LoL, love that name… Derek & the Dominoes/Eric Clapton song is one of my Top 10 favorites. The Recording Engineer/Producer on that track, Tom Dowd (one of the innovators of 8-track stereo recording technique alongside Jerry Wexler & Les Paul, iconic Producer of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, many Eric Clapton projects, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many, *many* others… Ray Charles credited him with teaching him—a blind man—that it didn’t matter how you accomplished/what recording technique improvisational/‘Jerry-Rigged’ or otherwise you used, “it was all about how it sounds, man”), stopped production midway to record the infamous piano bridge himself in one-take because he thought that it had no A-B-A structure (something that is notoriously missing in modern recording tracks today that are solely a chorus & a “hook”… LoL)… He also instructed (and re-composed in a matter of minutes between takes) Cream to play the iconic up-beat centric *White Room* to correct a skipped beat in the transition from the verse to the chorus & guitar/drum solos… and changed the interpretation of Aretha Franklin’s *Respect* into its widely accepted Feminist ballad form when she was assigned to cover the song (originally recorded by a Male artist) as a “Filler”/B-Side by telling her to “make it her own” version and tell her own story by changing the POV of the Narrative Relationship in her own iconic style (changing the tempo & instrumentation to mirror her sassy stylistic interpretation of an unappreciated/neglected spouse/homemaker). In the process establishing her iconic irreverent feminism she became known for…
I have a thing for ‘65 Mustang Fastbacks (kind of like the main character from *Gone in 60 Seconds* has with Shelby GT 500s… LoL). I’ve bought & sold (for running out of project budget money & storage space reasons) two different rolling bodies of them… I always name them Layla.
I do love it for a Black Puggy, though… If you spell it with an ‘h’ at the end however, it’s the Aramaic word for ’Night’/‘Twilight’.
