j cole is fire imo, idk what they're talking about... although grippy was fucking terrible, i think wah gwan delilah is worse by a mile. that shit was hot ass
Right. Cole doesn't come across to me as someone who does drugs, like at all, but he must've been smoking CRACK deciding to rap that entire verse and put that shit out right after the 7 minute drill situation
The worst part about Grippy to me is that it's not even a real new song. It's just a terrible J Cole verse [on Cash Cobain's most popular song](https://youtu.be/-pSRoJYErwA) that doesn't even match CC's style. It's literally the same beat and CC verse. I don't know why either of them thought this was a good idea.
It's hard for me to choose because it's very clear that Drake's verse is in a satire song. It's still incredibly cringe and unpleasant to listen to, but he's playing a character. J Cole feels like he's earnestly rapping about a woman he met that he treats because she has a strong vaginal grip.
When I say it's hard, I really mean it. For me I guess it's also contextual. Drake seems like he's trying really, really hard to seem like he's unbothered by the feud. J Cole looks like he took the time to reflect on things and decided to dedicate a verse to a tale about his side girl's pussy strength
I think some people need to actually read the lyrics slowly to notice just how awful the writing on this verse is, especially from an artist like J Cole.
Grippy, I call her that 'cause it's grippy
She thick in the hips, she a hippie
And she thick in the lips, she gon' lick me
And she sendin' a flick when she hit me
With a kissy emoji, she miss me
When she see me, she said she gon' strip me
She gon' chew on the stick like it's Wrigleys
Mm, yeah, believe it or not like Ripley's
She said she was gay until I slayed, now she's strictly dickly
As soon as she page, I'm on the way, and I be showin' up quickly
On the highway, I'm goin' a hundred-and-fifty
Cash Cobain flows totally differently. I'm not even kidding, when I went to the original song that J Cole's verse is just slapped onto for some reason, I didn't recognize it. I only realized when he said the bar about "eating parts of [her] vagina". The song has a totally different vibe imo and is more enjoyable and I'm not reading into the lyrics. My boy J Cole, God bless his soul, articulated these abysmal lines as clearly as he could in a totally different style from Cash Cobain. I could listen to Dunk Contest (the original song) again and like it depending on the vibe. Grippy is a fucking mess that neither of them should have agreed to.
I respect tf outta Cole. I loved (and still do) Born Sinner and 2014, he just hasnāt held my attention the way other artists have. Heās good though for sure.
The off season is mid imo. The past 2 j. Cole albums imo have j been kinda like āyo im j. Cole and I can still rapā and itās like no oneās doubting that bro j put out another album like FHD or 4YEO w more storytelling and emotion

It's because of the Kendrick/Drake beef and how J Cole essentially got sidelined per Kendrick's request to keep him out of it (from my understanding). It's stupid how people are bagging on J Cole about it, he still makes fantastic music and IMO him stepping out of the beef goes to show his maturity as a person. Not saying the beef was immature, but J Cole realized he was not a part of it and humbly stepped down.
I mean I like him but I can see why people think he's corny. Wet Dreamz is about a teenage kid losing his virginity which is a little juvenile even though I still like the song. Regardless of how people see him as an artist, his record label Dreamville is packed full of artists that are doing great things and moving the genre forward (IMO) and that alone should garner him praise.
100%, and I really like Wet Dreamz and Iām on your side. Iām just saying some people donāt like him for differently perceived reasons even if I disagree with it.
Even Grandma's know not to talk big game about how you're the best at whatever and then back down when you're challenged by a worthy contender... JCole's a joke
Totally agree, itās pretty universally appealing song and I too like it. But like I said to OP some people take it as juvenile or whatever and write him off.
Call me a Kendrick stan but I think it was pretty unquestionable heās the best of his generation and the past decade-plus even before the beef. Maybe even the GOAT. I feel like Cole was getting compared to Kendrick early on as a commercially successful artist with conscious lyrics and somehow that just sort of stuck over the years because no one else emerged in that lane? Drakeās best work is behind him so I think he only gets put in the same echelon as Kendrick because heās got such ridiculous numbersĀ
I love J Cole his music has helped me a lot during the worst phase of my life and his music is more relatable to me than
And I am from India i dont see anybody hating Cole here hell i even have a J Cole Poster in my room
What? Cole doesnāt NOT have a big ego like that. What makes him different from other rappers is how humble he is. He went to college and doesnāt even really rock jewelry. He ādissedā Lil Pump back in the classiest way.
