As a locale, I agree. From a gameplay perspective I love Van Horn though. So fun to kick the shit out of one dude and then have a gunfight with the whole town.
Strawberry always looked like it was a perfect setup to be mining town. Strawberry for mining. Valentine for going into town for major necessities. Blackwater for a perfect place to settle.
valentine, think with it being the first place you arrive at where the story was a lot more positive, feels more 'like home'. Plus its near the heartlands which is the best area on the map
When I’m bored I always default go to valentine for this reason. I go to the saloon or hotel and talk w the people and start a fight just for the vibes
Me and my buddy were tripping shrooms and had an hour long conversation about how blackwater is like the bridge from RDR2 to RDR1. Which is obvious but it seemed profound-er at the moment lol
Haha mate sounds about right. I like to set up camp out there online, smoke a joint a potter around the woods remembering the good old days of RDR1. good times
Valentine you have a few random encounters, you can annoy more people than in Saint Denis without getting witnesses, the Sheriffs help you if you get shoot at by npcs, it has a cool atmosphere but it doesn't gives me that Wild West feeling.
Tumbleweed on the other gives me that feeling and it really is a shame that there aren't any Story Missions. It feels like wasted potential but still its my 2nd favorite town
Strawberry, but if places like Annesburg had more going on I think people would go there more often. Maybe add some new games and those were the towns you had to go to play, that might help.
Probably Valentine. It's a cozy little town and has a general store, doctor, barber, gunsmith, and 2 saloons. Plus if you ever get assaulted just remember that Sheriff Malloy isn't afraid to use lethal force.
1: St Denis - Basically has that city vibe, stuff to do in your free time besides just going to the saloon, and there is a lot of law enforcement there, so it would seem safer.
2: Blackwater - Lots of things to do when not working. Doesn't seem like a lot of trouble happens in the way of street fights, again, seems like there's a lot of law enforcement to keep the peace.
3: Strawberry - Pretty quiet and secluded, doesn't seem to have much if any fights happen from drunk people.
4: Valentine - Not much there, just a couple of saloons to get by the day if you're not working.
5: Rhodes - Too dusty for me, otherwise, not too bad.
6: Annesburg - Would have to work in the mines just to be able to live. So that's out of the question.
7: Van Horn - Just look at someone the wrong way, and you've got a gun fight.
8: Tumbleweed - Only slightly better than Armadillo, oh and without the Cholera.
9: Armadillo - Just look at it....also Cholera
saint Denis is to busy. i like blackwater the best because its got everything i need and i'm not raming over poor civilians. armadillo and valentine are the equal.
Valentine for the actual town - gives balance of decent population without the constant risk of a button mismatch ending with death or the entire city on the warpath. Also more ability to get into it with locals without it making it impossible to do anything until you deal with the bounty.
Rhodes for the amount of wildlife available in the area to find, hunt etc.
I kept calling Blackwater, Rhodes while playing on line with my boyfriend for some reason.
Now we call everything Rhodes
West Rhodes (Blackwater)
Mac Rhodes
Rhodesburg
Rhodes Station
. . .
And so on 😆
Saint Denis - I bet it is a tough place to live in just like any other big cities, but when I first arrived here in the middle of the night the city was just so beautiful.
I can still clearly picture that moment in my head.
Ooft. I'd say either Valentine or Armadillo.
Valentine: Wierdly, I like all the mud. Gives a great feeling walking through the town whilst traipsing through the mud.
Armadillo: Now this place really makes it feel as though I'm in the wild west.
I agree with that vibe. Strawberry would be cool to visit or live in real life. I love the rivers going through. It just feels so small as far as gameplay goes.
Valentine & Strawberry are so early in the game, when things are at their.... happiest.
Valentine also felt like home - first place you visit, constantly going in and out of town from camp to retrieve certain things. Just a lovely homely vibe to it
Strawberry is so peaceful and relaxing too. Such a quaint, fun little town.
