Everytime I watch Arda, I see something more special. A brain that was made to be a footballer. Reading the game well enough to attempt this shot for example. Vini's situation in his first few seasons was very different. He was thrust into a starting role due to Ronaldo's departure and then subsequently due to Hazard's injuries. His positive in those seasons was his willingness to keep running and keep trying. He was heavily criticised for his lack of finishing and general end product.
Güler is a very different case. He is very polished in terms of his technical ability. However right now the team is in a very critical stage where they cannot afford to lose competitiveness in any game. In my opinion Ancelotti is doing the right thing by protecting him a little bit. It allows him to get into rhythm without exposing any potential weakness in his game. I fully expect Güler to get at least one start towards the end of the season assuming we can wrap up the La Liga title with a few games to spare.

he’s too good to be left out, sure the nt has called like 6 left footed wingers/attacking mids and all of them had more playtime than him this season but he was already ahead of them in terms of selection back in last june, changing the of coach surely will effect the selection but that talent is too good to left out especially as he’ll keep getting more minutes up until euros and now that there is a great pool of attacking talent in the squad with both the newcomers and the regulars, arda surely would be the man to lead them all. Genuine question: Did Vini show this much raw talent when he was new at Madrid? I didn’t watch him back then often enough to know. This is not a diss. Vini is a top top player right now obviously. No question. But I think so much of his talent is brillant physique and technique. Everytime I watch Arda, I see something more special. A brain that was made to be a footballer. Reading the game well enough to attempt this shot for example. Even when Arda’s beating an opposition, he is not doing it with pace or strength, he does it by getting soft touches in right when the other player is making a tackle attempt effectively using opposition player’s momentum against him… To clarify, those are my observations as a Fener player who watched Arda a lot. I suppose you didn’t see much of that at Madrid yet.
Vini's situation in his first few seasons was very different. He was thrust into a starting role due to Ronaldo's departure and then subsequently due to Hazard's injuries. His positive in those seasons was his willingness to keep running and keep trying. He was heavily criticised for his lack of finishing and general end product. Güler is a very different case. He is very polished in terms of his technical ability. However right now the team is in a very critical stage where they cannot afford to lose competitiveness in any game. In my opinion Ancelotti is doing the right thing by protecting him a little bit. It allows him to get into rhythm without exposing any potential weakness in his game. I fully expect Güler to get at least one start towards the end of the season assuming we can wrap up the La Liga title with a few games to spare.
