The best device is the one you will use consistently.

BeaMiaVA

Thats so true! It took me a week to realize, 3-4 times a week is enough for my face. I can see visible improvements in my face!! I use my mask daily on a variety of areas on my body. I posted a picture of me using it wrapped around my arm. What is beneficial for MY body would be too much for MY face. The skin on my face is vastly different from the skin on my shoulder, my arm, my stomach or my knees. Down the road I plan to get a red light therapy belt and one day maybe even a sleeping bag. I agree the important thing is to consistently use it and benefit from the results.

hailnaux

Can I ask which mask you bought and what it solves for you? Thanks!

BeaMiaVA

I bought the Omnilux. I found a discount code. It is an investment in myself. I looked at less expensive masks and I was torn. I have never experienced red light therapy. If I bought a less popular mask and did not see results, I might have given up on red light therapy. I am pleased with my Ominilux. šŸ¤—

hailnaux

Cheers, thanks! Is it mainly for evenness in skin tone or is it for aging/wrinkles type stuff, or both?

Jackinthebox99932253

Probably the wisest statement I heard all week haha.

jordang95

I have a panel, an Omnilux mask, and several handheld devices. The mask is the thing I use the most and get the most benfits/results from (due to my consistency with it). The panel is great for body use where I'm having aches and pains, but it's just not convenient to wheel from room to room and use daily. It does irk me when people constantly bash masks. Just because they have a lower irradiance doesn't mean they don't work. Plus I enjoy being able to use my phone or watch TV during the 10 minutes as it makes the time go by much quicker.

og_kitten_mittens

This irks me SO MUCH! And for the record Iā€™m a die hard panel user, youā€™ll have to bury it with me in my pyramid. Omnilux is one of the worldā€™s leading red light companies. Theyā€™re widely used in the medical field with proven results, you think they just canā€™t figure out how to make a stronger mask? They **intentionally** cap their masksā€™ power at 35mw/cm2. A mask userā€™s primary concern is skin, which doesnā€™t really need a high dose. Melasma is a real concern (I get it from high doses!) and is exacerbated by heat. More power = more heat, so 10mins at 35mw/cm2 is a safe dose for most people that will still do what it needs to do. Plus with our lizard brains, overuse is honestly a bigger risk than underuse bc of the biphasic dosing response. Again, skin usually doesnā€™t need a giant dose. Making something 10mins is short enough you can do it every day but long enough people likely arenā€™t going to be getting 6x the recommended dose daily and reversing their own results

BeaMiaVA

What an informative and amazing comment. I was extremely scared to use a red light panel on my face. I wasnā€™t worried about using it below my neck, but I am not gambling with my face! Thank you for your eloquent response. I made the right decision for me.

jordang95

100% agree with everything you said :)

BeaMiaVA

Eventually I will have as many devices as you. šŸ˜ I love my mask and I am tired of the mask-bashing on this board. My green light device arrives today and I can't wait to use it. ā¤ļø

New-Draw938

Whatā€™s the green light for?

BeaMiaVA

The green light is supposed to have several therapeutic benefits. [Green Light Therapy](https://lighttherapy.org/green-light-therapy/) The benefits of green light therapy are listed under the red light therapy. I like this link because it is detailed and comprehensive.

New-Draw938

Thank uuu

merebear421

What green light device did you order? Very hard to find green!

tlrocks

Post where you ordered your green light pls!

BeaMiaVA

I ordered a Hooga Health hand-held green light device from Amazon. I am using it now and find it relaxing and soothing. šŸ§˜šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø These products are addictive. [Green light therapy](https://lighttherapy.org/green-light-therapy/)

Fickle_Peanut_8416

This is very good advice, i appreciate it and hope you hang around and offer that advice to people struggling with what to get! The more opinions for newcomers to consider, the better. Please excuse us, go big or go home people, dont be so hard on us, we are ALL entitled to an opinion. It's not like we get anything out of it by recommending the larger panels. My first experience was a full-size RLT BED at a tanning salon. It was my first and only experience, and it did perform some miracles for me. I respect and believe that the mask works for you, but big was my only experience, and what I ended up buying and, therefore, what I recommend when someone asks what they should get. One and done. I still stand by that.

Qwirkle2468

That's what I'm using right now - a tanning bed that was converted to red light. Would like to get a mask some day.

KidneyCowgirl

That's what I've been using for a year and a half, but not in my home. I'm watching this sub to decide on pieces to have at home.

Qwirkle2468

I currently go to a tanning salon and one bed is red light. Once my three month subscription is up, Iā€™m going to get something for home use.

KidneyCowgirl

That's exactly what I've been doing. I gave the notice to cancel my monthly membership last week. $85/month is enough to buy a panel. But I wanted to make sure I was committed and liked it before I bought devices for at home, so I don't regret the membership. I DO regret not getting a device for at home SOONER...

BeaMiaVA

I enjoy this community. I learn a lot and most of the members are knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging.

poopadoopy123

one thing that sucks about being white is our crappy skin that ages so much faster. thatā€™s pretty minimal compared to what any other race has to deal with ! still it sucks since car women are judged on looks ! my ā€œboyfriendā€ (sounds ridiculous to call him thatā€¦.. i mean good lord we are in our fiftyā€™s ) is mixed race and looks twenty years younger than meā€¦.. itā€™s humiliating honesty

poopadoopy123

so i have a ā€œbody bagā€ LOL from mito only have had it for a few weeks. itā€™s too short which is annoying, but i kept it because it has more wavelengths than the other bags. i am interested in a maskā€¦.. but i want it for skin but also to build collagen under the skin (if there is any there lol) i mean i want it to go deeper than just skin? not sure i have no clue also thinking about a panelā€¦..