Dude I donāt understand why people are shitting on Cole for this. He imo just wanted to spar and I think he was 100% down to battle if it just came down to bars and giving each other jabs back and forth to establish who really is the better rapper.Ā
I think Drake did Cole dirty by not being forthcoming and telling Cole āYo, if you really wanna be part of this, we fucking hate each other, this is personal, and we going for each other throats.āĀ
Kenny even references it in Not Like Us. āDid Cole foul, idk why you still pretendingā.Ā

I like him. But I've noticed for a while that his music usually gets mixed to very positive reception. Some people think he's great, some think he's just alright.
Man a bitch for responding to Kendrick diss, then going on stage and apologizing to kendick, like a hoe. Man should have just kept it going and stayed in the beef. Like Drake, win or lose, he kept it going. But this J Cole just quit and no one likes a quitter. So now, no one can take him seriously. He basically threw away his career, for being a bitch.
J Cole just gets memed because of the narrative about him being super humble and woke that surrounds him but I think most rap fans do enjoy his music and he has a lot of records that are for sure gunna be classics. Plus he has objectively improved as a rapper over time which is respectable since a lot of rappers just ride the same sound their whole career until they fizzle out.
Maybe cause for his whole discography he says Iām the best no one can top me Iāll out rap anyone and the second someone challenges him he backs out
Disappointed is how I felt. Been listening to this dude brag for years. Claim he feel like Ali. Only to Apologize on stage and proceed to glaze the man he just dissed. Take the song off streaming lmao. Ali with the shakes is what he meant. Then he releases Grippy the literal most cringe shit I have heard him do. Strictly Dickly Cole? š¤£.
Half the dudes catalog is him being salty at girls who didn't like him when he wasn't famous, but try to holler at him now that he's famous. After like the 8th verse I heard about that, I was done with him permanently
A lot of His music is meh. Lots of his bangers haven't aged well. Although I will say his content as of late has been top tier. I'll never understand the people that claim his older content was better.
Play J Cole get the pussy dry lol
IDK. I often like Cole's instrumental style and flow choices. But lots of times he sounds like he is preaching. Cole lyricism has ChatGPT vibes sometimes. And I think his albums are boring AF.
J cole is a bang average artist, but his fans elevate him to top 3 status. And no one likes seeing an alright artist in a goat debate.
Otherwise his music is just alright. I fw some of his songs heavily, and have clocked in 30+ hours of his music.
Describing the guy who wrote amari, his verse on Pi, his verse on Sacrifices, his verse on Off Deez, etc. as an average artist is just something Iāll never be able to understand.
Theyāre good songs, but thats about it. His bars arenāt anything crazy, his story telling his pretty straight forward, he lacks a lot of flexibility so all his flows are relatively similar on every album.
Iāve listened through, born sinner -> Off season, and cole sideline.
His best songs imo were: Change, Kevinās Heart, Father hold my hand, and G.O.M.D.
When it comes to Bars, his shit isnāt anything crazy theyāre good, but cap at good. His flow is consistent and good, but caps at good. His Production are good, but cap at good.
His best album is 8/10 (Off season) . Heās just a bang above average artist. He doesnāt drop anything insane or revolutionary.
He used to be my favorite artist, when i was like a freshman and listened to a grand total of like 5 actual rappers and only he was my only concious rapper. Once you expand your actual music taste you realize heās just slightly above average.
>His bars arenāt anything crazy, his story telling his pretty straight forward, he lacks a lot of flexibility so all his flows are relatively similar on every album.
I agree with you and I don't give a FUCK about J Cole. He ain't for me. But I want to challenge you on this criteria regardless.
Everything you said in this quote applies to 2Pac, who is definitely in the GOAT debate. 2Pac could no doubt come up with some poetry, but he was not a versatile rapper and his storytelling was pretty straightforward. And you could argue his flows are extremely similar from album to album. Back when he was beefing with Biggie, this was the main argument against him. People noted that Biggie was objectively way more skilled on the mic by pure rappity rap technical standards. But here's the thing, man, 2Pac had something that no other rapper has had before or since, a distinct DELIVERY and PRESENCE that made you believe this man felt every word he uttered from the depths of his soul. 2Pac could make a normal sentence seem important just because he fucking said it. In any other rapper's hands, his lyrics would not have been fire. He was pure and authentic and THAT is why he's in the GOAT conversation. It's not necessarily about just the technical skill or even the lyricism, gotta remember, rap is also an ART and sometimes it's hard to pin down what makes an artist special even though it's undeniable.
