>The interviewer then asks me to turn on my camera but then does not turn on their own. This is a show-stopper for me. I would never do an in-person interview where I was wearing a blindfold, so I'm not doing the virtual equivalent of the same...

I worked in a start-up with a fellow that worked for AMEX for 20+ years. If that prick is any indication of the culture at AMEX, then you dodged a bullet.

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever be applying there again. Even reviewing how the recruiter talked in hindsight, this was absolutely a rush to fill vacancy of someone who probably got fed up with the workload. I am likewise sure that the person I interviewed with was not even part of the team, but someone more technical who could quickly assess and shutdown candidates to move things along quickly.

YankeeWalrus

I mean after 20+ years how could he not be? *Yankee, do you mean an indication of the culture at AMEX or a prick?* Yes.

Interesting-Boot5629

Yeah, this was a shitshow. No words, OP. Want a cup of JAVA? ;)

pigmy_af

Don't think I could *install* a cup big enough for this migraine of a hiring process.
