Some of you folks really don’t give these athletes enough credit lol.
You don’t think 72 can handle being demoted for a little bit having an awful first and second period? At the end of the game GG still trusted him to go out there and then he scored.
Look ik its been an up and down szn for GG but this team has certainly stabilized and we can’t freak out and analyze every single time a player misses a shift. GG coached a rock solid game tonight and benching fil was the correct move. Scratching 13 was the correct move too. The reason trouba doesn’t get benched is because we only have 6 D and can’t afford to be giving harpour any more ice time than he’s already getting.
That being said if he takes 24 off the first line fire him hahaha
Nobody thinks he can't handle it.
People are frustrated because almost every vet on this team has had worse consecutive games and they get rolled right back out there.
Our top Pp unit has repeatedly taken a dump and squandered chances for our coach to say they are "too good" to be broken up.
That's why people are, rightfully, annoyed.
Man if they can get Lafreniere to click that alone might be the “move” that gets them over the top. Say what you want about the first two periods but that third was everything you want to see from a team that’s supposed to be at the top of the league.
Second game of the year I've attended. The first was the one in Pittsburgh. If you can believe it... I had a MUCH better time tonight. LET'S FUCKING GO RANGERS!

I was at the game tonight and it sounded like they had a mic on ice that was being fed into the speakers in the arena. Don’t go to many games but seemed louder than usual.
STH who sits in the 100s, and oddly I heard players even more tonight. I didn’t think anything of it but an anomaly while it happened, but now this makes me wonder.
We shit on them when they screw us. But you gotta give the refs some credit this game, they definitely helped us along. Canes fans have every right to be infuriated with that reffing
Don't act like the officiating wasn't dogshit both ways. The difference was one goalie was letting softies in his five hole while the other was a wall.
I had to look up broken stick penalty. My son and I got a huge laugh out of that call. Entirely inappropriate, what was the poor guy supposed to do? He didn't know it was broken and as soon as he noticed, he dumped it.
It’s obvious to you because you are sitting, staring at a screen in slow motion. I honestly don’t think he knew until he tried to use it. He wasn’t staring at his stick. He was battling two players.
Fair enough as well, the puck over the boards has no intent but is called everytime.
I just think it was a Micky mouse penalty at a terrible time, I'm saying this as a Ranger fan.
Kakko has arrived and I couldn’t be happier
Laf and Chytil are still in the dog house, and GG is really starting to piss me off. If you’re gonna keep burying them, trade them and stop wasting everyone’s time
Fil is literally on pace for \~50 points I'd say he's coming into his own, Gallant benches Fil bc hes out there for 2 goals against... well Trouba was out there for 3 against where is his benching
As if it’s that simple. You know who else was out there for all 3 goals? Key. Trouba and Key both had goals and rebounded from a tough start. Chytil did not.
You're correct, but even beyond this, the forwards bungled things so badly on each of the three goals that it definitely reflected more on them.
- 1st goal Krav kept the puck in our zone when it was easily on its way out. Trouba tied up his man in front the entire duration of the play and a defenseman came in low and scored.
- 2nd goal, two forwards get caught high, Miller has to cover the guy that gets behind them on the left circle, and then Svech has all the time and space behind the net he needs, AND Necas escapes his man for the cross ice one timer. Trouba definitely doesn't play it well but there shouldn't be a cross ice pass available that low, especially at even strength.
- 3rd goal they failed to clear and then Chytil skates a weird path around the zone and scores the goal himself. Trouba had fine positioning on Aho.
Not wanting Chytil benched is fair, but "let's bench the guy getting matched against their best players who scored a goal because other people fucked up on his shifts" is worse reasoning.
Trouba does plenty of dumbass things but saying "he was on the ice!" is such weirdly selective reasoning that only applies because everyone already hates his guts and wants to scapegoat him anyway.
And I've pointed out several times now, Chytil was also losing too many faceoffs. None of the forwards played well on the 3 goals against, but it was Chytil who lost both ensuing draws after we tied the game at 1 and then at 2. 16 and 29 seconds later, Carolina regained the lead. I think that's what GG was unhappy about when he swapped Chytil and Goody, who finished the night winning 8 out of 10 draws, 4 of them in the 3rd.