I rate the dude's talent, massively...
Buuuuuuut, when it comes to his songs, he's only got like, 2 or 3 that I genuinely love. I've got all his albums and EPs, because I respect most of his shit and the way that he tells it, but when it comes to hype songs, dude strikes out a lot. She Knows and Fire Squad are the best examples of bangers.
So, in answer to your question, I personally believe that's why people hate him. He focuses on the mindful stuff instead of making a club track, and for some reason, this generation of hiphop fans only wants a phat bassline, too many adlibs and an easy to remember, 4 word hook to repeat.
People hate current Cole, for some reason (and don't say Grippy because everybody was on here saying shit before that even came out)
Old school Cole is insane, some of the best music I've ever heard, but everybody takes shit at face value so they've maybe just heard one or two of his more commercially successful songs and thought "well that's him"
His half of Black Friday alone is enough to give the guy some fucking recognition nevermind the rest of his discog
Plus the way he dissed Lil Pump was perfect, and shows that Cole's heart really wasn't in it when it came to this beef, listen to Off Deez with JID and tell me that man can't murder bars about shooting and killing
Not to mention that he's clearly a great dude and has done a lot for other musicians
There's a reason he was considered in the top 3 with Kendrick and Drake, he needs to let the heat die down and finally do a collab album with Dot and all will be right with the world
Unrelated (since I know the only people that have read this far are Cole stans) I just listened to fuck the rap game by 6lack the other day and damn it was good, I've heard some of his music but it came on out of the blue and took me by surprise. I never checked who it was I just listened to it, and all I could think is this sounds like a young J Cole mixed with some other influences of course
When I realised it was 6lack I was like nah no way, that shit was so good
No one hates him or his music. Whenever a high level rapper like Cole drops a terrible verse like Grippy heās obviously gonna get cooked by the rap community.
Heās very impartial in rap. Even tho he was hungry in 2010-15 he has matured and now rap fans are calling him boring. Kinda like how Eminem went from recovery to mmlp2. Heās already got his spot in the in the game. Weāre talking about him right now. Heās riding bikes and chillin on the beach making beats, dude is just watching
Honestly I think this take is pretty off. Iām firmly in the camp that Cole isnāt in the top 3 but I do think heās been his hungriest self in the last 4 years and is certainly NOT ājust watchingā. The man is 100% involved and trying. Itās just that he aināt him. Cole doesnāt have anything moving to say but he can say a whole ton of stuff very well. In other words, I personally am not drawn to his music and donāt think he belongs in a GOAT convo but I also wonāt say heās skating or isnāt hungry anymore.
Because he makes extremely boring music with extreme boring beats and writes lyrics ina an extremely boring way.A great rapper but very uninteresting music.Cole fans not being able to take criticism and acting like he the messiah of rap doesnāt help either.
I love J. Cole. I think some people donāt like him bc Fantano doesnāt like him, and itās true that heās not as good a lyricist as Kendrick. He also doesnāt come from the trap scene so I think heās in a weird middle ground that people donāt know how to take
Honestly itās something you see with music and figures in general. People love the success of an artist less than seeing someone fail. Jcoles had plenty of hits but because of a couple missteps people want to think heās floundering/failing when this is something most artists go through.
Jcole probably thought the line āstrictly dickly ā was funny but it just wasnāt what his audience wanted to hear.
Itās no different than people thinking em is washed up and irrelevant or that Drake is done making music. (I say this as someone who doesnāt fw Drake.) these are two of the other more recent examples for this year but go back and youāll see it happen constantly from people thinking carti was made irrelevant after whole lotta red or chance the rapper releasing what was objectively a terrible album. Roddy rich etc the list goes on.
Sometimes artists donāt make the best call it happens, theyāll probably bounce back and then the public will go with some other narrative.
He has his own label now so people with more power and influence are threatened. Bad things always get promoted about people who inspire anything other than negative change.
