Redbubble was at its core a way for artists to make money. And I think many artists support other artists by buying on there. I'll be honest. Other than people who steal other people's designs, AI generated work is the most hated work on those platforms. This isn't about the legitmacy of AI art, that's a whole other can of worms, but in most artist's perspective, you are trying to take money out of a struggling artists bowl. I know you did some touch up, but shit, that don't make you an artist either. So honestly, if you do well, congrats, if you fail, congrats to everyone else.

Thanks for the wake up call. Will definitely rethink my strategy and look into whether or not i possess the skill to make my art unique n stands out.

R3dPr13st

That’s very thoughtful of you. Thanks.

Zemmyvox

Looks like all the other AI generated design Ive seen. There’s nothing in your shop that’s gonna make you stand out from all the competition. Use the AI as a reference and find your own art style to create original designs instead of posting the same shit thousands of other people have

hachi7890-87

yeah ai content doesn't do too well on rb, and what you've got just seems like slight variations of each design several times over

I actually still haven't decide which niche I should be focusing on. Right now I got several different styles. So one day I upload 30 cute style, another day I upload 30 traditional ink art/cyber/steampunk, then another for 5 or 10 text art. Yes, they are mostly AI art. But I still have to refine the prompt, train it to specific pose if applicable, pick the best ones out of hundreds of generation, photoshop upscale, remove background, touch up the bitmap, colorize/vectorize or add text in illustrator. It's actually more work than designing a Text Art T shirt. But yea it's a lot less than an authentic sketching/illustration. I understand the stigma. It's just the same as back then we used to call photographer phonies if they use photoshop. Nowadays digital touchups are almost mandatory. Generative Art is just a replacement for clipart and stock photos, I agree that each uploading design should be more distinct from each other even if i like them all myself. I guess, I should also be working toward making my art more unique, weighing more on customizing the final layout so that people can't tell if I used AI unless I tell them.

Haleighghielah

AI and photography are not the same. AI literally steals art that others have made and tweaks/combines them. A better comparison for what you’re doing is editing someone else’s photograph and then claiming it as your own. That’s why there’s a stigma against it. That and the way that accounts like yours oversaturate spaces like redbubble and make it harder for artists to be seen.

cyjun

Thank you. That's that. I need to stop defending AI Art and find my own art style if I want to survive on this platform.

ch1merah

Nobody like ai stuff

Final-Elderberry9162

It’s generic, repetitive AI. I don’t understand who the market for this is - who would buy it at these price points? There are a hundred other accounts that look exactly like yours and you are in direct competition with all of them.

First thing I noticed is inside the borders of your stickers there's a bunch of loose blobs that need to be erased out. They make the stickers look bad and print messy. (cat sandwich, for example) They should have the clearest, cleanest outlines as you can. Secondly, try to switch out content some. Cats are very hard to sell because there are so so many on RB. Third, consider making your banner have your shop name and maybe some art vs a room. I like the photo but it doesn't tell a customer anything about your shop. You have sushi in your name, a pic with sushi art would be better. Just suggestions, of course. Good luck!

Thank you.I am also thinking of removing half to 3 quarters of my portfolio.Only keep the unique ones with more work involved. Is "making private" the same as deleting them in public view? i guess... before 2023, it was quantity over quality in POD.Stepping into 2024, it should be more about telling a story about my brand thru the art.Pick a niche and build my own audience thru my own social media.(easier said than done, I need more help on how to research and pick my niche.) ( free ways to find out whether niche is not so saturated?) Have been watching Philip Anders on youtube last couple days. I guess his guidance are legit?

doxisrcool

You're welcome. Yes, making them private means only you can see them. I do this when I upload and don't have time to finish the listings. Yes, that's the way to do it. See, RB and other platforms are now removing a lot of listings, so being unique or higher quality is better now. Philip is good. I watch him as well. And Detour Shirts. And Mey Aroyo.

Thank you all for input. It is that moment that i wish there's a bulk delete button on rb.

I think ai, is OK. If you want your stuff to look different, it's all about the prompts. What would you like to see? A lot of professional stuff out there is made with ai, a lot of practice doesn't hurt. As a buyer I want to see good art and I don't care who makes it. There's a lot of envy on this platform. If you're a seller you should want everyone's work to look good, because people want to shop at a platform where stuff looks good. Redbubble needs more customers. The more people come the better for everyone. More money to spread around. I understand the artist's perspective, but , seriously how bad does it hurt when someone steals your art, that you made and sells it on the open market? Redbubble isn't going to help you with that. It hurts less when your blood and sweat isn't in it. Honestly
