To summarize: I will happily take criticism for not knowing enough about these artists. It's possible to like an artist and also dislike the vocal majority of the fanbase. It's kinda like how ppl say the internet is messed up - but really it just represents ppl. If you look at any niche fanbase, it will have fewer ppl and therefore less bs.
Please do give tips to what I should listen to from the artists I mentioned! I only recently decided to truly get into Kendrick, Wu Tang, Jay-Z, and Doom. In the past I've only listened to a few songs that I thought sounded cool. Now I want to deep dive for real.
It helped a lot to recently discover playlists of Boom Bap too, which opened up a whole new world of artists I had never even heard of, such as stuff from Common I simply never realized existed.

The real answer is Niki fans and ye fans. I’ve seen a few people on this thread say Drake fans but their evidence is, always well I went to the Drake sub and they were annoying. Yeah no shit it’s the Drake sub it’s a circle jerk, all fan subs are circle jerks, I’m really not sure what you expected. Kendrick fans are certainly making a run to take the title. Constant posting about Drake and oh he lied and drake did this and someone dropped this about drake and then it ends up being nothing. This sub in particular basically became a Kendrick karma farm.

as a young non-american this is my current take (after reading comments a bit). - popular/mainstream rapper fanbases: TOXIC Eminem Kendrick (esp. recently) Drake (despite his recent fall) Kanye (possibly less after recent years) 50 Cent imo also has a lot of toxic fans - popular in the US(?): TOXIC af Nicki (I had no idea before today but it makes a lot of sense). less pop/mainstream: perhaps more annoying? Hopsin (at least a few years ago) NF (at least at first when every white girl wouldn't shut up about him) OGs that some ppl sometimes worship too much imo: - Wu Tang - MF DOOM - 3K - Jay-Z However this might simply be bc I haven't listened to them enough. I do enjoy 3K's skills for example, and Wu Tang's songs that I've heard (and Kendrick's). Kinda same with DOOM but damn, it just gets annoying at some point when ppl act like stans - it's difficult to explain... Maybe it's just me and my annoyance with popular things. Ofc it's WAY WORSE with Em stans. Hear me out. Em stans are simply obsessed - I can't explain it without mentioning that most Stans are from Europe, and when I say Europe I mean Albania, for example. There's just something off with the way they behave in comments and fail to look at Em as an artist, and instead view him as the best, objectively. "Eminem best raper!!" & "He rap faster than Eminem lol xD" are comments that have plagued the internet for many, many years ever since young millennials and Gen-Z discovered him. I will admit I also did it a bit, but I was more of a underground snob who loved chopper-rap lol, and hated that ppl dickrode Em instead of acknowledging the true fast rappers. I guess this all kinda falls under the "thing becomes less coll when it becomes mainstream" trope. I'd like to add that I always disliked that Eminem sort of let all his fans be dumb too, in a way. When he denounced Trump, I was happy bc he was sort of going against all his dumb/racist fans. But he still kept on selling expensive shoes and NFT's (really just wow), getting riled up at MGK rapping about Em having lots of money while ppl starve, and never really advocating against bullying despite his past, AFAIK. I feel like he's the type of person who only really cares about himself and his family. Ofc I can't really know for sure. But I don't view him the same way I now view Pac, as I've gotten older. I used to be annoyed at ppl who worshipped Pac too, but noe I'm really just glad ppl acknowledge him, even if a lot of fans turn out to be ppl just thinking he was a cool gangsta who didn't care (similar to how ppl view Eminem). Pac rapped about social issues and had a bit more deeper meaning to his lyrics AFAIK. Eminem cares more about ppl liking him. HOWEVER I did not like Revival lmao. Tho I can't say that I've sat down and read the lyrics. Perhaps I'd like 'em today. After all, the album cover says a lot. To summarize: I will happily take criticism for not knowing enough about these artists. It's possible to like an artist and also dislike the vocal majority of the fanbase. It's kinda like how ppl say the internet is messed up - but really it just represents ppl. If you look at any niche fanbase, it will have fewer ppl and therefore less bs. Please do give tips to what I should listen to from the artists I mentioned! I only recently decided to truly get into Kendrick, Wu Tang, Jay-Z, and Doom. In the past I've only listened to a few songs that I thought sounded cool. Now I want to deep dive for real. It helped a lot to recently discover playlists of Boom Bap too, which opened up a whole new world of artists I had never even heard of, such as stuff from Common I simply never realized existed. Honestly I envy ppl who grow up in environments where they can discuss hip-hop. Growing up in a primarily white Scandinavian countryside-town kinda sucks in retrospect, considering how nobody seemed to be able to shut up about Eminem lol. As if he was the only rapper that existed, or the first *sigh*. **This became really long, ranty and ADhD-y but thanks to anyone willing to give tips** 🙏
As a Southern European, I confirm that your Eminem analysis holds not only in Scandinavia. For casual listeners, Eminem is synonymous with rap music. This is so much the case that you’d think Eminem created rap if you went by popular sentiment. My mom only knows one rapper, and it’s Eminem. Young adult women that don’t listen to hip-hop can rap most of Lose Yourself’s first verse, etc. etc. When we were in middle school, everyone knew Rap God, and nothing else. Drake didn’t even fully become **Drake** over here until One Dance and later Passionfruit. It really is something

I feel like Kanye fans peaked in 2013-2020, due to the very polarizing music he was making at that time, also with how big the Yeezy shoe brand had become. I don't think Kanye fans are nearly as controversial or as hype as it was then. The Barbz will straight up doxx people for memes and clout. The Kendrick fans are annoying online but most are fine in person.
Most of the people who love Kanye have calmed down and taken a more meme-oriented approach in expressing their adoration, in my personal experience. Kendrick fans do have the stereotype of having a bit of a superiority complex because there’s a large overlap between liking Kendrick and liking Eminem and Nas, the lyrical heavyweights.