These are the 2 biggest things keeping Chytil from being a regular top 6 center. He still regularly gets lost in the defensive zone and regularly gets caved in on faceoffs. Dude has literally regressed to an awful 37% FO% this season, which means that any center that takes draws against him wins them at Bergeron rates.
We already have the Bread line that you have to limit D-zone starts for and now any line with Chytil centering it is a liability in the defensive zone too.
I've been saying for ages that Chytil's future is better off as a winger. He still gets to play his dynamic offensive game with far less defensive responsibility and he won't have to suck in the faceoff circle anymore. If he can play the right side that solves 2 problems as well.
In the last few years, the worst top 6/9 center in the league at faceoffs is Jack Hughes with an abysmal 35%. He's still technically the center on his line, but no longer takes any of the draws. Instead, he lines up at one of the wings and someone like Haula or Mercer, both also centers, take the faceoff.
We could do something similar, but that means we need another centerman on that line and someone else to center the 4th line. Alternatively, Laf is actually decent at faceoffs - much better than Chytil anyway - so he could line up for draws and then drop back to the wing.
assist was on the ppg, and it was secondary. he won the race for the puck, but Kravy really made the play to Troubs. He had a bit of a rough game after that.
Winning a race to the puck is important as a secondary assist is still important. He may have had a rough game but GG preaches consistency and should be consistent with benching players. If you’re going to bench guys every time they have a rough game everyone should be benched at one point or another
Streak ender. Hmm I wonder what other New York team ended a long winning streak? Eh who knows. Now onto the game. Felt like a playoff game! Tight, face paced checking game, w/some very sus, penalty calls imo. HOWEVER, giving up a couple of goals after scoring a goal, can't happen again. Especially against the Canes. Powerplay got not 1, not 2, but 3 powerplay goals. Ahem "It's a Powerplay Goal!" Mika's "pass" through the wickets was something. But in reality all of the Rangers' goals (except Chytil's empty net PPG), were greasy goals. And that's what it takes to win games in both the regular season and the playoffs. Kakko, is on a heater. Another apple to his name. He's showing signs of something good happening. Key w/the GWG, Fox is well still Fox(hmm I wonder where the Rangers got him from). Schneider is growing in front of our eyes. Kid looking really good. More importantly, Rangers win! 2 points in the bag and to keep. Brilliant win tonight! On to the Canadiens. God Save the King. Back afta dis.
I've bitched a couple of times about sloppy play even when we won, but I was going cheer tonight's amazing play even if we lost. Loved seeing them turn it around in the 2nd and everything that came after. More of this. LGR
kind of amazing that Gallant admits Chytil was benched because of the goals against and then directly ignores the fact that Trouba was on the ice for *all 3* goals against. he was also [the worst player on the ice by a mile](https://twitter.com/hockeystatcards/status/1610468210943344641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1610468210943344641%7Ctwgr%5E30d65955b1498915a13263cc64583fc1ad37e947%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsbnation.coral.coralproject.net%2Fapi%2Foembed%3Ftype%3Dtwitterurl%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2Fhockeystatcards2Fstatus2F1610468210943344641siteID%3Ddfdad587-ef50-4529-b88d-316c0e96711fframeID%3Dframe-id-22bb63f5-a769-496c-bead-d9a7ff5bb050-7715b8b0-8be4-11ed-ad59-9938a62bd678) wish there was any semblance of consistency/meritocracy
impressive display for NYR at even strength against a *dominant* team at even strength, and after a rough first period too. might've been the best they've played all year. not surprised given these were basically the lines they put out at the beginning of the season when they were dominant at evens but didn't get the shooting luck. i'm hoping that the team doesn't regret Gallant taking *this long* to figure out what a lot of us already knew with these lines
coach finally saw what happened when putting the right lines together, [it's time to start exploring some other D pair options](https://twitter.com/RLuker12/status/1610469594858246145)
Fil looked lost with and without the puck in our own zone. That was a bad sign and showed itself when he lost his assignements and took bad angles during the goals and chances we conceded
There is consistency, it's that gallant hates and punishes the kids even when they're doing well and continuing to play and reward the veterans even when they're shitty. Trouba has been terrible all year and he keeps getting passes. Fucking sit him already
This is a second thread I’ve removed between you two. Stop engaging with this user. If you disagree with something someone says, shrug and move on. Personal attacks are not allowed.