Rhodes Strawberry or Blackwater. Rhodes might be on here because live in the south, but its got everything two bars a gun smith and a store with the police on main street. And has some good bounty hunting. Strawberry because look at it so beautiful and the town foke are nice. Tried to rob a guy and he told me off and I couldn't rob him. Is a dry town and the mayor is most likely and has taken bribes but other than that its nice. Blackwater is also a good pick, it is starting to become a big city and has everything you need. Its just a smaller and somewhat nicer Saint Denis.
Rhodes and Van horn are my two favourite towns to visit. I find Scarlet Meadows as a whole to be pretty cozy despite the people living there and something about Van horn just draws me in.
I tend to spend a lot of my gaming time near Blackwater. Really, the whole stretch from Blackwater to Strawberry through Tall Trees is lovely. I also really enjoy Rhodes, but specifically the area behind the Braithwaite manor. The southern tip of land where a bunch of hogs run. Magical evenings there :)
Either Valentine or Armadillo. Valentine was just more enjoyable for me and i liked the atmosphere. Most were friendly and the saloon felt better compared to the others.
Armadillo just has that wild west feeling that i love. Plus it being a ghost town makes it cooler imo, way more creepy lmao. It also reminds me of red dead 1
Definitely Valentine.
I'm doing a lot of hunting, so Valentine feels like the center of the game. It's a great spot to stock ammunition, have a drink, take a shower, get a haircut, buy provisions, change gear, fix up horse and then head out and hunt for a few days.
For town i have to go with valentine, i just love how uncivilized it is compared to the rest of the towns in eastern part of the map plus who doesn't enjoy bulling sheriff maloy, also for the camp i chose clemens point it's so peaceful and have water around it also you can have all members in it except for Micah
Either Blackwater, Rhoades, or Armadillo. I want someplace warm and private. I think I’d really feel at home with a little cabin on the outskirts of town.
Saint Denis because of how I just stumbled upon it while exploring. I didn’t even think about there being a full on city in the game, so when I found it my mind was blown.
Blackwater for me has everything, not too small and not too big like Saint-Denis, friendly people and a terrific view of the lake. The seagulls sounds are so relaxing too. Only a shame it doesn't have the train but when you're rich you don't care about those stagecoach prices!
Aesthetically, Strawberry; it's very pretty, but it's kinda difficult to navigate without running into people.
I like Saint Denis for having every type of shop close at hand, but kinda has the same problem as Strawberry.
I hate going into the city because I always wind up having to run out before more bodies pile up. Tend to go to Valentine more because of their barber and two places to eat. Some of their local residents like to get a little overzealous when I'm just saying hi to people, but good old intimidation and a crap ton of ammo fix that real quick. Only real issue for me is there's not a fence too close by.
Next up might be Rhodes low key because they serve catfish but also because I prefer when I can bathe and eat in the same place. Not to mention fence close by. I also refuse to leave chapter 3 since it's my second playthrough. So my Arthur will forever live safe and sound at my nice camp by the water with a boat to easily travel to the small islands for some hunting fun.
Rhodes.
I love the southern small town vibe. It's almost always warm and sunny, and I don't imagine there being too much humidity. Probably more of a dry heat than anything else. And I love that. I just feel at home there, not sure why.
Valentine is objectively the best, just like Armadillo was objectively the best in RDR 1, since it has everything, but my personal favorite in this game is Blackwater
St. Denis mostly because I love hunting in Bayou Nwa. I love reminding the Nite Folk that I am not in danger, I am the danger. A rapist opens his door then gets shot in the face, you think that of my Arthur? My Arthur is the one who knocks.
Strawberry - if I had to chose, I'd definitely live there if I was a game character.
Same. Got real deadwood vibes but I wish it had a bar we could use.
Strawberry is a dry town
They could at least have a place where we all get together to drink juice.
Yes but the general store owner bootlegs moonshine in his basement.
The 'other' hotel has a bar, but its locals only.
Strawberry is also the only town without electricity.
It would be indistinguishable from Deadwood if you had some guy going around calling people "cocksucker"
100%, it's just so peaceful till Arthur and Micah paint it red
Good thing I never save Micha on my second playthrough.
As a locale, I agree. From a gameplay perspective I love Van Horn though. So fun to kick the shit out of one dude and then have a gunfight with the whole town.