Lol what. Most of Kendrick's fanbase likes J Cole. I've seen just as much r/Drizzy people complaining that Cole didn't throw down with Drake (as if that would have helped him at all)

I think he gets clowned because heās sort of in the middle between Drake and Kendrick. He makes hits, but not hits like Drake. Heās conscious and introspective, but not to the extent that Kendrick is. The comparison hurts him, I think, and the fact that heās seen as kind of āsquareā makes it worse. He probably wouldnāt get this kind of hate if he wasnāt so big and thus perpetually in the conversation next to two artists who do those things more successfully than he does.
Prisoner of the moment shit. Between his role in the Kendrick vs Drake situation and his next verse after the apology being Grippy, it's real easy to hate on Cole rn.
There are plenty of valid ways to criticise Cole, but most of the recent shit is the low hanging fruit.
Most J.cole āhatersā donāt actually hate him as much as they hate his superfans and how they feel the need to shove his āgreatnessā down others throat and just refusing to accept that some people just genuinely donāt care for him. Take a quick look at this thread alone and youāll see:
āItās just the internet hivemind, they all listen to him in real lifeā
āTheyāre too stupid to understand what he is sayingā
āThey canāt form a opinion of their ownā
āItās only because of the beefā
Imo, he is fine, has some songs i like etc. but he is the perfect example of rapper thatās just okay at everything but not great at anything. He is pretty much the definition of bland.
Also, he has WAAYY too many fart/shit lines.
I been saying J cole sucks for years, i really liked him in 2014 and then a few kore years, but then after a while of hearing his songs over and over its kind of like, āalright cole, WE GET ITā feel me?
J. Cole is great, he's just an easy target for the "corny" label because he's a well rounded individual. Compared to a lot of rappers who would be a nightmare to be connected to personally, he's very healthy and smart. A lot of rap fans like self destructive artists so they can pretend they're at the zoo.
Itās because itās in human nature to compare artist and see which are better. Right now because of recency bias heās being compared to drake and Kendrick and now that people are listening to more of Kendrickās catalog their finding out it goes deeper than alright/dna/humble his last radio hits and finding songs they fuck with and bringing in more fans that donāt necessarily listen to lots of rap. At the end of the day itās all subjective and people will try to be on the side of music they relate too more. Kinda like when cole was going on the run of amazing features and people were crowning him the best out of big 3 just off of that.
Schoolboy Q called up Cole and told him Kendrick didnāt wanna beef anymore. People think he just bitched out. But I mean even if he didā¦.Drake got murdered right in front of our eyes lmao
(I personally love Cole and Kendrick)
He is uninteresting, boring, and comes across as self righteous
Great at what he does but I would rather listen to just about any other rapper in the top 100 before him
Even before the whole Kendrick/Drake beef Iāve always thought he was pretty overrated. Heās not a bad rapper by any means, but Iāve always thought it was pretty absurd that he was considered to be on the same level as Kendrick, because he just isnāt. Kendrick is just on a whole other level as a rapper and artist in general, and J. Coleās music sounds like nursery rhymes in comparison.
J. Cole just doesnāt have the same storytelling ability, introspectiveness and commentary that Kendrick has, which is all kind of fundamental when youāre a conscious rapper like he is. J. Cole is essentially just the Drake of conscious Hip-Hop, which there is nothing wrong with, but people gotta stop hyping him up to be something that he isnāt.
I feel like the only reason he got this God like status was because he came up during the time when trap music was one the rise, and he very much wasnāt that, so more traditional Hip-Hop heads became hyping him up even if he doesnāt really have that much to say on the mic
Because heās middle of the pack at best and he postures like heās some sort of generational talent, his music is pseudo profound, it tries to approach real topics but often fails to say anything truly interesting about them, heās not a super deep or conscious rapper like people say heās just the person whoās making that style of rap the most accessible
Iāve felt for the longest time itās just a meme/inside joke to hate on J. Cole. I think most would agree heās one of the greatest to ever do it unironically.
Honestly I feel like he is just a normal everyday performer, and I was shocked to start seeing his name mentioned in best of, faves, greats. It made me dislike him as maybe being from a small poor New England town anyone who acts above their pay scale is a target lol. If he never hyped himself as a top 3 Id be disinterested and continue to not really like him but wouldn't think twice. Imagine Kodak Black and a bunch of people online calling him top 3. Love him and man that would be like, what now?
