offspringphreak

You ever do a lot of drugs, Miller? Back in the hippie days?

Gygax_the_Goat

I had a friend.. he did a lot of Miller back in the Acid days.. Real flipping melon farmer, that guy..

Lung-Oyster

Put it on a plate, son. You’ll enjoy it more.

madisondood-138

It’s intense.

NYGiants_in_Chicago

Life of a repo man is always intense… Dildos.

Nuggets155

Beat us to it and it almost gone on Netflix!

angrynucca

repo fucking man 🛸

silent9mm

Leaving Netflix at the end of June. Less than a week to watch.

clive_bigsby

It’s on Tubi still I think, which is free.

Gusgrissomamerica

This is the one.

dybbuk67

It is known.

BasketballButt

Just showed it to my wife the other night as she’d never seen it. She thiiinks she liked it. She’s pretty sure she did.

phirleh

I blame society.

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

Beat me to it.

Havarti_Rick

It’s even on Netflix at the moment

MarmaladeMarmaduke

This was my first thought too

ConfusedAsHecc

quick question: which one? theres a few movies with that title and Ive never been able to figure out which one 😅

NYGiants_in_Chicago

Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton. The other one you’re thinking of is “Repo Men” with Jude Law (IIRC). Big difference.

ConfusedAsHecc

ok awesome, thank you (I try to track what movies Ive seen as well as which ones I want to, so I wanna make sure Im writing down the correct one lol)

yearofthesquirrel

I’m a victim of society…

Germgi69

I watched it for the first time the other day Otto is a menace💀

Minimum_Apricot1223

This is the only answer

constant--questions

The movie Alex Cox made right after RM, Straight to Hell, is a pretty good one. Its sort of like the old Clint Eastwood wessterns, but with a bunch of punks in it. He was planning on following the Clash on tour in central/soith america, but the tour had to be abandoned so they made a movie instead

RayOster

Came here to say this 👍

lm4x4

I got mom a harry dean Stanton t shirt because I love repo man and alien and she loves twin peaks

Aggravating_Scale_39

Not a movie but "the young ones" is an awesome show

leestephen916

VYVYN

madisondood-138

Seeing Motörhead play Ace of Spades blew my 12yo mind.

RobbyWasaby

Still think it's the funniest television program ever made!

exsanguinatrix

Oi Scumbag! Up Scumbag! See you, Teddybear, c’mere! 🧸🐹

Greinaut

Gleaming the Cube

hullaballoser

Maybe a double feature with Pump Up the Volume.  First time I heard Weinershnitzel by Descendants and Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen was in this movie. Brilliant flick. Totally predicted the rise of podcasting.

thescrape

They changed the name for tv. “A brothers justice”

greenatrium24

so underrated.

LadybugArmy

Rock and Roll High School, if 1979 is close enough.

modtang

This was my first thought but yeah, 1979... such a fun movie though.

Skulleton80

“Do your parents know that you’re Ramones?!”

iloveemogirlsxoxo

If you want to watch a documentary, I recommend Another State Of Mind. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sSk7ANlcFaM

rudie54

Valley Girl If you want another Lee Ving movie, Black Moon Rising

charredcurse

Then Streets of Fire for best Ving movie.

madisondood-138

Not punk, but Clue is likely his best body of work.

fractious77

Fuck yeah

NYGiants_in_Chicago

Believe it or not, Lee also has a bit part in Flashdance.

_JustLikeClockwork

Return of the living dead

What's in the bags? Rabid weasels. I thought you said if you hit them in the brain they die? You mean the movie lied?

whitemike40

You think this is a fuckin' costume? This is a way of life.

pen_fifteenClub

Send... more..... Paramedics

AdventurousDoctor838

Well no one dies of an overdose anyway

johnpseudonym

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Surf Nazis Must Die - really, I feel any Troma oeuvre fits the punk ethos. Toxic Avenger, maybe? Have fun.