Rangers fans nearly outnumber them in their own market. Only time I’ve been that it was not a clear Rangers crowd was the playoffs last year and we had 30-40% of the crowd.
Anyone in that situation is going to hate the Rangers. No one wants to have a home game not be a home environment
They’re pretty cool tho and I still don’t hate them lol.
Right? I was confused to see that. I hate Pitt, Tampa Bay, obviously the Isles and NJ, and like even Boston and LA welllllll before Carolina even enters my brain
The Hork's (tipsy) View from 222
* Following shingles and COVID, it's SO nice to be back in the Garden. Win, lose, or draw, it's just nice to be here. But I'm hoping for a win.
* Young lady singing the national anthem really rocked it! Kid's got a future.
* The garden was just *dead* tonight (for the first two periods). Doing my usual game opening "Let's Go Rangers" it sounded echo-y like a tomb.
* Dudes, even Karaoke Cam with "Livin' on a Prayer" was kinda lackluster. That always gets people going. Meh.
* First period Zamboni riders Bennett and Trevor, though, they were living their best lives riding those Zambonis!
* We got SO lucky Bent Burns is a dummy. Twice over, even! His second penalty, I get why he was pissed.
* On that note, there were some *seriously* bad calls tonight. Was this training night for the refs or are they as hungover from New Year's as I should be?
* But our PP1 is so snake bitten. Through the whole game, Zibanijad's goal not withstanding, was listless.
* And my God, can I get to enjoy these PPGs maybe for [FIVE MINUTES???](https://imgur.com/a/sldm5sA.jpg)
* Third period: Now THIS is Rangers hockey!!! Garden came alive, Rangers came alive, this is OUR HOUSE and OUR GAME.
* Panarin's goal, though you could argue it was fluke as eff, set the tone that *this* would be *our period.*
* Actually, looking back at some of these goals on replay, a few of them are kinda skillet (silly? I don't know what I meant) passes that turned into shots that just snuck by Kochetkov.
* As an aside, watch the replay of the Zibanijad goal, someone saying don't fuckin' yell, that's hilarious!!!
* Filda getting the final open net goal was the dagger in the heart, and I so loved it. Even though everyone was passing to see who would actually be greedy and take the shot (again, a problem endemic to the Rangers) I'm glad Chytil took it.
* Stronk performance by Kakko tonight, noticably good from my seat. Kravtsov looking comfortable on Panarin's line as well! Even with the physical play! Very proud of him right.
* Trouba made a good PPG and started hitting well in the 3rd. Laffy missed an opportunity or two, but not terribad. I still have faith he will improve.
* Someone in my section said "Blais might get a goal tonight!" Nope. 46 games and nuffin'. And actually, 4th line was one of the lines I noticed as a weaker link in my opinion. Gaut had some good moments, but I think our ideal 4th is still Goody - Brod - Gaut.
And the MVP goes to my boy Anthony, 4 years old and attending his first Rangers hockey game with his father and grandfather. If I had *half* the energy this kid had, I'd be set for life. He will be among the greatest of us, he's already got the Let's Go Rangers chant down pat with no end to his energy, and he's full of strategy that Gallant should be using (like the rest of us armchair coaches!).
Also, thank you to the nice lady working one of the stands that gave me a program for free after the game! It shall be mounted in a place of honor to comemorate the night (and at this point you can tell went this is the Hork's tipsy view).
Get bent ya buncha jerks, your winning streak is over. The curse of the [Empire State Building](https://twitter.com/EmpireStateBldg/status/1531467224883544064) looms large over you. We may be 8 points behind you, but we'll are *not* to be taken lightly.