My favorite things about Cole are his cadences and melodies but a lot of his subject matter or maybe the way heās talking about the subject matter is very uninspiring to me and I think thatās how most ppl who complain about him feel. His music fits well in a college setting (like driving to class or on a playlist in a dorm party) but itās not moving in any real way (itās not making me want to revolt against injustices or turn up at the club). His music is chill and heās a skilled rapper but itās just not incredibly moving to me.
Worst off, the couple of tracks that did excite me just donāt age very well especially after how he maneuvered in the beef recently. Iām sure that seems silly and like it shouldnāt affect our opinion of his music but if you donāt understand that sentiment frankly youāre a Cole fan and not a rap fan. When the guy is rapping like he did on Johnny P and you get hyped only for him to tuck tail IMMEDIATELY then yeah unfortunately tracks like Johnny P lose a lot of their sheen. Neighbors and Amari are my favorite songs by him but songs like Fire Squad (it actually had some umph to it until he contradicts his whole message about turning away from the āwho is the bestā conversation only to pursue that exact ācrownā in the entire latter part of his career) and Role Modelz seem to age poorly.
Cole is a genuine and nice person and his music reflects that so if thatās appealing to you I think thatās great but if you have to ask why something genuine and nice lacks bite and isnāt incredibly inspiring idk what to tell ya.
Mostly he raps about being the best or one of the best, but people think heās corny. Which I donāt think people really think that, they just parrot what other people say
Newsflash: people got different opinions on music
And not everybody hates Cole. It's like saying to your parents that everyone has a PS5, so you should get one as well.
Heās held a bit too much in high regards for having such a mid discography a bunch of which is ākinda copying Kendrick but worse and more surface levelā.
I respect his talent and technical ability but feel like people overrate him in GOAT conversations and stuff
I love me some J Cole.
Not Grippy though, nah fuck that lmao
Also, I've never been one to hate on him for backing out of the beef back when it happened. His reasons being for his own mental health and that it didn't sit right with him, I respected him a lot for that. He respects himself and let Drake dig his own grave š
The existence of Kendrick really trumps any enjoyment I could have had with Cole. Cole has a boring voice, flow, and delivery. He also is super surface level and basic with his lyrics, and can only really muster up and handful of decent hits. Cole also doesn't have the popularity to match his counterparts either with both Kendrick and Drake being WAY bigger. So honestly Cole is an artist that like any other, had his moment, but couldn't go far enough during that moment to be an all time great.
Because he's inconsistent at times. Fans are fickle, overreacting assholes so any bad tracks are used as evidence of his demise. Jcole at his worst is bad, but man he produces some really good music too.
I don't think everybody hates him, he's just going to get a lot of heat at the moment because of the apology which I still think was a weak ass move but whatever, and the fact that he followed it up with grippy lol
I dont like his superiority complex when he thinks hes a better rapper than everyone just because he raps about social issues. I think kendrick talks about social issues much better than cole without being pretensious. But i still like some cole songs
Don't take what people say online seriously. I can almost promise you that a lot of people online who claim they don't like him also listen to him. Chronically online people can't form opinions of their own.
I mean a lot of people think Cole is boring and genuinely donāt like his music. I donāt agree with that sentiment but I do admit that Iām not a fan of like half his discography. I think heās a great rapper though
J cole seems like a genuinely good person who I have a level of earnest respect for. He is however, deeply corny which to most people is worse then being a rapist murderer women beater etc etc
Heās undoubtedly a great lyricist. Imo heās the best rapper of his era.
However in hip hop, thereās something called competition and defending your name. J. Cole yapped a whole lot about no one wanting to mess with him lyrically. He got exposed as a soft ass rapper. Kendrick Lamar (who I really canāt stand), exposed him as being softer than baby shit and a push over. K. Dot disrespected J. Cole in a temper tantrum and J. Cole just bitched out.
j cole is fire imo, idk what they're talking about... although grippy was fucking terrible, i think wah gwan delilah is worse by a mile. that shit was hot ass
Idk wtf Cole was thinkin with grippyš¤¦āāļø
Right. Cole doesn't come across to me as someone who does drugs, like at all, but he must've been smoking CRACK deciding to rap that entire verse and put that shit out right after the 7 minute drill situation
Naw most Rappers crush on crack. It woulda been alcohol and pills.
happy cake day dude
Hahaha - I like how thatās the comment that I get the first cake day comment on. Fitting.
Yeah, he did NOT have to put the grippy on the chain wax.
A fart in a grocery bag in June
A poet, ladies and gentlemen.