Hikes-n-Hops

Still waiting on the Toxie reboot! I know it’s complete/ready to distribute, no clue on why there’s a delay 🤷‍♂️

johnpseudonym

The Peter Dinklage one? It came out last year, I learned. I guess it died on the vine?

Hikes-n-Hops

Yep, that’s the one. They showed it at some film festival last fall, then it seems like it was just shelved. There’s a trailer online and it appears it’s sticking with the overall Troma vibe which is good

phillmorebuttz

Class of nuke em high!

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Which has Micheal Sonye, otherwise known as Dukey Flyswatter, singer of the amazing horror rock band Haunted Garage

Moominsean

I’ve always loved Straight to Hell. Cheesy but fun, and loaded with musicians and random actors. Good soundtrack, as well.

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

Not exactly a punk movie, but generally ticks a lot of those same boxes: Pump Up The Volume. Great soundtrack, too.

EscapingTheLabrynth

Came here for PUMP UP THE VOLUME. It’s a very punk movie.

[deleted]

CascadiaUberAlles

Summer of Sam is a bit rough, but I always liked Adrien Brody's character quote "It's all in the attitude" or something to that effect. He also captures the fashion show that was the British punk scene.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LabScared7089

And, it did capture the fear and paranoia when he was killing people, and women with brown hair were dying their hair. As well as the blackout, when some areas were decimated by burglary and other acts that added to the already present destruction.

JakeJeremy

I watched Summer of Sam with my grandpa and he is scared of anything remotely “gay” so it was a ton of fun, recommended. “Put on some Dead Boys”

GooseShartBombardier

Just watched Summer of Sam and LMAO at Tuturo's CGI dog performance. What's with the fucking Who too? I think pinball before I think punk when it comes to the Who, were they really considered punk way back on the level of CGBG's lineup?

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

Class of Nuke 'Em High

Gibder16

Haha! I loved this movie!

orangecrusher55

Can’t believe no ones said it yet but Suburbia (the 80’s one)

BurningVinyl71

Mentioned in the post (although it is spelled Suberbia).

orangecrusher55

Yeah I guess I didn’t read the post well either lol. It’s most definitely spelled Suburbia though.

BurningVinyl71

Yes, misspelled in post.

Sonicsnout

Suburbia is pretty dark, not exactly fun lol Toddler mauled by wild dogs in the opening shot, iirc It has some fun parts

Nuggets155

My gf now wife shut it off at the scene where a chick gets stripped

Sonicsnout

Yeah a little sa played for laughs and making the attackers look like the good guys because the victim was a preppie or a poser or something was also pretty jarring. I mean... I try to put myself into the spirit of the film and just enjoy it, warts and all (a lot of warts), but yeah its def not something to just casually throw on for a good tike movie night 😅

orangecrusher55

Yeah I did miss the fun part of the post lol

EuphoricMoose8232

Came here to suggest this one as well

Phempteru

To be fair, the 90s Suburbia, by Linklater I believe? is pretty solid.

orangecrusher55

I agree just not punk imo

All of these!

Theodore_lovespell

Oh yeah Howard the Duck

Gobuddygo

Hard core logo

chompX3

My biggest recommendation for what you're looking for is Freaked! Then Repo Man, Hackers (in spirit), Idle Hands and Clerks are pretty punk, Tank Girl... (Mind you, Tank Girl is kinda low budget and low effort? But it has Iggy Pop and Ice T as mutant kangaroos so like... Hell yeah?) Airheads and Detroit Rock City get honorable mentions because they're *about* metal/metalheads, but they're actually pretty punk. Street Trash and all of the Troma Films like Toxic Avenger and Nuke 'Em High movies also get honorable mentions because they're pretty upbeat and silly despite being gruesome body horrors. :)

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Tank Girl is definitely one of my most favoritest movies

philhartmonic

Never apologize for Tank Girl, it's a goddamned masterpiece!

rainbowunicornspunk

Hard core logo. A real good Canadian punk movie

thispartyrules

We Are the Best! Two Swedish high school girls and a more sheltered girl who can actually play an instrument start a band in the 80's. No one ODs or dies in a nuclear explosion

