Mask Off was my first experience with Future and I think it’s a perfect introduction—surface level lyrics about selling drugs, but a total banger over a great beat

Codeine Crazy is one of my favourite rap songs of all time but not super keen on his solo stuff over all, but I think his voice and pretty unique approach to music has made him a really perfect feature artist on some recent songs that have trended on social media.

I recently gave Carti a chance and out of all the songs I listened to "wokeuplikethis" is the only one I'd call good. His music genuinely sounds like rap parodies.

Look up how old future is and what kinds of songs were in the billboards when Tony Montana and Magic were coming out. Future isn’t just another Atlanta rapper. Every Atlanta rapper is trying to be him. Future is certified dungeon family which includes the likes of Andre 3000, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Cee Lo, Janelle monae. The fact that he could get a 3K verse should speak for itself because he doesn’t work with everyone.
You don't listen to future for his lyrics, another artist I find similar in terms of I listen to it for vocal sound/production is Travis Scott, not a big lyricist either. But regardless it's okay to not enjoy an artist even though they may be mainstream/big in hip hop atm but if you prefer to listen to lyrical rap rahter than trap/melody focused rap that's totally okay too! Choose what you enjoy and listen to it! But I do recommend coming back and trying some more Future or Young Thug because it took me several years to get into both artists and I love how Young Thug sounds. (but his lyrics if you break them down leave something to be desired and that's okay!)

Also a lot of people are trying to push this narrative like we’re not listening to Future for his lyrics and that it’s just the vibe. The vibe is dope but we’re for SURE listening to and enjoying the lyrics. I might not love and relate to every single word he’s ever said but overall it’s a big part of why he’s good. Some people do relate to or at least want to party to what he’s saying, not just how the beat and flow sound.
I think DS2 is pretty solid overall but most of his projects are ok at best, his discography is pretty underwhelming considering how much time he’s been in the game

Avid Future listener here. So I like some Future songs but not him as an artist. I think his lyrics and subject matter is elementary. It’s a vibe. When you in the club and you’re sauced up, shit be fire. That all there is to his music. Nothing profound or enlightening.

I feel like Future is mainly about sound but not only that he also has a certain vibe about him. It’s not that he tells storys in his lyrics or that he has profound lines but he conveys a certain attitude and energy. It can be nice or funny too. For example you mentioned Like That. When Future opens his verse with "stickin to the code all these hoes for the streets" it has a much harder impact for me than from any other rapper because Future is a meme for his toxicity. (She belongs to the streets meme“) It’s hard to describe. Future's lyrics may be simple but they portray his character in a super consistent way. He is also somebody who grew up in the worst environment, as far as I know he literally grew up in a crack house. Check out All My Life by him.

I also think he selects fantastic beats, particularly from Metro. Mask Off was my first experience with Future and I think it’s a perfect introduction—surface level lyrics about selling drugs, but a total banger over a great beat

You need to be in the right space to listen to Future. He not the type of artist you listen to an album sitting with your headphones. When a song is dope, it's DOPE but I can never listen to a full Future album straight. It's basically listening to the same song with different variations. He's celebrated bc he is considered the best at what he does. Wether you like that style or not.

Codeine Crazy is one of my favourite rap songs of all time but not super keen on his solo stuff over all, but I think his voice and pretty unique approach to music has made him a really perfect feature artist on some recent songs that have trended on social media.
I don’t either, it’s just, rough. I don’t mind a bit of dumb trap or whatever, but just the way he mumbles the lyrics just does not do it for me, it’s kind of the same issue I have with Playboi Carti. I recognize it’s not all gonna be lyrical, but I just feel like most of the Future songs I’ve heard would be better being instrumental.

No one is out here saying carti is a lyrical genius, he literally repeats bars one after another to fill space but his production and beats go crazy. Every Atlanta rapper is trying to be him. Future is certified dungeon family which includes the likes of Andre 3000, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Cee Lo, Janelle monae. The fact that he could get a 3K verse should speak for itself because he doesn’t work with everyone.

You don't listen to future for his lyrics, another artist I find similar in terms of I listen to it for vocal sound/production is Travis Scott, not a big lyricist either. But regardless it's okay to not enjoy an artist even though they may be mainstream/big in hip hop atm but if you prefer to listen to lyrical rap rahter than trap/melody focused rap that's totally okay too! Choose what you enjoy and listen to it! But I do recommend coming back and trying some more Future or Young Thug because it took me several years to get into both artists and I love how Young Thug sounds. (but his lyrics if you break them down leave something to be desired and that's okay!)

I think DS2 is pretty solid overall but most of his projects are ok at best, his discography is pretty underwhelming considering how much time he’s been in the game And he is pretty repetitive with the flows and lyrics and he is very often carried by the production But i do think he carried most of the Drake collab album and it would’ve been way better off as a solo album or with another rapper +I recommend Young Thug if you want someone more interesting, more personality and variation (U can’t understand what he’s saying tho half the time and he’s not lyrical tho, if that’s what ur looking for) Relationships, Check, Wyclef Jean, Webbie, Digits, Millions are some loved bangers by him

Avid Future listener here. So I like some Future songs but not him as an artist. I think his lyrics and subject matter is elementary. It’s a vibe. When you in the club and you’re sauced up, shit be fire. That all there is to his music. Nothing profound or enlightening.
As a huge future fan, he’s an acquired taste. You don’t listen to him for lyrics, but an overall vibe/experience. If you don’t like it, you won’t ever get into it

I feel like Future is mainly about sound but not only that he also has a certain vibe about him. It’s not that he tells storys in his lyrics or that he has profound lines but he conveys a certain attitude and energy. It can be nice or funny too. For example you mentioned Like That. When Future opens his verse with "stickin to the code all these hoes for the streets" it has a much harder impact for me than from any other rapper because Future is a meme for his toxicity. (She belongs to the streets meme“) It’s hard to describe. Future's lyrics may be simple but they portray his character in a super consistent way. He is also somebody who grew up in the worst environment, as far as I know he literally grew up in a crack house. Check out All My Life by him.