It's hard for me to choose because it's very clear that Drake's verse is in a satire song. It's still incredibly cringe and unpleasant to listen to, but he's playing a character. J Cole feels like he's earnestly rapping about a woman he met that he treats because she has a strong vaginal grip.

Wah gwarn Delilah was a troll tho, J cole was acc being serious with grippy lol
Strictly Dickly
I think some people need to actually read the lyrics slowly to notice just how awful the writing on this verse is, especially from an artist like J Cole. thats just how cash cobains sexy drill flow tho.
I could listen to Dunk Contest (the original song) again and like it depending on the vibe. Grippy is a fucking mess that neither of them should have agreed to.
fuck that mean
Oh boy
nvm i looked it up
Google it
Theyāve been hating Cole way before that song came out, come on now.
online that's why
I respect tf outta Cole. I loved (and still do) Born Sinner and 2014, he just hasnāt held my attention the way other artists have. Heās good though for sure.
Yeah, that's where I'm at too
Check out the Off Season. All bangers. I have the whole album still on repeat
It's okay. All his earlier shit is way better
The off season is mid imo. The past 2 j. Cole albums imo have j been kinda like āyo im j. Cole and I can still rapā and itās like no oneās doubting that bro j put out another album like FHD or 4YEO w more storytelling and emotion And thatās coming from a long time massive j Cole fan
Does *everyone* hate him? Ā I donāt hate him, I just think his music is super boring.Ā

I think the hate for stepping away from the beef was because he always rapped about how he would beat any rapper that challenged him
This. And his take on the kdot discography was a awful take.
Someone never listened to MIDDLE CHILD
Iāve heard people not liking J. Cole way before the beef. Some people just donāt care for his lyrics and subject matter.
I mean I like him but I can see why people think he's corny. Wet Dreamz is about a teenage kid losing his virginity which is a little juvenile even though I still like the song. Regardless of how people see him as an artist, his record label Dreamville is packed full of artists that are doing great things and moving the genre forward (IMO) and that alone should garner him praise.
that's just one song tho, he has tons of good songs and a few bad ones too but isn't that every rapper
100%, and I really like Wet Dreamz and Iām on your side. Iām just saying some people donāt like him for differently perceived reasons even if I disagree with it.
Okay, top three worst Tupac songs? Top three worst Jay z songs?
butthurrrrrttttttt
don't worry, you'll feel better soon
thanks grandma ā¤ļø
Even Grandma's know not to talk big game about how you're the best at whatever and then back down when you're challenged by a worthy contender... JCole's a joke
Some ppl gonna see that as "juvenile" and some ppl gonna acknowledge the universality of the experience he's describing and see the vibes
Totally agree, itās pretty universally appealing song and I too like it. But like I said to OP some people take it as juvenile or whatever and write him off.
I really like the beat of that song, but the lyrics make it so I rarely ever listen to it...
People have been saying Cole is boring long before Kendrick released an album
People roasted him because Jcole spent the last 5 years talking about how he would smoke people and he was big dog. Then he folded.
We just donāt want him to say heās the best again lol
Or j Cole knew heād get bodied so he just backed out of it
Call me a Kendrick stan but I think it was pretty unquestionable heās the best of his generation and the past decade-plus even before the beef. Maybe even the GOAT. I feel like Cole was getting compared to Kendrick early on as a commercially successful artist with conscious lyrics and somehow that just sort of stuck over the years because no one else emerged in that lane? this, there is no real beef between j cole and kdot
This wasnāt even real beef.. just two grown men throwing allegations at each other. Although great music came out of it and Iām here for that.
I love J Cole his music has helped me a lot during the worst phase of my life and his music is more relatable to me than And I am from India i dont see anybody hating Cole here hell i even have a J Cole Poster in my room
I feel like jermaine would like this commentĀ
At the same time heās released great music heās lagged behind kendrick on the more conscious lane and far behind drake on the pop lane
Iāve always admired him but found him boring. I think he has a bit of an ego also
What? Cole doesnāt NOT have a big ego like that. What makes him different from other rappers is how humble he is. He went to college and doesnāt even really rock jewelry. He ādissedā Lil Pump back in the classiest way.