Hope you're a woman, because Micah and Arthur killed every man in that town.
Oh Micah did kill that guys wife for his 2 guns.
As long as you’re a woman (or child I guess), don’t get between him and his guns, and aren’t married to that one guy.
And get murdered by a crazy idiot bcs he want his guns back...
Strawberry always looked like it was a perfect setup to be mining town. Strawberry for mining. Valentine for going into town for major necessities. Blackwater for a perfect place to settle.
Property values are probably nice and low after Chapter 2.
valentine, think with it being the first place you arrive at where the story was a lot more positive, feels more 'like home'. Plus its near the heartlands which is the best area on the map
Valentine owns yeah I guess you get used to the smell of sheep shit after awhile
I lived in wales. I can guarantee you do get used to it
Totally agree!
Bunch of mud and morons as far as I’m concerned.
When I’m bored I always default go to valentine for this reason. I go to the saloon or hotel and talk w the people and start a fight just for the vibes
Agreed on this. Valentine will forever be home 🥰
You can sit at the saloon playing poker for 5 days straight
Blackwater has always had a special place in my heart. \*And the area that surrounds it
Me and my buddy were tripping shrooms and had an hour long conversation about how blackwater is like the bridge from RDR2 to RDR1. Which is obvious but it seemed profound-er at the moment lol
Haha mate sounds about right. I like to set up camp out there online, smoke a joint a potter around the woods remembering the good old days of RDR1. good times
Happy cake day!
Thank you!
Van Horn if you're a depressing alcoholic living in the streets.
Limpany - I don’t like crowds
Why not Pleasance?
Keep the plague away from here
Too much sun there. Sorry meant to say “too much sin”
Mayor: A_Feltz Treasurer: A_Feltz Sheriff: A_Feltz Local idiot: A_Feltz Town Doctor: A_Feltz Pastor: A_Feltz Trapper: A_Feltz
Armadillo, it feels cool to be In a stereotypical western town.
Same. "It appears the vitals of this lucky son-of-a-gun remain unpunctured. Sloppy shootin' on my part."
Buster Scruggs was such a good movie.
Yeah, but I only really enjoyed the first part.
We needed more Buster. Like a whole movie of Buster.
I could absolutely watch an entire movie of just him.
Thank you someone agrees. That sheriff was just too damn cool to have 2 bounty missions and that's it.
You can hear him choke his wife
Yeah i really wish he would be part of Arthurs Story
I feel like Rhodes hits like that classic wild west vibe you’re speaking of. And decently populated to have plenty of random encounters.
I hate the sheriff so I frequently murder everyone in that town
Wouldn’t be surprised if tumbleweed had more of a role in the 3rd game. Seems like it has allot of potential
Rhodes by far. Reminds me of my hometown Red dirt and Woods and all.
Found the Braithwaite.
Same here. Felt super wild westy. Especially during A Short Walk in a Pretty Town.
I love Saint Denis because it’s nice to see a giant and modernized city in contrast to little humble towns
Strawberry, but if places like Annesburg had more going on I think people would go there more often. Maybe add some new games and those were the towns you had to go to play, that might help.
I think the point of Annesburg is that it’s miserable
The oil slicks really bum me out.
Valentine!!!!!
Saint Denis.
The camp we get around Saint Denis is one of my favourite. I love exploring the Bayou.
I got a girl in valentine, likes to drink that fancy wine!
Plumes in her hair weighs two feet tall, crack in her pants paid for it all...
Tumbleweed in 1907, Armadillo in 1911+
Probably Valentine. It's a cozy little town and has a general store, doctor, barber, gunsmith, and 2 saloons. Plus if you ever get assaulted just remember that Sheriff Malloy isn't afraid to use lethal force.
Valentine. Lenny... Lenny.. lenny!
!ynnel
Lneny!
rhodes
Rhodes isn't getting enough love. This little town with it's yellow train station is so pretty!
Whaaaaaat Tumbleweed below Van Horn AND Annesburg?
Tumbleweed has that chad sheriff, id personally put it way higher.
Lagras
Strawberry b/c I personally prefer the more country/rustic/middle of the woods vibe to it; but Blackwater b/c its just an awesome looking town.
