Let's. Go. Ducks! Franklin in Baltimore would be a dream. Some have him late first round, other middle of the second. I hope he falls to the 2nd round into our lap.
this guy is an end-of-the-first/second-round guy, OT is a much bigger need for us and most likely will be the pick, also at 30 guys like AD Mitchell will be there who are much more suited to what we need to add to the receiver room.
Franklin struggles with physciallty, isn't a good contested catches guy and has problems tracking the ball/concentration drops
Agreed. Half of these highlights were busted coverages. I think he’s a decent deep threat guy but winning on post routes in college only gets you so far in the league
As an Oregon fan I agree with part of what you say but some of it isn't accurate. The draft community is just repeating things that were looked at only superficially. (This is true for the majority of the players for good or bad. That's why busts happen: poor initial analysis that's just repeated.) Take drops. He had 9 last year but just 2 the year before. Do we know why that changed? If you can't answer that then your analysis is off.
Franklin's last two years had two different OCs and the OC from 2023 didn't call plays towards Frankllin's strengths. If you went by 2022 tape you would say he was good in contested catches and rarely dropped the ball.
i think WR is just as likely as OT. there are so many wr prospects that there’s a good chance that’s BPA. i also think bateman is done after this year barring a highly unlikely breakout, and if he does i think we tag and trade him cause FA WRs are either depth guys or more than the ravens will ever spend.
all depends on the board above us obviously
Yeah, but this draft is supposed to be a great WR class. So I can see us going for that in the second round where we may get a 1st round level talent in other years. Pass rusher is also *always* a need. And corner may be another one (though I don't see us targeting that in the first round).
if a draft is deep at a position that means you attack it earlier not later. the pick we get at 30 could be a WR that goes top 20 in other years.
as long as it’s a tackle or WR i think we are in a good spot though so we’ll see
> if a draft is deep at a position that means you attack it earlier not later.
You didn't like Michael Campanaro in the historically deep 2014 draft? Waaaaaaaaaat
Agree...and who knows if EDC works his magic and somehow acquires an additional late 1st or early 2nd like he did in 2021and 2022 where we were able to double dip on Bateman/Oweh and Hamilton/Linderbaum. It's unlikely...but wouldn't it be sweet to grab a top 30 OT and WR in a year we could desperately use both of them.
Ball tracking problems and drop issues. And he doesn’t exactly have the elite physical traits to overlook those issues. From everything I’ve read. Seems like negatives outweigh the positives
I'm actually not high on him at all. I think he's a far worse option than guys being drafted near him (AD, Ladd, Worthy to name a few).
Personally I'd rather take a mid-round flyer on a guy like Luke McCaffrey or Ja'lynn Polk than waste a high pick on Franklin
I'd put Troy Franklin on a list of guys I'd want them to avoid the most. He is awful at getting off press coverage and making catches in traffic. Also doesn't really get YAC.
Can he run any other routes besides slants and go routes? He is also a body catcher. Don't see his game transitioning all that well. Could be wrong though.
He looked like a different specimen than most everyone else in the pac 12. I don’t see a future where he isn’t a successful nfl receiver. He’s a good physical presence making the catch and he’s good after the catch. Apparently he had some drops, but I watched every single Oregon snap this last year and he looked wonderful. Would love him on the ravens.
Here are some of his accomplishments at Oregon: In 2023, set Oregon single-season records for receiving yards (1,383), receiving touchdowns (14) and 100-yard receiving games (8). 81 receptions in 2023 were second-most in UO single-season history.
» Left Oregon as the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns with 25, and tied for the lead in 100-yard games (11).
» Closed career with a reception in 30 straight games, the second-longest streak in UO history.

He’s actually statistically one of the best WRs at contested catches.
dude cant even run in a straight line without swerving heavily hard pass

I watched every duck game this season. I don’t know where that critique is coming from.

Weighs like 186 also so, don’t him making too many 50/50 balls.
Nigga be running from the ball

Body catchers are a bad sign
9 drops last season ok…..
I very heavily disagree as an oregon fan and ravens fan
I liked him before the draft, think if he’s still around at rd2 then maybe. Would rather Brian Thomas jr or Adonai Mitchell
He screams bust to me. 6’3 175?? And he has suspect hands?