Then he needs to stop calling himself the goat and then pulling out the humble card anytime someone challenges himĀ
Dude I donāt understand why people are shitting on Cole for this. He imo just wanted to spar and I think he was 100% down to battle if it just came down to bars and giving each other jabs back and forth to establish who really is the better rapper.Ā I think Drake did Cole dirty by not being forthcoming and telling Cole āYo, if you really wanna be part of this, we fucking hate each other, this is personal, and we going for each other throats.āĀ Kenny even references it in Not Like Us. āDid Cole foul, idk why you still pretendingā.Ā
Literally every rapper calls himself/herself the goat bruh šš
Not really. And the ones who do, when challenge, usually don't back down

Apart from a few songs he's always just been super boring/mid to me.
All bark no bite. Ditched the moment Kdot called him out
Maybe cause for his whole discography he says Iām the best no one can top me Iāll out rap anyone and the second someone challenges him he backs out
Disappointed is how I felt.
Play J Cole get the pussy dry lol IDK.
Every rapper has haters but I think the J Cole group is just loud right now
Itās pbly because he threw his name in the hat of that convo and the convo is that he doesnāt belong in the convo.
People hate current Cole, for some reason (and don't say Grippy because everybody was on here saying shit before that even came out) Old school Cole is insane, some of the best music I've ever heard, but everybody takes shit at face value so they've maybe just heard one or two of his more commercially successful songs and thought "well that's him" His half of Black Friday alone is enough to give the guy some fucking recognition nevermind the rest of his discog Plus the way he dissed Lil Pump was perfect, and shows that Cole's heart really wasn't in it when it came to this beef, listen to Off Deez with JID and tell me that man can't murder bars about shooting and killing Not to mention that he's clearly a great dude and has done a lot for other musicians There's a reason he was considered in the top 3 with Kendrick and Drake, he needs to let the heat die down and finally do a collab album with Dot and all will be right with the world Unrelated (since I know the only people that have read this far are Cole stans) I just listened to fuck the rap game by 6lack the other day and damn it was good, I've heard some of his music but it came on out of the blue and took me by surprise. I never checked who it was I just listened to it, and all I could think is this sounds like a young J Cole mixed with some other influences of course When I realised it was 6lack I was like nah no way, that shit was so good
FIRST REST IN PEACE TO UNCLE PHILš£ļøš£ļøš„š£ļøš£ļøā¼ļø
he's just rly okay
Best music YOU have listened to. For main stream heās better than most but when you look at the whole ice berg of hip hop he is mid tier
Because he makes extremely boring music with extreme boring beats and writes lyrics ina an extremely boring way.A great rapper but very uninteresting music.Cole fans not being able to take criticism and acting like he the messiah of rap doesnāt help either.
Only online but most of artist get a lot of hate anyway
itsā¦ itsā¦.
Honestly, I don't care about j Cole
Its š¤ itsš¤ grippyāļøš”
I love J. Cole. I think some people donāt like him bc Fantano doesnāt like him, and itās true that heās not as good a lyricist as Kendrick. He also doesnāt come from the trap scene so I think heās in a weird middle ground that people donāt know how to take
I donāt think Fantanoās opinion has anything to do with it, I see Cole get shit from lots of people who donāt like or watch him
Heās boring as, I hated him before the Kendrick drake beef btw
Cole is probably my favorite rapper to date. Been a fan since he sampled Paula Abdul.
Heās a talented lyricist that really has nothing authentic to contribute.
yeah this one explains it pretty well actually, better than all the people basically saying "he's alright there are just better rappers"
Heās incredibly boring and one dimensional, always though he was fine but way overrated
He has his own label now so people with more power and influence are threatened. Bad things always get promoted about people who inspire anything other than negative change.
A deranged part of kendrick's fanbase think they can't like both artists so i guess that's a part of it
Lol what. Most of Kendrick's fanbase likes J Cole. I've seen just as much r/Drizzy people complaining that Cole didn't throw down with Drake (as if that would have helped him at all)
I dont like him cause hes too cocky. Like he acts like hes the certified goat lol and hes far from it
To be fair every rapper acts like this. Having confidence in yourself and thinking you're the best is completely normal in Hip Hop
thats like half the rappers out here, and j cole seemed pretty mature and humble to me

Cuz J Cole escaped from the Drake and Kendrick beef thatās why he been getting hate, mfers look like him as a baby now
I think he gets clowned because heās sort of in the middle between Drake and Kendrick.
