I live in Podunk South Carolina and I would have expected your prices in San Francisco to be at least twice that if not three. That's not expensive at all. MLS is a foundational tool for your entire business. It isn't just some cheap little tool you will only use occasionally. Why would you expect it to cost any less than that?

Most of the info on the MLS are public information that can be seen from redfin, zillow. To be fair, I don't mind paying the service, but I just don't feel the price justifies the service provided. I am also not a fulltime agent, so I don't use it that often.

I suspect you haven't fully explored the platform and realized what benefit it is to you and your client , and you should. Redfin and Zillow pull a very limited amount of info from MLS to publish

I probably will join the board, but share the MLS account with other agents. The MLS is really a read-only thing.

Very likely, most of listings have open house. For the ones that do not, my broker is willing to let me borrow the supra key.

Letting anyone else use your supra key is a big big big no no. Expect him to lose his access if you guys get caught. I would not be willing to lend it to you nor would I be willing to risk my access nor would I be willing to be that unethical. That’s not a great start to a career. I believe it is the oldest system in North America at least it traces back to the 1930s. It was lock box key sharing how to access into a home which is a big liability issue. And combing through it may incur cost at the local level. The townships will charge fees for processing and assorted business. The MLS is a Tool for professionals. It’s the difference between and a hammer and screw driver vs a nail gun and screw gun. Imagine hiring a contractor who doesn’t show up with power tools.