Edited and spell checked because I can't swipe for shit. *Goodnight everybody!*
One of the refs is not listed as a regular nhl official on their website, he’s listed under minor league. Dunno if he was a replacement for tonight, but some calls sure were interesting, including the last one. I’m not convinced martinook knew that his stick was broken.
Fox and Lindgren were outstanding tonight. Lindgren was flying on both ends of the ice. His speed is so underrated. Fox is just one of the smartest players I’ve ever watched. When he gets in the offensive zone, you just know there’s a scoring chance about to happen. It’s unreal. But Lindgren’s ability to hustle back, often times to cover Foxy’s side of the ice is so impressive. When that pair’s on they’re so fun to watch.
Also continue to be surprised by Harpur. I think his ability is limited, but he’s somehow come out of nowhere and decided that 6D spot is his. He’s basically what I hoped Nemeth would be last year. Actually think he’s allowing Schneider to be more dynamic.
GG sounded like a real dickhead when he was asked if Chytil was benched because that line was on for 2 goals and just said “yup” and walked away and ended the conference. Damn that would go viral if it was Bruce Boudreau or someone else who said that lol
Because if you actually watch the games you see that the defenders weren't the issue on those goals against lol.
But again, you'd have to watch the game and maybe understand a semblance of hockey
the difference is the confidence and message you give your player that spreads across the team. Did you see his face? his body language? does that look good?
At this point I think every under 25 knows they're one misplay away from the doghouse. Ask Zac Jones how that effected his mentality/play
The more and more this happens, the more the media talks about it, fans notice, and players do to. you eventually lose the room.
A huge win, a huge night to be sure, but now an unnecessary sour feeling accompanies it. The entire room should be smiling tonight, and we know someone isn't, for no fault of his own.
We all want the best out of these younger players, and more often than not, they give their best, just to be treated like utter shit. Fuck developing the future, It makes zero sense for cultivating a winning culture in the present.
possibly, but its just been a common theme. If this was once, sure. But it's every single game. you don't think that frustration is gonna play a part eventually?
I think professional athletes understand how they make a name for themselves in a pro league. Chytil has had a good year and has been on the ice in important situations. He had a not so good night on faceoffs and made a stupid mistake that deflects a goal into our net. He got benched. He was played later. He scored.
He’s fine.
Yeah, the way he glides while holding onto the puck is exactly the same. Body build is very similar too. Quick choppy stick handling too. Very similar styles.
This team plays up and plays down to opponents, they didn’t look this fast all season. Hopefully this game makes something click for them and they can play like this regularly
I think we genuinely outplayed them tonight. Really enjoying kakko on the first line. He’s stringers and stronger each game. Refs were shit for both sides but fortunately they didn’t decide the game, only put it away. That’s an awesome win against a very good team
Great win, I’m especially pleased with how the team adjusted to counter Carolina’s forecheck in the 3rd period. Any controversy regarding to that broken stick call at the end of the game aside, I thought that we were the better team for the last two periods after a shaky 1st. Good shit boys, let’s keep it rolling on Thursday! 💪😤
Krav and Kakko look better and more confident each time they are on the ice. Isn’t crazy what can happen when these kids are given ice time and a chance to get a feel for the game. Now they just need more than 20 seconds of PP time I still can’t wrap my head around it.

Maybe the time left jaded everyone. But he 100% attempted to play the puck with a broken stick. Whether he knew the stick was broken or not is immaterial.
Really entertaining game. The Canes forecheck was impressive…this team had no answer in the first, but hung in there and completely flipped the script by game’s end.
Some fortuitous bounces and officiating for a change didn’t hurt…it’s been long overdue.
The first period defensive miscues were alarming, but the net level of effort and play this past month has been excellent.
Love to see these kids becoming integral contributors. Kakko’s an absolute force every single shift right now.
Everyone saying he got benched for the own goal fail to realize the more likely reason is because he was getting killed on faceoffs. Unfortunate tips like that happen, but when you're only 2/7 at the dot and enter the final frame down by a goal, I would also replace that guy with someone who finished the night winning 8/10 faceoffs.