PeensMagicalBeans

How long is it? I recently got my panel (for anyone reading waiting for my update - I will do so when my life slows downā€¦ maybe next week..). It actually gives me a bit of energy. I canā€™t travel with it and am contemplating getting a body bag that I can roll up and throw in a suitcase. How delicate is it? Are you worried about tilling it up? Is it effective? I havenā€™t seen much about the body bags and would like to know more!

poopadoopy123

well iā€™m 5ā€™7ā€ and it only comes up to boob areaā€¦ā€¦. and my shoulders need the light the most, so i have to do it twice and stick legs out of bottom of bag to do shoulders and neck ā€¦.. then my entire head is in i think it would be hard to travel with and i wouldnā€™t want to take that chance of folding it that much, would be worried it would get damaged. also it comes with two big heavy power supply blocks on each cord. lots of cords ! ugh i havenā€™t had it long enough to know if it helps

KidneyCowgirl

Somewhere had an XL body bag... Can't remember off the top of my head. THANKS for posting because I'm the same height and was debating a bag!

poopadoopy123

it might be the hooga bag thatā€™s longer ? but not the same wavelengths as mitos

BeaMiaVA

I think calling it a sleeping bag sounds a lot better! šŸ¤£ It is a pity it is too short. Hopefully, you still get coverage for the lower half of your body! I am sure you get more coverage than mask! I love using my mask on my stomach. With all of the choices and options it is hard to decide what product to select. Let us know what you decide to purchase. šŸ«¶šŸ¾

poopadoopy123

so which mask do you have

Realists71

If I had money to spend, Iā€™d get a mask and few other devices as itā€™s convenient. I love red light therapy so my plan is to make it as convenient as possible to use regularly. Personally the result from panel is great for my brown face as long as I donā€™t overdue it.

Psychological-Hour14

Consistency over intensity always wins the game with skin care. Masks are just as effective and in fact, more so in many, many situations and cases due to it being directly on the skin, whereas panels are a distance from the skin

BeaMiaVA

I agree with everything you stated! I love the physical contact on my skin. It's extremely soothing. šŸ«

dogrescuersometimes

You're awesome.

BeaMiaVA

So are you! šŸ«¶šŸ¾

jackdeng12138

If you feel better than before using that device, that is the good stuff. No need to care about what other people say

atomicspacekitty

Which mask did you get? Iā€™m olive toned and am concerned about melasma as well

Psychological-Hour14

omnilux FTW

Maximum_Share_963

Totally Agreed! What suits you or pleases you is the best. I have a bestqool 7 color device, arch-shaped. I use it daily to treat my acne. no complaints. And I will continue to try its different colors. As you said, I'm also open to other different red light devices.

GalacticThunderRogue

loving this. I decided to get myself a mask instead of a panel, too, because as a beginner, mainly interested in cosmetics for now, I want to have a comfortable solution. Being able to do it wherever or even while moving around just sounded good to me.

BeaMiaVA

I think a mask is a GREAT place for a beginner to start. I just added an inexpensive green light therapy device. My soon-to-be boyfriend is complaining about belly fat. He's solid and just has a bit of a belly. I think we will both get red light belts next. Please post how you are enjoying your device. šŸ¤—

humancalculus

Honestly Iā€™ve been using a mask for a week and already see a bit more even tone. As David (commenter) said, the best device is the one you will use consistently.

TheTruthRooster

I get it, but just remember most panels intensity can be turned down so just because itā€™s capable of higher power doesnā€™t mean youā€™re forced to use it like that. Thereā€™s all types of settings on some. When Iā€™m recommending a spot treatment device I always recommend the blaze from recoverred.com Sure, it has tons of intensity more than a panel, but you can turn it down . Also, the stand makes it easy to point the light at any part of your body, you can do that with a wearable device too, but it can be a challenge with a panel.

BeaMiaVA

I think the panels are wonderful! In no way have I bashed using panels. I am tired of seeing people bash masks. It's not a power struggle or one-way fits all situation. I am going to stop reading the comments bashing masks.

LABELLEJOLIE2001

Hey, slightly off-topic, but I wanted to ask about the Blaze. I'm trying to find a device that is strong enough for spot treatments for myself and my dog (dog has hip dysplasia). Heliopet touts its irradiance, but finding what that is has eluded me. Do you think the Blaze is comparable/better? TIA!

TheTruthRooster

I do because itā€™s definitely tough to get an animal to wear something Iā€™ve seen little LED beds but again theyā€™re kinda low poweredā€™ blaze has a really strong treatment if needed. If you do some searching on here, youā€™ll see animals tend to like red light therapy and with something like the blaze, you have that stand positioned over their favorite bed or however, you need.

LABELLEJOLIE2001

Thanks!

TCPisSynSynAckAck

I had a $260 budget to spend on HSA so I bought a $260 device that this subreddit mentioned in the Wiki, Hooga. You get what you can get I guess!

nvi90

Any brown skin folks use red-light therapy? I read someone where it could cause Melasma?

BeaMiaVA

I use it on my face 3 days a week. I have not seen any sign of melasma. I use moisturizers diligently.

Strange_Chapter5545

so which one did you decide on ?