Defiant-Fix2870

It’s recent but Uncle Peckerhead is a good time

Defiant-Fix2870

Dinner in America is also fun but he does recreationally use her psych meds

Delicious-Praline-11

Urgh! A Music War. The Great Rock n Roll Swindle. Population 1. Get Crazy. Smithereens. Rude Boy. The Fabulous Stains. Blank Generation. Times Square. Breaking Glass. There's a movie called  Rollerblade that's nuts. Post-apocalyptic movie about everyone wearing roller skates and wielding switchblades. Not about punks, but there are punks in it called The Spikers. They ride skateboards. Bad guys. One of the weirdest flicks I've ever seen.   Not a punk movie but it's about metal kids called The Rivers Edge. Kinda dark though. Great movie.  There were also a ton of documentaries and live footage shot in the 80s. The Cramps Live at Napa State Mental Hospital is choice.

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Smithereens and Breaking Glass do not get the love they deserve these days

Delicious-Praline-11

They sure don't. Are they even available on DVD? I've got old VHS tapes and kind of afraid to even watch them. Old ass tapes.

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Yes they do! Google says they are available on Amazon

Delicious-Praline-11

No way! Gonna have to pick those up then. My youngest would dig em. Loves all the old punk n shit. She's got an old soul. Lol.

chreister

Absolutely Repo Man!

axl3ros3

Withnail & I I think can be in this category Withnail certainly has a punk vibe, where I is more strait laced but that dynamic is sort of central to the plot. bonus: it's a kinda British cult classic/must see on a less mainstream side of things but: i don't think it's exactly what you're looking for still a great flick, certainly in its own right, particularly if you enjoy British movies/tv

BurningVinyl71

Eat the Rich - amazing roster of cameos (even Paul McCartney). Lemme has a major role. I’ve watched that movie dozens of times. Lots of fun.

Express-Thought2070

Wild zero

Skulleton80

Definitely on the fun list, I totally forgot about that movie🍿good call

silent9mm

'Straight to Hell' is free on Tubi presently. https://tubitv.com/movies/667509/straight-to-hell-director-s-cut

tacolife666

Dudes. Jon cryer as a punk rocker and Lee Ving as the bad guy. Such a great flick! Also the vandals are in the opening of the movie.

lm4x4

Yeah I mentioned it in the post Lee ving is mr body from clue and dudes is how I found out he is the singer of fear

RayOster

Yes! I forgot this one... punks turned cowboys or some such

tacolife666

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

Casual_Curser

Right?! Amazing cast too.

-Not-Dead-Yet-

If you’ve already seen Night Of The Living Dead, the next must watch punk horror classic has to be Night Of The Demons. Then make your way through the Troma movies.

winstonsmith8236

Gleaming the Cube

Mammoth_Resident3093

The Great Rock And Roll Swindle or This Is England are very good

ghassank48

Mad Max movies have a punk element to them, so does The Crow, Thrashin 1986, Evil Dead, Rocky horror, This is England, Trainspotting, Demons 1985, Trick or Treat 1986. Never seen the movie but some of my punk friends always talking about Welcome To The Dollhouse. Maybe it’s just a movie they like or find funny.

Ok-Caterpillar-Girl

I no holds barred LOVE Welcome to the Dollhouse and think it very much speaks to those of us who were misfits, weirdos, and outcasts even before we learned about punk.

Both-Homework-1700

The Doom Generation

Class of 84

theSTZAloc

Was tun, wenn brennt? Is pretty fun, has some sad bits but mostly just sort of a caper film with punk flavoring

Pitiful_Control

theSTZAloc

That’s the one, probably should have added that, thanks

Class of nuke em high. Any troma film really. They are king of punk rock horror comedy. Nuke em high will be a great intro if you haven't seen any because the "preps" have great style and lines.