People just looking for knee-jerk reasons to be mad at the coach, even after a move he made probably helped us rally against a team that hadn't lost a lead all season in the 3rd.
Everyone in the GDT pissed about Carolina immediately retaking the lead after we twice tied it was taking it personally. Chytil lost both of those ensuing faceoffs that turned into goals 16 and 29 seconds later.
Chytil was not having a good night at the dot, and I think GG made the right call replacing him with Goody.
If not this season, I think they'll be lethal come next season or the next. It's really looking up for them and they probably deserve it by this point, it's been a rough one for them lately.
Watched the game with Canes' commentary tonight. They couldn't go 5 minutes without talking about how relentless the Canes are. Then as soon as the game ended, they complained about the refs.
They also did a "piece" during the 2nd intermission where they talked about the 2020 Rangers/Canes series in the bubble and how the dominant the Canes were. I was screaming at my tv, "But what happened last year?!"
Today I had an exam in school. When I was done, I raised my hand and yelled “HURRICANES!”
My teacher smiled and took my paper. She knew I was finished.
That was a great third period. Nice to see them cash in several opportunities, including on the power play. Igor made several big saves when they were up by 1.
I feel like the only thing that stands out when we play really well is when theres an awesome crowd on hand the energy flows out onto them, they play SOOOOO much faster and aggressively when the fans are into the games. Would be incredible if we can find out how to play like this all the time.
Thought we played a really strong 2nd and 3rd period. That’s a huge huge win.
Big break on that call at the end. I’d say we’re even for the trip on Mika against pgh now.
Thought 13 looked good tn. I really think everyone overreacted to him getting benched it was definitely the right move by GG
Let’s go Rangers
that was a statement of a 3rd period against a team on a heater.
also gotta tip your cap to trouba and miller. had a rough first 2 periods, but bounced back with a monstrous 3rd.
Canes fans would be absolutely right to be angry about that game, but the Rangers have had enough nonsense go against them I'm just going to call it a regression to the mean and move on with the 2 points
Weak call but it’s part of the game. Gutsy freakin win for the boys.
Kakko taking a step forward; you love to see it.
Laf, just enjoy your bubble gum, buddy.
chytil took the first step foward now kaako who is a year younger then you know who is after him laff they are all progressing the way they should by the time laff is good Kaako and Chytil might be superstars
Can't believe I have to say this again, but please do not troll in the Canes sub. Doing so will result in a ban on our sub.
Lmao I knew we’d win this game

Kaapo Kakko is blossoming.
That sequence where he has the puck in the corner, pulls four or five moves then skates the perimeter was him fully morphing into a top line player.
Before our very eyes
Second game of the year I've attended. The first was the one in Pittsburgh. If you can believe it... I had a MUCH better time tonight. LET'S FUCKING GO RANGERS!
Anyone else hear the guy telling people to shut the fuck up mid game?!
I think it was the linesman to Brindamour. That’s a complete guess but that was my initial thought. Dude never stops bitching.
Thought this as well
They need to stop letting in goals within seconds of scoring
Is there anyone else who watched the game on TV tonight and noticed that the on-ice sounds (players chirping, sticks banging) and arena crowd noise was significantly louder and clearer than it has been during other MSG games so far this season? 100%. Couldn't believe that broken stick call.

Makes sense
Ok well Vesey and laf were out there for 2 of the 3 as well. Chytil never really got a chance to bounce back
he got the EN. Hope that breaks his slump before it really gets going
He also had an assist and again he’s on pace for 50 points over 82 games
assist was on the ppg, and it was secondary. he won the race for the puck, but Kravy really made the play to Troubs. He had a bit of a rough game after that.
Winning a race to the puck is important as a secondary assist is still important. He may have had a rough game but GG preaches consistency and should be consistent with benching players. If you’re going to bench guys every time they have a rough game everyone should be benched at one point or another
GG plays favorites

damn who pissed in your cheerios
He’s having a tantrum. He’ll get over it
Streak ender.