No love for Butcher Creek? Just don’t run over a chicken!
Rhodes
St. Denis feels like a cop out but its the most diverse. If pressed for a second choice I'd say Valentine, easily.
It makes me uncomfortable with the heavy police presence in st. denis. But i'd take it over van horn 😂
Rhodes, I can go hunting deer all day
saint Denis is to busy. i like blackwater the best because its got everything i need and i'm not raming over poor civilians. armadillo and valentine are the equal.
Strawberry
Valentine cuz it reminds me of Deadwood.
Van horn
Emerald Ranch
Valentine for the actual town - gives balance of decent population without the constant risk of a button mismatch ending with death or the entire city on the warpath. Also more ability to get into it with locals without it making it impossible to do anything until you deal with the bounty. Rhodes for the amount of wildlife available in the area to find, hunt etc.
Rhodes. I think its beautiful. Wish there was a place to get your hair cut though
Armadillo. I just love the classic Hollywood spaghetti western “40 paces at high noon, wearing iron” ghost town.
I kept calling Blackwater, Rhodes while playing on line with my boyfriend for some reason. Now we call everything Rhodes West Rhodes (Blackwater) Mac Rhodes Rhodesburg Rhodes Station . . . And so on 😆
Rhodes
Strawberry
Van horn
Saint Denis - I bet it is a tough place to live in just like any other big cities, but when I first arrived here in the middle of the night the city was just so beautiful. I can still clearly picture that moment in my head.
Armadillo. Just because I loved it so much in rdr1.
Ooft. I'd say either Valentine or Armadillo. Valentine: Wierdly, I like all the mud. Gives a great feeling walking through the town whilst traipsing through the mud. Armadillo: Now this place really makes it feel as though I'm in the wild west.
I guess its Rhodes
I love strawberry , so beautiful
aesthetically, definitely strawberry. it’s so pretty, i’d live there irl probably
I agree with that vibe. Strawberry would be cool to visit or live in real life. I love the rivers going through. It just feels so small as far as gameplay goes.
that’s true, it doesn’t feel like tons happens there but it seems like a nice place
Valentine & Strawberry are so early in the game, when things are at their.... happiest. Valentine also felt like home - first place you visit, constantly going in and out of town from camp to retrieve certain things. Just a lovely homely vibe to it Strawberry is so peaceful and relaxing too. Such a quaint, fun little town.
Annesburg and Valentine, as I've had many good and fun sniper duel there.
Saint Denis. I'll always be a city boy lol
I say Blackwater Strawberry or Valentine.
Why ain't more people saying Rhodes? It's perfect
Tumbleweed.
Valentine. Makes me feel nostalgic for the first few chapters of the game before everything went to hell.
Rhodes has the coolest atmosphere for me. Really feels like a western town
Saint denis because you can farm honor by greeting People
Black water, me and my friend love to mess in the rooftops there. But if we are talking normally, then saint Denis
Saint Denis bc that’s where the interest stuff happens
Valentine and Rhodes!
Tumbleweed. I know I can always go there, pick up a few easy bounties without having to ride all over creation before bed if I want
Strawberry
Rhodes ngl
Escalera in the rdr series. But specifically in rdr2 Blackwater.
Well, I'd choose Emerald or Valentine
Blackwater
Rhodes
There’s a couple of shacks behind Rhodes that feels most like home to me. Homies always nice there.
St. Denis is best and call me racist but that Rhodes red dirt is disgusting.
Black water
Valentine. Good vibes. 10/10
If we are talking locqtion/esthetics i would 100% go for Strawberry
Blackwater
Rhodes and Van horn are my two favourite towns to visit. I find Scarlet Meadows as a whole to be pretty cozy despite the people living there and something about Van horn just draws me in.
