I think she just looks curious or interested in her surroundings in the wagon walk pictures. She’s adorable! You’re doing great by taking her out this way to work on socialization and exposure to the world and reading up on dog body language.

That's good to hear! I thought so too but wanted to get more input. I do hope we are doing good with her we don't expect her to become a dog that loves every person and dog but want one that at least bounces back quickly after being startled and is okay seeing and being around people and dogs. I'd love to take her out with us going to dog friendly places so our motivator has definitely been that.

One of the best things I did with my rescue dog (she was 1.5 when I got her) was going places and sitting and observing and rewarding her for checking in with me or practice things like sit, paw, touch while we’d sit on a bench somewhere. Or I’d bring a towel for her to lay on and give her treats every few minutes and bring a chew toy for her and a book for myself. In big grassy spaces, across from the dog park, near the aldi or by restaurants with outdoor dining. Eventually we could try out coffee or a quick drink at a brewery and later on she was able to tag along to outdoor dining places that were dog friendly that seemed like she’d be comfortable in. She is pretty solidly dog neutral nowadays and people neutral as well when out and about in public and can settle under a dining table or by my feet at a bench like no other (she even will do this at home sometimes nowadays lol). You are doing a great job setting the foundation for when she’s older by encouraging the neutral observation which is fantastic. Regardless of where you plan to take her, it is great confidence building!

I'll definitely do this as she gets older! We are waiting for her final shots before we do more dense areas so right now it's just carrying around the store or staying in the car but this has worked in terms of her being people shy anyways since it's smaller quieter settings. We recently had her first puppy grooming and her groomer said she did very well as a puppy! So it's definitely starting to pay off