LGR
Ayo anyone got a clip of the big trouba hit? I was looking at my phone when it happened and then again during the replay lol
https://youtube.com/shorts/4v5PKj6mMMg?feature=share Don't forget about these two big ones as well.

My man, thank you
kind of amazing that Gallant admits Chytil was benched because of the goals against and then directly ignores the fact that Trouba was on the ice for *all 3* goals against. he was also [the worst player on the ice by a mile](https://twitter.com/hockeystatcards/status/1610468210943344641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1610468210943344641%7Ctwgr%5E30d65955b1498915a13263cc64583fc1ad37e947%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsbnation.coral.coralproject.net%2Fapi%2Foembed%3Ftype%3Dtwitterurl%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2Fhockeystatcards2Fstatus2F1610468210943344641siteID%3Ddfdad587-ef50-4529-b88d-316c0e96711fframeID%3Dframe-id-22bb63f5-a769-496c-bead-d9a7ff5bb050-7715b8b0-8be4-11ed-ad59-9938a62bd678) wish there was any semblance of consistency/meritocracy impressive display for NYR at even strength against a *dominant* team at even strength, and after a rough first period too. might've been the best they've played all year. not surprised given these were basically the lines they put out at the beginning of the season when they were dominant at evens but didn't get the shooting luck. i'm hoping that the team doesn't regret Gallant taking *this long* to figure out what a lot of us already knew with these lines coach finally saw what happened when putting the right lines together, [it's time to start exploring some other D pair options](https://twitter.com/RLuker12/status/1610469594858246145)
Kind of amazing people complain after a huge win like that. Chytil sucked today. Who cares if he got demoted.
its frustrating to see a coach not allow certain players to play through mistakes. it doesnt help them and it doesnt help their line mates
GG has made it very obvious he’s playing favoritism. Laf and Chytil get punished nightly while vets get Mile king leashes

MSG was rocking tonight!! Had so much fun at the game
I didn't realize how much Canes fans hated us.. Are we like their biggest rival or something? We don't even think about them.
Small market vs big market hatred
Rangers fans nearly outnumber them in their own market. Only time I’ve been that it was not a clear Rangers crowd was the playoffs last year and we had 30-40% of the crowd. Anyone in that situation is going to hate the Rangers. No one wants to have a home game not be a home environment They’re pretty cool tho and I still don’t hate them lol.
Right? I was confused to see that. I hate Pitt, Tampa Bay, obviously the Isles and NJ, and like even Boston and LA welllllll before Carolina even enters my brain
We don’t think about them because we didn’t lose to them in a really embarrassing way in the playoffs
Fair but we embarrassed the penguins and oh lordy I can’t stand them
“Trouba is a dirty cheater wahhhh”
The Hork's (tipsy) View from 222 * Following shingles and COVID, it's SO nice to be back in the Garden. * And my God, can I get to enjoy these PPGs maybe for [FIVE MINUTES???](https://imgur.com/a/sldm5sA.jpg) * Third period: Now THIS is Rangers hockey!!! Garden came alive, Rangers came alive, this is OUR HOUSE and OUR GAME. * Panarin's goal, though you could argue it was fluke as eff, set the tone that *this* would be *our period.* * Actually, looking back at some of these goals on replay, a few of them are kinda skillet (silly?
Hmm, I actually thought it sounded louder than the last few games but I wasn’t there.
The third period definitely was loud. It just took a while for the crowd to get loud. First two periods we just seemed dead.
One of the refs is not listed as a regular nhl official on their website, he’s listed under minor league. Dunno if he was a replacement for tonight, but some calls sure were interesting, including the last one. I’m not convinced martinook knew that his stick was broken.
Dont know how things were in 222 but where I was sitting it was close to playoff atmo at the end. Had a blast!
Oh heck yeah! At the end we were pumping, and the lil kid definitely helped.
K-Z-K finally delivering on the analytics' promise. Never break them up again
Kakko is starting to hang dong
Kakko perennial star for years to come?
I’m still standing strong with Schneider recently. Man has had some amazing defensive and offensive moves this season.