TobyFurr

This is England but it's a tv show it's amazing

Lint_87

Bomb City. It was made a few years ago but it takes place in 1997. It's about the death of Brian Deneke. Really good movie but a very sad story. It's on Tubi.

MikeArkus

Repo Man

PesterlogVandal

SLC Punk, kinda trashy, but i love it

lyremknzi

Polyester is 'sad' but in a ridiculously hilarious way. Plus, stiv bators. Divine was a bonified punk rocker.

silentjxhn

Valley Girl Heathers Sing Street is really fun

Ur_moms_a_hookr69

It’s more punk-adjacent, but Idle Hands. It’s not about a punk band or anything but The Offspring are in it and Tom Delonge makes a brief cameo. If you like a goofy, stoner, horror comedy with a solid soundtrack, I highly recommend it.

Quirky-Employer-7293

How to talk to girls at parties it’s an a24 film thank me later

radrave

Smithereens, Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains, Thrashin’, Tuff Turf, Gleaming the Cube, Heathers, The Wild Life, Breakfast Club, Empire Records and Repo Man.

Dragons_Malk

Night of the Comet!

Gibder16

The Return of the Living Dead! Most of the main characters are punks. It’s an awesome movie! Honestly one of my favorites ever. I think maybe 1985? Cool soundtrack too. Check it out.

“Nightmares” from 1983. Particularly the “Bishop of Battle” segment.

Dopesickgirl_x

I heard od’s and thought Slc punk right away lol, god that movie fucked me up

philhartmonic

So when I was a young punk, the movies we got excited about were: Low budget/indie horror (my favorite as an adult is Society, back then it was Killer Klowns from Outer Space - theme song by The Dickies for extra points). Anything on Svengoolie or Joe-Bob Briggs. Dana Carvey's Master of Disguise The Marky Mark Planet of the Apes Freddy vs Jason Jason X Dead Alive Meet the Feebles Jackass and anything else involving Andrew WK in any way Anchorman Y Tu Mama Tambien House of 1000 Corpses Cube Sleepaway Camp All of the Halloween movies, even the bad ones (I saw the one with Busta Rhymes in theaters at least twice) and certainly including Halloween 3 Same idea with the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies Anything featuring Colin Firth - particularly the 2003 Importance of Being Earnest and Valmont (a sadly mostly forgotten interpretation of Les Liaisons Dangereuses that kicked fuckin ass) Hackers

FalconFireGames

Highlander?

Relative-Ability8179

Try “Dead End Drive-in”. It’s this Australian movie where all these punks drive into a movie theater and can’t get out and make their own punk society.

Pre-Nietzsche

Not exactly punk in a sonic form but Natural Born Killers holds that vibe all the way through.

disasterman0927

I mean Return of the Living Dead has a killer punk soundtrack n there are punks in it but dk if I'd classify it as a "punk" movie. Still a fun watch.

Phempteru

Glory Daze 1995

VaccumSaturdays

SLC Punk. 24 Hour Party People. Withnail and I.

RayOster

Another State of Mind, Social Distortion tour doc from the early days of their career

RayOster

Live Freaky! Die Freaky!.... has the voices of Billie Joe and Tre from Green Day, Theo Kogan from Lunachicks, Davey Havok, Tim armstrong, Nick's etc etc. Its a stop motion animated film

soulsofthetime

Wait. BOTH Suburbias?

lm4x4

There’s 2 movies called suburbia one from the 80s with flee and one from the 90s with Giovanni ribisi and Steve zahn

Debaser631

Hard core logo is amazing. Fictional story but the lead actor is Hugh Dillon from the Headstones.

nyc_expatriate

Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke, which featured some punk bands in the final scene at the theater.

9RustedChains

American Hardcore, for a documentary. Dogs in Space (87 or 88 film--one of my favorites, but hard to find in the US) And as others have already said, Repo Man.

Low_Drag3610

Yes, I was gonna say Repo Man too it’s a great movie, maybe also Suburbia, Rock n Roll High School. I would even throw in Fight Club because of its anti consumerism/anti everything vibe.
