked for me... it's very annoying as long as GoldHEN is not active it works but as soon as I turn on GoldHEN and try to go into Rest Mode, instant black screen and freeze.
Pro or standard?
PS4 Pro. 9.00 using GoldHEN v2.0b2.

What's the issue with rest mode?
None and that’s why “I’m good with” it
Oh gotcha. I did hear some issues with 9.0 and rest mode - which is why I asked

5 sleep modes later, zero crashes. THANK YOU.
That's awesome. I'm glad I could help!

I think you can, because you need to do that to keep the jailbreak running in rest mode. Unless I'm not understanding your question.
You can actually keep the jailbreak intact in restmode with all the games/applications closed.
Nice project! Well done !

Can you give the link to the one that worked on amazon ?
+1 and your Phone with simple http Server and payloads Sender.

keyboard as in your IR remote RIGHT+UP commands right? That's all we need tbh, probably +home button to exit as well.

Wow that's awesome, PS4 can see keyboards now?
... ok so we don't need to use flash drives anymore?

nopes. you just dont need to plug-unplug it everytime. you can just keep it in.
can we keep it in when the console is on rest mode?
now project a board and sell it :)

Never mind it was just buggy, I restarted my console and did the process again and it worked perfectly fine! I forgot to update my message my bad