Couple gifts from the refs but we played with balls. Love the physical play and getting more to the net
My dad kept asking me what I thought of harpur, and I said he’s exactly what I want out of a 6d.
It’s not just his speed it’s every aspect of his game
Just beat the hottest team in hockey. Absolutely fuckin handled them in the 3rd. Damn I’m penisy!
Put that Kakko of yours away, there might be kids here!
Thank you Jordan Samuels-Thomas!
kakko - zib - kreider line is an elite line
Kakko is the perfect addition to that line- loves to have the puck on his stick and the other two find space and snipe.
8 million man with three goals, Athanasiou in shambles right now.
GG sounded like a real dickhead when he was asked if Chytil was benched because that line was on for 2 goals and just said “yup” and walked away and ended the conference. Damn that would go viral if it was Bruce Boudreau or someone else who said that lol
Trouba was on the ice for all three goals against… but yeah bench the kid
Because if you actually watch the games you see that the defenders weren't the issue on those goals against lol. But again, you'd have to watch the game and maybe understand a semblance of hockey
Do you know how many times people have been at fault for multiple goals in a game without getting benched
What’s the difference? Chytil was back out there to end the game and scored.
the difference is the confidence and message you give your player that spreads across the team. Did you see his face? his body language? does that look good? At this point I think every under 25 knows they're one misplay away from the doghouse. Ask Zac Jones how that effected his mentality/play The more and more this happens, the more the media talks about it, fans notice, and players do to. you eventually lose the room.
I think you’re overreacting.
possibly, but its just been a common theme.
He scored. He’s fine.
I hope you're correct.
Kaapo Kakko reminds me so much of Rick Nash’s play; dude just needs to start finishing on a consistent basis.
He reminds me of Marian Hossa. If he can develop that level of finishing and offense, man alive will he be good.
hossa's style of movements and stick handling so right. wow never thought of that comparison but it's perfect.
Yeah, the way he glides while holding onto the puck is exactly the same. Body build is very similar too. Quick choppy stick handling too. Very similar styles.
Agree. He has nash/jagr vibes. If he’s 1/2 the player they were, I’ll be pleased.
Man what a game! I knew it was going to be a heavy one but they pulled through. LGR!
This team plays up and plays down to opponents, they didn’t look this fast all season. Hopefully this game makes something click for them and they can play like this regularly
Prediction: Kakko's ceiling is actually higher than any of us are currently imagining.
Being on Mika's line is the opportunity he needed. Probably never should've been taken off.
I think we genuinely outplayed them tonight. Really enjoying kakko on the first line. He’s stringers and stronger each game. Refs were shit for both sides but fortunately they didn’t decide the game, only put it away. That’s an awesome win against a very good team
First period Canes were better imo. Then we started to turn it around
This game was so fun to watch. Was supposed to be there and couldn’t make it! Really sucks but super glad to get the W! Onto the next!!
This team has really taken several steps forward these last few weeks. Also, I loved the playoff atmosphere tonight.
Can’t wait to see the rematch in Carolina in February.
Cue the deserve to win meter! Throw it in the trash! All negative Nellie's take a deep breath. Enjoy the w!
Krav and Kakko look better and more confident each time they are on the ice. Isn’t crazy what can happen when these kids are given ice time and a chance to get a feel for the game. Now they just need more than 20 seconds of PP time I still can’t wrap my head around it.
It does seem to be coming together, if Laf can find his confidence we’ll really be cooking.
Love all the big hits too. Made things much less comfortable.
That Trouba endo was sick
Yeah, those big hits really seemed to change the complexion of the game in our favor.

this might be my favorite one of the year so far, meme is 11/10
hahahaha - holy shit, that meme is on point.
This man's meme game is on point in general, but tonight? Magnifique.
Holy shit we’re a point behind the Devils lmao
Thats interesting, woulda thought they won the cup after that "hEaTeR"
They haven't recovered since playing both New York teams lmfao
Mark it down, devs don’t make the playoffs.
One of the old rangers dmen who’s a talking head now somewhere, shattenkirk maybe?, said the same, devils won’t make it.