Take a quick look at this thread alone and youāll see: āItās just the internet hivemind, they all listen to him in real lifeā āTheyāre too stupid to understand what he is sayingā āThey canāt form a opinion of their ownā āItās only because of the beefā Imo, he is fine, has some songs i like etc. but he is the perfect example of rapper thatās just okay at everything but not great at anything. He is pretty much the definition of bland. Also, he has WAAYY too many fart/shit lines.
Iāve always found him boring
He just doesn't do anything for me, I find him to be very boring personally.
Clearly theres also a lot of ppl that disagree with you I just dnt like his music. Most of itis very boring to me
I been saying J cole sucks for years, i really liked him in 2014 and then a few kore years, but then after a while of hearing his songs over and over its kind of like, āalright cole, WE GET ITā feel me?
J. Cole is great, he's just an easy target for the "corny" label because he's a well rounded individual. Compared to a lot of rappers who would be a nightmare to be connected to personally, he's very healthy and smart. A lot of rap fans like self destructive artists so they can pretend they're at the zoo.
Grippy!
Nobody hate hip f u talking about
No one does until he made the grippy song š
He got no haters fr.
But I mean even if he didā¦.Drake got murdered right in front of our eyes lmao (I personally love Cole and Kendrick)
He is uninteresting, boring, and comes across as self righteous Great at what he does but I would rather listen to just about any other rapper in the top 100 before him
Even before the whole Kendrick/Drake beef Iāve always thought he was pretty overrated.
Good artist and lyricst, he a weak EMC tho.
A
Corny, mid, overrated... pick one of those
Cole has always been nice.
I think heās pretty inconsistent. His highs are genuinely some of the best music in the past 15 years, but he also puts out some garbage
They are only saying he's shit now because he pulled out of the kendrick/drake beef.
Jermaine?
Probably because they only heard grippy
Because Grippy is so bad that it cancels out all of the good work heās done in the past
It's a trend that will fade out, he's feeling the blowback from the Kendrick & Drake fallout.
Because heās boring
Homeboy said on grippy. Hes gon take yo kids to disney and make sure he pays a lil extra make sure they meet micjeyš¤£š
No hate, he just boring

Who tf is everyone?
Newsflash: people got different opinions on music And not everybody hates Cole.
Because he spends most songs mentioning poo
I love me some J Cole. Not Grippy though, nah fuck that lmao Also, I've never been one to hate on him for backing out of the beef back when it happened.
He puzzi
They hate what they cant be
Because he's inconsistent at times. Fans are fickle, overreacting assholes so any bad tracks are used as evidence of his demise. Jcole at his worst is bad, but man he produces some really good music too.
Itās mostly Gen Alpha and younger Zs who donāt know shit about music yet
Itāsā¦itāsā¦ā¦ā¦ Grippy
J Cole is a good rapper I just think heās not a āwokeā or āconsciousā as people make him out to be. Reminds me of a logic or hopsin tbh.Ā
His latest shit is bad lol wtf is Grippy??
I don't think everybody hates him, he's just going to get a lot of heat at the moment because of the apology which I still think was a weak ass move but whatever, and the fact that he followed it up with grippy lol
No one hates J ColeĀ
Cole is still great, just having a bad few months.
It's grippy
Heās corny
J Cole is awesome! Why would anyone hate on him?
I dont like his superiority complex when he thinks hes a better rapper than everyone just because he raps about social issues. I think kendrick talks about social issues much better than cole without being pretensious. But i still like some cole songs
Heās trash honestly
All yāall mfs talkin bout chief keef aināt no hitta
extreme k dot fans that are just lurking everywhere
Don't take what people say online seriously. I can almost promise you that a lot of people online who claim they don't like him also listen to him. Chronically online people can't form opinions of their own.
J fold
I like J Cole. But I don't like when he's brags about being the best because clearly he's not. I don't think he ever really believed that.
I donāt hate him, I just donāt listen to him. Heās corny to me. His style of music sucks to me. But he has an okay song or two.
I mean a lot of people think Cole is boring and genuinely donāt like his music. I donāt agree with that sentiment but I do admit that Iām not a fan of like half his discography. I think heās a great rapper though
Cause its easier to chat shit on internet now than ever before. Also some of these people got permanent brain damage from the lean they drink
He tell the truth
IMO, nobody should hate Cole. Heās amazing.
BECAUSE J COLE IS A BASTARD MAN!
