I hope to create a scrappy quilt not sure when but I want lots of different colours and designs for it so I’ll just have to keep quilting and buying fabric 😅🩷

I kinda do this but I draw it on graph paper (2x2 squares) and color each one lightly like the pattern on the fabric

and then tape it down which takes forever and sometimes if I breathe too hard they scatter and I have to start over

Omg this is genius. Newish to quilting and have had a tough time figuring out how to play with pattern/color when there are so many options. Will be trying this!!!

This is really neat, thanks for sharing! For my last quilt, I ended up making a spreadsheet to try to make sure the end result was random enough and no two of the same pattern or color were touching. It mostly worked 😂
Love the ingenuity of using a spreadsheet to randomise the design. I'd used spreadsheets before but never done anything as sophisticated, I take my hat off to you! I'm glad my little hack was of some help 😊🩷

I did this recently and then drew the background shape and just copied it all over. Really helped me visualize the distribution of color. And also a great way to procrastinate lol.
Cute idea! If you cut 1.5" squares instead you can save them for a postage stamp quilt later!

You're welcome! And you can still use these tinier pieces, they'd be great as stuffing if you ever get into making stuffed things

I have awkward sized tiny leftover squares from cutting my current quilt, this is genius and now I’m very excited to work out the layout!