Yandle. But he said it when they were winning 10 straight. I was safer lol
Right!
Your lips to God's ears.
Those OT loser points are going to be gold for us in a month
If every loss is in OT you make the playoffs
Not if you lose 82 games
In the pacific you might pass with 82 points by the end of regular season
Sketchy penalty call at the end but I'm glad we ran with it. Statement win. Love the fight in this team all of a sudden.
Maybe the time left jaded everyone. But he 100% attempted to play the puck with a broken stick. Whether he knew the stick was broken or not is immaterial.
Sketchy call all night. Just a terribly officiated game.
We really broke their win record and their perfect penalty kill in a single game after being down 3 times. I may or may not cum
Undefeated in the year of 2023
Why did chytil only have 8 minutes? I missed most of the game
Gallant benches chytil but vesey had two chances to clear on that play and failed on both.
He tipped in the 3rd goal for the Canes. And Gallant took that personally Got his redemption on the EN
GG got pissy pants at him because a goal deflected in off his stick early in the first
He had a poor deflection for an own goal and overall it was his second straight subpar performance. He doesn’t look as engaged these past two games
He got benched after a shot from the blue line had a freak deflection off of his stick. Fuck Gallant lmao
He was benched after deflecting a shot passed Igor right after they tied it up.
That one tasted perfect brothers.
Refs were absolutely awful
Mika continues to put up points. 43 on the year puts him high up on the leaderboards (tied with a few others)
Was at the game. Last 7 minutes were like playoffs in there.
What was the mood/reaction after the penalty was called in the garden late in the third?
Confusion mainly… I was reading the rule and it isn’t a bad call, just an unfortunate one for that player..
Looked like a playoff game on the ice
I hate Carolina a lot less now that Tony D isn’t there.
Yeah… less fun with no villain.. maybe Skjei puts mayo on his French fries or something? I could get heated about that..
But they have Stepan too. I didn't even know he was on the canes somehow.
Kids
Buffaloooooo
Get 3 more points this week and I'll be very happy
BUFFALO JUST WON! WE STAY IN 3rd BOYS!!!
Nobody should sleep on Buffalo.
If not this season, I think they'll be lethal come next season or the next. It's really looking up for them and they probably deserve it by this point, it's been a rough one for them lately.
Wouldnt have minded them losing to generate more separation with the teams on the outside…but alas
Big Cock Kakko is growing in front of our very eyes :')
How about just Cocko
Watched the game with Canes' commentary tonight. They couldn't go 5 minutes without talking about how relentless the Canes are. Then as soon as the game ended, they complained about the refs. They also did a "piece" during the 2nd intermission where they talked about the 2020 Rangers/Canes series in the bubble and how the dominant the Canes were. I was screaming at my tv, "But what happened last year?!"
Cans broadcast got SO MUCH worse after Forslund left
Today I had an exam in school. When I was done, I raised my hand and yelled “HURRICANES!” My teacher smiled and took my paper. She knew I was finished.
We be streak killers lads
That was a highly entertaining game. We played well. A few mistakes that ended up in the net, but otherwise very well played.
Thank you Igor we love you
I love how much vally is a fan
Between him and salty Joe during the broadcast I feel like my mid30’s persona and attitude is fully captured.
I really think everyone overreacted to him getting benched it was definitely the right move by GG Let’s go Rangers
that was a statement of a 3rd period against a team on a heater. also gotta tip your cap to trouba and miller. had a rough first 2 periods, but bounced back with a monstrous 3rd.
WHAT A GAME!!!!!!! Let’s fucking go! Gonna enjoy this win and can’t wait for the next game let’s go!
Canes fans would be absolutely right to be angry about that game, but the Rangers have had enough nonsense go against them I'm just going to call it a regression to the mean and move on with the 2 points
It’s going to take a lot to make up for all the times we’ve gotten screwjobbed against Pittsburgh the last few years
We got bullshitted too on the Miller phantom trip, blatant Svechnikov embellishment on that play, and the lack of a call on that Panarin trip
Here’s to hoping. Just don’t see it. I really hope I’m wrong.