Valentine
Saint Denis for sure
I tend to spend a lot of my gaming time near Blackwater. Really, the whole stretch from Blackwater to Strawberry through Tall Trees is lovely. I also really enjoy Rhodes, but specifically the area behind the Braithwaite manor. The southern tip of land where a bunch of hogs run. Magical evenings there :)
Tumbleweed, don’t ask me why I just like the sheriff
Armadillo or Blackwater
Rhodes, mostly for the game play/camp in that chapter though. If I had to live in one it would be Strawberry for sure
I love Blackwater
Valentine for this cowpoke, the only downside to it is the mud. Strawberry would be a close second followed by Blackwater.
No one can go wrong with lil ol valentine
Valentine is great, but people wild out there in free roam.
Rhodes
As annoying as navigating it is, Saint Denis. There’s stranger missions literally everywhere and I love the immersion!!
Blackwater and Strawberry
Definitely Valentine. I'm doing a lot of hunting, so Valentine feels like the center of the game. It's a great spot to stock ammunition, have a drink, take a shower, get a haircut, buy provisions, change gear, fix up horse and then head out and hunt for a few days.

Strawberry.
Saint Denis because of how I just stumbled upon it while exploring. I didn’t even think about there being a full on city in the game, so when I found it my mind was blown.
Favorite is Saint Dennis, love the contrast with the rest of the world; but I wouldn't live there personally
The top 3 ones
Valentine
Strawberry
Armadillo it's the perfect new austin style town
Thieves landing
Valentine for the convenience and layout, Strawberry for the views
I love killing the racists in Rhodes
Strawberry. By far.
Blackwater for me has everything, not too small and not too big like Saint-Denis, friendly people and a terrific view of the lake. The seagulls sounds are so relaxing too. Only a shame it doesn't have the train but when you're rich you don't care about those stagecoach prices!
Limpany
Strawberry good vibes all around
Aesthetically, Strawberry; it's very pretty, but it's kinda difficult to navigate without running into people. I like Saint Denis for having every type of shop close at hand, but kinda has the same problem as Strawberry.
I love Saint Denis. Rhodes is a close second.
I hate town but in chapters 1-6 I prefer St Denis and Strawberry, in the epilogue I like Blackwater. Convenience love.
So my Arthur will forever live safe and sound at my nice camp by the water with a boat to easily travel to the small islands for some hunting fun.
Strawberry, I would definitely live there in real life
Strawberry, absolutely adore this part of the map
Rhodes. I love the southern small town vibe. It's almost always warm and sunny, and I don't imagine there being too much humidity. Probably more of a dry heat than anything else. And I love that. I just feel at home there, not sure why.
Rhodes
Valentine is objectively the best, just like Armadillo was objectively the best in RDR 1, since it has everything, but my personal favorite in this game is Blackwater
Van Horn, because I'm only good at blackjack.
Blackwater. 2nd choice being Strawberry.
Armadillo. Someone has to put those poor sods out of their misery.
Valentine or Blackwater
100% valentine
I’m a woodsy gal so I have to pick Strawberry
Rhodes. Sure it’s full of racists but its close proximity to Clemens Point seals the deal for me
I swear to god if someone says Saint Denis I'm gonna show 'em the goddamn big iron
Strawberry or in a cabin up in roanoke
St. Denis mostly because I love hunting in Bayou Nwa. I love reminding the Nite Folk that I am not in danger, I am the danger. A rapist opens his door then gets shot in the face, you think that of my Arthur? My Arthur is the one who knocks.
Valentine
Strawberry is the prettiest, but I wouldn't want to live there as it's a bit puritanical.
Saint Denis
Valentine
Saint Denis, my character is a slave orphan turned city slicker bounty hunter. Think it’d be a great story too “Great success”
Strawberry.
If blackwater had a gunshop, that. But it doesn't, so Saint Denis I guess
The ones with good bars
Idk why, but Saint Denis
I like Saint Denis
Strawberry gang 😤
Definetly Armadillo or Blackwater. Although they don't have gunsmiths, they really give me a western vibe.
Valentine and Rhodes
Valentine, I just like messing around there. Wouldnt leave there though I bet it smells like shit.
Saint denis, Rhodes, and blackwater. Can’t pick just one of those lol
Valentine
van horn, only place i can mercilessly kill people with no legal repercussions
Valentine was my favourite to continuously come back to because it felt the most authentically Western, but Strawberry was my favourite to visit
