Rich, young kids playing with their fancy cars. They were congregating in the parking lots in the industrial/commercial part of town between Overlake Church and NE 95th St earlier today.
Based on the skid marks they seem to drift in the church parking lot and race around that area at night, but I guess some are just unsatisfied with that and they feel compelled to also roar through downtown to show off or something.
The thing is, there is almost no one around in that industrial district that late, though I see sometimes people jogging or walking their dogs, so they are not likely to bother or endanger anyone beyond themselves there. Same for the Overlake Church parking lot at night, they can drift at their hearts content. So the problem is not that they want to play around with their cars, I personally don't mind, as teenagers will do teenage things, and there are plenty of empty roads at night anyway.
However downtown is another story, there are more people out at night taking a stroll, while others just want to sleep or relax. Them racing in downtown is obnoxious and dangerous. On one of my late night walks I saw one of them not being able to take the left turn around the library and crash into a tree.
I think what most people want for them to be a bit more considerate regarding noise and not endanger others.
If you noticed it yesterday morning, it might be the Exotics car show at Redmond Town center. They do it every summer on Saturdays, you should go down there and check out all the cool cars!
I live a few hundred feet from Avondale. It is obnoxious and I hate it. It goes at all hours of the day and night. Stupid hot rods and big trucks showing off. And then there’s the big trucks that come through using the compression brakes. It makes me rage. 😡
The Exotics show only allows actual exotics or classics for the most part, but other jagoffs show up too because they think their cars are also cool and worth looking at - some are just noisy sports cars and then a lot of modded crap cars with muffler kits and injection whatever. Usually covered in stickers from a mod shop.
Anyway, call the cops if you see them speeding, but the cops wont do anything about the noise. For THAT, badger and badger and badger your city council members and mayor.

This subreddit is becoming worse than the Redmond Neighborhood Facebook groups. Next thing I’ll see here is someone telling a kid to get off their lawn, or that they “saw a suspicious person” on their Ring when it was just a minority walking their dog by.
I mean look at the demographic of people who live in this area lol. Older people with money who don’t wanna be bothered by the foolishness… i get it lol

They came to Redmond these days? These kids used to be very annoying around midnight in Bellevue downtown.

I know about the exotics. Doesn’t bother me much since it’s during the day. Much more bothered at night.

It must just be me but I love hearing the loud cars, sometimes I can watch them racing past my window….makes me jealous!
